Production of the bottomonium-like states $Z_b$ states at $e$-$h$ and ultraperipheral $h$-$h$ collisions

The photoproduction of bottomonium-like states $Z_{b}(10610)$ and $Z_{b}(10650)$ via $γp$ scattering is studied within an effectiv Lagrangian approach and the vector-meson-dominance model. The Regge model is employed to calculate the photoproduction of $Z_{b}$ states via $t$-channel with $π$ exchange. The numerical results show that the values of the total cross-sections of $Z_{b}(10610)$ and $Z_{b}(10650)$ can reach 0.09 nb and 0.02 nb, respectively, near the center of mass energy of 22 GeV. The experimental measurements and studies on the photoproduction of $Z_{b}$ states near energy region around $W\simeq 22$ GeV is suggested. Moreover, with the help of eSTARlight and STARlight programs, one obtains the cross-sections and event numbers of $Z_{b}(10610)$ production in electron-ion collision (EIC) and Ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs). The results show that a considerable number of events from $Z_{b}(10610)$ can be produced on the relevant experiments of EICs and UPCs. Also, one calculates the rates and kinematic distributions for $γp\rightarrow Z_{b}n$ in $ep$ and $pA$ collisions via EICs and UPCs, and the relevant results will provide an important reference for the RHIC, LHC, EIC-US, LHeC, and FCC experiments to search for the bottomonium-like $Z_{b}$ states.

Proton Shell Structure

We study the internal structure of the proton and propose a shell structure model of the proton. Based on the mass distribution and mass radius of proton we analyze the experiments at different energy scales and conclude that there should be shell structure inside proton, and the quark and gluon shells are energy-scale-dependent. We successfully explain the dip-like structure in the proton-proton elastic scattering cross section distribution from TOTEM Collaboration using the mass decomposition of proton and the proton shell structure at different energy scales.

Novel Neutron Star Structures with Nucleon Mass Radius

In order to reveal the difference between the latest neutron star observation experiment GW170817 and the existing theory, we mainly consider the effect of the nucleon radius on the neutron star from the existing theory. We believe that the effect of nucleon radius in neutron star is not negligible, and the mass radius of nucleon should be used instead of the charge radius. The nucleon mass radius is set as $r_m = 0.55\pm0.09$ fm from the new measurements. It is considered as an input to the "Excluded Volume Effects" model in the equation of state of nuclear matter. We propose a novel neutron star mass-radius relation by using proton mass radius is consistent with the observation GW170817.

Determination of the Gluonic D-term and Mechanical Radii of Proton from Experimental data

We apply a "color" tripole ansatz for describing the $D$-term of the proton. By fitting the experimental data of the vector meson J/$ψ$ and $ϕ$ photoproductions near the thresholds, we firstly obtained the gluonic $D$-term of the proton. $D_g(0)$ is estimated to be $-2.16\pm0.42$ for J/$ψ$ and $-1.31\pm0.48$ for $ϕ$, and the mechanical root mean square radius of proton is estimated to be $0.61\pm0.29$ fm for $ϕ$ and $0.42\pm0.11$ fm for J/$ψ$.

JUNO Physics and Detector

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a 20 kton LS detector at 700-m underground. An excellent energy resolution and a large fiducial volume offer exciting opportunities for addressing many important topics in neutrino and astro-particle physics. With 6 years of data, the neutrino mass ordering can be determined at 3-4 sigma and three oscillation parameters can be measured to a precision of 0.6% or better by detecting reactor antineutrinos. With 10 years of data, DSNB could be observed at 3-sigma; a lower limit of the proton lifetime of 8.34e33 years (90% C.L.) can be set by searching for p->nu_bar K^+; detection of solar neutrinos would shed new light on the solar metallicity problem and examine the vacuum-matter transition region. A core-collapse supernova at 10 kpc would lead to ~5000 IBD and ~2000 (300) all-flavor neutrino-proton (electron) scattering events. Geo-neutrinos can be detected with a rate of ~400 events/year. We also summarize the final design of the JUNO detector and the key R&D achievements. All 20-inch PMTs have been tested. The average photon detection efficiency is 28.9% for the 15,000 MCP PMTs and 28.1% for the 5,000 dynode PMTs, higher than the JUNO requirement of 27%. Together with the >20 m attenuation length of LS, we expect a yield of 1345 p.e. per MeV and an effective energy resolution of 3.02%/\sqrt{E (MeV)}$ in simulations. The underwater electronics is designed to have a loss rate <0.5% in 6 years. With degassing membranes and a micro-bubble system, the radon concentration in the 35-kton water pool could be lowered to <10 mBq/m^3. Acrylic panels of radiopurity <0.5 ppt U/Th are produced. The 20-kton LS will be purified onsite. Singles in the fiducial volume can be controlled to ~10 Hz. The JUNO experiment also features a double calorimeter system with 25,600 3-inch PMTs, a LS testing facility OSIRIS, and a near detector TAO.

