Codecfake: An Initial Dataset for Detecting LLM-based Deepfake Audio

With the proliferation of Large Language Model (LLM) based deepfake audio, there is an urgent need for effective detection methods. Previous deepfake audio generation methods typically involve a multi-step generation process, with the final step using a vocoder to predict the waveform from handcrafted features. However, LLM-based audio is directly generated from discrete neural codecs in an end-to-end generation process, skipping the final step of vocoder processing. This poses a significant challenge for current audio deepfake detection (ADD) models based on vocoder artifacts. To effectively detect LLM-based deepfake audio, we focus on the core of the generation process, the conversion from neural codec to waveform. We propose Codecfake dataset, which is generated by seven representative neural codec methods. Experiment results show that codec-trained ADD models exhibit a 41.406% reduction in average equal error rate compared to vocoder-trained ADD models on the Codecfake test set.

Genuine-Focused Learning using Mask AutoEncoder for Generalized Fake Audio Detection

The generalization of Fake Audio Detection (FAD) is critical due to the emergence of new spoofing techniques. Traditional FAD methods often focus solely on distinguishing between genuine and known spoofed audio. We propose a Genuine-Focused Learning (GFL) framework guided, aiming for highly generalized FAD, called GFL-FAD. This method incorporates a Counterfactual Reasoning Enhanced Representation (CRER) based on audio reconstruction using the Mask AutoEncoder (MAE) architecture to accurately model genuine audio features. To reduce the influence of spoofed audio during training, we introduce a genuine audio reconstruction loss, maintaining the focus on learning genuine data features. In addition, content-related bottleneck (BN) features are extracted from the MAE to supplement the knowledge of the original audio. These BN features are adaptively fused with CRER to further improve robustness. Our method achieves state-of-the-art performance with an EER of 0.25% on ASVspoof2019 LA.

PPPR: Portable Plug-in Prompt Refiner for Text to Audio Generation

Text-to-Audio (TTA) aims to generate audio that corresponds to the given text description, playing a crucial role in media production. The text descriptions in TTA datasets lack rich variations and diversity, resulting in a drop in TTA model performance when faced with complex text. To address this issue, we propose a method called Portable Plug-in Prompt Refiner, which utilizes rich knowledge about textual descriptions inherent in large language models to effectively enhance the robustness of TTA acoustic models without altering the acoustic training set. Furthermore, a Chain-of-Thought that mimics human verification is introduced to enhance the accuracy of audio descriptions, thereby improving the accuracy of generated content in practical applications. The experiments show that our method achieves a state-of-the-art Inception Score (IS) of 8.72, surpassing AudioGen, AudioLDM and Tango.

Generalized Fake Audio Detection via Deep Stable Learning

Although current fake audio detection approaches have achieved remarkable success on specific datasets, they often fail when evaluated with datasets from different distributions. Previous studies typically address distribution shift by focusing on using extra data or applying extra loss restrictions during training. However, these methods either require a substantial amount of data or complicate the training process. In this work, we propose a stable learning-based training scheme that involves a Sample Weight Learning (SWL) module, addressing distribution shift by decorrelating all selected features via learning weights from training samples. The proposed portable plug-in-like SWL is easy to apply to multiple base models and generalizes them without using extra data during training. Experiments conducted on the ASVspoof datasets clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of SWL in generalizing different models across three evaluation datasets from different distributions.

Proximate deconfined quantum critical point in SrCu2(BO3)2

The deconfined quantum critical point (DQCP) represents a paradigm shift in quantum matter studies, presenting a "beyond Landau" scenario for order--order transitions. Its experimental realization, however, has remained elusive. Using high-pressure $^{11}$B NMR measurements on the quantum magnet SrCu$_2$(BO$_3$)$_2$, we here demonstrate a magnetic-field induced plaquette-singlet to antiferromagnetic transition above 1.8 GPa at a remarkably low temperature, $T_{\rm c}\simeq 0.07$ K. First-order signatures of the transition weaken with increasing pressure, and we observe quantum critical scaling at the highest pressure, 2.4 GPa. Supported by model calculations, we suggest that these observations can be explained by a proximate DQCP inducing critical quantum fluctuations and emergent O(3) symmetry of the order parameters. Our findings take the DQCP from a theoretical concept to a concrete experimental platform.

