QuaSE: Accurate Text Style Transfer under Quantifiable Guidance

We propose the task of Quantifiable Sequence Editing (QuaSE): editing an input sequence to generate an output sequence that satisfies a given numerical outcome value measuring a certain property of the sequence, with the requirement of keeping the main content of the input sequence. For example, an input sequence could be a word sequence, such as review sentence and advertisement text. For a review sentence, the outcome could be the review rating; for an advertisement, the outcome could be the click-through rate. The major challenge in performing QuaSE is how to perceive the outcome-related wordings, and only edit them to change the outcome. In this paper, the proposed framework contains two latent factors, namely, outcome factor and content factor, disentangled from the input sentence to allow convenient editing to change the outcome and keep the content. Our framework explores the pseudo-parallel sentences by modeling their content similarity and outcome differences to enable a better disentanglement of the latent factors, which allows generating an output to better satisfy the desired outcome and keep the content. The dual reconstruction structure further enhances the capability of generating expected output by exploiting the couplings of latent factors of pseudo-parallel sentences. For evaluation, we prepared a dataset of Yelp review sentences with the ratings as outcome. Extensive experimental results are reported and discussed to elaborate the peculiarities of our framework.

Theoretical investigation on the ferromagnetic two-dimensional scandium monochloride sheet that has a high Curie temperature and could be exfoliated from a known material

A two-dimensional scandium monochloride sheet was investigated by using density functional theory. It could be exfoliated from a known bulk material with a cleavage energy slightly lower than that of graphene. The sheet has a ferromagnetic ground state with a Curie temperature of 100 K. Moreover, the sheet becomes a half-metal under hole doping. The Curie temperature increases to 250 K with the doping amount of 0.4 per primitive cell, which is close to the ice point. The two-dimensional scandium monochloride sheet should be a good candidate for two-dimensional spintronics.

Perfect fluid dark matter influence on thermodynamics and phase transition for a Reissner-Nordstrom-anti-de Sitter black hole

Based on Reissner-Nordstrom-anti-de Sitter(RN-AdS) black hole surrounded by perfect fluid dark matter, we study the thermodynamics and phase transition by extending the phase space defined by the charge square $Q^{2}$ and the conjugate quantity $ψ$, where $ψ$ is a function of horizon radius. The first law of thermodynamics and the equation of state are derived in the form $Q^{2}=Q^{2}(T,ψ)$. By investigating the critical behaviour of perfect fluid dark matter around Reissner-Nordstrom-anti-de Sitter black hole, we find that these thermodynamics system are similar to Van der Waals system, and can be explained by mean field theory. We also explore the Ruppeiner thermodynamic geometry feature and their connection with microscopic structure. We find that in extended phase space there existence singularity points of Ruppeiner curvature and it's could explained as phase transitions.

Phenomenology of Colored Radiative Neutrino Mass Model and Its Implications on the Cosmic-ray Observations

We extend the colored Zee-Babu model with a gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry and a scalar singlet dark matter (DM) candidate $S$. The spontaneous breaking of $U(1)_{B-L}$ leaves a residual $Z_2$ symmetry that stabilizes the DM and generates tiny neutrino mass at the two-loop level with the color seesaw mechanism. After investigating dark matter and flavor phenomenology of this model systematically, we further focus on its imprint on two of cosmic-ray anomalies: the Fermi-LAT gamma-ray excess at the Galactic Center (GCE) and the PeV ultra-high energy (UHE) neutrino events at the IceCube. We found that the Fermi-LAT GCE spectrum can be well fitted by DM annihilation into a pair of on-shell singlet Higgs mediators while being compatible with the constraints from relic density, direct detections as well as dwarf spheroidal galaxies in the Milky Way. Although the UHE neutrino events at the IceCube could be accounted for by resonance production of a TeV-scale leptoquark, the relevant Yukawa couplings have been severely limited by current low energy flavor experiments. We then derive the IceCube limits on the Yukawa couplings by employing its latest 6-year data.

