Multiplexed ion-ion entanglement over $1.2$ kilometer fibers

Quantum networks and quantum repeaters represent the promising avenues for building large-scale quantum information systems, serving as foundational infrastructure for distributed quantum computing, long-distance quantum communication, and networked quantum sensing. A critical step in realizing a functional quantum network is the efficient and high-fidelity establishment of heralded entanglement between remote quantum nodes. Multiplexing offers a powerful strategy to accelerate remote entanglement distribution, particularly over long optical fibers. Here, we demonstrate the first multiplexing-enhanced heralded entanglement between two trapped-ion quantum network nodes. By multiplexing $10$ temporal photonic modes, we achieve a 4.59-fold speedup in ion-ion entanglement generation and attain an entanglement fidelity of $95.9\pm1.5\%$ over $1.2$ km of fiber. Employing a dual-type architecture, our system is readily scalable to multiple nodes, thereby establishing a key building block for future large-scale quantum networks.

Hysteresis and training effect in the electric control of spin current in Pt/Y3Fe5O12 heterostructures

We have reported on the hysteresis and training effect of spin current in Pt/Y3Fe5O12 heterostructures during subsequent cycles of ionic liquid gate voltage Vg. The inverse spin Hall effect voltage in spin pumping and spin Hall magnetoresistance exhibit diode-like behaviors in the first half cycle of Vg andalsoshowhysteresisinthe first cycle of Vg. Both the diode-like behavior and the hysteresis become weak and even vanish in the second cycle of Vg due to the training effect. The above experimental results can be well explained by the screening charge doping model, in which the charge and the local magnetic moment are asymmetrically distributed in the Pt layer. The applicability of this model is further confirmed by measurements of anisotropic magnetoresistance and ferromagnetic resonance. The diode-like behavior is attributed to interplay between the asymmetrically distributed local magnetic moment and the spin current relaxation in the Pt layer. The hysteresis and the training effect arise from the incompletely reversible process between oxidation and reduction of Pt atoms and the evolution of the surface morphology at the ionic liquid/Pt interface under electric gating. This work provides new insights to improve the functional performance of electrically controlled spin current devices.

Quantum heat engine with continuum working medium

We introduce a new quantum heat engine, in which the working medium is a quantum system with a discrete level and a continuum. Net work done by this engine is calculated and discussed. The results show that this quantum heat engine behaves like the two-level quantum heat engine in both the high-temperature and the low-temperature limits, but it operates differently in temperatures between them. The efficiency of this quantum heat engine is also presented and discussed.