TSNAT: Two-Step Non-Autoregressvie Transformer Models for Speech Recognition

The autoregressive (AR) models, such as attention-based encoder-decoder models and RNN-Transducer, have achieved great success in speech recognition. They predict the output sequence conditioned on the previous tokens and acoustic encoded states, which is inefficient on GPUs. The non-autoregressive (NAR) models can get rid of the temporal dependency between the output tokens and predict the entire output tokens in at least one step. However, the NAR model still faces two major problems. On the one hand, there is still a great gap in performance between the NAR models and the advanced AR models. On the other hand, it's difficult for most of the NAR models to train and converge. To address these two problems, we propose a new model named the two-step non-autoregressive transformer(TSNAT), which improves the performance and accelerating the convergence of the NAR model by learning prior knowledge from a parameters-sharing AR model. Furthermore, we introduce the two-stage method into the inference process, which improves the model performance greatly. All the experiments are conducted on a public Chinese mandarin dataset ASIEHLL-1. The results show that the TSNAT can achieve a competitive performance with the AR model and outperform many complicated NAR models.

Highly Anisotropic Electronic and Mechanical Properties of Monolayer and Bilayer As2S3

Anisotropic materials, with orientation-dependent properties, have attracted more and more attention due to their compelling tunable and flexible performance in electronic and optomechanical devices. So far, two-dimensional (2D) black phosphorus shows the largest known anisotropic behavior, which is highly desired for synaptic and neuromorphic devices, multifunctional directional memories, and even polarization-sensitive photodetector, whereas it is unstable at ambient conditions. Recently, 2D few-layered As2S3 with superior chemical stability was successfully exfoliated in experiments. However, the electronic and mechanical properties of monolayer and bilayer As2S3 is still lacking. Here, we report the large anisotropic electronic and mechanical properties of As2S3 systems through first-principles calculations and general angle-dependent Hooke's law. Monolayer and bilayer As2S3 exhibit anisotropic factors of Young's modulus of 3.15 and 3.32, respectively, which are larger than the black phosphorous with experimentally confirmed and an anisotropic factor of 2. This study provides an effective route to flexible orientation-dependent nanoelectronics, nanomechanics, and offers implications in promoting related experimental investigations.

Deep Attention Fusion Feature for Speech Separation with End-to-End Post-filter Method

In this paper, we propose an end-to-end post-filter method with deep attention fusion features for monaural speaker-independent speech separation. At first, a time-frequency domain speech separation method is applied as the pre-separation stage. The aim of pre-separation stage is to separate the mixture preliminarily. Although this stage can separate the mixture, it still contains the residual interference. In order to enhance the pre-separated speech and improve the separation performance further, the end-to-end post-filter (E2EPF) with deep attention fusion features is proposed. The E2EPF can make full use of the prior knowledge of the pre-separated speech, which contributes to speech separation. It is a fully convolutional speech separation network and uses the waveform as the input features. Firstly, the 1-D convolutional layer is utilized to extract the deep representation features for the mixture and pre-separated signals in the time domain. Secondly, to pay more attention to the outputs of the pre-separation stage, an attention module is applied to acquire deep attention fusion features, which are extracted by computing the similarity between the mixture and the pre-separated speech. These deep attention fusion features are conducive to reduce the interference and enhance the pre-separated speech. Finally, these features are sent to the post-filter to estimate each target signals. Experimental results on the WSJ0-2mix dataset show that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art speech separation method. Compared with the pre-separation method, our proposed method can acquire 64.1%, 60.2%, 25.6% and 7.5% relative improvements in scale-invariant source-to-noise ratio (SI-SNR), the signal-to-distortion ratio (SDR), the perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) and the short-time objective intelligibility (STOI) measures, respectively.

Costate-focused models for reinforcement learning

Many recent algorithms for reinforcement learning are model-free and founded on the Bellman equation. Here we present a method founded on the costate equation and models of the state dynamics. We use the costate -- the gradient of cost with respect to state -- to improve the policy and also to "focus" the model, training it to detect and mimic those features of the environment that are most relevant to its task. We show that this method can handle difficult time-optimal control problems, driving deterministic or stochastic mechanical systems quickly to a target. On these tasks it works well compared to deep deterministic policy gradient, a recent Bellman method. And because it creates a model, the costate method can also learn from mental practice.
