A Graph-based Verification Framework for Fact-Checking

Fact-checking plays a crucial role in combating misinformation. Existing methods using large language models (LLMs) for claim decomposition face two key limitations: (1) insufficient decomposition, introducing unnecessary complexity to the verification process, and (2) ambiguity of mentions, leading to incorrect verification results. To address these challenges, we suggest introducing a claim graph consisting of triplets to address the insufficient decomposition problem and reduce mention ambiguity through graph structure. Based on this core idea, we propose a graph-based framework, GraphFC, for fact-checking. The framework features three key components: graph construction, which builds both claim and evidence graphs; graph-guided planning, which prioritizes the triplet verification order; and graph-guided checking, which verifies the triples one by one between claim and evidence graphs. Extensive experiments show that GraphFC enables fine-grained decomposition while resolving referential ambiguities through relational constraints, achieving state-of-the-art performance across three datasets.

Modeling coupled constellation dynamics for TianQin under self-gravity

TianQin is a dedicated geocentric mission for space-based gravitational wave (GW) detection. Among its core technologies, the drag-free and pointing control subsystem (DFPCS) - consisting of suspension, drag-free and pointing controls - keeps the two test masses (TMs) centered and aligned within their housings while maintaining drag-free conditions and precise telescope pointing along the laser-arm directions. This results in orbit-attitude coupled dynamics for the constellation. The coupling is made more prominent due to satellite self-gravity, which requires compensation from DFPCS and generally makes the satellites deviate from pure free-fall orbits. Previous studies assumed that the orbit and attitude dynamics could be decoupled in numerical simulation, neglecting the back-action from the closed-loop control to orbit propagation. To address this, we develop a comprehensive model that can propagate the full 9-body (6 TMs + 3 satellites, orbits and attitudes) dynamics inter-dependently under the inter-satellite pointing and drag-free conditions. This paper is threefold. First, we reassess the applicability of the two TMs and telescope pointing scheme to TianQin using the new model, and confirm the previous conclusion. Second, to meet the constellation stability requirements, it is found that the DC common self-gravity in the flight direction should be minimized, or kept close for the three satellites. Finally, we simulate the long-range light path between two TMs/satellites with a precision of sub-pm/Hz$^{1/2}$, and the results support the decoupling of the closed-loop dynamics and high-precision orbit for computational efficiency. The method is instrumental to other future missions where the orbit-attitude coupling needs careful consideration.

Progress of the TianQin project

TianQin is a future space-based gravitational wave observatory targeting the frequency window of $10^{-4}$ Hz $\sim 1$ Hz. A large variety of gravitational wave sources are expected in this frequency band, including the merger of massive black hole binaries, the inspiral of extreme/intermediate mass ratio systems, stellar-mass black hole binaries, Galactic compact binaries, and so on. TianQin will consist of three Earth orbiting satellites on nearly identical orbits with orbital radii of about $10^5$ km. The satellites will form a normal triangle constellation whose plane is nearly perpendicular to the ecliptic plane. The TianQin project has been progressing smoothly following the ``0123" technology roadmap. In step ``0", the TianQin laser ranging station has been constructed and it has successfully ranged to all the five retro-reflectors on the Moon. In step ``1", the drag-free control technology has been tested and demonstrated using the TianQin-1 satellite. In step ``2", the inter-satellite laser interferometry technology will be tested using the pair of TianQin-2 satellites. The TianQin-2 mission has been officially approved and the satellites will be launched around 2026. In step ``3", i.e., the TianQin-3 mission, three identical satellites will be launched around 2035 to form the space-based gravitational wave detector, TianQin, and to start gravitational wave detection in space.

