Fidelity of remote state preparation can be enhanced by local operation

Remote state preparation (RSP) is a quantum information protocol which allows preparing a quantum state at a distant location with the help of a preshared nonclassical resource state and a classical channel. The efficiency of successfully doing this task can be represented by the RSP-fidelity of the resource state. In this paper, we study the influence on the RSP-fidelity by applying certain local operations on the resource state. We prove that RSP-fidelity does not increase for any unital local operation. However, for nonunital local operation, such as local amplitude damping channel, we find that some resource states can be enhanced to increase the RSP-fidelity. We give the optimal parameter of symmetric local amplitude damping channel for enhancing Bell-diagonal resource states. In addition, we show RSP-fidelity can suddenly change or even vanish at instant under local decoherence.

Phase structures of holographic screen themodynamics

Holographic screens are the generalization of the event horizon of a black hole in entropic force scheme, which are defined by setting Newton potential $ϕ$ constant, \textit{i. e.} $e^{2ϕ}=c=$const. By demonstrating that the integrated first law of thermodynamics is equivalent to the ($r-r$) component of Einstein equations, We strengthen the correspondence between thermodynamics and gravity. We show that there are not only the first law of thermodynamics, but also kinds of phase transitions of holographic screens. These phase transitions are characterized by the discontinuity of their heat capacities. In (n+1) dimensional Reissner-Nordström-anti-de Sitter (RN-AdS) spacetime, we analyze three kinds of phase transitions, which are of the holographic screens with Q=0 (charge), constant $Φ$ (electrostatic potential) and non-zero constant $Q$. In the Q=0 case, only the holographic screens with $0\le c<1$ can undergo phase transition. In the constant $Φ$ case, the constraints become as $0\le c+16\tildeΓ^{2}Φ^{2}<1$, where $\tildeΓ$ is a dimensional dependent parameter. By verifying the Ehrenfest equations, we show that the phase transitions in this case are all second order phase transitions. In the constant $Q$ case, there might be two, or one, or no phase transitions of holographic screens, depending on the values of $Q$ and $c$.

On Primary Relations at Tree-level in String Theory and Field Theory

By the use of cyclic symmetry, KK relations and BCJ relations, one can reduce the number of independent $N$-point color-ordered tree amplitudes in gauge theory and string theory from $N!$ to $(N-3)!$. In this paper, we investigate these relations at tree-level in both string theory and field theory. We will show that there are two primary relations. All other relations can be generated by the primary relations. In string theory, the primary relations can be chosen as cyclic symmetry as well as either the fundamental KK relation or the fundamental BCJ relation. In field theory, the primary relations can only be chosen as cyclic symmetry and the fundamental BCJ relation. We will further show a kind of more general relation which can also be generated by the primary relations. The general formula of the explicit minimal-basis expansions for color-ordered open string tree amplitudes will be given and proven in this paper.

Linearized Modes in Extended and Critical Gravities

We construct explicit solutions for the linearized massive and massless spin-2, vector and scalar modes around the AdS spacetimes in diverse dimensions. These modes may arise in extended (super)gravities with higher curvature terms in general dimensions. Log modes in critical gravities can also be straightforwardly deduced. We analyze the properties of these modes and obtain the tachyon-free condition, which allows negative mass square for these modes. However, such modes may not satisfy the standard AdS boundary condition and can be truncated out from the spectrum.

Three types of statistics and the entropy bounds

We investigated the entropy bounds of the three types of statistics: para-Bose, para-Fermi and infinite statistics. We showed that the entropy bounds of the conventional Bose, Fermi statistics and their generalizations to parastatistics obey the $A^{3/4}$ law, while the entropy bound of infinite statistics obeys the area law. This suggests a close relationship between infinite statistics and quantum gravity.

Quantum refrigerator driven by current noise

We proposed a scheme to implement a self-contained quantum refrigerator system composed of three rf-SQUID qubits, or rather, flux-biased phase qubits. The three qubits play the roles of the target, the refrigerator and the heat engine respectively. We provide different effective temperatures for the three qubits, by imposing external current noises of different strengths. The differences of effective temperatures give rise to the flow of free energy and that drives the refrigerator system to cool down the target. We also show that the efficiency of the system approaches the Carnot efficiency.

