Quantization of Hamiltonian loop group spaces

We prove a Fredholm property for spin-c Dirac operators $\mathsf{D}$ on non-compact manifolds satisfying a certain condition with respect to the action of a semi-direct product group $K\ltimes Γ$, with $K$ compact and $Γ$ discrete. We apply this result to an example coming from the theory of Hamiltonian loop group spaces. In this context we prove that a certain index pairing $[\mathcal{X}] \cap [\mathsf{D}]$ yields an element of the formal completion $R^{-\infty}(T)$ of the representation ring of a maximal torus $T \subset G$; the resulting element has an additional antisymmetry property under the action of the affine Weyl group, indicating $[\mathcal{X}] \cap [\mathsf{D}]$ corresponds to an element of the ring of projective positive energy representations of the loop group.

Norm-square localization for Hamiltonian $LG$-spaces

We prove a formula for twisted Duistermaat-Heckman distributions associated to a Hamiltonian $LG$-space. The terms of the formula are localized at the critical points of the norm-square of the moment map, and can be computed in cross-sections. Our main tools are the theory of quasi-Hamiltonian $G$-spaces, as well as the Hamiltonian cobordism approach to norm-square localization introduced recently by Harada and Karshon.

The decomposition formula for Verlinde Sums

We prove a decomposition formula for Verlinde sums (rational trigonometric sums), as a discrete counterpart to the Boysal-Vergne decomposition formula for Bernoulli series. Motivated by applications to fixed point formulas in Hamiltonian geometry, we develop differential form valued version of Bernoulli series and Verlinde sums, and extend the decomposition formula to this wider context.

Spinor modules for Hamiltonian loop group spaces

Let $LG$ be the loop group of a compact, connected Lie group $G$. We show that the tangent bundle of any proper Hamiltonian $LG$-space $\mathcal{M}$ has a natural completion $\overline{T}\mathcal{M}$ to a strongly symplectic $LG$-equivariant vector bundle. This bundle admits an invariant compatible complex structure within a natural polarization class, defining an $LG$-equivariant spinor bundle $\mathsf{S}_{\overline{T}\mathcal{M}}$, which one may regard as the Spin$_c$-structure of $\mathcal{M}$. We describe two procedures for obtaining a finite-dimensional version of this spinor module. In one approach, we construct from $\mathsf{S}_{\overline{T}\mathcal{M}}$ a twisted Spin$_c$-structure for the quasi-Hamiltonian $G$-space associated to $\mathcal{M}$. In the second approach, we describe an `abelianization procedure', passing to a finite-dimensional $T\subset LG$-invariant submanifold of $\mathcal{M}$, and we show how to construct an equivariant Spin$_c$-structure on that submanifold.
