Residual Algebra for Representation-Preserving Learning

Learning from heterogeneous representations is often reduced to feature concatenation, erasing which representation produced each error. We propose residual algebra, in which each representation retains its coordinate system and owns its unresolved residual until an explicit aggregation boundary. Fold instantiates representations as point-in-time conditional-mean fields on 10x10 rank grids, and FPRC-PQ composes them through relax-aggregate-close: each field first fits a correction to its own residual, corrected fields then meet at a fixed mean, and a shared learner closes only the aggregate's fresh residual. We formalize aggregation as a quotient by the zero-sum redistribution kernel, characterizing legal post-aggregation operators as those constant on its cosets. The resulting composition separates representation, local residual estimation, and residual-of-residual estimation, with population variance reduction and first-order coupled-path mean orthogonality. Rumination-B and Rumination-H extend the algebra with quotient-legal finite correction and feedback. On 3.67M Chinese A-share stock-day observations (2023-2026) under a frozen point-in-time protocol, FPRC-PQ raises net-of-cost return from 13.52% to 19.10% and Sharpe from 1.42 to 2.09, outperforming matched-capacity, unified-residual, identity-free two-stage, and pairwise-only controls. The gain is thus attributable to explicit residual ownership and composition rather than additional features or trees.

KRCA: An Efficient Root Cause Analysis System in Hyper-scale Microservice Systems via Agentic AI

Hyper-scale microservice systems have become the standard infrastructure for large-scale Internet companies. These systems consist of numerous loosely coupled microservices that evolve independently through continuous development and deployment. Such complexity makes failures unavoidable, necessitating efficient Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to help Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) quickly localize root cause services and classify failure types. However, existing RCA methods often struggle to adapt to the extreme dynamism and massive scale of these systems. In this paper, we present KRCA, an end-to-end RCA system designed for hyper-scale microservice systems. To manage the vast search space, KRCA employs a multi-stage pipeline that begins with an API-level drilldown to isolate suspicious services. It then instantiates a skeleton-based causal graph from anomalous metrics to serve as a high-recall structural prior, before utilizing a memory-augmented multi-agent framework to verify causality and generate the final failure report. By combining structured causal constraints with multi-agent reasoning, KRCA employs balances diagnostic accuracy with the efficiency requirements of real-time production use. Experimental results show that KRCA achieves AC@1 scores of 0.88 and 0.79 for root cause service localization and failure type classification, outperforming the strongest baseline by at lease 31% in absolute gains. KRCA has been deployed in Kuaishou's production environment for over six months, reducing the average diagnosis time by 77.3%.

JuZhou 1.0 Technical Report: The First Edge-Native Text-to-Image Foundation Model Trained Entirely on China-Developed AI Accelerators

Text-to-image (T2I) diffusion models typically require substantial computational resources and cloud infrastructure, posing significant challenges for edge deployment in terms of latency, cost, and user privacy. We present JuZhou 1.0, an ultra-lightweight T2I foundation model designed for fully offline, on-device execution. JuZhou 1.0 achieves its efficiency through four key designs: (1) a compact image-generation backbone consisting of a 0.385B-parameter denoising U-Net and a 1.90M-parameter distilled decoder, totaling approximately 0.387B parameters; (2) Rectified Flow training combined with DMD2 distillation, reducing inference to 4 sampling steps; (3) Chinese semantic alignment trained on 9M curated image-text pairs, enabling direct Chinese prompting without external translation at inference time; and (4) a training and distillation pipeline completed on domestically developed Sugon K100 AI accelerators without relying on NVIDIA GPUs for training or distillation. Despite its compact scale, the 28-step base model of JuZhou 1.0 achieves an overall GenEval score of 0.69, outperforming published baselines including SDXL (2.6B, 0.55), SD3-Medium (2B, 0.62), and IF-XL (4.3B, 0.61). We further validate the full poetry-to-image pipeline on Android and the core CLIP-U-Net-VAE generation branch on iOS. On a smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, the 4-step U-Net denoising branch runs in approximately 1.6 seconds, while the full Android poetry-to-image pipeline takes 4.5 seconds with on-device prompt refinement on Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. These results position JuZhou 1.0 as a practical approach to mobile text-to-image generation and provide a concrete reference for Chinese-native generation, domestic-compute training, and fully offline on-device deployment after one-time installation.

