Latent Variable-Mediated Cross-Learning for Few-Shot Acoustic Impedance Imaging

Acoustic impedance imaging is a fundamental yet severely ill-posed problem in subsurface analysis: the seismic wavelet is unknown, observations are band-limited, and labeled well-log samples are extremely scarce (typically <1% of all traces). Existing semi-supervised deep learning methods mitigate few-shot problem by incorporating forward modeling, yet they either rely on inaccurate prior wavelet assumptions or introduce auxiliary networks, leading to unstable optimization and degraded performance. We propose RD-SCL, a novel framework that integrates regularized deconvolution with semi-supervised cross-learning. At its core lies a differentiable, closed-form first-order Tikhonov deconvolution operator that dynamically estimates the latent wavelet in the frequency domain during training, providing stable physics-guided feedback without explicit auxiliary networks and fixed wavelet priors. Building on this operator, we design a symmetric cross-learning that enforces consistency between predictions on labeled and unlabeled data, thereby effectively exploiting abundant unlabeled traces. Extensive experiments on the SEAM and Marmousi 2 benchmarks demonstrate that RD-SCL consistently outperforms state-of-the-art supervised and semi-supervised methods, achieving substantial gains with lower computational cost. With only 56.5k learnable parameters and competitive runtime, RD-SCL offers a practical, physically consistent, and efficient solution for acoustic impedance imaging.

Sequential Operating Simulation of Solid State Transformer-Driven Next-Generation 800 VDC Data Center

Artificial-intelligence (AI) workloads are driving rapid growth in data-center electricity use and rack power density, increasing demand for power-delivery systems that are efficient and robust to fast load transients. Conventional uninterruptible power supply (UPS) based AC distribution chains involve multiple conversion stages and line-frequency transformers, which compound losses and are less compatible with dynamic AI power profiles. Although solid-state transformers (SSTs) and 800 VDC distribution architecture are widely discussed, implementable topology/control details, and long-horizon validation with realistic operating profiles remain limited. This paper develops an SST-driven 800 VDC architecture that converts 10 kV MVAC to an 800V LVDC bus using a three-phase H-bridge AC/DC stage cascaded with a dual-active-bridge (DAB) DC/DC stage. A coordinated closed-loop control scheme, combining rectifier voltage/current regulation and DAB phase-shift control, is designed to maintain DC-bus voltage stability. The proposed system is implemented on the real-time digital simulation (RTDS) platform and evaluated via sequential simulations using real-world day- and month-scale operating profiles of data centers, benchmarked against a UPS supply chain. Numerical studies demonstrate tight 800 VDC regulation, reduced input-side energy consumption compared with the UPS baseline, and satisfactory power-quality performance. A capacitance sensitivity test quantifies tradeoffs between DC-bus ripple and low-frequency input-power oscillations, yielding a practical capacitance range for design. Overall, the work provides a reproducible evaluation workflow and actionable guidance for next-generation AI data centers.

GWRBoost:A geographically weighted gradient boosting method for explainable quantification of spatially-varying relationships

The geographically weighted regression (GWR) is an essential tool for estimating the spatial variation of relationships between dependent and independent variables in geographical contexts. However, GWR suffers from the problem that classical linear regressions, which compose the GWR model, are more prone to be underfitting, especially for significant volume and complex nonlinear data, causing inferior comparative performance. Nevertheless, some advanced models, such as the decision tree and the support vector machine, can learn features from complex data more effectively while they cannot provide explainable quantification for the spatial variation of localized relationships. To address the above issues, we propose a geographically gradient boosting weighted regression model, GWRBoost, that applies the localized additive model and gradient boosting optimization method to alleviate underfitting problems and retains explainable quantification capability for spatially-varying relationships between geographically located variables. Furthermore, we formulate the computation method of the Akaike information score for the proposed model to conduct the comparative analysis with the classic GWR algorithm. Simulation experiments and the empirical case study are applied to prove the efficient performance and practical value of GWRBoost. The results show that our proposed model can reduce the RMSE by 18.3% in parameter estimation accuracy and AICc by 67.3% in the goodness of fit.

