Searches for New Physics in the Top Sector at the Tevatron

The top quark, discovered in 1995 by the CDF and D0 collaborations at the Tevatron collider at Fermilab, is the heaviest known elementary particle today. Due to its high mass and short lifetime, the top quark plays a special role in searching for physics beyond the Standard Model. In this article, recent results of searches for new physics in the top sector, performed by CDF and D0, are presented. In particular, we discuss the search for ttbar resonances, for tj resonances, the search for heavy fourth generation quarks, for dark matter produced in association with single tops, the study of anomalous couplings, the search for boosted top quarks as well as the analysis of Lorentz Invariance violation in the top quark sector.

Strangephilic Higgs Bosons in the MSSM

We suggest a new CPX-derived scenario for the search of strangephilic MSSM Higgs bosons at the Tevatron and the LHC, in which all neutral and charged Higgs bosons decay predominantly into pairs of strange quarks and into a strange and a charm quark, respectively. The proposed scenario is realized within a particular region of the MSSM parameter space and requires large values of tan(beta), where threshold radiative corrections are significant to render the effective strange-quark Yukawa coupling dominant. Experimental searches for neutral Higgs bosons based on the identification of b-quark jets or tau leptons may miss a strangephilic Higgs boson and its existence could be inferred indirectly by searching for hadronically decaying charged Higgs bosons. Potential strategies and experimental challenges to search for strangephilic Higgs bosons at the Tevatron and the LHC are discussed.

Search for charged Higgs Bosons at D0

In both Supersymmetry and in generic Two Higgs Doublet models (2HDM), the charged Higgs boson $H^+- exhibits a unique phenomenological signature. We report on a search for charged Higgs bosons, performed using 0.9 fb^-1 of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppbar collider with a center-of-mass energy of \sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. No evidence for a charged Higgs boson is found and we set limits on its production cross section or the branching fraction.

Results on Top Quark Physics at D0

In 1995, the top quark was discovered at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider by the CDF and D0 collaborations in the ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV using about 50pb^-1 of data per experiment. We present the studies of the top quark properties based on 1fb^-1 of data collected by the D0 experiment at a center of mass energy of 1.96TeV. The increased statistics and higher collision energy allow to perform precision measurements of the top quark production and decay characteristics and open the possibility to probe physics beyond the Standard Model in the top quark sector. The presentation mainly focuses on the measurement of the top pair production cross section and branching fraction of the top quark decays, a search for ttbar resonances, and the measurement of the top quark pair production cross section ratio and its interpretation in terms of new physics.