Controlled chemical vapor deposition for synthesis of emerging Mo(W)Te2 systems

The Group-VI transition metal ditellurides offer a rich platform for correlated and topological phenomena, yet their structural polymorphism and instability complicate the creation of single crystals and heterointerfaces. Here, we introduce a confined-space chemical vapor deposition (CVD) strategy that lowers the growth temperature window and, when combined with tailored precursor configurations and stepwise thermal ramps, enables the deterministic synthesis of high-quality single crystals, alloys, and lateral/vertical heterostructures. High-resolution aberration-corrected STEM provides atomic characterization of lattice-matched Mo(W)Te2 lateral heterostructure, revealing nearly atomically sharp, compositionally well-defined seamless boundaries. This approach avoids the thickness nonuniformity and structural limitations commonly associated with exfoliated samples, enabling reproducible fabrication of clean heterointerfaces and establishing a nearly ideal in-situ experimental system. Furthermore, scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM and STS) enable direct imaging of the seamless boundaries in Mo(W)Te2 lateral heterostructures, while uncovering their distinct real-space distributions of the local density of states. Our results establish a scalable pathway for engineering crystalline Te-based structures with controlled geometry and stacking, providing an essential step toward quantum and topological device platforms based on the transition metal ditellurides family.

Bian Que: An Agentic Framework with Flexible Skill Arrangement for Online System Operations

Operating and maintaining (O&M) large-scale online engine systems (eg, search, recommendation and advertising) demands substantial human effort for release monitoring, alert response, and root cause analysis. Despite the inherent suitability of LLM-based agents for such operational scenarios, the critical bottleneck impeding their practical deployment lies not in reasoning, but in orchestration capability - specifically, the precise selection of relevant data (encompassing metrics, logs, and change events) and applicable knowledge (including handbook-defined rules and empirically derived practitioner experience) tailored to each individual operational event. Feeding all signals indiscriminately causes dilution and hallucination, while manually curating the event-to-(data, knowledge) mapping is intractable under dozens of daily releases. Here we present Bian Que, an agentic operating framework with three contributions: (i) The unified operational paradigm, which abstracts routine daily O&M actions into three canonical patterns: release interception, proactive inspection, and alert root cause analysis; (ii) The flexible Skill Arrangement, each predefined Skill explicitly defines the requisite data and operational knowledge for each specific context. Such Skills can be automatically generated and updated by LLM agents, and can also be iteratively optimized by on-call engineers via natural language instructions. (iii) The unified self-evolving mechanism, where each correction signal enables two parallel evolutionary pathways: distilling event memory into knowledge, and targeted refinement of Skills. Deployed on the e-commerce search engine of KuaiShou, Bian Que reduces alert volume by 75%, achieves 80% root-cause analysis accuracy, cuts mean time to resolution by over 50%, and attains a 99.0% pass rate on offline evaluations. QuarkMedSearch: A Long-Horizon Deep Search Agent for Exploring Medical Intelligence

As agentic foundation models continue to evolve, how to further improve their performance in vertical domains has become an important challenge. To this end, building upon Tongyi DeepResearch, a powerful agentic foundation model, we focus on the Chinese medical deep search scenario and propose QuarkMedSearch, systematically exploring a full-pipeline approach spanning medical multi-hop data construction, training strategies, and evaluation benchmarks to further push and assess its performance upper bound in vertical domains. Specifically, for data synthesis, to address the scarcity of deep search training data in the medical domain, we combine a large-scale medical knowledge graph with real-time online exploration to construct long-horizon medical deep search training data; for post-training, we adopt a two-stage SFT and RL training strategy that progressively enhances the model's planning, tool invocation, and reflection capabilities required for deep search, while maintaining search efficiency; for evaluation, we collaborate with medical experts to construct the QuarkMedSearch Benchmark through rigorous manual verification. Experimental results demonstrate that QuarkMedSearch achieves state-of-the-art performance among open-source models of comparable scale on the QuarkMedSearch Benchmark, while also maintaining strong competitiveness on general benchmarks.

