Degradation-Guided Underwater Image Restoration with Task-Oriented Latent Control

Degradation information in underwater images plays a dual role: its spatial and spectral cues can guide adaptive restoration, while degradation-entangled features may be propagated without explicit regulation during decoding. Existing methods largely overlook this dual role, either underexploiting degradation cues or directly forwarding encoder features through skip connections. To address this issue, we propose PROTEUS, which couples degradation-guided feature adaptation with task?oriented latent control. PROTEUS tackles this problem from two complementary perspectives. At the feature level, the Guided Dynamic Feature Modulation Block exploits spatially varying degradation cues to adapt feature processing across network stages. At the representation level, the task-oriented latent controller learns a structured control code under discriminative regularisation and uses it for channel-wise modulation of skip features, without requiring the code to form a metrically cleaner embedding. Extensive experiments on five paired and four non-reference underwater benchmarks demonstrate that PROTEUS achieves highly competitive restoration performance, with a favourable balance between restoration quality and computational cost.

UniPCB: A Generation-Assisted Vision-Based Measurement Framework for PCB Defect Inspection

Automated optical inspection (AOI) is a vision-based instrumentation process that detects and localizes physical defects on printed circuit boards (PCBs) from optically acquired images. Its reliability is often limited by scarce and class-imbalanced defect observations and by insufficient representation of small, low-contrast defects against dense circuit patterns. We propose UniPCB, a generation-assisted PCB inspection framework that combines controlled defect synthesis with task-specific detection. The generation branch derives heterogeneous edge, relative pseudo-depth, and text conditions from PCB images. A ScaleEncoder embeds the conditions at four U-Net resolutions, while a Condition Modulation block performs FiLM-style spatially adaptive fusion. The detection branch introduces an Inverted Residual Shift Attention block for joint global-local modeling and a Cross-level Complementary Fusion block for selective hierarchical feature integration. The generated images augment the detector training data and improve defect coverage without changing the online inspection path. Experiments using the corrected annotations of DsPCBSD+ yield an mAP@0.5 of 98.0% and an mAP@0.5:0.95 of 61.8%. Under the same generation-augmented training setting, these values exceed those of the RT-DETR baseline by 2.1 and 1.7 percentage points, respectively. The generation branch obtains an FID of 129.61 and an SSIM of 0.619. These results indicate the potential of structured synthetic data and PCB-oriented feature modeling for improving vision-based defect inspection. MambaMoE: Mixture-of-Spectral-Spatial-Experts State Space Model for Hyperspectral Image Classification

Mamba-based models have recently demonstrated significant potential in hyperspectral image (HSI) classification, primarily due to their ability to perform contextual modeling with linear computational complexity. However, existing Mamba-based approaches often overlook the directional modeling heterogeneity across different land-cover types, leading to limited classification performance. To address these limitations, we propose MambaMoE, a novel spectral-spatial Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) framework, which represents the first MoE-based approach in the HSI classification domain. Specifically, we design a Mixture of Mamba Expert Block (MoMEB) that performs adaptive spectral-spatial feature modeling via a sparse expert activation mechanism. Additionally, we introduce an uncertainty-guided corrective learning (UGCL) strategy that encourages the model to focus on complex regions prone to prediction ambiguity. This strategy dynamically samples supervision signals from regions with high predictive uncertainty, guiding the model to adaptively refine feature representations and thereby enhancing its focus on challenging areas. Extensive experiments conducted on multiple public HSI benchmark datasets show that MambaMoE achieves state-of-the-art performance in both classification accuracy and computational efficiency compared to existing advanced methods, particularly Mamba-based ones. The code will be available online at https://github.com/YichuXu/MambaMoE.

HSANET: A Hybrid Self-Cross Attention Network For Remote Sensing Change Detection

The remote sensing image change detection task is an essential method for large-scale monitoring. We propose HSANet, a network that uses hierarchical convolution to extract multi-scale features. It incorporates hybrid self-attention and cross-attention mechanisms to learn and fuse global and cross-scale information. This enables HSANet to capture global context at different scales and integrate cross-scale features, refining edge details and improving detection performance. We will also open-source our model code: https://github.com/ChengxiHAN/HSANet.

FedDyMem: Efficient Federated Learning with Dynamic Memory and Memory-Reduce for Unsupervised Image Anomaly Detection

Unsupervised image anomaly detection (UAD) has become a critical process in industrial and medical applications, but it faces growing challenges due to increasing concerns over data privacy. The limited class diversity inherent to one-class classification tasks, combined with distribution biases caused by variations in products across and within clients, poses significant challenges for preserving data privacy with federated UAD. Thus, this article proposes an efficient federated learning method with dynamic memory and memory-reduce for unsupervised image anomaly detection, called FedDyMem. Considering all client data belongs to a single class (i.e., normal sample) in UAD and the distribution of intra-class features demonstrates significant skewness, FedDyMem facilitates knowledge sharing between the client and server through the client's dynamic memory bank instead of model parameters. In the local clients, a memory generator and a metric loss are employed to improve the consistency of the feature distribution for normal samples, leveraging the local model to update the memory bank dynamically. For efficient communication and data privacy, a memory-reduce method based on weighted averages is proposed to significantly decrease the scale of memory banks. This reduced representation inherently, thereby mitigating the risk of data reconstruction. On the server, global memory is constructed and distributed to individual clients through k-means aggregation. Experiments conducted on six industrial and medical datasets, comprising a mixture of six products or health screening types derived from eleven public datasets, demonstrate the effectiveness of FedDyMem.

