One-Dimensional Simulations of the Topological Defects in a 3:1 $U(1)$ Model

The domain wall is a kind of topological defect that can appear when a discrete symmetry is broken. If the discrete symmetry appears as an intermediate symmetry during a $U(1)$ symmetry breaking, the domain walls are connected to cosmic strings, forming walls bounded by strings. Intuitively, the domain wall disappears if the breaking scale of the discrete symmetry is comparable to that of the $U(1)$ symmetry. In this paper, relying on a 3:1 $U(1)$ model, we show the detailed processes of the disappearance of the domain wall. Due to the existence of the non-negligible ``bias angle'' $\beta$, the relevance of the ``$Z_3$ symmetry'' and the domain wall is blurred, and thereby the evaluations of the string profiles in a hybrid wall-string network should be revised. We also made some preliminary calculations of the gravitational waves generated by the wall-string network created in the early universe.

General Discussions on the SU(2) Vector Boson Dark Matter Model with a Single Higgs Multiplet -- Lagrangian, Discrete Subgroups, and Scalar Classifications

The vector boson dark matter particles which stem from some broken gauge symmetries usually requires some unbroken symmetries to keep themselves stable. In the previous literature, some simplest cases have been discussed, in which the unbroken symmetry is provided by a remnant subgroup of the gauge group. It would be interesting to ask whether all the possible remnant subgroups as well as all the possible coupling forms can be enumerated. Classifying all the Higgs components into different mass degenerate representations to simplify the diagonalization processes is also necessary. Rather than the ambitious target of providing a general solution to all kinds of gauge groups configured with all forms of the Higgs multiplets, in this paper, we concentrate on the case of $\text{SU(2)}_{\text{D}}$ gauge group together with a single Higgs multiplet. We enumerate all possible discrete subgroups that can survive up to $n=21$, where $n$ is the dimension of the Higgs multiplet. We also provide the general algorithms to enumerate all possible renormalizable operators, to write down the general forms of the vacuum expectation value (VEV) configurations, and to give the detailed results of all the mass degenerate irreducible representations embedded in the Higgs multiplet.

Simulations of the Sterile Neutrino Oscillations with a Crossing-Width Term

In this paper, we present an algorithm to generate the collider events of the GeV-scale oscillating sterile neutrinos with the ready-made event generation tools in the case that the crossing-widths among the nearly-degenerate fermionic fields arise. We prove the validity of our algorithm, and adopt some tricks for practical calculations. The formulations of the particle oscillation processes are also improved in the framework of the quantum field theory, offering us the ability to simulate the flying distances of the oscillating intermediate sterile neutrinos while regarding them as the internal lines in the Feynmann diagrams.

Electroweak Precision Measurements of a Nearly-Degenerate $Z^\prime$-$Z$ System

In this paper, we discuss the possibility to probe a nearly-degenerate $Z^{\prime}$-$Z$ system by analyzing the $Z$-lineshape at an electron-positron collider. Compared with the usual $Z^{\prime}$ in the literature well separated with the standard model (SM) $Z$ boson in mass, the nearly-degenerate $Z^{\prime}$-$Z$ mixing affects the observed effective ``oblique parameters'' $\tilde{S}$, $\tilde{T}$, $\tilde{U}$, and the effective deviation of ``number of neutrino species'' $δ\tilde{N}_ν$ in a more complicated way and cannot be simply computed perturbatively up to a particular order. Aiming at solving this problem, we write down a general simplified effective Lagrangian and enumerate some parameter spaces corresponding to some typical models, and suggest a method to extract the constraints by looking into the line-shape of the $Z$-like resonance at an electron-positron collider.

Muon precession from the aspect of Dirac equations

In this paper, we would like to compute the muon anomalous precession frequency through solving the wave functions of the Dirac equations straightforwardly. The precession of a (anti-)muon with an anomalous magnetic momentum term is calculated together with the quantum corrections. Lorentz violation terms up to the lowest non-trivial order is introduced, and their effects on anomalous precession are evaluated perturbatively.