Theoretical prediction of two-dimensional CrOF sheet as a ferromagnetic semiconductor or a half-metal

Two-dimensional chromium oxide fluoride CrOF sheet was studied based on density functional theory. The investigation indicates that the CrOF sheet is an intrinsic ferromagnetic semiconductor. The calculated low cleavage energy implies that the ferromagnetic semiconductor can be exfoliated from its bulk form. The corresponding Curie temperature is 150 K. In particular, the Curie temperature increases up to 410 K under hole doping and the CrOF sheet becomes a half-metal. The versatile electronic and magnetic properties indicate that the two-dimensional CrOF sheet can be a promising candidate for next-generation spintronic devices.

Perturbative Power Counting, Lowest-Index Operators and Their Renormalization in Standard Model Effective Field Theory

We study two aspects of higher dimensional operators in standard model effective field theory. We first introduce a perturbative power counting rule for the entries in the anomalous dimension matrix of operators with equal mass dimension. The power counting is determined by the number of loops and the difference of the indices of the two operators involved, which in turn is defined by assuming that all terms in the standard model Lagrangian have an equal perturbative power. Then we show that the operators with the lowest index are unique at each mass dimension $d$, i.e., $(H^\dagger H)^{d/2}$ for even $d\geq 4$, and $(L^TεH)C(L^TεH)^T(H^\dagger H)^{(d-5)/2}$ for odd $d\geq 5$. Here $H,~L$ are the Higgs and lepton doublet, and $ε,~C$ the antisymmetric matrix of rank two and the charge conjugation matrix, respectively. The renormalization group running of these operators can be studied separately from other operators of equal mass dimension at the leading order in power counting. We compute their anomalous dimensions at one loop for general $d$ and find that they are enhanced quadratically in $d$ due to combinatorics. We also make connections with classification of operators in terms of their holomorphic and anti-holomorphic weights.

Higgs production at future $e^+e^-$ colliders in the Georgi-Machacek model

We study how the dominant single and double SM-like Higgs ($h$) production at future $e^+e^-$ colliders is modified in the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model. On imposing theoretical, indirect and direct constraints, significant deviations of $h$-couplings from their SM values are still possible; for instance, the Higgs-gauge coupling coupling can be corrected by a factor $κ_{hVV}\in[0.93,1.15]$ in the allowed parameter space. For the Higgs-strahlung $e^+e^-\to hZ$ and vector boson fusion processes $e^+e^-\to hν\barν,~he^+e^-$, the cross section could increase by $32\%$ or decrease by $13\%$. In the case of associated production with a top quark pair $e^+e^-\to ht\bar{t}$, the cross section can be enhanced up to several times when the custodial triplet scalar $H_3^0$ is resonantly produced. In the meanwhile, the double Higgs production $e^+e^-\to hhZ~(hhν\barν)$ can be maximally enhanced by one order of magnitude at the resonant $H_{1,3}^0$ production. We also include exclusion limits expected from future LHC runs at higher energy and luminosity and discuss their further constraints on the relevant model parameters. We find that the GM model can result in likely measurable deviations of Higgs production from the SM at future $e^+e^-$ colliders.

Interpreting the $R_{K^{(*)}}$ Anomaly in the Colored Zee-Babu Model

We consider the feasibility of interpreting the $R_{K^{(*)}}$ anomaly in the colored Zee-Babu model. The model generates neutrino masses at two loops with the help of a scalar leptoquark $S\sim(3,3,-\frac{1}{3})$ and a scalar diquark $ω\sim(6,1,-\frac{2}{3})$, and contributes to the transition $b\to s\ell\ell$ via the exchange of a leptoquark $S$ at tree level. Under constraints from lepton flavor violating (LFV) and flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) processes, and direct collider searches for heavy particles, we acquire certain parameter space that can accommodate the $R_{K^{(*)}}$ anomaly for both normal (NH) and inverted (IH) hierarchies of neutrino masses. We further examine the LFV decays of the $B$ meson, and find its strong correlation with the neutrino mass hierarchy, i.e., $\text{Br}(B^+ \to K^+ μ^\pmτ^\mp)\gtrsim\text{Br}(B^+ \to K^+ μ^\pm e^\mp)\approx\text{Br}(B^+ \to K^+ τ^\pm e^\mp)$ for NH, while $\text{Br}(B^+ \to K^+ μ^\pm τ^\mp)\ll\text{Br}(B^+ \to K^+ μ^\pm e^\mp)\approx\text{Br}(B^+ \to K^+ τ^\pm e^\mp)$ for IH. Among these decays, only $B^+ \to K^+ μ^\pm e^\mp$ in the case of NH is promising at the LHCb RUN II, while for IH all LFV decays are hard to detect in the near future.

