Vector-Valued Period Polynomials and Zeta Values of Quadratic Fields

Let $k\ge 2$ and $N\ge 1$ be integers. Let $D$ be a positive integer that is congruent to a square modulo $4N$, and fix $ρ$ with $ρ^2\equiv D\pmod{4N}$. In this paper, we consider two weight $2k$ cusp forms $f^{\pm}_{k,N,D,ρ}$ on $Γ_0(N)$ defined by sums over binary quadratic forms, and investigate the vector-valued period polynomial arising from these forms. Our first main result gives a closed formula for this vector-valued period polynomial. The identity component of this formula is particularly explicit: it separates as the sum of a finite \textit{algebraic part} coming from some binary forms and a \textit{zeta part} involving the values at $s=k$ of certain zeta functions. Using this formula together with a symmetry of vector-valued period polynomials, we explicitly evaluate, for odd $k$, the difference between the zeta values corresponding to the two choices of square root of $D$ modulo $4N$, in terms of Bernoulli numbers and a finite quadratic-form sum. Finally, under a vanishing condition on Fricke-invariant cusp forms at lower levels, we obtain a finite divisor-sum formula for the Dedekind zeta values $ζ_{\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{D})}(k)$ at even integers $k$.

On the structure of prime-detecting quasimodular forms in higher levels

Craig, van Ittersum, and Ono conjectured that every prime-detecting quasimodular form of level $1$ is a quasimodular Eisenstein series. This conjecture was proved by Kane--Krishnamoorthy--Lau and by van Ittersum--Mauth--Ono--Singh independently. However, in higher levels, prime-detecting quasimodular forms need not be Eisenstein. Recently, Kane, Krishnamoorthy, and Lau formulated a natural higher level analogue of the above conjecture and proved it by analytic methods. In a similar direction, but via an alternative approach based on the independence of characters of $\ell$-adic Galois representations, we prove that any prime-detecting quasimodular form on $Γ_{0}(N)$ belongs to the direct sum of the spaces of quasimodular Eisenstein series and quasimodular oldforms. Moreover, for a quasimodular form $f$ that is not prime-detecting, we give an upper bound for the number of primes $p$ less than $X$ for which the $p$-th Fourier coefficient of a quasimodular form vanishes.

Nonvanishing of $L$-function of some Hecke characters on cyclotomic fields

In this paper, we show the nonvanishing of some Hecke characters on cyclotomic fields. The main ingredient of this paper is a computation of eigenfunctions and the action of Weil representation at some primes including the primes above $2$. As an application, we show that for each isogeny factor of the Jacobian of the $p$-th Fermat curve where $2$ is a quadratic residue modulo $p$, there are infinitely many twists whose analytic rank is zero. Also, for a certain hyperelliptic curve over the $11$-th cyclotomic field whose Jacobian has complex multiplication, there are infinitely many twists whose analytic rank is zero.

Rationality and p-adic properties of reduced forms of half-integral weight

In this paper we study special bases of certain spaces of half-integral weight weakly holomorphic modular forms. We establish a criterion for the integrality of Fourier coefficients of such bases. By using recursive relations between Hecke operators, we derive relations of Fourier coefficients of each basis element and obtain congruences of the Fourier coefficients, which extend known congruences for traces of singular moduli.
