CoVEBench: Can Video Editing Models Handle Complex Instructions?

While recent text-guided video editing models excel at elementary tasks (e.g., style transfer, object insertion), real-world user requests are highly compositional. A single prompt often demands multiple coupled edits, such as modifying subjects, actions, and camera views, while strictly preserving unrelated spatiotemporal content. Existing benchmarks, heavily constrained by isolated edits and coarse global metrics, fail to diagnose how models handle such complex workflows. To address this gap, we introduce CoVEBench, a compositional video editing benchmark comprising 416 curated source videos, 626 multi-point editing instructions, and 9,990 fine-grained checklist items. Covering diverse editing dimensions, CoVEBench evaluates models via MLLM-judged instruction compliance and video fidelity, alongside automated metrics for video quality. Extensive experiments reveal that compositional editing remains a profound challenge: current models frequently omit edits, violate preservation constraints, or introduce artifacts when handling multiple operations simultaneously. CoVEBench provides a challenging, diagnostic testbed to advance video editing toward realistic user workflows.

Exceptional-Point Dynamics

Exceptional points (EPs) play a vital role in non-Hermitian (NH) systems, driving unique dynamical phenomena and promising innovative applications. However, the NH dynamics at EPs remains obscure due to the incomplete biorthogonal eigenspaces of defective NH Hamiltonians and thus is often avoided. In this manuscript, we systematically establish pseudo-completeness relations at EPs by employing all available generalized eigenstates, where both single and multiple arbitrary-order EPs embracing degenerate scenarios are addressed, to unveil EP dynamics. We reveal that depending on EP order and initial conditions, the EP dynamics is characterized by a \emph{polynomial growth over time} of coalescing eigenstates or their superposition, which will dominate long-term evolution despite real spectra protected by pseudo-Hermiticity (PH), or can also become unitary. We further introduce two PH-compliant NH models to demonstrate these EP dynamics and explore their applications. This work completes the dynamical investigation of NH physics, offers valuable insights into the nonunitary evolution at EPs, and further lays the foundation for engineering and exploiting EP-related devices and technologies.

Quantum transport in a one-dimensional quasicrystal with mobility edges

Quantum transport in a one-dimensional (1D) quasiperiodic lattice with mobility edges is explored. We first investigate the adiabatic pumping between left and right edge modes by resorting to two edge-bulk-edge channels and demonstrate that the success or failure of the adiabatic pumping depends on whether the corresponding bulk subchannel undergoes a localization-delocalization transition. Compared with the paradigmatic Aubry-André (AA) model, the introduction of mobility edges triggers an opposite outcome for successful pumping in the two channels, showing a discrepancy of critical condition, and facilitates the robustness of the adiabatic pumping against quasidisorder. We also consider the transfer between excitations at both boundaries of the lattice and an anomalous phenomenon characterized by the enhanced quasidisorder contributing to the excitation transfer is found. Furthermore, there exists a parametric regime where a nonreciprocal effect emerges in the presence of mobility edges, which leads to a unidirectional transport for the excitation transfer and enables potential applications in the engineering of quantum diodes.
