Double-heavy tetraquark states with heavy diquark-antiquark symmetry

We calculate the masses of the $QQ\bar{q}\bar{q}$ ($Q=c,b$; $q=u,d,s$) tetraquark states with the aid of heavy diquark-antiquark symmetry (HDAS) and the chromomagnetic interaction (CMI) model. The masses of the highest-spin ($J=2$) tetraquarks that have only the $(QQ)_{\bar{3}_c}(\bar{q}\bar{q})_{3_c}$ color structure are related with those of conventional hadrons using HDAS. Thereafter, the masses of their partner states are determined with the mass splittings in the CMI model. Our numerical results reveal that: (i) the lightest $cc\bar{n}\bar{n}$ ($n=u,d$) is an $I(J^P)=0(1^+)$ state around 3929 MeV (53 MeV above the $DD^*$ threshold) and none of the double-charm tetraquarks are stable; (ii) the stable double-bottom tetraquarks are the lowest $0(1^+)$ $bb\bar{n}\bar{n}$ around 10488 MeV ($\approx116$ MeV below the $BB^*$ threshold) and the lowest $1/2(1^+)$ $bb\bar{n}\bar{s}$ around 10671 MeV ($\approx20$ MeV below the $BB_s^*/B_sB^*$ threshold); and (iii) the two lowest $bc\bar{n}\bar{n}$ tetraquarks, namely the lowest $0(0^+)$ around 7167 MeV and the lowest $0(1^+)$ around 7223 MeV, are near-threshold states. Moreover, we discuss the constraints on the masses of double-heavy hadrons. Specifically, for the lowest nonstrange tetraquarks, we obtain $T_{cc}<3965$ MeV, $T_{bb}<10627$ MeV, and $T_{bc}<7199$ MeV.

Heavy baryon spectrum with chiral multiplets of scalar and vector diquarks

Chiral effective theory of scalar and vector diquarks is formulated according to the linear sigma model. The main application is to describe the ground and excited states of singly heavy baryons with a charm or bottom quark. Applying the potential quark model between the diquark and the heavy quark ($Q=c, b$), we construct a heavy-quark--diquark model. The spectra of the positive- and negative-parity states of $Λ_Q$, $Σ_Q$, $Ξ^{(')}_Q$ and $Ω_Q$ are obtained. The masses and interaction parameters of the effective theory are fixed partly from the lattice QCD data and also from fitting low-lying heavy baryon masses. We find that the negative parity excited states of $Ξ_Q$ (flavor $\bar{\bf 3}$) are different from those of $Λ_Q$, because of the inverse hierarchy of the pseudoscalar diquark. On the other hand, $Σ_Q, Ξ'_Q$ and $Ω_Q$ (flavor ${\bf 6}$) baryons have similar spectra. We compare our results of the heavy-quark--diquark model with experimental data as well as the quark model.

Spectrum and rearrangement decays of tetraquark states with four different flavors

We have systematically investigated the mass spectrum and rearrangement decay properties of the exotic tetraquark states with four different flavors using a color-magnetic interaction model. Their masses are estimated by assuming that the $X(4140)$ is a $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ tetraquark state and their decay widths are obtained by assuming that the Hamiltonian for decay is a constant. According to the adopted method, we find that the most stable states are probably the isoscalar $bs\bar{u}\bar{d}$ and $cs\bar{u}\bar{d}$ with $J^P=0^+$ and $1^+$. The width for most unstable tetraquarks is about tens of MeVs, but that for unstable $cu\bar{s}\bar{d}$ and $cs\bar{u}\bar{d}$ can be around 100 MeV. For the $X(5568)$, our method cannot give consistent mass and width if it is a $bu\bar{s}\bar{d}$ tetraquark state. For the $I(J^P)=0(0^+),0(1^+)$ double-heavy $T_{bc}=bc\bar{u}\bar{d}$ states, their widths can be several MeVs.

