Measurement of the integrated luminosity of the data collected at 3.773 GeV by BESIII from 2021 to 2024

We present a measurement of the integrated luminosity of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at a center-of-mass energy of $E_{\rm cm} = 3.773$~GeV. The integrated luminosities of the data sets taken from December 2021 to June 2022, from November 2022 to June 2023, and from October 2023 to February 2024 are determined to be $4.995 \pm 0.019$~fb$^{-1}$, $8.157 \pm 0.031$~fb$^{-1}$, and $4.191 \pm 0.016$~fb$^{-1}$, respectively, by analyzing large angle Bhabha scattering events. The uncertainties are dominated by systematic effects and the statistical uncertainties are negligible. Our results provide essential input for future analyses and precision measurements.

The first exploration of the correlations between \textit{WISE} 12 \micron\ and CO emission in early-type galaxies

We present the analysis of a comprehensive sample of 352 early-type galaxies using public data, to investigate the correlations between CO luminosities and mid-infrared luminosities observed by \textit{Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer} (\textit{WISE}). We find strong correlations between both CO (1-0) and CO (2-1) luminosities and 12 \micron\ luminosity, boasting a correlation coefficient greater than 0.9 and an intrinsic scatter smaller than 0.1 dex. The consistent slopes observed for the relationships of CO (1-0) and CO (2-1) suggest that the line ratio R21 lacks correlation with mid-infrared emission in early-type galaxies, which is significantly different from star-forming galaxies. Moreover, the slopes of $L_{\rm CO (1-0)}$--$L_{\mbox{12\micron}}$ and $L_{\rm CO (2-1)}$--$L_{\mbox{12\micron}}$ relations in early-type galaxies are steeper than those observed in star-forming galaxies. Given the absence of correlation with color, morphology or sSFR, the correlation between deviations and the molecular gas mass surface density could be eliminated by correcting the possible 12 \micron\ emission from old stars or adopting a systematically different $α_{\rm CO}$. The latter, on average, is equivalent to adding an constant CO brightness density, specifically ${2.8{_{-0.6}}\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!^{+0.8}}~[\mathrm{K~km~s^{-1}}]$ and ${4.4{_{-1.4}}\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!^{+2.2}}~[\mathrm{K~km~s^{-1}}]$ for CO (1-0) and (2-1) respectively. These explorations will serve as useful tools for estimating the molecular gas content in gas-poor galaxies and understanding associated quenching processes.

Social-Transmotion: Promptable Human Trajectory Prediction

Accurate human trajectory prediction is crucial for applications such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, and surveillance systems. Yet, existing models often fail to fully leverage the non-verbal social cues human subconsciously communicate when navigating the space. To address this, we introduce Social-Transmotion, a generic Transformer-based model that exploits diverse and numerous visual cues to predict human behavior. We translate the idea of a prompt from Natural Language Processing (NLP) to the task of human trajectory prediction, where a prompt can be a sequence of x-y coordinates on the ground, bounding boxes in the image plane, or body pose keypoints in either 2D or 3D. This, in turn, augments trajectory data, leading to enhanced human trajectory prediction. Using masking technique, our model exhibits flexibility and adaptability by capturing spatiotemporal interactions between agents based on the available visual cues. We delve into the merits of using 2D versus 3D poses, and a limited set of poses. Additionally, we investigate the spatial and temporal attention map to identify which keypoints and time-steps in the sequence are vital for optimizing human trajectory prediction. Our approach is validated on multiple datasets, including JTA, JRDB, Pedestrians and Cyclists in Road Traffic, and ETH-UCY. METEOR: Evolutionary Journey of Large Language Models from Guidance to Self-Growth

Model evolution enables learning from feedback to refine experiences and update skills, transforming models from having no domain knowledge to becoming domain experts. However, there is currently no unified and effective method for guiding this evolutionary process. To address this gap, we propose the Meteor method, which includes three training phases: weak-to-strong data distillation, iterative training, and self-evolution strategies. Each phase maximizes the model's inherent domain capabilities, allowing it to autonomously refine its domain knowledge and enhance performance. Experiments demonstrate that our approach significantly improves accuracy, completeness, relevance, coherence, and reliability across domain-specific tasks.

