Ontology based Approach for Semantic Service Selection in Business Process Re-Engineering

This research aims to provide the possibility to the business analysts to be able to know whether their design business processes are feasible or not. In order to solve this problem, we proposed a model called BPMNSemAuto that makes use of the existing services stored in the service registry UDDI (Universal Description Discovery and Integration). From the data extracted from the UDDI, the WSDL files and the tracking data of service execution on the server, a Web Service Ontology (WSOnto) is generated to store all the existing services. The BPMNSemAuto model takes an input of business process design specifications, and it generates an executable business process as an output. It provides an interface for business analysts to specify the description of each service task of the design business process. For each service task, the business analysts specify the task objective (keywords), inputs, outputs and weights of the Quality of Service (QoS) properties. From the design business process with the service task specifications, a Business Process Ontology (BPOnto) is generated. A service selection algorithm performs the mapping between the instances of the WSOnto and the BPOnto to obtain possible mappings between these two ontologies. The obtained mappings help the model to acquire web services to execute the desired service tasks. Moreover, the consistency checking of the inputs of the proposed model is performed before executing the service selection algorithm. WordNet is used to solve the synonym problems and at the same time a keyword extraction method is presented in this paper.

Jointly identifying opinion mining elements and fuzzy measurement of opinion intensity to analyze product features

Opinion mining mainly involves three elements: feature and feature-of relations, opinion expressions and the related opinion attributes (e.g. Polarity), and feature-opinion relations. Although many works have emerged to achieve its aim of gaining information, the previous researches typically handled each of the three elements in isolation, which cannot give sufficient information extraction results; hence, the complexity and the running time of information extraction is increased. In this paper, we propose an opinion mining extraction algorithm to jointly discover the main opinion mining elements. Specifically, the algorithm automatically builds kernels to combine closely related words into new terms from word level to phrase level based on dependency relations; and we ensure the accuracy of opinion expressions and polarity based on: fuzzy measurements, opinion degree intensifiers, and opinion patterns. The 3458 analyzed reviews show that the proposed algorithm can effectively identify the main elements simultaneously and outperform the baseline methods. The proposed algorithm is used to analyze the features among heterogeneous products in the same category. The feature-by-feature comparison can help to select the weaker features and recommend the correct specifications from the beginning life of a product. From this comparison, some interesting observations are revealed. For example, the negative polarity of video dimension is higher than the product usability dimension for a product. Yet, enhancing the dimension of product usability can more effectively improve the product (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Optimized Hidden Markov Model based on Constrained Particle Swarm Optimization

As one of Bayesian analysis tools, Hidden Markov Model (HMM) has been used to in extensive applications. Most HMMs are solved by Baum-Welch algorithm (BWHMM) to predict the model parameters, which is difficult to find global optimal solutions. This paper proposes an optimized Hidden Markov Model with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm and so is called PSOHMM. In order to overcome the statistical constraints in HMM, the paper develops re-normalization and re-mapping mechanisms to ensure the constraints in HMM. The experiments have shown that PSOHMM can search better solution than BWHMM, and has faster convergence speed.

Towards ontology based BPMN Implementation

Natural language is understandable by human and not machine. None technical persons can only use natural language to specify their business requirements. However, the current version of Business process management and notation (BPMN) tools do not allow business analysts to implement their business processes without having technical skills. BPMN tool is a tool that allows users to design and implement the business processes by connecting different business tasks and rules together. The tools do not provide automatic implementation of business tasks from users' specifications in natural language (NL). Therefore, this research aims to propose a framework to automatically implement the business processes that are expressed in NL requirements. Ontology is used as a mechanism to solve this problem by comparing between users' requirements and web services' descriptions. Web service is a software module that performs a specific task and ontology is a concept that defines the relationships between different terms.

Towards Realizing the Smart Product Traceability System

The rapid technological enhancement and innovations in current days have changed people's thought. The use of Information Technology tools in people's daily life has changed their life style completely. The advent of various innovative smart products in the market has tremendous impact on people's lifestyle. They want to know their heart beat while they run, they need a smart car which makes them alert when they become sleepy while driving, and they need an IT tool which can make their home safer when they are out. These quests of people to the very extent have been fulfilled by development of many Meta products like wearables, smart phones, smart car etc. The concept of Meta product is based on the fact that they need to offer intelligent services to the users. In present day's Meta products market, the manufacturers have their own cloud based platform which is used by the products for which it is developed. The other products cannot use the common platform. In this paper, we propose a common cloud based platform that will be used by any Meta product's user to get different services.