Chiral effective theory of diquarks and the U_A(1) anomaly

The diquark is a strongly correlated quark pair that plays an important role in hadrons and hadronic matter. In order to treat the diquak as a building block of hadrons, we formulate an effective theory of diquark fields with $SU(3)_R \times SU(3)_L$ chiral symmetry. We concentrate on the scalar ($0^+$) and pseudoscalar ($0^-$) diquarks and construct a linear-sigma-model Lagrangian. It is found that the effective Lagrangian contains a new type of chirally symmetric meson-diquark-diquark coupling that breaks axial $U_A(1)$ symmetry. We discuss consequences of the $U_A(1)$ anomaly term to the diquark masses as well as to the singly heavy baryon spectrum, which is directly related to the diquark spectrum. We find an inverse mass ordering between strange and nonstrange diquarks. The parameters of the effective theory can be determined by the help of lattice QCD calculations of diquarks and also from the mass spectrum of the singly heavy baryons. We determine the strength of the $U_A(1)$ anomaly term, which is found to give a significant portion of the diquark masses.

$P_c(4457)^+$, $P_c(4440)^+$, and $P_c(4312)^+$: molecules or compact pentaquarks?

In a chromomagnetic model, we analyse the properties of the newly observed $P_c(4457)^+$, $P_c(4440)^+$, and $P_c(4312)^+$ states. We estimate the masses of the $(uud)_{8_c}(c\bar{c})_{8_c}$ and $(uds)_{8_c}(c\bar{c})_{8_c}$ pentaquark states by considering the isospin breaking effects. Their values are determined by calculating mass distances from the $Σ_c^{++}D^-$ and $Ξ_c^{\prime+}D^-$ thresholds, respectively. It is found that the isospin breaking effects on the spectrum are small. From the uncertainty consideration and the rearrangement decay properties in a simple model, we find that it is possible to assign the $P_c(4457)^+$, $P_c(4440)^+$, and $P_c(4312)^+$ as $J^P=3/2^-$, $1/2^-$, and $3/2^-$ pentaquark states, respectively. The assignment in the molecule picture can be different, in particular for the $P_c(4312)^+$. The information from open-charm channels, e.g. ${\cal B}[P_c\toΣ_c^{++}D^-]/{\cal B}[P_c\to J/ψp]$, will play an important role in distinguishing the inner structures of the $P_c$ states. Discussions and predictions based on the calculations are also given.

Exotic pentaquark states with the $qqQQ\bar{Q}$ configuration

In the framework of the color-magnetic interaction model, we have systematically calculated the mass splittings for the S-wave triply heavy pentaquark states with the configuration $qqQQ\bar{Q}$ $(Q=c,b;q=u,d,s)$. Their masses are estimated and their stabilities are discussed according to possible rearrangement decay patterns. Our results indicate that there may exist several stable or narrow such states. We hope the present study can help experimentalists to search for exotic pentaquarks.

Exclusive Production Ratio of Neutral over Charged Kaon Pair in $e^+e^-$ Annihilation Continuum via `Straton Model'

A completely relativistic quark model in the Bethe-Salpter framework is employed to calculate the exclusive production ratio of the neutral over charged Kaon pair in $e^+e^-$ annihilation continuum region for center of mass energies smaller than the $J/Ψ$ mass. The valence quark charge plays the key rôle. The cancellation of the diagrams for the same charge case (in $K_S + K_L$) and the non-cancellation of the diagrams for the different charge case (in $K^-+K^+$) lead to the ratio as $(m_s-m_d)^2/M_{Kaon}^2 \sim 1/10$.

Chiral Lagrangians for mesons with a single heavy quark

We construct the relativistic chiral Lagrangians for heavy-light mesons $(Q\bar{q})$ to the $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$ order. From $\mathcal{O}(p^2)$ to $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$, there are 17, 67, and 404 independent terms in the flavor $SU(2)$ case and 20, 84, and 655 independent terms in the flavor $SU(3)$ case. The Lagrangians in the heavy quark limit are also obtained. From $\mathcal{O}(p^2)$ to $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$, there are 7, 25, and 136 independent terms in the flavor $SU(2)$ case and 8, 33, and 212 independent terms in the flavor $SU(3)$ case. The relations between low-energy constants based on the heavy quark symmetry are also given up to the $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$ order.