Shock-induced plasticity of semi-coherent 111 Cu-Ni multilayers

Using atomistic simulations, dislocation dynamics modeling, and continuum elastic-plastic stress-wave theory, we present a systematic investigation on shock-induced plasticity in semi-coherent CuNi multilayers. The features of stress wave evolutions in the multilayers, including wave-front stress attenuation and strong interfacial discontinuities, are revealed by atomistic simulations. Continuum models are proposed to explain the shockwave propagation features. The simulations provide insight into microplasticity behaviors including interactions between lattice and misfit dislocations. The formation of hybrid Lomer-Cottrell locks through the attraction and combination of lattice and misfit dislocations is a major mechanism for trapping gliding lattice dislocations at interfaces. The relationship between dislocation activity and dynamic stress wave evolution history is explored. The hybrid Lomer-Cottrell locks can dissociate under shock compression or reverse yielding. This dissociation facilitates slip transmission. The influence of coherent stress causes direction dependency in the slip transmission: a lattice dislocation is transmitted more smoothly across an interface from Ni to Cu than from Cu to Ni. The interaction forces between lattice and misfit dislocations are calculated using dislocation dynamics code. Lattice dislocation nucleation from semi-coherent interfaces under shock compression is also reported.

Theoretical prediction of a two-dimensional intrinsic double-metal ferromagnetic semiconductor MnCoO4

A two-dimensional double-metal oxide MnCoO4 was predicted to be an intrinsic ferromagnetic semiconductor by using density functional theory. The low cleavage energy 0.36 Jm-2, which is similar to that of graphene, indicates that it can be easily exfoliated. The bulk structure has an antiferromagnetic ground state while the ferromagnetic configuration is the ground state against two antiferromagnetic and three ferrimagnetic configurations in the two-dimensional structure. The spin flip gaps for valence and conduction bands are 0.41 and 0.10 eV calculated with the HSE06 density functional, which are much larger than the thermal energy at room temperature. The Curie temperature obtained from the Monte Carlo simulation is 40 K. Under 9% tensile strain, the spin flip gaps increase largely so that the spin flip can be suppressed. The direct antiferromagnetic coupling between the Mn and Co atoms reduces largely while the indirect ferromagnetic couplings between two Mn or two Co atoms mediated by the O atoms do not decrease much in the stretched structure. The Curie temperature increases to 230 K, higher than the dry ice temperature. Moreover, phonon dispersion indicates that the MnCoO4 is also stable under the tensile stain. Therefore, two-dimensional MnCoO4 could be a good candidate for low-dimensional spintronics.

Theoretical Prediction of the Robust Intrinsic Half-Metallicity in Ni2N MXene with Different Types of Surface Terminations

Bare and surface-passivated Fe2N, Co2N, and Ni2N MXene were investigated by using density functional theory. Fe2N(OH)2, Fe2NO2, Co2NO2, Ni2NF2, Ni2N(OH)2, and Ni2NO2 are intrinsic half-metals, while other structures have antiferromagnetic ground states. The half-metallicity of Ni2NT2 (T = F, OH, and O) does not depend on the type of surface terminations and should be more realizable in experiments. The energy differences between the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic configurations of Ni2NT2 are several hundreds of meV per primitive cell. The Curie temperature should be above room temperature from the point of view of mean field approximation.