Extraction of the proton mass radius from the vector meson photoproductions near thresholds

We present an analysis of the proton mass radius by studying the $t$-dependence of the differential cross sections of the vector meson photoproductions near the thresholds. At low energy, the photoproduction of a quarkonium off the proton is connected to the scalar gravitational form factor of the proton, which is sensitive to the proton mass distribution from the QCD trace anomaly. Under an assumption of the scalar form factor of dipole form, the proton mass radius is extracted via the near-threshold photoproduction data of J/$ψ$, $ϕ$ and $ω$ vector mesons. The average value of the proton mass radius is estimated to be $\sqrt{\left } = 0.67\pm0.03$ fm, with the dipole cutoff $m_{\rm s}=1.01\pm0.04$ GeV.

The light front wave functions and diffractive electroproduction of vector mesons

We determine the leading Fock-state light front wave functions (LF-LFWFs) of the $ρ$ and J/$ψ$ mesons, for the first time from the Dyson-Schwinger and Bethe-Salpeter equations (DS-BSEs) approach. A unique advantage of this method is that it renders a direct extraction of LF-LFWFs in presence of a number of higher Fock-states. Modulated by the current quark mass and driven by the dynamical chiral symmetry breaking (DCSB), we find the $ρ$ and $J/ψ$ LF-LFWFs different in profile, i.e., the former are broadly distributed in $x$ (the longitudinal light-cone momentum fraction of meson carried by quark) while the latter are narrow. Moreover, the $ρ$ LF-LFWFs contribute less than 50% to the total Fock-state normalization, suggesting considerable higher Fock-states in $ρ$. We then use these LF-LFWFs to study the diffractive $ρ$ and $J/ψ$ electroproduction within the dipole picture. The calculated cross section shows general agreement with HEAR data, except for growing discrepancy in $ρ$ production at low photon virtuality. Our work provides a first dipole picture analysis on diffractive $ρ$ electroproduction that confronts the parton nature of the light (anti)quarks.

Simulation of the neutron-tagged deep inelastic scattering at EicC

Measuring the pionic structure function is of high interests as it provides a new area for understanding the strong interaction among quarks and testing the QCD predictions. To this purpose, we investigate the feasibility and the expected impacts of a possible experiment on EicC. We show the simulation results on the statistical precision of an EicC measurement, based on the model of leading neutron tagged DIS process and the parton distribution functions of the pion from JAM18 global analysis. The simulation shows that at EicC, the kinematics cover $x_π$ range from 0.01 to 1, and $Q^2$ range from 1 GeV$^2$ to 50 GeV$^2$, within the acceptable statistical uncertainty. Assuming an integrated luminosity of 50 fb$^{-1}$, in the low-$Q^{2}$ region ($<10$ GeV$^2$), the MC data show that the suggested measurement in the whole $x_{\rmπ}$ range reaches very high precision ($<3$\%). To perform such an experiment, only the addition of a far-forward neutron calorimeter is needed.

An Analysis of Parton Distribution Functions of the Pion and the Kaon with the Maximum Entropy Input

We present pion and kaon parton distribution functions from a global QCD analysis of the experimental data within the framework of dynamical parton model. We use the DGLAP equations with parton-parton recombination corrections and the valence input of uniform distribution which maximizes the information entropy. At our input scale $Q_0^2$, there are no sea quark and gluon distributions. All the sea quarks and gluons of the pion and the kaon are completely generated from the parton splitting processes. The mass-dependent parton splitting kernel is applied for the strange quark distribution in the kaon. The obtained valence quark and sea quark distributions at high $Q^{2}$ ($Q^2>5$ GeV$^2$) are compatible with the existed experimental measurements. Furthermore, the asymptotic behaviours of parton distribution functions at small and large $x$ have been studied for both the pion and the kaon. Lastly, the first three moments of parton distributions at high $Q^{2}$ scale are calculated, which are consistent with other theoretical predictions.

The Design and Sensitivity of JUNO's scintillator radiopurity pre-detector OSIRIS

The OSIRIS detector is a subsystem of the liquid scintillator fillling chain of the JUNO reactor neutrino experiment. Its purpose is to validate the radiopurity of the scintillator to assure that all components of the JUNO scintillator system work to specifications and only neutrino-grade scintillator is filled into the JUNO Central Detector. The aspired sensitivity level of $10^{-16}$ g/g of $^{238}$U and $^{232}$Th requires a large ($\sim$20 m$^3$) detection volume and ultralow background levels. The present paper reports on the design and major components of the OSIRIS detector, the detector simulation as well as the measuring strategies foreseen and the sensitivity levels to U/Th that can be reached in this setup.

Production of hidden-charm and hidden-bottom pentaquark states in electron-proton collisions

Electro-production of several pentaquark states is investigated in this paper. eSTARlight package is adapted to study the electro-production of $J/ψ$ and $Υ(1S)$ via pentaquark $P_c$ and $P_b$ resonance channels in $e p \to e eJ/ψp$ and $e p \to eΥ(1S) p$ scattering processes at proposed electron-ion colliders (EICs). The results in this paper are compared to the non-resonance $t$-channels, which is described in pomeron exchange model in our studies. Some pseudo-rapidity distributions rapidity distributions of $J/ψ$ and $Υ(1S)$ are presented for proposed EICs including EicC and EIC-US. It is found that EicC is a good platform to identify $P_b$ states in the future.