Learning to Select Cutting Planes in Mixed Integer Linear Programming Solving

Cutting planes (cuts) are crucial for solving Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problems. Advanced MILP solvers typically rely on manually designed heuristic algorithms for cut selection, which require much expert experience and cannot be generalized for different scales of MILP problems. Therefore, learning-based methods for cut selection are considered a promising direction. State-of-the-art learning-based methods formulate cut selection as a sequence-to-sequence problem, easily handled by sequence models. However, the existing sequence models need help with the following issues: (1) the model only captures cut information while neglecting the Linear Programming (LP) relaxation; (2) the sequence model utilizes positional information of the input sequence, which may influence cut selection. To address these challenges, we design a novel learning model HGTSM for better select cuts. We encode MILP problem state as a heterogeneous tripartite graph, utilizing heterogeneous graph networks to fully capture the underlying structure of MILP problems. Simultaneously, we propose a novel sequence model whose architecture is tailored to handle inputs in different orders. Experimental results demonstrate that our model outperforms heuristic methods and learning-based baselines on multiple challenging MILP datasets. Additionally, the model exhibits stability and the ability to generalize to different types of problems.

Postprocessing of tilt-to-length noise with coefficient drifts in TianQin using a null time-delay interferometry channel

Tilt-to-length (TTL) coupling is expected to be one of the major noise sources in the interferometric phase readouts in TianQin mission. Arising from the angular motion of spacecraft (SC) and the onboard movable optical subassemblies (MOSAs), TTL noise needs to be removed in postprocessing after suppressing the laser phase noise with time-delay interferometry (TDI) technique. In this article, we show that we can estimate the TTL coupling coefficients using the null TDI channel ζ and remove the TTL noise in the commonly used Michelson variables with the estimated coefficients. We introduce the theoretical model of TTL noise in TDI and consider linear drifts in the linear TTL coefficients for noise estimation and subtraction. The TTL coefficients with drifts are estimated successfully with an accuracy of 10 μm/rad in our numerical simulation. We discuss the impact of point-ahead angle compensation error and wavefront error, and find it necessary to estimate linear drift coefficients and quadratic TTL coefficients to keep TTL noise residuals below the 0.3 pm noise reference curve. However, the estimation accuracy suffers greatly from the correlation between yaw jitter measurements that contain the same SC jitter. Assuming all angular jitters induced by MOSAs are independent, choosing a frequency range with relatively higher MOSA yaw jitter noise levels is beneficial to the TTL coefficient estimation.

SEMDR: A Semantic-Aware Dual Encoder Model for Legal Judgment Prediction with Legal Clue Tracing

Legal Judgment Prediction (LJP) aims to form legal judgments based on the criminal fact description. However, researchers struggle to classify confusing criminal cases, such as robbery and theft, which requires LJP models to distinguish the nuances between similar crimes. Existing methods usually design handcrafted features to pick up necessary semantic legal clues to make more accurate legal judgment predictions. In this paper, we propose a Semantic-Aware Dual Encoder Model (SEMDR), which designs a novel legal clue tracing mechanism to conduct fine-grained semantic reasoning between criminal facts and instruments. Our legal clue tracing mechanism is built from three reasoning levels: 1) Lexicon-Tracing, which aims to extract criminal facts from criminal descriptions; 2) Sentence Representation Learning, which contrastively trains language models to better represent confusing criminal facts; 3) Multi-Fact Reasoning, which builds a reasons graph to propagate semantic clues among fact nodes to capture the subtle difference among criminal facts. Our legal clue tracing mechanism helps SEMDR achieve state-of-the-art on the CAIL2018 dataset and shows its advance in few-shot scenarios. Our experiments show that SEMDR has a strong ability to learn more uniform and distinguished representations for criminal facts, which helps to make more accurate predictions on confusing criminal cases and reduces the model uncertainty during making judgments. All codes will be released via GitHub.

Progressively Modality Freezing for Multi-Modal Entity Alignment

Multi-Modal Entity Alignment aims to discover identical entities across heterogeneous knowledge graphs. While recent studies have delved into fusion paradigms to represent entities holistically, the elimination of features irrelevant to alignment and modal inconsistencies is overlooked, which are caused by inherent differences in multi-modal features. To address these challenges, we propose a novel strategy of progressive modality freezing, called PMF, that focuses on alignmentrelevant features and enhances multi-modal feature fusion. Notably, our approach introduces a pioneering cross-modal association loss to foster modal consistency. Empirical evaluations across nine datasets confirm PMF's superiority, demonstrating stateof-the-art performance and the rationale for freezing modalities. Our code is available at https://github.com/ninibymilk/PMF-MMEA.