DouFu: A Double Fusion Joint Learning Method For Driving Trajectory Representation

Driving trajectory representation learning is of great significance for various location-based services, such as driving pattern mining and route recommendation. However, previous representation generation approaches tend to rarely address three challenges: 1) how to represent the intricate semantic intentions of mobility inexpensively; 2) complex and weak spatial-temporal dependencies due to the sparsity and heterogeneity of the trajectory data; 3) route selection preferences and their correlation to driving behavior. In this paper, we propose a novel multimodal fusion model, DouFu, for trajectory representation joint learning, which applies multimodal learning and attention fusion module to capture the internal characteristics of trajectories. We first design movement, route, and global features generated from the trajectory data and urban functional zones and then analyze them respectively with the attention encoder or feed forward network. The attention fusion module incorporates route features with movement features to create a better spatial-temporal embedding. With the global semantic feature, DouFu produces a comprehensive embedding for each trajectory. We evaluate representations generated by our method and other baseline models on classification and clustering tasks. Empirical results show that DouFu outperforms other models in most of the learning algorithms like the linear regression and the support vector machine by more than 10%.

Identification and classification of exfoliated graphene flakes from microscopy images using a hierarchical deep convolutional neural network

Identification of the mechanically exfoliated graphene flakes and classification of the thickness is important in the nanomanufacturing of next-generation materials and devices that overcome the bottleneck of Moore's Law. Currently, identification and classification of exfoliated graphene flakes are conducted by human via inspecting the optical microscope images. The existing state-of-the-art automatic identification by machine learning is not able to accommodate images with different backgrounds while different backgrounds are unavoidable in experiments. This paper presents a deep learning method to automatically identify and classify the thickness of exfoliated graphene flakes on Si/SiO2 substrates from optical microscope images with various settings and background colors. The presented method uses a hierarchical deep convolutional neural network that is capable of learning new images while preserving the knowledge from previous images. The deep learning model was trained and used to classify exfoliated graphene flakes into monolayer (1L), bi-layer (2L), tri-layer (3L), four-to-six-layer (4-6L), seven-to-ten-layer (7-10L), and bulk categories. Compared with existing machine learning methods, the presented method possesses high accuracy and efficiency as well as robustness to the backgrounds and resolutions of images. The results indicated that our deep learning model has accuracy as high as 99% in identifying and classifying exfoliated graphene flakes. This research will shed light on scaled-up manufacturing and characterization of graphene for advanced materials and devices.

Multiuser Cellular Network

Modern radio communication is faced with a problem about how to distribute restricted frequency to users in a certain space. Since our task is to minimize the number of repeaters, a natural idea is enlarging coverage area. However, coverage has restrictions. First, service area has to be divided economically as repeater's coverage is limited. In this paper, our fundamental method is to adopt seamless cellular network division. Second, underlying physics content in frequency distribution problem is interference between two close frequencies. Consequently, we choose a proper frequency width of 0.1MHz and a relevantly reliable setting to apply one frequency several times. We make a few general assumptions to simplify real situation. For instance, immobile users yield to homogenous distribution; repeaters can receive and transmit information in any given frequency in duplex operation; coverage is mainly decided by antenna height. Two models are built up to solve 1000 users and 10000 users situations respectively. In order to utilize restricted frequency and PL code, three stratified terms - "cell", "cluster", "group" - are introduced to describe the models in detail. Under our analysis, 91 repeaters for 1000 users and 469 repeaters for 10000 users are viable results. Next, to test stability and sensitivity of models, we give total consideration to the variation of sum of users, antenna height, and frequency width and service radius. Evaluation about models is offered qualitatively. Finally, two practical cases are put forward to gain a partial knowledge of mountainous area. The brief method in dealing with mountains is classified discussion in two ideal conditions. It may provide some constructive suggestions to avoid shortcomings or take proper measures in similar locations.