QuarkMedBench: A Real-World Scenario Driven Benchmark for Evaluating Large Language Models

While Large Language Models (LLMs) excel on standardized medical exams, high scores often fail to translate to high-quality responses for real-world medical queries. Current evaluations rely heavily on multiple-choice questions, failing to capture the unstructured, ambiguous, and long-tail complexities inherent in genuine user inquiries. To bridge this gap, we introduce QuarkMedBench, an ecologically valid benchmark tailored for real-world medical LLM assessment. We compiled a massive dataset spanning Clinical Care, Wellness Health, and Professional Inquiry, comprising 20,821 single-turn queries and 3,853 multi-turn sessions. To objectively evaluate open-ended answers, we propose an automated scoring framework that integrates multi-model consensus with evidence-based retrieval to dynamically generate 220,617 fine-grained scoring rubrics (~9.8 per query). During evaluation, hierarchical weighting and safety constraints structurally quantify medical accuracy, key-point coverage, and risk interception, effectively mitigating the high costs and subjectivity of human grading. Experimental results demonstrate that the generated rubrics achieve a 91.8% concordance rate with clinical expert blind audits, establishing highly dependable medical reliability. Crucially, baseline evaluations on this benchmark reveal significant performance disparities among state-of-the-art models when navigating real-world clinical nuances, highlighting the limitations of conventional exam-based metrics. Ultimately, QuarkMedBench establishes a rigorous, reproducible yardstick for measuring LLM performance on complex health issues, while its framework inherently supports dynamic knowledge updates to prevent benchmark obsolescence.

Hierarchical Observe-Orient-Decide-Act Enabled UAV Swarms in Uncertain Environments: Frameworks, Potentials, and Challenges

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarms are increasingly explored for their potentials in various applications such as surveillance, disaster response, and military. However, UAV swarms face significant challenges of implementing effective and rapid decisions under dynamic and uncertain environments. The traditional decision-making frameworks, mainly relying on centralized control and rigid architectures, are limited by their adaptability and scalability especially in complex environments. To overcome these challenges, in this paper, we propose a hierarchical Observe-Orient-Decide-Act (H-OODA) loop based framework for the UAV swarm operation in uncertain environments, which is implemented by embedding the classical OODA loop across the cloud-edge-terminal layers, and leveraging the network function virtualization (NFV) technology to provide flexible and scalable decision-making functions. In addition, based on the proposed H-OODA framework, we joint autonomous decision-making and cooperative control to enhance the adaptability and efficiency of UAV swarms. Furthermore, we present some typical case studies to verify the improvement and efficiency of the proposed framework. Finally, the potential challenges and possible directions are analyzed to provide insights for the future H-OODA enabled UAV swarms.

A Blockchain-Based Trust Framework for Resilient Cross-Domain UAV Service Orchestration

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks are increasingly deployed for complex missions, including disaster response, intelligent logistics, and environmental monitoring. These missions generally require coordinated collaboration among multiple UAVs across distinct administrative domains. To support such cross-domain cooperation, service function chains (SFCs) are constructed, where complex workflows are decomposed into ordered service functions assigned to appropriate UAVs along the mission path. However, it is challenging to ensure secure, trustworthy, and low-latency cross-domain SFC orchestration in identity management, authentication, and resilience to node failures. To address these issues, this paper proposes a consortium blockchain-based trust architecture for cross-domain decentralized identity verification, auditable task execution, and dynamic service-aware orchestrator selection. The framework employs a hierarchical four-phase cross-domain authentication protocol covering the credential pre-verification, intra-domain execution, secure relay, and audit logging. The use case analysis confirms that the proposed framework achieves substantial reductions in authentication latency and significant improvements in system throughput against centralized and static schemes. The open challenges in scalability, adaptive trust assessment, interoperability, and energy efficiency are discussed, thereby providing directions for future researches on secure and efficient cross-domain UAV service orchestration.