Mott insulating phase and coherent-incoherent crossover across magnetic phase transition in 2D antiferromagnetic CrSBr

In two-dimensional van der Waals magnetic materials, the interplay between magnetism and electron correlation can give rise to new ground states and lead to novel transport and optical properties. A fundamental question in these materials is how the electron correlation manifests and interacts with the magnetic orders. In this study, we demonstrate that the recently discovered 2D antiferromagnetic material, CrSBr, is a Mott insulator, through the combined use of resonant and temperature-dependent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy techiniques, supplemented by dynamical mean-field theory analysis. Intriguingly, we found that as the system transitions from the antiferromagnetic to the paramagnetic phases, its Mott bands undergo a reconfiguration, and a coherent-incoherent crossover, driven by the dissolution of the magnetic order. Our findings reveal a distinctive evolution of band structure associated with magnetic phase transitions, shedding light on the investigation of intricate interplay between correlation and magnetic orders in strongly correlated van der Waals magnetic materials.

Suppression of the skyrmion Hall effect in synthetic ferrimagnets with gradient magnetization

Magnetic skyrmions are promising building blocks for future spintronic devices. However, the skyrmion Hall effect (SkHE) remains an obstacle for practical applications based on the in-line transport of skyrmions. Here, we numerically study the static properties and current-driven dynamics of synthetic ferrimagnetic skyrmions. Inspired by graded-index magnonics, we introduce a linear gradient of saturation magnetization (Ms) in the skyrmion-hosting sample, which effectively modulates the skyrmion Hall angle and suppresses the SkHE. Micromagnetic simulations reveal that ferrimagnetic skyrmions could exhibit greater susceptibility to the variation of Ms as compared to their ferromagnetic counterparts. The Thiele analysis is also applied to support the simulation results, which elucidates that the Ms gradient dynamically modifies the intrinsic normalized size of skyrmions, consequently impacting the SkHE. Our results pave the way to the graded-index skyrmionics, which offers novel insights for designing ferrimagnet-based skyrmionic devices.

Effects of lunisolar perturbations on TianQin constellation: An analytical model

TianQin is a proposed space-based gravitational-wave observatory mission that critically relies on the stability of an equilateral-triangle constellation. Comprising three satellites in high Earth orbits of a $ 10^5 $ km radius, this constellation's geometric configuration is significantly affected by gravitational perturbations, primarily originating from the Moon and the Sun. In this paper, we present an analytical model to quantify the effects of lunisolar perturbations on the TianQin constellation, derived using Lagrange's planetary equations. The model provides expressions for three kinematic indicators of the constellation: arm-lengths, relative line-of-sight velocities, and breathing angles. Analysis of these indicators reveals that lunisolar perturbations can distort the constellation triangle, resulting in three distinct variations: linear drift, bias, and fluctuation. Furthermore, it is shown that these distortions can be optimized to display solely fluctuating behavior, under certain predefined conditions. These results can serve as the theoretical foundation for numerical simulations and offer insights for engineering a stable constellation in the future.

Global Rotation of Skyrmion Bags under Vertical Microwave Fields

Magnetic skyrmion bags are composite topological spin textures with arbitrary topological charges. Here, we computationally study the transient rotational motion of skyrmion bags, which is characterized by a global rotation of the inner skyrmions around the central point. Distinct from conventional rotational modes found in skyrmions, the observed rotation is a forced motion associated with the breathing mode induced solely by vertical microwave fields. The driving force behind this rotation originates from the interactions between outer and inner skyrmions, with the angular velocity determined by the phase difference resulting from their asynchronous breathing behaviors. It is also found that skyrmion bags with larger skyrmion numbers are more conducive to the occurrence of the rotation. Our results are useful for understanding the cluster dynamics of complex topological spin textures driven by dynamic fields.