Hunting for Heavy Majorana Neutrinos with Lepton Number Violating Signatures at LHC

The neutrinophilic two-Higgs-doublet model ($ν$2HDM) provides a natural way to generate tiny neutrino mass from interactions with the new doublet scalar $Φ_ν$ ($H^\pm,~H,~A$) and singlet neutrinos $N_R$ of TeV scale. In this paper, we perform detailed simulations for the lepton number violating (LNV) signatures at LHC arising from cascade decays of the new scalars and neutrinos with the mass order $m_{N_R}<m_{Φ_ν}$. Under constraints from lepton flavor violating processes and direct collider searches, their decay properties are explored and lead to three types of LNV signatures: $2\ell^\pm 4j+\cancel{E}_T$, $3\ell^\pm 4j+\cancel{E}_T$, and $3\ell^\pm\ell^\mp 4j$. We find that the same-sign trilepton signature $3\ell^\pm4j+\cancel{E}_T$ is quite unique and is the most promising discovery channel at the high-luminosity LHC. Our analysis also yields the $95\%$ C.L. exclusion limits in the plane of the $Φ_ν$ and $N_R$ masses at 13 (14) TeV LHC with an integrated luminosity of 100~(3000)/fb.

Theoretical prediction of the half-metallicity in one-dimensional Cr2NO2 nanoribbons

One-dimensional Cr2NO2 nanoribbons cutting from the oxygen-passivated Cr2NO2 MXene are investigated by using density functional theory. The wide nanoribbons have ferromagnetic ground states and are half-metals, independent of their chirality. The half-metallic band gaps of the wide nanoribbons are larger than 1 eV, which are large enough for avoiding thermally activated spin flip. The magnetism does not rely on the edge states but originates from all the Cr atoms. Furthermore, the half-metallicity is still robust in an electronic device even if the bias is up to 1 V. Therefore, one-dimensional Cr2NO2 nanoribbons are good candidates for spintronics.

Operators up to Dimension Seven in Standard Model Effective Field Theory Extended with Sterile Neutrinos

We revisit the effective field theory of the standard model that is extended with sterile neutrinos, $N$. We examine the basis of complete and independent effective operators involving $N$ up to mass dimension seven (dim-7). By employing equations of motion, integration by parts, and Fierz and group identities, we construct relations among operators that were considered independent in the previous literature, and find seven redundant operators at dim-6, sixteen redundant operators and two new operators at dim-7. The correct numbers of operators involving $N$ are, without counting Hermitian conjugates, $16~(L\cap B)+1~(\slashed{L}\cap B)+2~(\slashed{L}\cap\slashed{B})$ at dim-6, and $47~(\slashed{L}\cap B)+5~(\slashed{L}\cap\slashed{B})$ at dim-7. Here $L/B~(\slashed L/\slashed B)$ stands for lepton/baryon number conservation (violation). We verify our counting by the Hilbert series approach for $n_f$ generations of the standard model fermions and sterile neutrinos. When operators involving different flavors of fermions are counted separately and their Hermitian conjugates are included, we find there are $29~(1614)$ and $80~(4206)$ operators involving sterile neutrinos at dim-6 and dim-7 respectively for $n_f=1~(3)$.

Shock responses of nanoporous aluminum by molecular dynamics simulations

We present systematic investigations on the shock responses of nanoporous aluminum (np-Al) by nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations. The dislocation nucleation sites are found to concentrate in low latitude region near the equator of the spherical void surfaces. We propose a continuum wave reflection theory and a resolved shear stress model to explain the distribution of dislocation nucleation sites. The simulations reveals two mechanisms of void collapse: the plasticity mechanism and the internal jetting mechanism. The plasticity mechanism, which leads to transverse collapse of voids, prevails under relatively weaker shocks; while the internal jetting mechanism, which leads to longitudinal filling of the void vacuum, plays more significant role as the shock intensity increases. In addition, an abnormal thermodynamic phenomenon (i.e., arising of temperature with pressure dropping) in shocked np-Al is discovered. This phenomenon is incompatible with the conventional Rankine-Hugoniot theory, and is explained by the nonequilibrium processes involved in void collapse. The influences of void collapse on spall fracture of np-Al is studied. Under the same loading velocity, the spall strength of np-Al is found to be lower than that of single-crystal Al; but the spall resistance is higher in np-Al than in single-crystal Al. This is explained by the combined influences of thermal dissipation and stress attenuation during shock wave propagation in np-Al.