SOLAMI: Social Vision-Language-Action Modeling for Immersive Interaction with 3D Autonomous Characters

Human beings are social animals. How to equip 3D autonomous characters with similar social intelligence that can perceive, understand and interact with humans remains an open yet foundamental problem. In this paper, we introduce SOLAMI, the first end-to-end Social vision-Language-Action (VLA) Modeling framework for Immersive interaction with 3D autonomous characters. Specifically, SOLAMI builds 3D autonomous characters from three aspects: (1) Social VLA Architecture: We propose a unified social VLA framework to generate multimodal response (speech and motion) based on the user's multimodal input to drive the character for social interaction. (2) Interactive Multimodal Data: We present SynMSI, a synthetic multimodal social interaction dataset generated by an automatic pipeline using only existing motion datasets to address the issue of data scarcity. (3) Immersive VR Interface: We develop a VR interface that enables users to immersively interact with these characters driven by various architectures. Extensive quantitative experiments and user studies demonstrate that our framework leads to more precise and natural character responses (in both speech and motion) that align with user expectations with lower latency.

Towards Explainable Evaluation Metrics for Machine Translation

Unlike classical lexical overlap metrics such as BLEU, most current evaluation metrics for machine translation (for example, COMET or BERTScore) are based on black-box large language models. They often achieve strong correlations with human judgments, but recent research indicates that the lower-quality classical metrics remain dominant, one of the potential reasons being that their decision processes are more transparent. To foster more widespread acceptance of novel high-quality metrics, explainability thus becomes crucial. In this concept paper, we identify key properties as well as key goals of explainable machine translation metrics and provide a comprehensive synthesis of recent techniques, relating them to our established goals and properties. In this context, we also discuss the latest state-of-the-art approaches to explainable metrics based on generative models such as ChatGPT and GPT4. Finally, we contribute a vision of next-generation approaches, including natural language explanations. We hope that our work can help catalyze and guide future research on explainable evaluation metrics and, mediately, also contribute to better and more transparent machine translation systems.

Observation of $D^+\to f_0(500)μ^+ν_μ$ and study of $D^+\to π^+π^-\ell^+ν_\ell$ decay dynamics

Using $2.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV,we investigate the semileptonic decays $D^+\to π^+π^- \ell^+ν_\ell$ ($\ell=e$ and $μ$). The $D^+\to f_0(500)μ^+ν_μ$ decay is observed for the first time. By analyzing simultaneously the differential decay rates of $D^+\to f_0(500) μ^+ν_μ$ and $D^+\to f_0(500) e^+ν_e$ in different $\ell^+ν_\ell$ four-momentum transfer intervals, the product of the relevant hadronic form factor $f^{f_0}_{+}(0)$ and the magnitude of the $c\to d$ Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cd}|$ is determined to be $f_{+}^{f_0} (0)|V_{cd}|=0.143\pm0.014_{\rm stat}\pm0.011_{\rm syst}$ for the first time. With the input of $|V_{cd}|$ from the global fit in the standard model, we determine $f_{+}^{f_0} (0)=0.63\pm0.06_{\rm stat}\pm0.05_{\rm syst}$. The absolute branching fractions of $D^+\to f_0(500)_{(π^+π^-)}μ^+ν_μ$ and $D^+\to ρ^0_{(π^+π^-)} μ^+ν_μ$ are determined as $(0.72\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.08_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3}$ and $(1.64\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-3}$. Combining these results with those of previous BESIII measurements on their semielectronic counterparts from the same data sample, we test lepton flavor universality by measuring the branching fraction ratios ${\mathcal B}_{D^+\to ρ^0 μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to ρ^0 e^+ν_e}=0.88\pm0.10$ and ${\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) e^+ν_e}=1.14\pm0.26$, which are compatible with the standard model expectation.