On payload architecture and pointing control strategies for TianQin

TianQin is a proposed mission for space-based gravitational-wave detection that features a triangular constellation in circular high Earth orbits. The mission entails three drag-free controlled satellites and long-range laser interferometry with stringent beam pointing requirements at remote satellites. For the payload architecture and pointing control strategies, having two test masses per satellite, one for each laser arm, and rotating entire opto-mechanical assemblies (each consisting of a telescope, an optical bench, an inertial sensor, etc.) for constellation breathing angle compensation represent an important option for TianQin. In this paper, we examine its applicability from the perspectives of test mass and satellite control in the science mode, taking into account of perturbed orbits and orbital gravity gradients. First, based on the orbit-attitude coupling relationship, the required electrostatic forces and torques for the test mass suspension control are estimated and found to be sufficiently small for the acceleration noise budget. Further optimization favors configuring the centers of masses of the two test masses collinear and equidistant with the center of mass of the satellite, and slightly offsetting the assembly pivots from the electrode housing centers forward along the sensitive axes. Second, the required control forces and torques on the satellites are calculated, and thrust allocation solutions are found under the constraint of having a flat-top sunshield on the satellite with varying solar angles. The findings give a green light to adopting the two test masses and telescope pointing scheme for TianQin.

On point-ahead angle control strategies for TianQin

Pointing-related displacement noises are crucial in space-based gravitational wave detectors, where point-ahead angle control of transmitted laser beams may contribute significantly. For TianQin that features a geocentric concept, the circular high orbit design with a nearly fixed constellation plane gives rise to small variations of the point-ahead angles within $\pm 25$ nrad in-plane and $\pm 10$ nrad off-plane, in addition to a static bias of 23 $μ$rad predominantly within the constellation plane. Accordingly, TianQin may adopt fixed-value compensation for the point-ahead angles and absorb the small and slow variations into the pointing biases. To assess the in-principle feasibility, the far-field tilt-to-length (TTL) coupling effect is discussed, and preliminary requirements on far-field wavefront quality are derived, which have taken into account of TTL noise subtraction capability in post processing. The proposed strategy has benefits in simplifying the interferometry design, payload operation, and TTL noise mitigation for TianQin.

Correlated flat bands in the paramagnetic phase of triangular antiferromagnets Na$_2$BaX(PO$_4$)$_2$ (X = Mn, Co, Ni)

Flat band systems in condensed matter physics are intriguing because they can exhibit exotic phases and unconventional properties. In this work, we studied three correlated magnetic systems, Na$_2$BaX(PO$_4$)$_2$ (X = Mn, Co, Ni), and revealed their unusual electronic structure and magnetic properties. Despite their different effective angular momentum, our first-principles calculations showed a similar electronic structure among them. However, their different valence configurations led to different responses to electronic correlations in the high-temperature paramagnetic phase. Using the dynamical mean-field method, we found that all systems can be understood as a multi-band Hubbard model with Hund'ss coupling. Our calculations of spin susceptibility and the {\it ab-initio} estimation of magnetic exchange coupling indicated strong intra-plane antiferromagnetic coupling and weak inter-plane coupling in all systems. The ground states of these systems are largely degenerate. It is likely that none of these magnetic states would dominate over the others, leading to the possibility of quantum spin liquid states in these systems. Our work unifies the understanding of these three structurally similar systems and opens new avenues for exploring correlated flat bands with distinct electronic and magnetic responses.

