A scheme for neutrino mass generation through modified Higgs mechanism

We propose a new method for neutrino mass generation through a modified Higgs mechanism by introducing an additional tiny vacuum breaking to the charged Higgs field. With identical particle spectrum as standard electroweak model, this modified Higgs mechanism endows the lepton-Higgs Yukawa coupling Lagrangian with a modified lepton mass matrix. Inserting the latest data of particle experiments into this modified lepton mass matrix enable us to locate the value of the newly introduced parameter parametrizing the extra perturbative Higgs vacuum breaking and produce masses for neutrinos of three generations. We reach a sum of three-generation neutrino massess at: $\Sigma_{(\nu)} ~ m_{\nu} \approx 0.104078 ~eV$. This prediction is supported by the result of the latest cosmological observation, i.e. the 95\% C.L. upper bound $\Sigma_{(\nu)} ~ m_{\nu} < 0.176 ~eV$ determined by the Planck data. In our proposal of the modified Higgs mechanism, the Higgs vacua break twice, such that, the very minuteness of the extra Higgs vacuum breaking explains the origin of the very minuteness of neutrino masses, while the relative greatness of the standard Higgs vacuum breaking is recognized as the origin of the relative greatness of charged lepton masses. This proposal can bring rich new physics to Higgs-relevant problems in particle physics, besides the massive neutrino problems.

Preinflationary Perturbations in The Thermal Background

The solution to large-scale power deficit in the cosmic microwave background fluctuations may be relevant with the physics in the preinflationry period, and significantly depends on whether the initial conditions are set as Bunch-Davies vacuum or thermal ground state. We show the primordial cosmological perturbations based on the preinflationary model with three phases at different thermal initial conditions. The influences of different thermal initial states are studied by the detailed discussions of the adjusting role of model parameters on the power spectrum. Finally, this paper gives the solution to large-scale power deficit in the cosmic microwave background fluctuations.

Variation of entanglement entropy and mutual information in fermion-fermion scattering

We study the behavior of entanglement between different degrees of freedom of scattering fermions, based on an exemplary QED scattering process $e^+e^-\longrightarrow\mu^+\mu^-$. The variation of entanglement entropy between two fermions from an initial state to the final state was computed, with respect to different entanglement between the ingoing particles. This variation of entanglement entropy is found to be proportional to an area quantity, the total cross section. We also study the spin-momentum and helicity-momentum entanglements within one particle in the aforementioned scattering process. The calculations of the relevant variations of mutual information in the same inertial frame reveals that, for a maximally entangled initial state, the scattering between the particles does not affect the degree of both of these entanglements of one particle in the final state. It is also found that the increasing degree of entanglement between two ingoing particles would restrict the generation of entanglement between spin (helicity) and momentum of one outgoing particle. And the entanglement between spin and momentum within one particle in the final state is shown to always be stronger than that for helicity-momentum for a general initial entanglement state, implying significantly distinct properties of entanglement for the helicity and spin perceived by an inertial observer.

Constraining the Existence of Magnetic Monopoles by Dirac-Dual Electric Charge Renormalization Effect Under the Planck Scale Limit

It was suggested by dimensional analysis that there exists a limit called the Planck energy scale coming close to which the gravitational effects of physical processes would inflate and struggle for equal rights so as to spoil the validity of pure non-gravitational physical theories that governed well below the Planck energy. Near the Planck scale, the Planck charges, Planck currents, or Planck parameters can be defined and assigned to physical quantities such as the single particle electric charge and magnetic charge as the ceiling value obeyed by the low energy ordinary physics. The Dirac electric-magnetic charge quantization relation as one form of electric-magnetic duality dictates that, the present low value electric charge corresponds to a huge magnetic charge value already passed the Planck limit so as to render theories of magnetic monopoles into the strong coupling regime, and vice versa, that small and tractable magnetic charge values correspond to huge electric charge values. It suggests that for theoretic models in which the renormalization group equation provides rapid growth for the running electric coupling constant, it is easier for the dual magnetic monopoles to emerge at lower energy scales. Allowing charges to vary with the Dirac electric-magnetic charge quantization relation while keeping values under the Planck limit informs that the magnetic charge value drops below the Planck ceiling value into the manageable region when the electric coupling constant grows to one fourth at a model dependent energy scale, and continues dropping towards half the value of the Planck magnetic charge as the electric coupling constant continues growing at the model dependent rate towards one near Planck energy scale.

Hawking Radiation as a Probe for the Interior Structure of Regular Black Holes

The notion of the black hole singularity and the proof of the singularity theorem were considered great successes in classical general relativity. Singularities had presented deep puzzles to physicists. Conceptual challenges were set up by the intractability of the singularity. The existence of black hole horizons which cover up the interior, including the singularity of the black hole from outside observers, builds an information curtain, further hindering physicists from understanding the nature of the singularity and the interior structure of black holes. The regular black hole is a concept produced out of multiple attempts of establishing a tractable and understandable interior structure for black hole as well as avoiding the singularity behind the black hole horizon. A method is needed to check the correctness of the new constructions of black holes. After studying the Hawking radiation by fermion tunnelling from one type of regular black hole, structure dependent results were obtained. The result being structure dependent points out the prospects of employing the Hawking radiation as a method to probe into the structure of black holes.

Effects of high-order operators in non-relativistic Lifshitz holography

In this paper, we study the effects of high-order operators on the non-relativistic Lifshitz holography in the framework of the Ho\v{r}ava-Lifshitz (HL) theory of gravity, which naturally contains high-order operators in order for the theory to be power-counting renormalizble, and provides an ideal place for such studies. In particular, we show that the Lifshitz space-time is still a solution of the full theory of the HL gravity. The effects of the high-oder operators on the space-time itself is simply to shift the Lifshitz dynamical exponent. However, while in the infrared the asymptotic behavior of a (probe) scalar field near the boundary is similar to that studied in the literature, it gets dramatically modified in the UV limit, because of the presence of the high-order operators in this regime. Then, according to the gauge/gravity duality, this in turn affects the two-point correlation functions.