Pentaquark and Tetraquark states

The past seventeen years have witnessed tremendous progress on the experimental and theoretical explorations of the multiquark states. The hidden-charm and hidden-bottom multiquark systems were reviewed extensively in [Phys. Rept. 639 (2016) 1-121]. In this article, we shall update the experimental and theoretical efforts on the hidden heavy flavor multiquark systems in the past three years. Especially the LHCb collaboration not only confirmed the existence of the hidden-charm pentaquarks but also provided strong evidence of the molecular picture. Besides the well-known $XYZ$ and $P_c$ states, we shall discuss more interesting tetraquark and pentaquark systems either with one, two, three or even four heavy quarks. Some very intriguing states include the fully heavy exotic tetraquark states $QQ\bar Q\bar Q$ and doubly heavy tetraquark states $QQ\bar q \bar q$, where $Q$ is a heavy quark. The $QQ\bar Q\bar Q$ states may be produced at LHC while the $QQ\bar q \bar q$ system may be searched for at BelleII and LHCb. Moreover, we shall pay special attention to various theoretical schemes. We shall emphasize the model-independent predictions of various models which are truly/closely related to Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). There have also accumulated many lattice QCD simulations through multiple channel scattering on the lattice in recent years, which provide deep insights into the underlying structure/dynamics of the $XYZ$ states. In terms of the recent $P_c$ states, the lattice simulations of the charmed baryon and anti-charmed meson scattering are badly needed. We shall also discuss some important states which may be searched for at BESIII, BelleII and LHCb in the coming years.

Charmed dibaryon resonances in the potential quark model

Charmed dibaryon states with the spin-parity $J^π=0^+$, $1^+$, and $2^+$are predicted for the two-body $Y_cN$ ($=Λ_c$, $Σ_c$, or $Σ^*_c$) systems. We employ the complex scaling method for the coupled channel Hamiltonian with the $Y_cN$-CTNN potentials, which were proposed in our previous study. We find four sharp resonance states near the $Σ_c N$ and $Σ^*_c N$ thresholds. From the analysis of the binding energies of partial channel systems, we conclude that these resonance states are Feshbach resonances. We compare the results with the $Y_c N$ resonance states in the heavy quark limit, where the $Σ_c N$ and $Σ^*_c N$ thresholds are degenerate, and find that they form two pairs of the heavy-quark doublets in agreement with the heavy quark spin symmetry.

Pentaquark states with the $QQQq\bar{q}$ configuration in a simple model

We discuss the mass splittings for the $S$-wave triply heavy pentaquark states with the $QQQq\bar{q}$ $(Q=b,c;q=u,d,s)$ configuration which is a mirror structure of $Q\bar{Q}qqq$. The latter configuration is related with the nature of $P_c(4380)$ observed by the LHCb Collaboration. The considered pentaquark masses are roughly estimated with a simple method. One finds that such states are probably not narrow even if they do exist. This leaves room for molecule interpretation for a state around the low-lying threshold of a doubly heavy baryon and a heavy-light meson, e.g. $Ξ_{cc}D$, if it were observed. As a by product, we conjecture that upper limits for the masses of the conventional triply heavy baryons can be determined by the masses of the conventional doubly heavy baryons.

Systematic studies of charmonium-, bottomonium-, and $B_c$-like tetraquark states

We study the mass splittings of $Q_1q_2\bar{Q}_3\bar{q}_4$ ($Q=c,b$, $q=u,d,s$) tetraquark states with chromomagnetic interactions between their quark components. Assuming that $X(4140)$ is the lowest $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ tetraquark, we estimate the masses of the other tetraquark states. From the obtained masses and defined measure reflecting effective quark interactions, we find the following assignments for several exotic states: (1) both $X(3860)$ and the newly observed $Z_c(4100)$ seem to be $0^{++}$ $cn\bar{c}\bar{n}$ tetraquarks; (2) $Z_c(4200)$ is probably a $1^{+-}$ $cn\bar{c}\bar{n}$ tetraquark; (3) $Z_c(3900)$, $X(3940)$, and $X(4160)$ are unlikely compact tetraquarks; (4) $Z_c(4020)$ is unlikely a compact tetraquark, but seems the hidden-charm correspondence of $Z_b(10650)$ with $J^{PC}=1^{+-}$; and (5) $Z_c(4250)$ can be a tetraquark candidate but the quantum numbers cannot be assigned at present. We hope further studies may check the predictions and assignments given here.