Testing Type II Radiative Seesaw Model: from Dark Matter Detection to LHC Signatures

We analyse the testability of the type II radiative seesaw in which neutrino mass and dark matter (DM) are related at one-loop level. Under the constraints from DM relic density, direct and indirect detection, and invisible Higgs decays, we find three possible regions of DM mass $M_{s_1}$ that can survive the present and even the future experiments: (1) the Higgs resonance region with $M_{s_1}\sim M_h/2$, (2) the Higgs region with $M_{s_1}\sim M_h$, and (3) the coannihilation region with $M_{s_2}\sim M_{s_1}$. Here $s_{1,2}$ are two scalar singlets with the lighter $s_1$ being the DM candidate. Based on DM properties and direct collider constraints, we choose three benchmark points to illustrate the testability of this model at LHC. We perform a detailed simulation of the four-lepton and tri-lepton signatures at 13 (14) TeV LHC. While both signatures are found to be promising at all benchmark points, the tri-lepton one is even better: it is possible to reach the $5σ$ significance with an integrated luminosity of 100/fb.

Phase-Transition Theory of Kerr Black Holes in Electromagnetic Field

For a Kerr black hole (KBH) with spin $J$ and mass $M$ in a steady electromagnetic field, a special Wald vacuum solution (WVS) has been found in the case of no-source uniform field. For WVS, the Meissner effect (ME) occurs only in the the extreme KBH where $M^2/J=1$, in this case, the magnetic field is totally excluded from the event horizon (EH) of KBH. However, WVS does not consider the Hawking radiation (HR) but treats KBH as an absolutely black body. If HR is added , researchers believe that the condition is not so restricted and it is possible for ME to occur in less extreme case. How less is the "less extreme case"? This paper tries to answer this question. Since the Hawking temperature $T_H$ of KBH defined by HR is proportional to the surface gravity $κ$ at the EH, this question is actually about the so-called existence/non-existence of ME (ME/NME) or superconducting phase transition. In this paper, we study the connection between the superconductivity of KBH-EH and the existence of Weyl Fermion (WF). Using thermodynamic formulas and the KBH state equation, we prove that the inherent-parameter condition for ME to occur is $M^2/J\leq ε_c=1.5$ in force-free fields whether it be in the simple axisymmetric vacuum zero source case or in the non-zero source case which can be described by the nonlinear Grad-Shafranov (G-S) equation. We suggest that this is a second-order phase transition and we calculate the critical exponents $δ=1$ and $η=1/2$ for the specific heat diverging at constant $J$, and the critical point $(M_c, Ω_c)$, which equals $(1.22\sqrt{ J}, 0.16/\sqrt{ J})$ where $Ω$ is the angular velocity of KBH. Furthermore we draw the phase diagrams in both $(M, J)$ and $(M,Ω)$ coordinates.

Charged Lepton Flavor-violating Transitions in Color Octet Model

We study charged lepton flavor-violating (LFV) transitions in the color octet model that generates neutrino mass and lepton mixing at one loop. By taking into account neutrino oscillation data and assuming octet particles of TeV scale mass, we examine the feasibility to detect these transitions in current and future experiments. We find that for general values of parameters the branching ratios for LFV decays of the Higgs and $Z$ bosons are far below current and even future experimental bounds. For LFV transitions of the muon, the present bounds can be satisfied generally, while future sensitivities could distinguish between the singlet and triplet color-octet fermions. The triplet case could be ruled out by future $μ-e$ conversion in nuclei, and for the singlet case the conversion and the decays $μ\to 3e,~eγ$ play complementary roles in excluding relatively low mass regions of the octet particles.