Scalable and Domain-General Abstractive Proposition Segmentation

Segmenting text into fine-grained units of meaning is important to a wide range of NLP applications. The default approach of segmenting text into sentences is often insufficient, especially since sentences are usually complex enough to include multiple units of meaning that merit separate treatment in the downstream task. We focus on the task of abstractive proposition segmentation (APS): transforming text into simple, self-contained, well-formed sentences. Several recent works have demonstrated the utility of proposition segmentation with few-shot prompted LLMs for downstream tasks such as retrieval-augmented grounding and fact verification. However, this approach does not scale to large amounts of text and may not always extract all the facts from the input text. In this paper, we first introduce evaluation metrics for the task to measure several dimensions of quality. We then propose a scalable, yet accurate, proposition segmentation model. We model proposition segmentation as a supervised task by training LLMs on existing annotated datasets and show that training yields significantly improved results. We further show that by using the fine-tuned LLMs (Gemini Pro and Gemini Ultra) as teachers for annotating large amounts of multi-domain synthetic distillation data, we can train smaller student models (Gemma 1 2B and 7B) with results similar to the teacher LLMs. We then demonstrate that our technique leads to effective domain generalization, by annotating data in two domains outside the original training data and evaluating on them. Finally, as a key contribution of the paper, we share an easy-to-use API for NLP practitioners to use.

Multi-Transmotion: Pre-trained Model for Human Motion Prediction

The ability of intelligent systems to predict human behaviors is crucial, particularly in fields such as autonomous vehicle navigation and social robotics. However, the complexity of human motion have prevented the development of a standardized dataset for human motion prediction, thereby hindering the establishment of pre-trained models. In this paper, we address these limitations by integrating multiple datasets, encompassing both trajectory and 3D pose keypoints, to propose a pre-trained model for human motion prediction. We merge seven distinct datasets across varying modalities and standardize their formats. To facilitate multimodal pre-training, we introduce Multi-Transmotion, an innovative transformer-based model designed for cross-modality pre-training. Additionally, we present a novel masking strategy to capture rich representations. Our methodology demonstrates competitive performance across various datasets on several downstream tasks, including trajectory prediction in the NBA and JTA datasets, as well as pose prediction in the AMASS and 3DPW datasets. Model LEGO: Creating Models Like Disassembling and Assembling Building Blocks

With the rapid development of deep learning, the increasing complexity and scale of parameters make training a new model increasingly resource-intensive. In this paper, we start from the classic convolutional neural network (CNN) and explore a paradigm that does not require training to obtain new models. Similar to the birth of CNN inspired by receptive fields in the biological visual system, we draw inspiration from the information subsystem pathways in the biological visual system and propose Model Disassembling and Assembling (MDA). During model disassembling, we introduce the concept of relative contribution and propose a component locating technique to extract task-aware components from trained CNN classifiers. For model assembling, we present the alignment padding strategy and parameter scaling strategy to construct a new model tailored for a specific task, utilizing the disassembled task-aware components. The entire process is akin to playing with LEGO bricks, enabling arbitrary assembly of new models, and providing a novel perspective for model creation and reuse. Extensive experiments showcase that task-aware components disassembled from CNN classifiers or new models assembled using these components closely match or even surpass the performance of the baseline, demonstrating its promising results for model reuse. Furthermore, MDA exhibits diverse potential applications, with comprehensive experiments exploring model decision route analysis, model compression, knowledge distillation, and more. Ground calibration and network of the first CATCH pathfinder

The Chasing All Transients Constellation Hunters (CATCH) space mission is focused on exploring the dynamic universe via X-ray follow-up observations of various transients. The first pathfinder of the CATCH mission, CATCH-1, was launched on June 22, 2024, alongside the Space-based multiband astronomical Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) mission. CATCH-1 is equipped with narrow-field optimized Micro Pore Optics (MPOs) featuring a large effective area and incorporates four Silicon Drift Detectors (SDDs) in its focal plane. This paper presents the system calibration results conducted before the satellite integration. Utilizing the data on the performance of the mirror and detectors obtained through the system calibration, combined with simulated data, the ground calibration database can be established. Measuring the relative positions of the mirror and detector system, which were adjusted during system calibration, allows for accurate installation of the entire satellite. Furthermore, the paper outlines the operational workflow of the ground network post-satellite launch.