An Analytical Solution of the Balitsky-Kovchegov Equation with the Homogeneous Balance Method

Nonlinear QCD evolution equations are essential tools in understanding the saturation of partons at small Bjorken $x_{\rm B}$, as they are supposed to restore an upper bound of unitarity for the cross section of high energy scattering. In this paper, we present an analytical solution of Balitsky-Kovchegov (BK) equation using the homogeneous balance method. The obtained analytical solution is similar to the solution of a traveling wave. By matching the gluon distribution in the dilute region which is determined from the global analysis of experimental data (CT14 analysis), we get a definitive solution of the dipole-proton forward scattering amplitude in the momentum space. Based on the acquired scattering amplitude and the behavior of geometric scaling, we present also a new estimated saturation scale $Q_s^2(x)$.

Electron-Ion Collider in China

Lepton scattering is an established ideal tool for studying inner structure of small particles such as nucleons as well as nuclei. As a future high energy nuclear physics project, an Electron-ion collider in China (EicC) has been proposed. It will be constructed based on an upgraded heavy-ion accelerator, High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) which is currently under construction, together with a new electron ring. The proposed collider will provide highly polarized electrons (with a polarization of $\sim$80%) and protons (with a polarization of $\sim$70%) with variable center of mass energies from 15 to 20 GeV and the luminosity of (2-3) $\times$ 10$^{33}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$. Polarized deuterons and Helium-3, as well as unpolarized ion beams from Carbon to Uranium, will be also available at the EicC. The main foci of the EicC will be precision measurements of the structure of the nucleon in the sea quark region, including 3D tomography of nucleon; the partonic structure of nuclei and the parton interaction with the nuclear environment; the exotic states, especially those with heavy flavor quark contents. In addition, issues fundamental to understanding the origin of mass could be addressed by measurements of heavy quarkonia near-threshold production at the EicC. In order to achieve the above-mentioned physics goals, a hermetical detector system will be constructed with cutting-edge technologies. This document is the result of collective contributions and valuable inputs from experts across the globe. The EicC physics program complements the ongoing scientific programs at the Jefferson Laboratory and the future EIC project in the United States. The success of this project will also advance both nuclear and particle physics as well as accelerator and detector technology in China.

The Mass of Short-Range Correlated Nucleon

The nucleon properties and structure should be modified by short-range correlations (SRC) among nucleons. By analyzing SRC ratio data, we extract the mass of nucleon in the SRC pair and the expected number of pn-SRC pairs in deuterium, under the assumption that the SRC nucleon mass is universal in different nuclei. The nucleon mass of a two-nucleon SRC pair is $m_{\text{SRC}}=852\pm 18$ MeV, and the number of pn-SRC pairs in deuterium is $n^{\text{d}}_{\text{SRC}}=0.021\pm 0.005$. The mass deficit of the strongly overlapping nucleon can be explained by the trace anomaly contribution to the mass in QCD or alternatively by the vacuum energy in the MIT bag model.

Calibration Strategy of the JUNO Experiment

We present the calibration strategy for the 20 kton liquid scintillator central detector of the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO). By utilizing a comprehensive multiple-source and multiple-positional calibration program, in combination with a novel dual calorimetry technique exploiting two independent photosensors and readout systems, we demonstrate that the JUNO central detector can achieve a better than 1% energy linearity and a 3% effective energy resolution, required by the neutrino mass ordering determination.

A comparison of condensate mass of QCD vacuum between Wilson line approach and Schwinger effect

By duality approach, we study condensate mass of QCD vacuum via dilaton wall background in presence of parameter $c$ which represents the gluon condensation in holographic set up. First from Wilson line calculation we find $m^2_0$ (condensate parameter in mixed nonlocal condensation) whose behavior mimics that of QCD. The value of $m^2_0$ that we find by this approach, is in agreement with QCD data. In the second step we consider produced mass m via Schwinger effect mechanism in presence of parameter $c$. We show that generally gluon condensation contribute mass dominantly and produced mass via Schwinger effect is suppressed by $m_0$ .

Production of vector mesons in pentaquark states resonance channel in $p$-$A$ ultraperipheral collisions

Ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs) of protons and nuclei are important for the study of the photoproduction of vector mesons and exotic states. The photoproduction of vector mesons in the pentaquark resonance channel in $p\mbox{-}Au$ UPCs at the Relative Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and $p$-$Pb$ UPCs at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is investigated by employing STARlight package. The cross sections of vector mesons via pentaquark state resonances channel are obtained using effective Lagrangian method. The pseudo-rapidity and rapidity distributions of $J/ψ$ and $Υ(1S) $ are given for $p\mbox{-}Au$ UPCs at the RHIC and $p$-$Pb$ at the LHC. It is found that the RHIC is a better platform for discovering the pentaquark states than the LHC. Moreover, $P_{b}(11080)$ is easier to identify than $P_c(4312)$ because the background of $Υ(1S)$ is weaker than $J/ψ$ in the $t$-channel at the RHIC.
