Scattering, Hawking Radiation and Neutrino Energy Deposition in Euler-Heisenberg Black Holes Surrounded by Perfect Fluid Dark Matter

We study the dynamical and scattering properties for the Euler-Heisenberg BH surrounded by perfect fluid dark matter. The geometry contains a compact non-linear electrodynamic correction governed by the EH coupling and a logarithmic dark-matter contribution governed by the surrounding PFDM halo. We study the scalar, electromagnetic and a particular effective axial spin-2 channel constructed on the fixed EH plus PFDM background, acting as a proxy for the gravitational-like perturbation problem and not for the fully coupled gravitational perturbation problem. We compute the quasinormal-mode spectrum employing a thirteenth-order WKB method supplemented with Pad\'e resummation and compare it with the eikonal prediction calculated in terms of the angular frequency of the photon sphere and the Lyapunov exponent. Moreover, we study the near-extremal configurations and derive a purely imaginary branch of quasinormal frequencies in the near-horizon region, whose damping rate increases with the PFDM parameter and is nearly spin-independent. We then compute exact greybody factors by direct numerical integration of the radial wave equation and compare them to analytical lower bounds. We also analyze the absorption cross sections and the Hawking emission spectra. We also calculate the relativistic enhancement of the neutrino-antineutrino annihilation channel outside the EHPFDM black hole. We find that the PFDM parameter contracts the optical structure, increases the oscillation frequency, enhances the damping rate and suppresses transmission. On the other hand, the Euler-Heisenberg correction leads to a weaker near-horizon deformation whose effect becomes relevant for sufficiently large charge. These results provide a common scattering framework for comparing the impact of dark-matter environments and nonlinear electrodynamics

Quasinormal modes for a non-minimally coupled scalar field in a five-dimensional Einstein-power-Maxwell background

We study the propagation of massless scalar fields non-minimally coupled to gravity in the background of five-dimensional Einstein-power-Maxwell black holes, and using the WKB and the pseudospectral Chebyshev methods we obtain the quasinormal frequencies (QNFs), which allow us to show the existence of stable and unstable QNFs depending on the power $k$ of the nonlinear electrodynamics, the $ξ$ parameter, which controls the strength of the non-minimal coupling, and on the size of the black hole.

Phase transitions in four-dimensional AdS black holes with a nonlinear electrodynamics source

In this work we consider black hole solutions to Einstein theory coupled to a nonlinear power-law electromagnetic field with a fixed exponent value. We study the extended phase space thermodynamics in canonical and grand canonical ensembles where the varying cosmological constant plays the role of an effective thermodynamic pressure. We examine thermodynamical phase transitions in such black hols and find that both first and second order phase transitions can occur in the canonical ensemble, while for the grand canonical ensemble the Hawking-Page and second order phase transitions are allowed.

Perturbative and nonperturbative fermionic quasinormal modes of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet-AdS black holes

In this work, we present the quasinormal modes of a fermionic field in the background of Gauss-Bonnet-AdS black holes. We find exact solutions for $D=5$ at the fixed value $α=R^2/2$ of the Gauss--Bonnet coupling constant, with $R$ denoting the AdS radius, and we find numerical solutions for some range of values of the coupling constant $α$ and $D=5, 6$. Mainly, we find two branches of quasinormal frequencies, a branch perturbative in the Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant $α$, and another branch nonperturbative in $α$. The phenomena of nonperturbative modes, which seem to be quite general in theories with higher curvature corrections, have been obtained in the spectrum of gravitational field perturbations and scalar field perturbations in previous works. We show that it also arises for fermionic field perturbations and therefore seems to be independent of the spin of the field under consideration. However, in contrast to gravitational and scalar field perturbations, where the nonperturbative modes are purely imaginary, we find that for fermionic field perturbations the nonperturbative modes acquire a real part. We find that the imaginary part of the quasinormal frequencies is always negative in both branches; therefore, the spherical Gauss-Bonnet-AdS black holes are stable against fermionic field perturbations.

