Unsupervised Topological Phase Discovery in Periodically Driven Systems via Floquet-Bloch State

Floquet engineering offers an unparalleled platform for realizing novel non-equilibrium topological phases. However, the unique structure of Floquet systems, which includes multiple quasienergy gaps, poses a significant challenge to classification using conventional analytical methods. We propose a novel unsupervised machine learning framework that employs a kernel defined in momentum-time ($\boldsymbol{k},t$) space, constructed directly from Floquet-Bloch eigenstates. This approach is intrinsically data-driven and requires no prior knowledge of the underlying topological invariants, providing a fundamental advantage over prior methods that rely on abstract concepts like the micromotion operator or homotopic transformations. Crucially, this work successfully reveals the intrinsic topological characteristics encoded within the Floquet eigenstates themselves. We demonstrate that our method robustly and simultaneously identifies the topological invariants associated with both the $0$-gap and the $\pi$-gap across various symmetry classes (1D AIII, 1D D, and 2D A), establishing a robust methodology for the systematic classification and discovery of complex non-equilibrium topological matter.

Transverse optical binding for a dual dipolar dielectric nanoparticle dimer

The physical origins of the transverse optical binding force and torque beyond the Rayleigh approximation have not been clearly expressed to date. Here, we present analytical expressions of the force and torque for a dual dipolar dielectric dimer illuminated by a plane wave propagating perpendicularly to the dimer axis. Using this analytical model, we explore the roles of the hybridized electric dipolar, magnetic dipolar, and electric-magnetic dipolar coupling interactions in the total force and torque on the particles. We find significant departures from the predictions of the Rayleigh approximation, particularly for high-refractive-index particles, where the force is dominated by the magnetic interaction. This results in an enhancement of the dimer stability by one to four orders of magnitude compared to the predictions of the Rayleigh approximation. For the case of torque, this is dominated by the coupling interaction and increases by an order of magnitude. Our results will help to guide future experimental work in optical binding of high-refractive-index dielectric particles.

Germanium-Vacancy Color Center in Diamond as a Non-invasive Temperature Sensor

We present high-resolution, all-optical thermometry based on ensembles of GeV color center in diamond. Due to the unique properties of diamond, an all-optical approach using this method opens a way to produce non-invasive, back-action-free temperature measurements in a wide range of temperatures, from a few Kelvin to 1100 Kelvin.

Propagation of Fronts and Information in Dispersive Media

We present a general proof based on Kramers-Kronig relations that, in a normal or anomalous dispersive linear medium, any (discontinuitynonanalytic disturbance) in an electromagnetic pulse can not propagate faster than the phase velocity, $c$. Consequently the information carried by the discontinuity (nonanalytical disturbance) can not be transmitted superluminally.
