Decoupled Self-Forcing Distillation for Streaming Talking Head Generation

Streaming talking-head generation produces each frame as its driving audio arrives, yet fidelity and efficiency have so far pulled in opposite directions: end-to-end methods condition a video diffusion model on audio directly and achieve high quality but only at large scale, while cheaper two-stage methods generate an intermediate motion representation and trail in fidelity. We argue the cost of the former lies in the target of fusion: the video latent is dominated by identity, appearance and background, none of which audio bears on, so coupling audio to every pixel blurs detail and wastes capacity. We instead fuse conditions in a low-dimensional identity-disentangled motion space, routing audio and motion captions by their temporal granularity, and generate motion latents with a small causal autoregressive transformer that a pretrained diffusion renderer turns into video. Conditions thus control video transitively, and high fidelity no longer requires a large backbone. Streaming this decomposition needs both models to be causal, and the exposure-bias problem could be solved by self-forcing given a bidirectional teacher. But there is no such teacher in motion space. Our decoupled self-forcing distillation resolves both models under one frozen teacher: conditioned on motion, it distills the renderer into a block-causal student; unconditionally, it scores rendered rollouts against real videos, supervising motion by the video it produces. This lifts the fidelity ceiling from the motion generator onto the stronger renderer. The two models run as parallel causal streams, reaching 15.4 FPS at 1.3 s latency with no quality degradation.

SemanticGarment: Semantic-Controlled Generation and Editing of 3D Gaussian Garments

3D digital garment generation and editing play a pivotal role in fashion design, virtual try-on, and gaming. Traditional methods struggle to meet the growing demand due to technical complexity and high resource costs. Learning-based approaches offer faster, more diverse garment synthesis based on specific requirements and reduce human efforts and time costs. However, they still face challenges such as inconsistent multi-view geometry or textures and heavy reliance on detailed garment topology and manual rigging. We propose SemanticGarment, a 3D Gaussian-based method that realizes high-fidelity 3D garment generation from text or image prompts and supports semantic-based interactive editing for flexible user customization. To ensure multi-view consistency and garment fitting, we propose to leverage structural human priors for the generative model by introducing a 3D semantic clothing model, which initializes the geometry structure and lays the groundwork for view-consistent garment generation and editing. Without the need to regenerate or rely on existing mesh templates, our approach allows for rapid and diverse modifications to existing Gaussians, either globally or within a local region. To address the artifacts caused by self-occlusion for garment reconstruction based on single image, we develop a self-occlusion optimization strategy to mitigate holes and artifacts that arise when directly animating self-occluded garments. Extensive experiments are conducted to demonstrate our superior performance in 3D garment generation and editing.

Instance-aware Image Colorization with Controllable Textual Descriptions and Segmentation Masks

Recently, the application of deep learning in image colorization has received widespread attention. The maturation of diffusion models has further advanced the development of image colorization models. However, current mainstream image colorization models still face issues such as color bleeding and color binding errors, and cannot colorize images at the instance level. In this paper, we propose a diffusion-based colorization method MT-Color to achieve precise instance-aware colorization with use-provided guidance. To tackle color bleeding issue, we design a pixel-level mask attention mechanism that integrates latent features and conditional gray image features through cross-attention. We use segmentation masks to construct cross-attention masks, preventing pixel information from exchanging between different instances. We also introduce an instance mask and text guidance module that extracts instance masks and text representations of each instance, which are then fused with latent features through self-attention, utilizing instance masks to form self-attention masks to prevent instance texts from guiding the colorization of other areas, thus mitigating color binding errors. Furthermore, we apply a multi-instance sampling strategy, which involves sampling each instance region separately and then fusing the results. Additionally, we have created a specialized dataset for instance-level colorization tasks, GPT-color, by leveraging large visual language models on existing image datasets. Qualitative and quantitative experiments show that our model and dataset outperform previous methods and datasets.

PRIME-DP: Pre-trained Integrated Model for Earthquake Data Processing

We propose a novel seismic wave representation model, namely PRIME-DP (Pre-trained Integrated Model for Earthquake Data Processing), specifically designed for processing seismic waveforms. Most existing models are designed to solve a singular problem. Unlike these models, PRIME-DP is capable of multi-task single station seismic waveform processing, including Pg/Sg/Pn/Sn phase picking and P polarization classification. Moreover, it can be fine-tunned to various tasks, such as event classification without architecture modifications. PRIME-DP can achieve a recall rate of over 85% for Pg and Sg phases on continuous waveforms and achieves over 80% accuracy in P polarization classification. By fine-tuning classification decoder with NeiMeng dataset, PRIME-DP achieves 95.1% accuracy on event.

Multiscale topology classifies and quantifies cell types in subcellular spatial transcriptomics

Spatial transcriptomics has the potential to transform our understanding of RNA expression in tissues. Classical array-based technologies produce multiple-cell-scale measurements requiring deconvolution to recover single cell information. However, rapid advances in subcellular measurement of RNA expression at whole-transcriptome depth necessitate a fundamentally different approach. To integrate single-cell RNA-seq data with nanoscale spatial transcriptomics, we present a topological method for automatic cell type identification (TopACT). Unlike popular decomposition approaches to multicellular resolution data, TopACT is able to pinpoint the spatial locations of individual sparsely dispersed cells without prior knowledge of cell boundaries. Pairing TopACT with multiparameter persistent homology landscapes predicts immune cells forming a peripheral ring structure within kidney glomeruli in a murine model of lupus nephritis, which we experimentally validate with immunofluorescent imaging. The proposed topological data analysis unifies multiple biological scales, from subcellular gene expression to multicellular tissue organization.
