An optimal dispatch scheme for DSO and prosumers by implementing three-phase distribution locational marginal prices

Since distribution system operator (DSO) cannot directly control prosumers with controllable resources, this paper proposes an optimal dispatch method of using three-phase distribution locational marginal prices (DLMPs) as effective economic signals to incentivize prosumers' behaviors. In the proposed three-phase DLMP model, DLMPs for both active power and reactive power are calculated. To alleviate the imbalance, congestions and voltage violations in active distribution networks (ADNs),the DSO and prosumers should be coordinated. We develop such a coordinated control scheme for the DSO and prosumers,in which the DSO generates and broadcasts three-phase DLMPs as price signals to induce prosumers' behaviors. We prove that given the DLMPs for active power and reactive power as settlement prices, the optimal dispatch of the ADN will also maximize the surplus of prosumers. Therefore, the power output of rational prosumers will match the optimal dispatch, resulting in better operational conditions of ADNs. Then the three-phase imbalance, congestions and voltage violations will be well reduced. Numerical tests demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Generalized Coordinated Transaction Scheduling: A Market Approach to Seamless Interfaces

A generalization of the coordinated transaction scheduling (CTS)---the state-of-the-art interchange scheduling---is proposed. Referred to as generalized coordinated transaction scheduling (GCTS), the proposed approach addresses major seams issues of CTS: the ad hoc use of proxy buses, the presence of loop flow as a result of proxy bus approximation, and difficulties in dealing with multiple interfaces. By allowing market participants to submit bids across market boundaries, GCTS also generalizes the joint economic dispatch that achieves seamless interchange without market participants. It is shown that GCTS asymptotically achieves seamless interface under certain conditions. GCTS is also shown to be revenue adequate in that each regional market has a non-negative net revenue that is equal to its congestion rent. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the quantitative improvement of the proposed approach.

On Robust Tie-line Scheduling in Multi-Area Power Systems

The tie-line scheduling problem in a multi-area power system seeks to optimize tie-line power flows across areas that are independently operated by different system operators (SOs). In this paper, we leverage the theory of multi-parametric linear programming to propose algorithms for optimal tie-line scheduling within a deterministic and a robust optimization framework. Through a coordinator, the proposed algorithms are proved to converge to the optimal schedule within a finite number of iterations. A key feature of the proposed algorithms, besides their finite step convergence, is the privacy of the information exchanges; the SO in an area does not need to reveal its dispatch cost structure, network constraints, or the nature of the uncertainty set to the coordinator. The performance of the algorithms is evaluated using several power system examples.

Porous Structure Design in Tissue Engineering Using Anisotropic Radial Basis Function

Development of additive manufacturing in last decade greatly improves tissue engineering. During the manufacturing of porous scaffold, simplified but functionally equivalent models are getting focused for practically reasons. Scaffolds can be classified into regular porous scaffolds and irregular porous scaffolds. Several methodologies are developed to design these scaffolds. A novel method is proposed in this paper using anisotropic radial basis function (ARBF) interpolation. This is method uses geometric models such as volumetric meshes as input and proves to be flexible because geometric models are able to capture the characteristics of complex tissues easily. Moreover, this method is straightforward and easy to implement.

Coordinated Multi-area Economic Dispatch via Critical Region Projection

A coordinated economic dispatch method for multi-area power systems is proposed. Choosing boundary phase angles as coupling variables, the proposed method exploits the structure of critical regions in local problems defined by active and inactive constraints. For a fixed boundary state given by the coordinator, local operators compute the coefficients of critical regions containing the boundary state and of the optimal cost functions then communicate them to the coordinator who in turn optimizes the boundary state to minimize the overall cost. By iterating between local operators and the coordinator, the proposed algorithm converges to the global optimal solution in finite steps, and it requires limited information sharing.