SDN-Blockchain Based Security Routing for UAV Communication via Reinforcement Learning

The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) network plays important roles in emergency communications. However, it is challenging to design reliable routing strategies that ensure low latency, energy efficiency, and security in the dynamic and attack-prone environments. To this end, we design a secure routing architecture integrating software-defined networking (SDN) for centralized control and blockchain for tamper-proof trust management. In particular, a novel security degree metric is introduced to quantify the UAV trustworthiness. Based on this architecture, we propose a beam search-proximal policy optimization (BSPPO) algorithm, where beam search (BS) pre-screens the high-security candidate paths, and proximal policy optimization (PPO) performs hop-by-hop routing decisions to support dynamic rerouting upon attack detections. Finally, extensive simulations under varying attack densities, packet sizes, and rerouting events demonstrate that BSPPO outperforms PPO, BS-Q learning, and BS-actor critic in terms of delay, energy consumption, and transmission success rate, showing the outstanding robustness and adaptability.

Limit Order Book Dynamics in Matching Markets: Microstructure, Spread, and Execution Slippage

Conventional models of matching markets assume that monetary transfers can clear markets by compensating for utility differentials. However, empirical patterns show that such transfers often fail to close structural preference gaps. This paper introduces a market microstructure framework that models matching decisions as a limit order book system with rigid bid ask spreads. Individual preferences are represented by a latent preference state matrix, where the spread between an agent's internal ask price (the unconditional maximum) and the market's best bid (the reachable maximum) creates a structural liquidity constraint. We establish a Threshold Impossibility Theorem showing that linear compensation cannot close these spreads unless it induces a categorical identity shift. A dynamic discrete choice execution model further demonstrates that matches occur only when the market to book ratio crosses a time decaying liquidity threshold, analogous to order execution under inventory pressure. Numerical experiments validate persistent slippage, regional invariance of preference orderings, and high tier zero spread executions. The model provides a unified microstructure explanation for matching failures, compensation inefficiency, and post match regret in illiquid order driven environments.

A Lightweight Authentication and Key Agreement Protocol Design for FANET

The advancement of low-altitude intelligent networks enables unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) interconnection via flying ad-hoc networks (FANETs), offering flexibility and decentralized coordination. However, resource constraints, dynamic topologies, and UAV operations in open environments present significant security and communication challenges. Existing multi-factor and public-key cryptography protocols are vulnerable due to their reliance on stored sensitive information, increasing the risk of exposure and compromise. This paper proposes a lightweight authentication and key agreement protocol for FANETs, integrating physical unclonable functions with dynamic credential management and lightweight cryptographic primitives. The protocol reduces computational and communication overhead while enhancing security. Security analysis confirms its resilience against various attacks, and comparative evaluations demonstrate its superiority in security, communication efficiency, and computational cost.

HierCVAE: Hierarchical Attention-Driven Conditional Variational Autoencoders for Multi-Scale Temporal Modeling

Temporal modeling in complex systems requires capturing dependencies across multiple time scales while managing inherent uncertainties. We propose HierCVAE, a novel architecture that integrates hierarchical attention mechanisms with conditional variational autoencoders to address these challenges. HierCVAE employs a three-tier attention structure (local, global, cross-temporal) combined with multi-modal condition encoding to capture temporal, statistical, and trend information. The approach incorporates ResFormer blocks in the latent space and provides explicit uncertainty quantification via prediction heads. Through evaluations on energy consumption datasets, HierCVAE demonstrates a 15-40% improvement in prediction accuracy and superior uncertainty calibration compared to state-of-the-art methods, excelling in long-term forecasting and complex multi-variate dependencies.

