Cosmological Singularities in Brane Gravity

We present a comprehensive study of cosmological singularities within the framework of Covariant Extrinsic Gravity (CEG), addressing both the initial Big Bang singularity and potential finite-time future singularities. Through detailed analysis of the emergent universe scenario, we systematically examine homogeneous and inhomogeneous perturbations (encompassing scalar, vector, and tensor modes) in a 4D FLRW brane geometry. Our work establishes rigorous existence criteria and stability conditions for a nonsingular Einstein static initial state, demonstrating that such a configuration remains stable for well-defined parameter ranges in CEG - thereby providing a compelling resolution to the long-standing initial singularity problem. Extending our analysis to late-time cosmology, we perform a complete classification of future singularity types following Barrow et al.'s formalism, deriving precise conditions that determine whether the universe in CEG evolves toward or avoids these singular states.

Entropic considerations on the Universe and Universe-Black Hole Systems

We study the entropic considerations on the Universe system and the Universe-Black hole system, filled by cosmological constant or exotic quintessence-like and phantom-like fields having negative pressure, using their relevant entropic bounds. It turns out that for both systems these considerations single out the cosmological constant, among the negative pressure candidate fields, as the viable cosmological field.

D-bound and Bekenstein Bound for the Surrounded Vaidya Black Hole

We study the Vaidya black hole surrounded by the exotic quintessence-like, phantom-like and cosmological constant-like fields by means of entropic considerations. Explicitly, we show that for this thermodynamical system, the requirement for the identification of D-bound and Bekenstein entropy bound can be considered as a thermodynamical criterion by which one can rule out the quintessence-like and phantom-like fields, and prefer the cosmological constant as a viþable cosmological field.

D-bound and Bekenstein bound for McVittie solution surrounded by dark energy cosmological fields

The cosmological candidate fields for dark energy as quintessence, phantom and cosmological constant, are studied in terms of an entropic hypothesis imposed on the McVittie solution surrounded by dark energy. We certify this hypothesis as "$D$-bound-Bekenstein bound identification" for dilute systems and use it as a criterion to determine which candidate of dark energy can satisfy this criterion for a dilute McVittie solution. It turns out that only the cosmological constant can pass this criterion successfully while the quintessence and phantom fields fail, as non-viable dark energy fields for this particular black hole solution. Moreover, assuming this black hole to possess the saturated entropy, the entropy-area law and the holographic principle can put two constraints on the radius $R$ of the cosmological horizon. The first one shows that the Hubble radius is discrete such that for any arbitrary value of the black hole mass $m_{0}$, the value of $R$ is determined up to an integer number. The latter one shows that when a black hole is immersed in a cosmological background, the radius of the cosmological horizon is constrained as $R<\frac{1}{H}$.

Black hole solutions and Euler equation in Rastall and generalized Rastall theories of gravity

Focusing on the special case of generalized Rastall theory, as a subclass of the non-minimal curvature-matter coupling theories in which the field equations are mathematically similar to the Einstein field equations in the presence of cosmological constant, we find two classes of black hole (BH) solutions including $i$) conformally flat solutions and $ii$) non-singular BHs. Accepting the mass function definition and by using the entropy contents of the solutions along with thermodynamic definitions of temperature and pressure, we study the validity of Euler equation on the corresponding horizons. Our results show that the thermodynamic pressure, meeting the Euler equation, is not always equal to the pressure components appeared in the gravitational field equations and satisfies the first law of thermodynamics, a result which in fact depends on the presumed energy definition. The requirements of having solutions with equal thermodynamic and Hawking temperatures are also studied. Additionally, we study the conformally flat BHs in the Rastall framework. The consequences of employing generalized Misner-Sharp mass in studying the validity of the Euler equation are also addressed.

Bousso's Covariant Entropy Bound and Padmanabhan's Emergent Universe

We study the Padmanabhan's emergent Universe in the context of Bousso's covariant entropy conjecture. We find that for a flat Universe, this conjecture can be applied for the system of Padmanabhan's emergent Universe. It turns out that the maximum "bulk entropy" of Padmanabhan's emergent Universe coincides with the upper bound of Bousso's covariant entropy on the null surface defined by Hubble horizon, provided that the Universe is just filled by the cosmological constant or radiation field which represent maximal entropy during inflation and subsequent radiation dominant era. This maximal entropy is lost by the appearance of matter system in the Universe at matter dominant era. Applying D-bound on the matter system in the Padmanabhan's emergent Universe, we find that the apparent cosmological horizon of a flat Universe in matter dominant era has less area and entropy than those (maximal) of apparent cosmological horizon of an empty de-Sitter space, in complete agreement with our conclusion. The maximal area and entropy in the Padmanabhan's emergent Universe are recovered "as soon as possible" by transition from matter dominant to cosmological constant eras, provided that the matter inside the Universe is moved completely outward the apparent cosmological horizon in "an accelerating way" at late times.