Bounded orbits for photons as a consequence of extra dimensions

In this work, we study the geodesic structure for a geometry described by a spherically symmetric four-dimensional solution embedded in a five-dimensional space known as a brane-based spherically symmetric solution. Mainly, we have found that the extra dimension contributes to the existence of bounded orbits for the photons, such as planetary and circular stable orbits that have not been observed for other geometries.

Evanescent gravitons in Warped Anti-de Sitter space

Besides black holes, the phase space of three-dimensional massive gravity about Warped-Anti de Sitter (WAdS) space contains solutions that decay exponentially in time. They describe evanescent graviton configurations that, while governed by a wave equation with non-vanishing effective mass, do not carry net gravitational energy. Explicit examples of such solutions have been found in the case of Topologically Massive Gravity; here, we generalize them to a much more general ghost-free massive deformation, with the difference being that the decay rate gets corrected due to the presence of higher-order terms.

Teleparallel Equivalent of Lovelock Gravity

There is a growing interest in modified gravity theories based on torsion, as these theories exhibit interesting cosmological implications. In this work, inspired by the teleparallel formulation of general relativity, we present its extension to Lovelock gravity known as the most natural extension of general relativity in higher-dimensional space-times. First, we review the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity and Gauss-Bonnet gravity, and then we construct the teleparallel equivalent of Lovelock gravity. In order to achieve this goal we use the vielbein and the connection without imposing the Weitzenb{ö}ck connection. Then, we extract the teleparallel formulation of the theory by setting the curvature to null.

Quasinormal modes of Four Dimensional Topological Nonlinear Charged Lifshitz Black Holes

We study scalar perturbations of four dimensional topological nonlinear charged Lifshitz black holes with spherical and plane transverse sections, and we find numerically the quasinormal modes for scalar fields. Then, we study the stability of these black holes under massive and massless scalar field perturbations. We focus our study on the dependence of the dynamical exponent, the nonlinear exponent, the angular momentum and the mass of the scalar field in the modes. It is found that the modes are overdamped depending strongly on the dynamical exponent and the angular momentum of the scalar field for a spherical transverse section. In constrast, for plane transverse sections the modes are always overdamped.

Quasinormal modes and greybody factors of a four-dimensional Lifshitz black hole with z=0

We study scalar perturbations for a four-dimensional asymptotically Lifshitz black hole in conformal gravity with dynamical exponent z=0, and spherical topology for the transverse section, and we find analytically and numerically the quasinormal modes for scalar fields for some special cases. Then, we study the stability of these black holes under scalar field perturbations and the greybody factors.

Motion of particles on a Four-Dimensional Asymptotically AdS Black Hole with Scalar Hair

Motivated by black hole solutions with matter fields outside their horizon, we study the effect of these matter fields in the motion of massless and massive particles. We consider as background a four-dimensional asymptotically AdS black hole with scalar hair. The geodesics are studied numerically and we discuss about the differences in the motion of particles between the four-dimensional asymptotically AdS black holes with scalar hair and their no-hair limit, that is, Schwarzschild AdS black holes. Mainly, we found that there are bounded orbits like planetary orbits in this background. However, the periods associated to circular orbits are modified by the presence of the scalar hair. Besides, we found that some classical tests such as perihelion precession, deflection of light and gravitational time delay have the standard value of general relativity plus a correction term coming from the cosmological constant and the scalar hair. Finally, we found a specific value of the parameter associated to the scalar hair, in order to explain the discrepancy between the theory and the observations, for the perihelion precession of Mercury and light deflection.

Greybody Factors of Massive Charged Fermionic Fields in a Charged Two-Dimensional Dilatonic Black Hole

We study massive charged fermionic perturbations in the background of a charged two-dimensional dilatonic black hole, and we solve the Dirac equation analytically. Then, we compute the reflection and transmission coefficients and the absorption cross section for massive charged fermionic fields, and we show that the absorption cross section vanishes at the low and high frequency limits. However, there is a range of frequencies where the absorption cross section is not null. Furthermore, we study the effect of the mass and electric charge of the fermionic field over the absorption cross section.