Corrections to electroweak precision observables from mixings of an exotic vector boson in light of the CDF $W$-mass anomaly

We enumerate various effective couplings that contribute to the mixings between an exotic vector boson $Z^{\prime}$ and the neutral electroweak vector bosons. The miscellaneous mixing patterns can be evaluated perturbatively. The effective oblique parameters $S^{\prime}$, $T^{\prime}$, and $U^{\prime}$ are calculated to compare with the electroweak precision test results. With the contributions to the non-negligible $U^{\prime}$ parameter from the $ε_{B,W}$ parameters and the aid of some other parameters to cancel the negative $T^{\prime}$, the recent CDF $W$-mass anomaly can therefore be explained.

Diagrammatic structures of the Nielsen identity

The $Γ$-function, or the effective potential of a gauge field theory should comply with the Nielsen identity, which implies how the effective potential evolves as we shift the gauge-fixing term. In this paper, relying on an abelian toy model, we aim at proving this identity in a diagrammatic form with the $\overline{R}_ξ$ gauge. The basic idea is to find out the ghost chain after partially differentiating the diagram by the $ξ$ parameter, and shrink the waists of the diagram into points to separate the bulk-part and $C$-part of the diagrams. The calculations can be generalized to the models implemented with non-abelian groups, multiple Higgs and fermion multiplets, and to the finite temperature cases. Inspired by this, we also suggest that when resumming the super-daisy diagrams, one can deduct some irrelevant terms at the connections between the daisy ringlets to fit the Nielsen identity up to arbitrary $\hbar$ orders.

FIMP dark matter mediated by massive gauge boson around the phase transition period and the gravitational waves production

We study the feebly interacting massive particle dark matter whose production processes are significantly affected by the phase evolution and the complicated thermal corrections to the vector boson. We calculate the freeze-in processes to obtain the correct dark matter relic density by enumerating all the possible $1 \leftrightarrow 2$ and $2 \leftrightarrow 2$ processes. The predicted gravitational waves emitted by the first-order phase transitions and the cosmic strings are evaluated.

Vector dark matter from split SU(2) gauge bosons

We propose a vector dark matter model with an exotic dark SU(2) gauge group. Two Higgs triplets are introduced to spontaneously break the symmetry. All of the dark gauge bosons become massive, and the lightest one is a viable vector DM candidate. Its stability is guaranteed by a remaining Z_2 symmetry. We study the parameter space constrained by the Higgs measurement data, the dark matter relic density, and direct and indirect detection experiments. We find numerous parameter points satisfying all the constraints, and they could be further tested in future experiments. Similar methodology can be used to construct vector dark matter models from an arbitrary SO(N) gauge group.

Phase transition gravitational waves from pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone dark matter and two Higgs doublets

We investigate the potential stochastic gravitational waves from first-order electroweak phase transitions in a model with pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone dark matter and two Higgs doublets. The dark matter candidate can naturally evade direct detection bounds, and can achieve the observed relic abundance via the thermal mechanism. Three scalar fields in the model obtain vacuum expectation values, related to phase transitions at the early Universe. We search for the parameter points that can cause first-order phase transitions, taking into account the existed experimental constraints. The resulting gravitational wave spectra are further evaluated. Some parameter points are found to induce strong gravitational wave signals, which have the opportunity to be detected in future space-based interferometer experiments LISA, Taiji, and TianQin.

$1 \leftrightarrow 2$ Processes of a Sterile Neutrino Around Electroweak Scale in the Thermal Plasma

In this paper, we will apply the Goldstone equivalence gauge to calculate the $1 \leftrightarrow 2$ processes of a sterile neutrino in the thermal plasma below the standard model (SM) critical temperature $T_c \approx 160 \text{ GeV}$. The sterile neutrino's mass is around the electroweak scale $50 \text{ GeV} \leq m_N \leq 200 \text{ GeV}$, and the acquired thermal averaged effective width $\barΓ_{\text{tot}}$ is continuous around the cross-over. We will also apply our results to perform a preliminary calculation of the leptogenesis.

Structures of the Massive Vector Boson Propagators at Finite Temperature Illuminated by the Goldstone Equivalence Gauge

Inspired by the Goldstone equivalence gauge, we study the thermal corrections to an originally massive vector boson by checking the poles and branch cuts. We find that part of the Goldstone boson is spewed out from the longitudinal polarization, becoming a branch cut which can be approximated by the "quasi-poles" in the thermal environment. In this case, physical Goldstone boson somehow partly recovers. We also show the Feynmann rules for the "external legs" of these vector boson as well as the recovered Goldstone boson, expecting to simplify the vector boson participated process calculations by adopting the similar "tree-level" logic as in the zero temperature situation. Gauge boson mixing case are also discussed. Similar results are shown in other gauges, especially in the $R_ξ$ gauge.

