The Dynamics of the intermittency maps reveal the existence of resonances phenomena, interesting hybrid states and the orders of the phase transitions in a finite Z(3) spin model in 3D Lattice

A numerical simulation using the chaotic Dynamics of intermittency at a finite size Z(3) spin system in a 3D lattice reveals: (a) the existence of a second order phase transition with a zone hysteresis characterized from resonances phenomena (b) An hybrid appearance of mean-field universality class and 3D Ising model universality class , all these inside the zone hysteresis (c) a weak first order phase transition through a tricritical crossover. So, a complicated behavior in Z(3) symmetry exists.

Superpositions between non linear intermittency maps, application in biological neurons networks

In a series of works of ours we have shown that we can represent the critical and tricritical points of the Statistical Physics of critical phenomena as a Dynamical phenomenon expressed by time series produced by the type I intermittency that exhibits a weak chaos. Recently we have also shown that if we couple these two chaotic dynamics, namely critical and tricritical, we can produce a time sequence which is a temporal Spike Train (ST) of biological-type . In the present work we generalize this issue producing superpositions of critical-tricritical intermittencies with different parameter values. Now arise the question whether the coupling occurs between time series that have resulted from the superposition, will preserved or destroyed the ST biological type , as the number of intermittencies in the superposition will increase? In the other side in present work we find that the spikes produced by the chaotic dynamics of the intermittencies, under the action of superpositions and coupling remain biological-type too. Thus we can say that the dynamics of the fluctuations of the values of the time series produced by the coupling of the superpositions of the intermittencies is the same as the dynamics of the fluctuations of the membrane potential of the biological neuron. Given also that we can manipulate the numerical experiment of superposition and coupling as we wish, we will be able, in future, to approach the cause of neurological problems and decline in thinking ability due to loss of spikes in the brain.

The phenomenon of resonance in the continuous phase transition of finite-size systems: A passage from Classical World to Quantum World through the resonance?

In finite-size systems undergoing a continuous phase transition, the passage from the symmetric phase to the broken-symmetry phase is accomplished through a hysteresis zone, up to spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB). In the present work, we find that a resonance phenomenon takes place within this zone. This resonance is manifested as a maximization of the mean waiting time as a function of temperature inside the hysteresis region. An interesting issue concerns how this resonance is connected with the existence of particles (tachyons) or quasiparticles (kink solitons) within the hysteresis zone. Finally, we introduce the idea that this resonance delineates a continuous passage from a "classical" phase to a "quantum" phase for a binary system, such as the three-dimensional Ising model, which belongs to the same universality class as a fermion-antifermion system or, more generally, a matter-antimatter system.

Spontaneous symmetry breaking in finite systems and anomalous order-parameter correlations

We show that the spontaneous symmetry breaking can be defined also for finite systems based on the properly defined jump probability between the ground states in the 2d and 3d Ising models on a square and a cubic lattice respectively. Our analysis reveals the existence of an interval in the temperature (control parameter) space within which the spontaneous symmetry breaking takes place. The upper limit of this region is the pseudocritical point where the symmetric vacuum bifurcates in energetically degenerate non-symmetric vacua, initiating the spontaneous symmetry breaking process. The lower limit, identified as the temperature value at which the spontaneous symmetry breaking is completed, is characterized by maximal characteristic time for the decay of magnetization (order parameter) auto-correlations. We argue that this anomalous enhancement of auto-correlations is attributed to the transition from type I to on-off intermittency in the order parameter dynamics. Possible phenomenological implications of this behaviour are briefly discussed.

Wavelet based detection of scaling behaviour in noisy experimental data

The detection of power-laws in real data is a demanding task for several reasons. The two, more frequently met, being: (i) real data possess noise which affects significantly the power-law tails and (ii) there is no solid tool for the discrimination between a power-law, valid in a specific range of scales, from other functional forms like log-normal or stretched exponential distributions. In the present report we demonstrate, employing simulated and real data, that using wavelets it is possible to overcome both of the above mentioned difficulties and achieve a secure detection of a power-law and an accurate estimation of the associated exponent.