Surrounded Vaidya Solution by Cosmological Fields

In the present work, we study the general surrounded Vaidya solution by the various cosmological fields and its nature describing the possibility of the formation of naked singularities or black holes. Motivated by the fact that real astrophysical black holes as non-stationary and non-isolated objects are living in non-empty backgrounds, we focus on the black hole subclasses of this general solution describing a dynamical evaporating-accreting black holes in the dynamical cosmological backgrounds of dust, radiation, quintessence, cosmological constant-like and phantom fields, the so called surrounded Vaidya black hole. Then, we analyze the timelike geodesics associated with the obtained surrounded black holes and we find that some new correction terms arise relative to the case of Schwarzschild black hole. Also, we address some of the subclasses of the obtained surrounded black hole solution for both dynamical and stationary limits. Moreover, we classify the obtained solutions according to their behaviors under imposing the positive energy condition and discuss how this condition imposes some severe and important restrictions on the black hole and its background field dynamics.

Surrounded Vaidya black holes: apparent horizon properties

We study the thermodynamical features and dynamical evolutions of various apparent horizons associated with the Vaidya evaporating black hole surrounded by the cosmological fields of dust, radiation, quintessence, cosmological constant-like and phantom. In this regard, we address in detail how do these surrounding fields contribute to the characteristic features of a surrounded dynamical black hole in comparison to a dynamical black hole in an empty background.

Einstein and Rastall Theories of Gravitation in Comparison

We profit by a recent paper of Visser claiming that Rastall gravity is equivalent to Einstein gravity to compare the two gravitational theories in a general way. Our conclusions are different from Visser's ones. We indeed argue that these two theories are not equivalent. In fact, Rastall theory of gravity is an "open" theory when compared to Einstein general theory of relativity. Thus, it is ready to accept the challenges of observational cosmology and quantum gravity.

Emergent Cosmos in Einstein-Cartan Theory

Based on the Padmanabhan's proposal, the accelerated expansion of the universe can be driven by the difference between the surface and bulk degrees of freedom in a region of space, described by the relation $dV/dt=N_{sur}-N_{bulk}$ where $N_{sur}$ and $N_{bulk}=-N_{em}+N_{de}$ are the degrees of freedom assigned to the surface area and the matter-energy content inside the bulk such that the indexes $"em"$ and $"de"$ represent energy-momentum and dark energy, respectively. In the present work, the dynamical effect of the Weyssenhoff perfect fluid with intrinsic spin and its corresponding spin degrees of freedom in the framework of Einstein-Cartan (EC) theory are investigated. Based on the modification of Friedmann equations due to the spin-spin interactions, a correction term for the Padmanabhan's original relation $dV/dt=N_{sur}+N_{em}-N_{de}$ including the number of degrees of freedom related to this spin interactions is obtained through the modification in $N_{bulk}$ term as $N_{bulk}=-N_{em}+N_{spin}+N_{de}$ leading to $dV /d t=N_{sur}+N_{em}-N_{spin} -N_{de}$ in which $N_{spin}$ is the corresponding degrees of freedom related to the intrinsic spin of the matter content of the universe. Moreover, the validity of the unified first law and the generalized second law of thermodynamics for the Einstein-Cartan cosmos are investigated. Finally, by considering the covariant entropy conjecture and the bound resulting from the emergent scenario, a total entropy bound is obtained. Using this bound, it is shown that the for the universe as an expanding thermodynamical system, the total effective Komar energy never exceeds the square of the expansion rate with a factor of $\frac{3}{4π}$.

Braneworld Black Holes and Entropy Bounds

The Bousso's D-bound entropy for the various possible black hole solutions on a 4-dimensional brane is checked. It is found that the D-bound entropy here is apparently different from that of obtained for the 4-dimensional black hole solutions. This difference is interpreted as the extra loss of information, associated to the extra dimension, when an extra-dimensional black hole is moved outward the observer's cosmological horizon. Also, it is discussed that N-bound entropy is hold for the possible solutions here. Finally, by adopting the recent Bohr-like approach to black hole quantum physics for the excited black holes, the obtained results are written also in terms of the black hole excited states.

Einstein Static Universe in Rastall Theory of Gravity

We investigate stability of the Einstein static solution against homogeneous scalar, vector and tensor perturbations in the context of Rastall theory of gravity. We show that this solution in the presence of perfect fluid and vacuum energy originating from conformally-invariant fields is stable. Using the fix point method and taking linear homogeneous perturbations, we find that the scale factor of Einstein static universe for closed deformed isotropic and homogeneous FLRW universe depends on the coupling parameter $λ$ between the energy-momentum tensor and the gradient of Ricci scalar. Thus, in the present model and in presence of vacuum energy, our universe can stay at the Einstein static state past-eternally, which means that the big bang singularity may be resolved successfully in the context of Einstein static universe in Rastall theory.