Black hole phase transitions in Hořava-Lifshitz gravity

We study black hole phase transitions in (deformed) Hořava-Lifshitz (H-L) gravity, including the charged black hole and KS black hole. Stability of black holes in H-L gravity and the phase transition signals are investigated. The Ricci scalar of the thermodynamical metrics of black holes in H-L gravity are calculated for the purpose of verifying or falsifying the correspondence between curvature singularities of thermodynamical metrics and phase transition signals proposed in [arXiv:1008.4482]. We find a probable counter-example to the correspondence that there is an infinite discontinuity at the specific heat curve for charged black hole with hyperbolic event horizon in H-L gravity but without a corresponding curvature singularity of thermodynamical metrics. The violation of the correspondence in H-L gravity may due to the non-spherical topology of its event horizon. We guess that the topology of the event horizon and the dimension of spacetime may influence the validity of the correspondence. Our results may provide new insights towards a better understanding of the H-L gravity, as well as black hole thermodynamics.

A Proof of the Explicit Minimal-basis Expansion of Tree Amplitudes in Gauge Field Theory

In last couple years, an important relation (BCJ relation) between color-ordered tree-level scattering amplitudes of gauge theory has inspired many studies. This relation implies that the minimal basis for the color-ordered tree-level amplitudes is $(n-3)!$ and other amplitudes can be expanded into a particular chosen basis. In this paper we will prove the conjectured explicit minimal basis expansion. For this purpose we will write down general BCJ relation of gauge theory by taking the field theory limit of BCJ relation in string theory. Then we prove these general BCJ relations using BCFW on-shell recursion relation. Using these general BCJ relations, we prove the conjectured explicit minimal-basis expansion of gauge theory tree amplitudes inductively.

On tree amplitudes with gluons coupled to gravitons

In this paper, we study the tree amplitudes with gluons coupled to gravitons. We first study the relations among the mixed amplitudes. With BCFW on-shell recursion relation, we will show the color-order reversed relation, $U(1)$-decoupling relation and KK relation hold for tree amplitudes with gluons coupled to gravitons. We then study the disk relation which expresses mixed amplitudes by pure gluon amplitudes. More specifically we will prove the disk relation for mixed amplitudes with gluons coupled to one graviton. Using the disk relation and the properties of pure gluon amplitudes, the color-order reversed relation, $U(1)$-decoupling relation and KK relation for mixed amplitudes can also be proved. Finally, we give some brief discussions on BCJ-like relation for mixed amplitudes.

Thermodynamics for Kodama observer in general spherically symmetric spacetimes

By following the spirit of arXiv:1003.5665, we define a new Tolman temperature of Kodama observer directly related to its acceleration. We give a generalized integral form of thermodynamics relation on virtual sphere of constant $r$ in non-static spherical symmetric spacetimes. This relation contains work term contributed by `redshift work density', `pressure density' and `gravitational work density'. We illustrate it in RN black hole, Dilaton-Maxwell-Einstein black hole and Vaidya black hole. We argue that the co-moving observers are not physically related to Kodama observers in FRW universe unless in the vacuum case. We also find that a generalized differential form of first law is difficult to be well defined, and it would not give more information than the integral form.

Quantum correlations in a cluster-like system

We discuss a cluster-like 1D system with triplet interaction. We study the topological properties of this system. We find that the degeneracy depends on the topology of the system, and well protected against external local perturbations. All these facts show that the system is topologically ordered. We also find a string order parameter to characterize the quantum phase transition. Besides, we investigate two-site correlations including entanglement, quantum discord and mutual information. We study the different divergency behaviour of the correlations. The quantum correlation decays exponentially in both topological and magnetic phases, and diverges in reversed power law at the critical point. And we find that in TQPT systems, the global difference of topology induced by dimension can be reflected in local quantum correlations.