J6: Jacobian-Driven Role Attribution for Multi-Objective Prompt Optimization in LLMs

In large language model (LLM) adaptation, balancing multiple optimization objectives such as improving factuality (heat) and increasing confidence (via low entropy) poses a fundamental challenge, especially when prompt parameters (e.g., hidden-layer insertions h and embedding modifications w) interact in non-trivial ways. Existing multi-objective optimization strategies often rely on scalar gradient aggregation, ignoring the deeper geometric structure between objectives and parameters. We propose J6, a structured Jacobian-based method that decomposes the gradient interaction matrix into six interpretable components. This decomposition enables both hard decision-making (e.g., choosing the dominant update direction via argmax) and soft strategies (e.g., attention-style weighting via softmax over J6), forming a dynamic update framework that adapts to local conflict and synergy. Moreover, the interpretable structure of J6 provides insight into parameter attribution, task interference, and geometry-aligned adaptation. Our work introduces a principled and extensible mechanism for conflict-aware prompt optimization, and opens a new avenue for incorporating structured Jacobian reasoning into multi-objective neural tuning.

Delay Optimization in Remote ID-Based UAV Communication via BLE and Wi-Fi Switching

The remote identification (Remote ID) broadcast capability allows unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to exchange messages, which is a pivotal technology for inter-UAV communications. Although this capability enhances the operational visibility, low delay in Remote ID-based communications is critical for ensuring the efficiency and timeliness of multi-UAV operations in dynamic environments. To address this challenge, we first establish delay models for Remote ID communications by considering packet reception and collisions across both BLE 4 and Wi-Fi protocols. Building upon these models, we formulate an optimization problem to minimize the long-term communication delay through adaptive protocol selection. Since the delay performance varies with the UAV density, we propose an adaptive BLE/Wi-Fi switching algorithm based on the multi-agent deep Q-network approach. Experimental results demonstrate that in dynamic-density scenarios, our strategy achieves 32.1% and 37.7% lower latency compared to static BLE 4 and Wi-Fi modes respectively.

Investigating and Mitigating Stereotype-aware Unfairness in LLM-based Recommendations

Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated unprecedented language understanding and reasoning capabilities to capture diverse user preferences and advance personalized recommendations. Despite the growing interest in LLM-based recommendations, unique challenges are brought to the trustworthiness of LLM-based recommender systems (LLM-RS). Compared to unique user/item representations in conventional recommender systems, users and items share the textual representation (e.g., word embeddings) in LLM-based recommendations. Recent studies have revealed that LLMs are likely to inherit stereotypes that are embedded ubiquitously in word embeddings, due to their training on large-scale uncurated datasets. This leads to LLM-RS exhibiting stereotypical linguistic associations between users and items, causing a form of two-sided (i.e., user-to-item) recommendation fairness. However, there remains a lack of studies investigating the unfairness of LLM-RS due to intrinsic stereotypes, which can simultaneously involve user and item groups. To bridge this gap, this study reveals a new variant of fairness between stereotype groups containing both users and items, to quantify discrimination against stereotypes in LLM-RS. Moreover, in this paper, to mitigate stereotype-aware unfairness in textual user and item representations, we propose a novel framework named Mixture-of-Stereotypes (MoS). In particular, an insightful stereotype-wise routing strategy over multiple stereotype-relevant experts is designed, aiming to learn unbiased representations against different stereotypes in LLM-RS. Extensive experiments are conducted to analyze the influence of stereotype-aware fairness in LLM-RS and the effectiveness of our proposed methods, which consistently outperform competitive benchmarks under various fairness settings.

CLIP-FSAC++: Few-Shot Anomaly Classification with Anomaly Descriptor Based on CLIP

Industrial anomaly classification (AC) is an indispensable task in industrial manufacturing, which guarantees quality and safety of various product. To address the scarcity of data in industrial scenarios, lots of few-shot anomaly detection methods emerge recently. In this paper, we propose an effective few-shot anomaly classification (FSAC) framework with one-stage training, dubbed CLIP-FSAC++. Specifically, we introduce a cross-modality interaction module named Anomaly Descriptor following image and text encoders, which enhances the correlation of visual and text embeddings and adapts the representations of CLIP from pre-trained data to target data. In anomaly descriptor, image-to-text cross-attention module is used to obtain image-specific text embeddings and text-to-image cross-attention module is used to obtain text-specific visual embeddings. Then these modality-specific embeddings are used to enhance original representations of CLIP for better matching ability. Comprehensive experiment results are provided for evaluating our method in few-normal shot anomaly classification on VisA and MVTEC-AD for 1, 2, 4 and 8-shot settings.