Measurement of the branching fractions of the decays $Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΛK_{S}^{0}K^{+}$, $Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΛK_{S}^{0}π^{+}$ and $Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΛK^{*+}$

Studies are performed of the Cabibbo-favored decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛK_{S}^{0}K^+$ and the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛK_{S}^{0}π^+$, based on a sample of $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb$^{-1}$, accumulated at center-of-mass energies between $4599.53$ MeV and $4698.82$ MeV with the BESIII detector. The decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛK_{S}^{0}π^+$ is observed for the first time. The branching fractions of $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛK_{S}^{0}K^+$ and $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛK_{S}^{0}π^+$ are measured to be $(3.04\pm0.30\pm0.16)\times 10^{-3}$ and $(1.73\pm0.27\pm0.10)\times 10^{-3}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results correspond to the most precise measurement of these quantities for both decays. Evidence of a $K^{*+}$ contribution in the $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛK_{S}^{0}π^+$ decay is found with a statistical significance of $4.7σ$. The branching fraction of $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛK^{*+}$ is calculated under three possible interference scenarios.

SETA: Semantic-Aware Token Augmentation for Domain Generalization

Domain generalization (DG) aims to enhance the model robustness against domain shifts without accessing target domains. A prevalent category of methods for DG is data augmentation, which focuses on generating virtual samples to simulate domain shifts. However, existing augmentation techniques in DG are mainly tailored for convolutional neural networks (CNNs), with limited exploration in token-based architectures, i.e., vision transformer (ViT) and multi-layer perceptrons (MLP) models. In this paper, we study the impact of prior CNN-based augmentation methods on token-based models, revealing their performance is suboptimal due to the lack of incentivizing the model to learn holistic shape information. To tackle the issue, we propose the SEmantic-aware Token Augmentation (SETA) method. SETA transforms token features by perturbing local edge cues while preserving global shape features, thereby enhancing the model learning of shape information. To further enhance the generalization ability of the model, we introduce two stylized variants of our method combined with two state-of-the-art style augmentation methods in DG. We provide a theoretical insight into our method, demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing the generalization risk bound. Comprehensive experiments on five benchmarks prove that our method achieves SOTA performances across various ViT and MLP architectures. Our code is available at https://github.com/lingeringlight/SETA.

Observation of the Singly Cabibbo-Suppressed Decay $Λ_c^{+}\to pπ^0$

Utilizing 4.5${~\rm{fb}}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV, the first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Λ_c^{+}\to pπ^0$ is presented, with a statistical significance of $5.4σ$. The ratio of the branching fractions of $Λ_c^{+}\to pπ^0$ and $Λ_c^{+}\to pη$ is measured as $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^{+}\to pπ^0)/\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^{+}\to pη)=(0.120\pm0.026_{\rm stat.}\pm0.007_{\rm syst.})$. This result resolves the longstanding discrepancy between earlier experimental searches, providing both a decisive conclusion and valuable input for QCD-inspired theoretical models. A sophisticated deep learning approach using a Transformer-based architecture is employed to distinguish the signal from the prevalent hadronic backgrounds, complemented by thorough validation and systematic uncertainty quantification.

PSST: A Benchmark for Evaluation-driven Text Public-Speaking Style Transfer

Language style is necessary for AI systems to understand and generate diverse human language accurately. However, previous text style transfer primarily focused on sentence-level data-driven approaches, limiting exploration of potential problems in large language models (LLMs) and the ability to meet complex application needs. To overcome these limitations, we introduce a novel task called Public-Speaking Style Transfer (PSST), which aims to simulate humans to transform passage-level, official texts into a public-speaking style. Grounded in the analysis of real-world data from a linguistic perspective, we decompose public-speaking style into key sub-styles to pose challenges and quantify the style modeling capability of LLMs. For such intricate text style transfer, we further propose a fine-grained evaluation framework to analyze the characteristics and identify the problems of stylized texts. Comprehensive experiments suggest that current LLMs struggle to generate public speaking texts that align with human preferences, primarily due to excessive stylization and loss of semantic information.