Invariance of the Hamilton-Jacobi tunneling method for black holes and FRW model

In this paper we revisit the topic of Hawking radiation as tunneling. We show that the imaginary part of the action of the tunneling particle should be reconstructed in a covariant way, as a line integral along the classical forbidden trajectory of tunneling particles. As the quantum tunneling phenomenon, the probability of tunneling is related to the imaginary part of the action for the classical forbidden trajectory. We do the calculations for massless and massive particles, in Schwarzschild coordinate and Painlevé coordinate. The construction of particle action is invariant under coordinate transformations, so this method of calculation black hole tunneling does not have the so called "factor 2 problem". As an application, we find that the temperature of Hawking temperature of apparent horizon in a FRW universe is $T=\fracκ{2π}$. Based on this result, we briefly discuss the unified first law of apparent horizon in FRW universe.

Logarithmic corrections to black hole and black ring entropy in tunneling approach

The tunneling approach beyond semiclassical approximation has been used to calculate the corrected Hawking temperature and entropy for various black holes and FRW universe model. We examine their derivations, and prove that the quantity $H$ in the corrected temperature is the explicit function of the only free parameter $\mathcal{A}$ (which is an auxiliary parameter defined by $\mathcal{A}=\hbar S_{BH}$). Our analysis improves previous calculations, and indicates that the leading order logarithmic correction to entropy is a natural result of the corrected temperature and the first law of thermodynamics. Additionally, we apply the tunneling approach beyond semiclassical approximation to neutral black rings. Based on the analysis, we show that the entropy of neutral black rings also has a logarithmic leading order correction.

First law of thermodynamics on holographic screens in entropic force frame

By following the spirit of Verlinde's entropic force proposal arXiv:1001.0785, we give the differential and integral form of the first law of thermodynamics on the holographic screen enclosing a spherical symmetric black hole. It is consistent with equipartition principle and the form of Komar mass. The entropy of the holographic screen determines its area, i. e. $S=\frac{A}{4}$. And then we express the metric by thermodynamic variables, to give an illustration of how the space is foliated by the thermodynamical potentials.

Clausius relation and Friedmann equation in FRW universe model

It has been shown that Friedmann equation of FRW universe can be derived from the first law of thermodynamics in Einstein gravity, Gauss-Bonnet gravity, Lovelock gravity, scalar-tensor gravity and $f(R)$ gravity. Moreover, it was pointed out that the temperature of the apparent horizon can be obtained using the tunneling formalism for the corresponding observers defined by Kodama vector. In this article, we find that the energy flux through the apparent horizon can be determined by using the Kodama vector. This implies the fact that the Clausius relation and the first law of thermodynamics associated with the apparent horizon in FRW universe is relative to the Kodama observers. We illustrate the derivation of Friedmann equation, and also extend the study to the cases of Hořava-Lifshitz gravity and IR modified Hořava-Lifshitz gravity.

Self-consistency in relativistic theory of infinite statistics fields

Infinite statistics in which all representations of the symmetric group can occur is known as a special case of quon theory. Our previous work has built a relativistic quantum field theory which allows interactions involving infinite statistics particles. In this paper, a more detailed analysis of this theory is available. Topics discussed include cluster decomposition, CPT symmetry and renormalization.

Thermal quantum discord in the anisotropic Heisenberg XXZ model with the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction

The thermal quantum discord (QD) is studied in a two-qubit Heisenberg XXZ system with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. We compare the thermal QD with thermal entanglement in this system and find remarkable differences between them. For instance, we show situations where QD decreases asymptotically to zero with temperature $T$ while entanglement decreases to zero at the point of critical temperature, situations where QD decreases with certain tunable parameters such as $D_z$ and $D_x$ when entanglement increases. We find that the characteristic of QD is exotic in this system and this possibly offers a potential solution to enhance entanglement of a system. We also show that tunable parameter $D_x$ is more efficient than parameter $D_z$ in most regions for controlling the QD.

Tunneling Qubit Operation on a Protected Josephson Junction Array

We discuss a protected quantum computation process based on a hexagon Josephson junction array. Qubits are encoded in the punctured array, which is topologically protected. The degeneracy is related to the number of holes. The topological degeneracy is lightly shifted by tuning the flux through specific hexagons. We also show how to perform single qubit operation and basic quantum gate operations in this system.