Dual Selective Fusion Transformer Network for Hyperspectral Image Classification

Transformer has achieved satisfactory results in the field of hyperspectral image (HSI) classification. However, existing Transformer models face two key challenges when dealing with HSI scenes characterized by diverse land cover types and rich spectral information: (1) A fixed receptive field overlooks the effective contextual scales required by various HSI objects; (2) invalid self-attention features in context fusion affect model performance. To address these limitations, we propose a novel Dual Selective Fusion Transformer Network (DSFormer) for HSI classification. DSFormer achieves joint spatial and spectral contextual modeling by flexibly selecting and fusing features across different receptive fields, effectively reducing unnecessary information interference by focusing on the most relevant spatial-spectral tokens. Specifically, we design a Kernel Selective Fusion Transformer Block (KSFTB) to learn an optimal receptive field by adaptively fusing spatial and spectral features across different scales, enhancing the model's ability to accurately identify diverse HSI objects. Additionally, we introduce a Token Selective Fusion Transformer Block (TSFTB), which strategically selects and combines essential tokens during the spatial-spectral self-attention fusion process to capture the most crucial contexts. Extensive experiments conducted on four benchmark HSI datasets demonstrate that the proposed DSFormer significantly improves land cover classification accuracy, outperforming existing state-of-the-art methods. Specifically, DSFormer achieves overall accuracies of 96.59%, 97.66%, 95.17%, and 94.59% in the Pavia University, Houston, Indian Pines, and Whu-HongHu datasets, respectively, reflecting improvements of 3.19%, 1.14%, 0.91%, and 2.80% over the previous model. The code will be available online at https://github.com/YichuXu/DSFormer.

Weight Scope Alignment: A Frustratingly Easy Method for Model Merging

Merging models becomes a fundamental procedure in some applications that consider model efficiency and robustness. The training randomness or Non-I.I.D. data poses a huge challenge for averaging-based model fusion. Previous research efforts focus on element-wise regularization or neural permutations to enhance model averaging while overlooking weight scope variations among models, which can significantly affect merging effectiveness. In this paper, we reveal variations in weight scope under different training conditions, shedding light on its influence on model merging. Fortunately, the parameters in each layer basically follow the Gaussian distribution, which inspires a novel and simple regularization approach named Weight Scope Alignment (WSA). It contains two key components: 1) leveraging a target weight scope to guide the model training process for ensuring weight scope matching in the subsequent model merging. 2) fusing the weight scope of two or more models into a unified one for multi-stage model fusion. We extend the WSA regularization to two different scenarios, including Mode Connectivity and Federated Learning. Abundant experimental studies validate the effectiveness of our approach.

HyperSIGMA: Hyperspectral Intelligence Comprehension Foundation Model

Accurate hyperspectral image (HSI) interpretation is critical for providing valuable insights into various earth observation-related applications such as urban planning, precision agriculture, and environmental monitoring. However, existing HSI processing methods are predominantly task-specific and scene-dependent, which severely limits their ability to transfer knowledge across tasks and scenes, thereby reducing the practicality in real-world applications. To address these challenges, we present HyperSIGMA, a vision transformer-based foundation model that unifies HSI interpretation across tasks and scenes, scalable to over one billion parameters. To overcome the spectral and spatial redundancy inherent in HSIs, we introduce a novel sparse sampling attention (SSA) mechanism, which effectively promotes the learning of diverse contextual features and serves as the basic block of HyperSIGMA. HyperSIGMA integrates spatial and spectral features using a specially designed spectral enhancement module. In addition, we construct a large-scale hyperspectral dataset, HyperGlobal-450K, for pre-training, which contains about 450K hyperspectral images, significantly surpassing existing datasets in scale. Extensive experiments on various high-level and low-level HSI tasks demonstrate HyperSIGMA's versatility and superior representational capability compared to current state-of-the-art methods. Moreover, HyperSIGMA shows significant advantages in scalability, robustness, cross-modal transferring capability, real-world applicability, and computational efficiency. The code and models will be released at https://github.com/WHU-Sigma/HyperSIGMA.

Visualizing, Rethinking, and Mining the Loss Landscape of Deep Neural Networks

The loss landscape of deep neural networks (DNNs) is commonly considered complex and wildly fluctuated. However, an interesting observation is that the loss surfaces plotted along Gaussian noise directions are almost v-basin ones with the perturbed model lying on the basin. This motivates us to rethink whether the 1D or 2D subspace could cover more complex local geometry structures, and how to mine the corresponding perturbation directions. This paper systematically and gradually categorizes the 1D curves from simple to complex, including v-basin, v-side, w-basin, w-peak, and vvv-basin curves. Notably, the latter two types are already hard to obtain via the intuitive construction of specific perturbation directions, and we need to propose proper mining algorithms to plot the corresponding 1D curves. Combining these 1D directions, various types of 2D surfaces are visualized such as the saddle surfaces and the bottom of a bottle of wine that are only shown by demo functions in previous works. Finally, we propose theoretical insights from the lens of the Hessian matrix to explain the observed several interesting phenomena.