Traceability as an integral part of supply chain logistics management: an analytical review

Purpose: Supply chain has become very complex today. There are multiple stakeholders at various points. All these stakeholders need to collaborate with each other in multiple directions for its effective and efficient management. The manufacturers need proper information and data about the product location, its processing history, raw materials, etc at each point so as to control the production process. Companies need to develop global and effective strategies to sustain in the competitive market. Logistics helps companies to implement the effectiveness across the business supply chain from source to destination to achieve their strategic goals. Traceability has become one of the integrated parts of the supply chain logistics management that track and trace the product's information in upstream and downstream at each point. All the stakeholders in the supply chain have different objectives to implement the traceability solution that depends on their role (e.g. manufacturers, distributers or wholesalers have their own role). The information generated and needed from all these actors are also different and are to be shared among all to run the supply chain smoothly. But the stakeholders don't want to share all the information with other stake holders which is a major challenge to be addressed in current traceability solutions. The purpose of this research is to conduct thorough study of the literatures available on the traceability solutions, finding the gaps and recommending our views to enhance the collaborations among the stakeholders in every point of the business supply chain. The study will be helpful for further researchers to propose a traceability meta-model to address the gaps. Design/methodology/approach: The relevant literatures with keywords supply chain management, traceability, logistics management are searched from the trusted database. The scope and the objectives of the research is set based on which the papers are filtered as per the titles and abstract. Proper analyses of the screened papers are done and the recommendations are given. Findings: Traceability solution is popular among the industries since a long for their supply chain management. After proper analysis of the available literatures about the traceability solution the industries use, this research will identify the gaps based on which we give the proper recommendations and perspectives of our work.

Supply Chain Management analysis: a simulation approach of the Value Chain Operations Reference model (VCOR)

The impact of globalization and worldwide competition has forced firms to modify their strategies towards a real time operation with respect to customer's requirements. This behaviour, together with the communication possibilities offered by the actual Information and Communication Technologies, allows the top management to move towards the concept of extended enterprise in which a collaborative link is established among suppliers, commercial partners and customers. When the information flows involve each actor of the chain, from suppliers to the final distribution centers, the extended enterprise becomes a virtual firm, that can be defined as a set of stand-alone operational units that acts to reconfigure themselves as a value chain in order to adapt to the business opportunities given by the market. The present work is intended to verify through a simulation approach the quantitative advantages that can be obtained by the introduction of the Value Chain concept into the Supply Chain Management (SCM). The paper, after a description of the two most known (SCM) methods - SCOR and VCOR - makes a comparison between them by the customer's point of view. In the second part of the work a simulation model has been developed to verify the advantage that the VCOR is able to obtain, validating it on an industrial case study.

Collaboration and integration through information technologies in supply chains

Supply chain management encompasses various processes including various conventional logistics activities, and various other processes These processes are supported -- to a certain limit -- by coordination and integration mechanisms which are long-term strategies that give competitive advantage through overall supply chain efficiency. Information Technology, by the way of collecting, sharing and gathering data, exchanging information, optimising process through package software, is becoming one of the key developments and success of these collaboration strategies. This paper proposes a study to identify the methods used for collaborative works in the supply chain and focuses on some of its areas, as between a company and its suppliers (i.e., inventory sharing) and its customers (i.e., customer demand, forecasting), and also the integration of product information in the value chain.

Towards a more efficient use of process and product traceability data for continuous improvement of industrial performances

Nowadays all industrial sectors are increasingly faced with the explosion in the amount of data. Therefore, it raises the question of the efficient use of this large amount of data. In this research work, we are concerned with process and product traceability data. In some sectors (e.g. pharmaceutical and agro-food), the collection and storage of these data are required. Beyond this constraint (regulatory and / or contractual), we are interested in the use of these data for continuous improvements of industrial performances. Two research axes were identified: product recall and responsiveness towards production hazards. For the first axis, a procedure for product recall exploiting traceability data will be propose. The development of detection and prognosis functions combining process and product data is envisaged for the second axis.

Infrastructure for the representation and electronic exchange of design knowledge

This paper develops the concept of knowledge and its exchange using Semantic Web technologies. It points out that knowledge is more than information because it embodies the meaning, that is to say semantic and context. These characteristics will influence our approach to represent and to treat the knowledge. In order to be adopted, the developed system needs to be simple and to use standards. The goal of the paper is to find standards to model knowledge and exchange it with an other person. Therefore, we propose to model knowledge using UML models to show a graphical representation and to exchange it with XML to ensure the portability at low cost. We introduce the concept of ontology for organizing knowledge and for facilitating the knowledge exchange. Proposals have been tested by implementing an application on the design knowledge of a pen.

A Decision Support Framework for Manufacturing Improvement and Relocation Prevention in Thailand: Supply Chain Perspective

The low economic growth and competition among neighbouring countries has caused Foreign Direct nvestments (FDIs) to relocate their businesses. In order to prevent further business relocation, this aper proposes an integrated framework based on the supply chain to help analyse decision making for plant situations and enhance manufacturing perrformance. The context of this perspective is pplied to manufacturers located in the industrial state region of Lumphun province, Thailand. Data collection and review of literature was used to identify the factors that influence industrial investment. The SCOR model was used to define the parameters, which here then used in Arena simulation. The simulation needs to describe factors affected on industrial erformance. From this result, an integrated analysis model was built and the importance of supply chain collaboration was identified. A Multi Agent System (MAS) was suggested to enhance of the effective nteraction between supply chain' agents. It is in order to mitigate risks among them.