Dark Matter Bound State Formation in Fermionic $Z_2$ DM model with Light Dark Photon and Dark Higgs Boson

If fermionic dark matter (DM) is stabilized by dark $U(1)$ gauge symmetry that is spontaneously broken into its subgroup $Z_2$, the particle contents of the model becomes very rich: DM and excited DM, both of them are Majorana fermions, as well as two dark force mediators, dark photon and dark Higgs boson are naturally present due to the underlying dark gauge symmetry. In this paper, we study the DM bound state formation processes within this scenario, assuming both dark photon and dark Higgs are light mediators and including the effects of excited DM. The Goldstone boson contributions to the potential matrix in the Schrödinger equations are found to be important. The emissions of a longitudinal vector boson (or somehow equivalently a Goldstone boson) during the DM bound state formations are crucial to induce a significant reannihilation process, reducing the dark matter relic abundance. Most of the stringent constraints for this kind of dark matter considered in the literature are simply evaded.

Calculations of the Sommerfeld Effect in a Unified Wave Function Framework

In this paper, we suggest a method of a complete calculation of the Sommerfeld effect in both the s-wave and p-wave annihilation situations. The basic idea is to uniformly consider the equal-time Beth-Salpeter wave functions of both the dark matter and the final state particles, then short-distance interactions can be parametrized as a cross-term considering the equations. Solving these equations will result in the complete formulas of the cross sections with the Sommerfeld effects.

The leptophilic dark matter in the Sun: the minimum testable mass

The physics of the solar dark matter (DM) that are captured and thermalise through the DM-nucleon interaction has been extensively studied. In this work, we consider the leptophilic DM scenario where the DM particles interact exclusively with the electrons through the axial-vector coupling. We investigate relevant phenomenologies in the Sun, including its capture, evaporation and thermalisation, and we calculate the equilibrium distribution using the Monte Carlo methods, rather than adopting a semi-analytic approximation. Based on the analysis, we then determine the minimum testable mass for which the DM-electron coupling strength can be probed via the neutrino observation. Compared to the case of the DM-nucleon interaction, it turns out that minimum detectable mass of the DM-electron interaction is roughly 1 GeV smaller, and a cross section about two orders of magnitude larger is required for the saturation of the annihilation signal.

Thermally modified sterile neutrino portal dark matter and gravitational waves from phase transition: The Freeze-in case

We consider the thermal effects into the evaluation of the dark matter production process. With the assistance of the right handed neutrinos, the freeze-in massive particle dark matter production history can be modified by the two-step phase transitions. The kinematic of decay/inverse decay or annihilation processes can be affected by the finite temperature effects as the Universe cools down. The history of the symmetry respected by the model can be revealed by the DM relic abundance evolution processes. The strong first order electroweak phase transition generated gravitational waves can be probed. The number of extra scalars for the Hierarchy problem can be probed through the Higgs off-shell searches at the LHC.

Lepton-portal Dark Matter in Hidden Valley model and the DAMPE recent results

We study the recent $e^\pm$ cosmic ray excess reported by DAMPE in a Hidden Valley Model with lepton-portal dark matter. We find the electron-portal can account for the excess well and satisfy the DM relic density and direct detection bounds, while electron+muon/electron+muon+tau-portal suffers from strong constraints from lepton flavor violating observables, such as $μ\to 3 e$. We also discuss possible collider signatures of our model, both at the LHC and a future 100 TeV hadron collider.

Some Phenomenologies of a Simple Scotogenic Inverse Seesaw Model

In this paper, we discuss and calculate the electroweak parameters $R_l$, $A_l$, and $N_ν^l$ in a model that combine inverse seesaw with the scotogenic model. Dark matter relic density is also considered. Due to the stringent constraint from the ATLAS experimental data, it is difficult to detect the loop effect on $R_l$, $A_l$ in this model considering both the theoretical and future experimental uncertainties. However, $N_ν^l$ can sometimes become large enough for the future experiments to verify.
