Exploring LLM-based Verilog Code Generation with Data-Efficient Fine-Tuning and Testbench Automation

Recent advances in large language models have improved code generation, but their use in hardware description languages is still limited. Moreover, training data and testbenches for these models are often scarce. This paper presents a workflow that uses multi-agent models to generate testbenches for high-quality fine-tuning data. By automating testbench creation, the fine-tuned model for the specification-to-Verilog task achieves performance comparable to state-of-the-art methods on the refined VerilogEval v2 benchmark while using less training data. This study provides a basis for future work on LLM-based HDL generation and automated verification.

Strong angular dependent transmission ratio due to interplay between spin waves and the domain wall in perpendicular magnetic anisotropy materials

Spin waves (SW) can induce rich domain wall (DW) motion in a perpendicular-magnetic anisotropy nanostrip. In-plane magnetization tilt angle resulting from the fluctuation of the effective field of the magnetization response in the DW region plays an essential role in the dynamics of SW interacting with a DW. We performed simulation and found that the transmission ratio of the propagating SW across the DW depends strongly on the tilt angle in the low-frequency regime. The material parameters and the geometrical configuration can be fine-tuned for practical devices.

Negative Off-Diagonal Conductivities in a Weakly Coupled Quark Gluon Plasma

We calculate the conductivity matrix of a weakly coupled quark-gluon plasma at the leading-log order. By setting all quark chemical potentials to be identical, the diagonal conductivities become degenerate and positive, while the off-diagonal ones become degenerate but negative (or zero when the chemical potential vanishes). This means a potential gradient of a certain fermion flavor can drive backward currents of other flavors. A simple explanation is provided for this seemingly counter intuitive phenomenon. It is speculated that this phenomenon is generic and most easily measured in cold atom experiments.

Shear and Bulk Viscosities of a Weakly Coupled Quark Gluon Plasma with Finite Chemical Potential and Temperature---Leading-Log Results

We calculate the shear (eta) and bulk (zeta) viscosities of a weakly coupled quark gluon plasma at the leading-log order with finite temperature T and quark chemical potential mu. We find that the shear viscosity to entropy density ratio eta/s increases monotonically with mu and eventually scales as (mu/T)^2 at large mu. In contrary, zeta/s is insensitive to mu. Both eta/s and zeta/s are monotonically decreasing functions of the quark flavor number N_f when N_f \geq 2. This property is also observed in pion gas systems. Our perturbative calculation suggests that QCD becomes the most perfect (i.e. with the smallest eta/s) at mu=0 and N_f = 16 (the maximum N_f with asymptotic freedom). It would be interesting to test whether the currently smallest eta/s computed close to the phase transition with mu=0 and N_f = 0 can be further reduced by increasing N_f.

QCD Viscosity to Entropy Density Ratio in the Hadronic Phase

Shear viscosity (eta) of QCD in the hadronic phase is computed by the coupled Boltzmann equations of pions and nucleons in low temperatures and low baryon number densities. The eta to entropy density ratio eta/s maps out the nuclear gas-liquid phase transition by forming a valley tracing the phase transition line in the temperature-chemical potential plane. When the phase transition turns into a crossover, the eta/s valley gradually disappears. We suspect the general feature for a first-order phase transition is that eta/s has a discontinuity in the bottom of the eta/s valley. The discontinuity coincides with the phase transition line and ends at the critical point. Beyond the critical point, a smooth eta/s valley is seen. However, the valley could disappear further away from the critical point. The eta/s measurements might provide an alternative to identify the critical points.