A multi-agent system for managing the product lifecycle sustainability

The international competitive market causes the increasing of shorten product life cycle and product development process with the improvement in term of time, cost and quality while increasing the waste generation. Product life cycle sustainability can reduce waste, conserve resources, use recycling materials, design product for easy disassembly and avoid using hazardous material. This paper proposes a knowledge management architecture, based on a multi-agent system, which focuses on the "sustainability" in order to manage knowledge in each stage of the product lifecycle, and particularly in the recovery process. The aim of this research work is to make the link between a decision-making system based on the agent's knowledge about the sustainability (environmental norms, rules...) and a PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system. The software Agents will help the decision makers in each stage of the lifecycle and make them take into account the environmental impact of their decisions.

Improving risk management by using smart containers for real-time traceability

This research proposes implications of application functions by using the chain traceability data acquired from the Smart Object attached with Extended Real-time Data (SO-ERD: e.g. smart container, smart pallet, etc.) to improve risk management at the level of the logistics chain. Recent applications using traceability data and major issues in traceability systems have been explored by an academic literature. Information is classified by the usage of current traceability data for supporting risk detection and decisions in operational, tactical, and strategical levels. It is found that real-time data has been a significant impact on the usage for the transportation activity in all decision levels such the function of food quality control and collaborative planning among partners. However, there are some uncertainties in the aggregation of event-based traceability data captured by various partners which are preventing the adoption of data usage for the chain. Under the environment of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT), the SO-ERD enables independent data tracing through the chain in real-time. Its data has potential to overcome current issues and improve the supply chain risk management. Therefore, Implications of risk management are proposed with the usage of SO-ERD data based on the literature review which reveals current concerns of decision functions in the supply chain. The implications can be an impact to the domain needs.

Data Compliance in Pharmaceutical Industry, Interoperability to align Business and Information Systems

The ultimate goal in the pharmaceutical sector is product quality. However this quality can be altered by the use of a number of heterogeneous information systems with different business structures and concepts along the lifecycle of the product. Interoperability is then needed to guarantee a certain correspondence and compliance between different product data. In this paper we focus on a particular compliance problem, between production technical data, represented in an ERP, and the corresponding regulatory directives and specifications, represented by the Marketing Authorizations (MA). The MA detail the process for manufacturing the medicine according to the requirements imposed by health organisations such as Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Committee for Medicinal Products for Human use (CHMP). The proposed approach uses an interoperability framework which is based on a multi-layer separation between the organisational aspects, business trades, and information technologies for each involved entity into the communication between the used systems.

Ontology based system to guide internship assignment process

Internship assignment is a complicated process for universities since it is necessary to take into account a multiplicity of variables to establish a compromise between companies' requirements and student competencies acquired during the university training. These variables build up a complex relations map that requires the formulation of an exhaustive and rigorous conceptual scheme. In this research a domain ontological model is presented as support to the student's decision making for opportunities of University studies level of the University Lumiere Lyon 2 (ULL) education system. The ontology is designed and created using methodological approach offering the possibility of improving the progressive creation, capture and knowledge articulation. In this paper, we draw a balance taking the demands of the companies across the capabilities of the students. This will be done through the establishment of an ontological model of an educational learners' profile and the internship postings which are written in a free text and using uncontrolled vocabulary. Furthermore, we outline the process of semantic matching which improves the quality of query results.

Review on Telemonitoring of Maternal Health care Targeting Medical Cyber-Physical Systems

We aim to review available literature related to the telemonitoring of maternal health care for a comprehensive understanding of the roles of Medical Cyber-Physical-Systems (MCPS) as cutting edge technology in maternal risk factor management, and for understanding the possible research gap in the domain. In this regard, we search literature through google scholar and PubMed databases for published studies that focus on maternal telemonitoring systems using sensors, Cyber-Physical-System (CPS) and information decision systems for addressing risk factors We extract 1340 articles relevant to maternal health care that addresses different risk factors as their managerial issues. Of a large number of relevant articles, we included 26 prospective studies relating to sensors or Medical Cyber-Physical-Systems (MCPS) based maternal telemonitoring. Of the 1340 primary articles, we have short-listed 26 articles (12 articles for risk factor analysis, 9 for synthesis matrices and 5 papers for finding essential elements. We have extracted 17 vital symptoms as maternal risk factors during pregnancy. Moreover, we have identified a number of cyber-frameworks as the basis of information decision support system to cope with the different maternal complexities. We have found the Medical Cyber-Physical System (MCPS) as a promising technology to manage the vital risk factors quickly and efficiently by the care provider from a distant place to reduce the fatal risks. Despite communication issues, MCPS is a key-enabling technology to cope with the advancement of telemonitoring paradigm in the maternal health care system.

A multi-criteria service selection algorithm for business process requirements

The selection of the most appropriate Web services to realize business tasks still remain an open issue. We propose a multi-criteria algorithm for efficient service selection. Web services and their QoS values are stored in a Web service ontology (WSOnto) and business processes are modeled with the BPMN2.0 specifications. Our algorithm performs an instance-based ontology matching between the WSOnto and the business process ontology. The business context, functional properties and QoS values of Web services are considered. The algorithm computes the variation of QoS values over times. This strategy allows better accurate Web services ranking relevant to a user's request.