Controllable Creation of Skyrmion Bags in a Ferromagnetic Nanodisk

Skyrmion bags are composed of an outer skyrmion and arbitrary inner skyrmions, which have recently been observed in bulk chiral magnets, but still remain elusive in magnetic films. Here, we propose a method of creating skyrmion bags in a thin-film nanodisk, which includes three steps. Firstly, the size of outer skyrmion is enlarged by a vertical magnetic field, then inner skyrmions are nucleated at an off-center area by local current injection, and the system is finally reconstructed due to multiple inter-skyrmion potentials. Thus, skyrmion bags with topological charge up to forty can be created. Simulated Lorentz transmission electron microscopy images are given to facilitate the experimental demonstration. Our proposal is expected to inspire relevant experiments in magnetic films, and pave the way for potential spintronic applications based on skyrmion bags.

Doppler effect in TianQin time-delay interferometry

The current design of space-based gravitational wave detectors utilizes heterodyne laser interferometry in inter-satellite science measurements. Frequency variations of the heterodyne beatnotes are predominantly caused by the Doppler effect from relative satellite motion along lines of sight. Generally considered to be outside the measurement band, this Doppler frequency shift appears to have been overlooked in numerical simulations of time-delay interferometry (TDI). However, the potential impact on the implementation of TDI should be assessed. The issue is particularly relevant to TianQin that features geocentric orbits, because of strong gravity disturbances from the Earth-Moon system at frequencies $<1\times 10^{-4}$ Hz. In this proof-of-principle study, based on high-precision orbital data obtained from detailed gravity field modeling, we incorporate the Doppler shift in the generation of TianQin's beatnote phase signals. To remove the large-scale Doppler phase drift at frequencies $<1\times 10^{-4}$ Hz, we develop a high-performance high-pass filter and consider two possible processing sequences, i.e., applying the filter before or after TDI combinations. Our simulation results favor the former and demonstrate successful removal of the low-frequency gravity disturbances for TianQin without degrading the TDI performance, assuming 10 m pseudo-ranging uncertainty. The filtering scheme can be used in developing the initial noise-reduction pipeline for TianQin.

Effect of Earth-Moon's gravity on TianQin's range acceleration noise. III. An analytical model

TianQin is a proposed space-based gravitational wave detector designed to operate in circular high Earth orbits. As a sequel to [Zhang et al. Phys. Rev. D 103, 062001 (2021)], this work provides an analytical model to account for the perturbing effect of the Earth's gravity field on the range acceleration noise between two TianQin satellites. For such an ``orbital noise,'' the Earth's contribution dominates above $5\times 10^{-5}$ Hz in the frequency spectrum, and the noise calibration and mitigation, if needed, can benefit from in-depth noise modeling. Our model derivation is based on Kaula's theory of satellite gravimetry with Fourier-style decomposition, and uses circular reference orbits as an approximation. To validate the model, we compare the analytical and numerical results in two main scenarios. First, in the case of the Earth's static gravity field, both noise spectra are shown to agree well with each other at various orbital inclinations and radii, confirming our previous numerical work while providing more insight. Second, the model is extended to incorporate the Earth's time-variable gravity. Particularly relevant to TianQin, we augment the formulas to capture the disturbance from the Earth's free oscillations triggered by earthquakes, of which the mode frequencies enter TianQin's measurement band above 0.1 mHz. The analytical model may find applications in gravity environment monitoring and noise-reduction pipelines for TianQin.

Probing hidden Mott gap and incommensurate charge modulation on the polar surfaces of PdCrO$_2$

Here we report a combined study of low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) on PdCrO$_2$, a delafossite metal with an antiferromagnetic order below ~37.5 K. First, on the CrO$_2$-terminated polar surface we detect a gap-like feature both below and above the Néel temperature. The DMFT calculations indicate that this gap is opened due to the strong correlations of Cr-3d electrons, suggesting the hidden Mott nature of the gap. Then, we observe two kinds of Pd-terminated polar surfaces. One is a well-ordered Pd surface with the Fermi-surface-nesting-induced incommensurate charge modulation, while the other one is a reconstructed Pd surface with the individual nano-scale non-periodic domain structures. On the well-ordered Pd surface, the interference between the incommensurate charge modulation and the atomic lattice forms the periodic moiré pattern. Our results provide important microscopic information for fully understanding the correlated electronic properties of this class of materials.