Surveying exotic pentaquarks with the typical $QQqq\bar{q}$ configuration

As a hot issue, exploring exotic pentaquarks is full of challenges and opportunities for both theorist and experimentalist. In this work, we focus on a type of pentaquark with the $QQqq\bar{q}$ ($Q=b,c$; $q=u,d,s$) configuration, where their mass spectrum is estimated systematically. Especially, our result indicates that there may exist some stable or narrow exotic pentaquark states. Obviously, our study may provides valuable information for further experimental search for the $QQqq\bar{q}$ pentaquarks. With the running of LHCb and forthcoming Belle II, we have a reason to believe that these predictions present here can be tested.

Heavy-flavored tetraquark states with the $QQ\bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ configuration

In the framework of the color-magnetic interaction, we systematically investigate the mass spectrum of the tetraquark states composed of four heavy quarks with the $QQ\bar Q\bar Q$ configuration in this work. We also show their strong decay patterns. Stable or narrow states in the $bb\bar{b}\bar{c}$ and $bc\bar{b}\bar{c}$ systems are found to be possible. We hope the studies shall be helpful to the experimental search for heavy-full exotic tetraquark states.

Resonance in the $Y_{c}N$ potential model

We calculate two-body $J^π=0^{+}, 1^{+}$, and $J^π=2^{+}$ resonance states of $Y_{c}$ ($= Λ_{c}$, $Σ_{c}$, or $Σ_{c}^{*}$) and $N$ using the complex scaling method. We employ the $Y_{c}N$-CTNN potentials, which were proposed in our previous study, and obtain four resonances near $Σ_{c}N$ and $Σ_{c}^{*}N$ thresholds. From the analysis by the binding energies of partial channel systems, we conclude that these resonance states are Feshbach resonances. We compare the results with the $Y_{c}N$ resonance states in the heavy quark limit, where the $Σ_{c}N$ and $Σ_{c}^{*}N$ thresholds are degenerate, and find that they form two pairs of the heavy-quark doublets in agreement with the heavy quark spin symmetry.

Chiral Lagrangians with decuplet baryons to one loop

We construct the relativistic chiral Lagrangians with decuplet baryons up to the order $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$ (one loop). For the meson-decuplet-decuplet couplings, there are 1, 13, 55, and 548 terms in the $\mathcal{O}(p^1)$-$\mathcal{O}(p^4)$ order Lagrangians, respectively. For the meson-octet-decuplet Lagrangians, the number of independent terms from $\mathcal{O}(p^1)$ to $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$ are 1, 5, 67, and 611, respectively. For convenience of applications, the $πΔΔ$ and $πNΔ$ chiral Lagrangians are picked out. This new form of $Δ$ Lagrangians is equivalent to the original isovector-isospinor one and we establish relations between these two forms.

Chiral Lagrangians with $Δ(1232)$ to one loop

We construct the Lorentz-invariant chiral Lagrangians up to the order $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$ by including $Δ(1232)$ as an explicit degree of freedom. A full one-loop investigation on processes involving $Δ(1232)$ can be performed with them. For the $πΔΔ$ Lagrangian, one obtains 38 independent terms at the order $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$ and 318 independent terms at the order $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$. For the $πNΔ$ Lagrangian, we get 33 independent terms at the order $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$ and 218 independent terms at the order $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$. The heavy baryon projection is also briefly discussed.

Exotic tetraquark states with the $qq\bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ configuration

In this work, we study systematically the mass splittings of the $qq\bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ ($q=u$, $d$, $s$ and $Q=c$, $b$) tetraquark states with the color-magnetic interaction by considering color mixing effects and estimate roughly their masses. We find that the color mixing effect is relatively important for the $J^P=0^+$ states and possible stable tetraquarks exist in the $nn\bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ ($n=u$, $d$) and $ns\bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ systems either with $J=0$ or with $J=1$. Possible decay patterns of the tetraquarks are briefly discussed.
