Symmetric Toeplitz-Structured Compressed Sensing Matrices

How to construct a suitable measurement matrix is still an open question in compressed sensing. A significant part of the recent work is that the measurement matrices are not completely random on the entries but exhibit considerable structure. In this paper, we proved that the symmetric Toeplitz matrix and its transforms can be used as measurement matrix and recovery signal with high probability. Compared with random matrices (e.g. Gaussian and Bernullio matrices) and some structured matrices (e.g. Toeplitz and circulant matrices), we need to generate fewer independent entries to obtain the measurement matrix while the effectiveness of recovery does not get worse. Furthermore, the signal can be recovered more efficiently by the algorithm.

Mixed Compressed Sensing Based on Random Graphs

Finding a suitable measurement matrix is an important topic in compressed sensing. Though the known random matrix, whose entries are drawn independently from a certain probability distribution, can be used as a measurement matrix and recover signal well, in most cases, we hope the measurement matrix imposed with some special structure. In this paper, based on random graph models, we show that the mixed symmetric random matrices, whose diagonal entries obey a distribution and non-diagonal entries obey another distribution, can be used to recover signal successfully with high probability.

The least eigenvalue of graphs whose complements are unicyclic

A graph in a certain graph class is called minimizing if the least eigenvalue of the adjacency matrix of the graph attains the minimum among all graphs in that class. Bell {\it et al.} have characterized the minimizing graphs in the class of connected graphs of order $n$ and size $m$, whose complements are either disconnected or contain a clique of order at least $n/2$. In this paper we discuss the minimizing graphs of a special class of graphs of order $n$ whose complements are connected and contains exactly one cycle (namely the the class $\mathscr {U}^{c}_{n}$ of graphs whose complements are unicyclic), and characterize the unique minimizing graph in $\mathscr {U}^{c}_{n}$ when $n \geq 20$.

The triangle-free graphs with rank 6

The rank of a graph G is defined to be the rank of its adjacency matrix A(G). In this paper we characterize all connected triangle-free graphs with rank 6.

Compressed Sensing Based on Random Symmetric Bernoulli Matrix

The task of compressed sensing is to recover a sparse vector from a small number of linear and non-adaptive measurements, and the problem of finding a suitable measurement matrix is very important in this field. While most recent works focused on random matrices with entries drawn independently from certain probability distributions, in this paper we show that a partial random symmetric Bernoulli matrix whose entries are not independent, can be used to recover signal from observations successfully with high probability. The experimental results also show that the proposed matrix is a suitable measurement matrix.

On Wiener polarity index of cactus graphs

The Wiener polarity index of a graph G is the number of unordered pairs of vertices u, v such that the distance between u and v is 3. In this paper we give an explicit formula for the Wiener polarity index of cactus graphs. We also deduce formulas for some special cactus graphs.

The least eigenvalues of signless Laplacian of non-bipartite graphs with pendant vertices

In this paper we determine the graph whose least eigenvalue of signless Laplacian attains the minimum or maximum among all connected non-bipartite graphs of fixed order and given number of pendant vertices. Thus we obtain a lower bound and an upper bound for the least eigenvalue of signless Laplacian of a graph in terms of the number of pendent vertices.

The Nullity of Bicyclic Signed Graphs

Let Γbe a signed graph and let A(Γ) be the adjacency matrix of Γ. The nullity of Γis the multiplicity of eigenvalue zero in the spectrum of A(Γ). In this paper we characterize the signed graphs of order n with nullity n-2 or n-3, and introduce a graph transformation which preserves the nullity. As an application we determine the unbalanced bicyclic signed graphs of order n with nullity n-3 or n-4, and signed bicyclic signed graphs (including simple bicyclic graphs) of order n with nullity n-5.

Spectral conditions for a graph to be Hamilton-connected

In this paper we establish some spectral conditions for a graph to be Hamilton-connected in terms of the spectral radius of the adjacency matrix or the signless Laplacian of the graph or its complement. For the existence of Hamiltonian paths or cycles in a graph, we also give a sufficient condition by the signless Laplacian spectral radius.

The Connectivity and the Harary Index of a Graph

The Harary index of a graph is defined as the sum of reciprocals of distances between all pairs of vertices of the graph. In this paper we provide an upper bound of the Harary index in terms of the vertex or edge connectivity of a graph. We characterize the unique graph with maximum Harary index among all graphs with given number of cut vertices or vertex connectivity or edge connectivity. In addition we also characterize the extremal graphs with the second maximum Harary index among the graphs with given vertex connectivity.

Maximum Estrada Index of Bicyclic Graphs

Let $G$ be a simple graph of order $n$, let $λ_1(G),λ_2(G),...,λ_n(G)$ be the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of $G$. The Esrada index of $G$ is defined as $EE(G)=\sum_{i=1}^{n}e^{λ_i(G)}$. In this paper we determine the unique graph with maximum Estrada index among bicyclic graphs with fixed order.

The minimum rank of universal adjacency matrices

In this paper we introduce a new parameter for a graph called the {\it minimum universal rank}. This parameter is similar to the minimum rank of a graph. For a graph $G$ the minimum universal rank of $G$ is the minimum rank over all matrices of the form \[ U(α, β, γ, δ) = αA + βI + γJ + δD \] where $A$ is the adjacency matrix of $G$, $J$ is the all ones matrix and $D$ is the matrix with the degrees of the vertices in the main diagonal, and $α\neq 0, β, γ, δ$ are scalars. Bounds for general graphs based on known graph parameters are given, as is a formula for the minimum universal rank for regular graphs based on the multiplicity of the eigenvalues of $A$. The exact value of the minimum universal rank of some families of graphs are determined, including complete graphs, complete bipartite graph, paths and cycles. Bounds on the minimum universal rank of a graph obtained by deleting a single vertex are established. It is shown that the minimum universal rank is not monotone on induced subgraphs, but bounds based on certain induced subgraphs, including bounds on the union of two graphs, are given. Finally we characterize all graphs with minimum universal rank equal to 0 and to 1.

The nullity of unicyclic signed graphs

In this paper we introduce the nullity of signed graphs, and give some results on the nullity of signed graphs with pendant trees. We characterize the unicyclic signed graphs of order n with nullity n-2; n-3; n-4; n-5 respectively.