Black Hole Solutions Surrounded by Perfect Fluid in Rastall Theory

In this work, we obtain uncharged\charged Kiselev-like black holes as a new class of black hole solutions surrounded by perfect fluid in the context of Rastall theory. Then, we study the specific cases of the uncharged\charged black holes surrounded by regular matter like dust and radiation, or exotic matter like quintessence, cosmological constant and phantom fields. By comparing the Kiselev-like black hole solutions in Rastall theory with the Kiselev black hole solutions in GR, we find an effective perfect fluid behaviour for the black hole's surrounding field. It is shown that the corresponding effective perfect fluid has interesting characteristic features depending on the different ranges of the parameters in Rastall theory. For instance, Kiselev-like black holes surrounded by regular matter in Rastall theory may be considered as Kiselev black holes surrounded by exotic matter in GR, or Kiselev-like black holes surrounded by exotic matter in Rastall theory may be considered as Kiselev black holes surrounded by regular matter in GR.

A Generalization to the Rastall Theory and Cosmic Eras

A generalized version for the Rastall theory is proposed showing the agreement with the cosmic accelerating expansion. In this regard, a coupling between geometry and the pressureless matter fields is derived which may play the role of dark energy responsible for the current accelerating expansion phase. Moreover, our study also shows that the radiation field may not be coupled to the geometry in a non-minimal way which represents that the ordinary energy-momentum conservation law is respected by the radiation source. It is also shown that the primary inflationary era may be justified by the ability of the geometry to couple to the energy-momentum source in an empty flat FRW universe. In fact, this ability is independent of the existence of the energy-momentum source and may compel the empty flat FRW universe to expand exponentially. Finally, we consider a flat FRW universe field by a spatially homogeneous scalar field evolving in potential $\mathcal{V}(ϕ)$, and study the results of applying the slow-roll approximation to the system which may lead to an inflationary phase for the universe expansion.

Deformed Horava-Lifshitz Cosmology and Stability of Einstein Static Universe

Stability of the Einstein static universe versus the linear scalar, vector and tensor perturbations is investigated in the context of deformed Hořava-Lifshitz cosmology inspired by entropic force scenario. A general stability condition against the linear scalar perturbations is obtained. Using this general condition, it is shown that there is no stable Einstein static universe for the case of flat universe, $k=0$. For the the special case of large values of running parameter of HL gravity $ω$, in a positively curved universe $k>0$, the domination of the quintessence and phantom matter fields with barotropic equation of state parameter $β<-\frac{1}{3}$ is necessary while for a negatively curved universe $k<0$, the matter fields with $β> -\frac{1}{3}$ are needed to be the dominant fields of the universe. Also, a neutral stability against the vector perturbations is obtained. Finally, an inequality including the cosmological parameters of the Einstein static universe is obtained for the stability against the tensor perturbations. It turns out that for large $ω$ values, there is a stability against the tensor perturbations.

Black Hole Solutions in Rastall Theory

The Reissner-Nordström black hole solution in a generic cosmological constant background in the the context of Rastall gravity is obtained. It is shown that the cosmological constant arises naturally from the consistency of the non-vacuum field equations of the Rastall theory for a spherical symmetric spacetime, rather than its {\it ad-hoc} introduction in the usual Einstein and Einstein-Maxwell field equations. The usual Reissner-Nordström, Schwarzschild and Schwarzschild-(anti)de Sitter black hole solutions in the framework of this theory are also addressed as the special independent subclasses of the obtained general solution.

Einstein static universe on the brane supported by extended Chaplygin gas

We study the cosmological models in which an extended Chaplygin gas universe is merged with the braneworld scenario. In particular, we examine the realization of Einstein static universe on the brane embedded in a non-constant curvature bulk space and perform a detailed perturbation analysis. We extract the stability conditions and find their impacts on the geometric equation of state parameter and the spatial curvature of the universe.

Emergent Universe in the Braneworld Scenario

According to Padmanabhan's proposal, the difference between the surface degrees of freedom and the bulk degrees of freedom in a region of space may result in the acceleration of Universe expansion through the relation $ΔV/Δt = N_{\rm sur}-N_{\rm bulk}$ where $N_{\rm bulk}$ and $N_{\rm sur}$ are referred to the degrees of freedom related to the matter and energy content inside the bulk and surface area, respectively \cite{Pad1}. In this paper, we study the dynamical effect of the extrinsic geometrical embedding of an arbitrary four dimensional brane in a higher dimensional bulk space and investigate the corresponding degrees of freedom. Considering the modification of Friedmann equations arising from a general braneworld scenario, we obtain a correction term in Padmanabhan's relation, denoting the number of degrees of freedom related to the extrinsic geometry of the brane embedded in higher dimensional spacetime as $ΔV /Δt=N_{\rm sur}-N_{\rm bulk}-N_{\rm extr}$ where $N_{\rm extr}$ is referred to the degree of freedom related to the extrinsic geometry of the brane while $N_{\rm sur}$ and $N_{\rm bulk}$ are as well as before. Finally, we study the validity of the first and second laws of thermodynamics for this general braneworld scenario in the state of thermal equilibrium and in the presence of confined matter fields to the brane with the induced geometric matter fields.