Extremal Hairy Black Holes

We consider a gravitating system consisting of a scalar field minimally coupled to gravity with a self-interacting potential and an U(1) electromagnetic field. Solving the coupled Einstein-Maxwell-scalar system we find exact hairy charged black hole solutions with the scalar field regular everywhere. We go to the zero temperature limit and we study the effect of the scalar field on the near horizon geometry of an extremal black hole. We find that except a critical value of the charge of the black hole there is also a critical value of the charge of the scalar field beyond of which the extremal black hole is destabilized. We study the thermodynamics of these solutions and we find that if the space is flat then at low temperature the Reissner-Nordström black hole is thermodynamically preferred, while if the space is AdS the hairy charged black hole is thermodynamically preferred at low temperature.

Scalar field perturbations of a Lifshitz black hole in conformal gravity in three dimensions

We study the reflection and transmission coefficients and the absorption cross section for scalar fields in the background of a Lifshitz black hole in three-dimensional conformal gravity with $z=0$, and we show that the absorption cross section vanishes at the low and high frequency limit. Also, we determine the quasinormal modes of scalar perturbations and then we study the stability of these black holes under scalar field perturbations.

Dirac Quasinormal Modes of New Type Black Holes in New Massive Gravity

We study new type black holes in three-dimensional New Massive Gravity and we calculate analytically the quasinormal modes for fermionic perturbations for some special cases. Then, we show that for these cases the new type black holes are stable under fermionic field perturbations.

Dirac quasinormal modes for a 4-dimensional Lifshitz Black Hole

We study the quasinormal modes of fermionic perturbations for an asymptotically Lifshitz black hole in 4-dimensions with dynamical exponent z=2 and plane topology for the transverse section, and we find analytically and numerically the quasinormal modes for massless fermionic fields by using the improved asymptotic iteration method and the Horowitz-Hubeny method. The quasinormal frequencies are purely imaginary and negative, which guarantees the stability of these black holes under massless fermionic field perturbations. Remarkably, both numerical methods yield consistent results; i.e., both methods converge to the exact quasinormal frequencies; however, the improved asymptotic iteration method converges in a fewer number of iterations. Also, we find analytically the quasinormal modes for massive fermionic fields for the mode with lowest angular momentum. In this case, the quasinormal frequencies are purely imaginary and negative, which guarantees the stability of these black holes under fermionic field perturbations. Moreover, we show that the lowest quasinormal frequencies have real and imaginary parts for the mode with higher angular momentum by using the improved asymptotic iteration method.

Compact extra dimensions in cosmologies with f(T) structure

The presence of compact extra dimensions in cosmological scenarios in the context of f(T)-like gravities is discussed. For the case of toroidal compactifications, the analysis is performed in an arbitrary number of extra dimensions. Spherical topologies for the extra dimensions are then carefully studied in six and seven spacetime dimensions, where the proper vielbein fields responsible for the parallelization process are found.

Four-Dimensional Asymptotically AdS Black Holes with Scalar Hair

We present a new family of asymptotically AdS four-dimensional black hole solutions with scalar hair of a gravitating system consisting of a scalar field minimally coupled to gravity with a self-interacting potential. For a certain profile of the scalar field we solve the Einstein equations and we determine the scalar potential. Thermodynamically we show that there is a critical temperature below which there is a phase transition of a black hole with hyperbolic horizon to the new hairy black hole configuration.

Quasinormal Modes, Stability Analysis and Absorption Cross Section for 4-dimensional Topological Lifshitz Black Hole

We study scalar perturbations in the background of a Topological Lifshitz black hole in four dimensions. We compute analytically the quasinormal modes and from these modes we show that Topological Lifshitz black hole is stable. On the other hand, we compute the reflection and transmission coefficients and the absorption cross section and we show that there is a range of modes with high angular momentum which contributes to the absorption cross section in the low frequency limit. Furthermore, in this limit, we show that the absorption cross section decreases if the scalar field mass increases, for a real scalar field mass.
