MontePrep: Monte-Carlo-Driven Automatic Data Preparation without Target Data Instances

In commercial systems, a pervasive requirement for automatic data preparation (ADP) is to transfer relational data from disparate sources to targets with standardized schema specifications. Previous methods rely on labor-intensive supervision signals or target table data access permissions, limiting their usage in real-world scenarios. To tackle these challenges, we propose an effective end-to-end ADP framework MontePrep, which enables training-free pipeline synthesis with zero target-instance requirements. MontePrep is formulated as an open-source large language model (LLM) powered tree-structured search problem. It consists of three pivot components, i.e., a data preparation action sandbox (DPAS), a fundamental pipeline generator (FPG), and an execution-aware pipeline optimizer (EPO). We first introduce DPAS, a lightweight action sandbox, to navigate the search-based pipeline generation. The design of DPAS circumvents exploration of infeasible pipelines. Then, we present FPG to build executable DP pipelines incrementally, which explores the predefined action sandbox by the LLM-powered Monte Carlo Tree Search. Furthermore, we propose EPO, which invokes pipeline execution results from sources to targets to evaluate the reliability of the generated pipelines in FPG. In this way, unreasonable pipelines are eliminated, thus facilitating the search process from both efficiency and effectiveness perspectives. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the superiority of MontePrep with significant improvement against five state-of-the-art competitors.

Video2Roleplay: A Multimodal Dataset and Framework for Video-Guided Role-playing Agents

Role-playing agents (RPAs) have attracted growing interest for their ability to simulate immersive and interactive characters. However, existing approaches primarily focus on static role profiles, overlooking the dynamic perceptual abilities inherent to humans. To bridge this gap, we introduce the concept of dynamic role profiles by incorporating video modality into RPAs. To support this, we construct Role-playing-Video60k, a large-scale, high-quality dataset comprising 60k videos and 700k corresponding dialogues. Based on this dataset, we develop a comprehensive RPA framework that combines adaptive temporal sampling with both dynamic and static role profile representations. Specifically, the dynamic profile is created by adaptively sampling video frames and feeding them to the LLM in temporal order, while the static profile consists of (1) character dialogues from training videos during fine-tuning, and (2) a summary context from the input video during inference. This joint integration enables RPAs to generate greater responses. Furthermore, we propose a robust evaluation method covering eight metrics. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework, highlighting the importance of dynamic role profiles in developing RPAs.

TCPO: Thought-Centric Preference Optimization for Effective Embodied Decision-making

Using effective generalization capabilities of vision language models (VLMs) in context-specific dynamic tasks for embodied artificial intelligence remains a significant challenge. Although supervised fine-tuned models can better align with the real physical world, they still exhibit sluggish responses and hallucination issues in dynamically changing environments, necessitating further alignment. Existing post-SFT methods, reliant on reinforcement learning and chain-of-thought (CoT) approaches, are constrained by sparse rewards and action-only optimization, resulting in low sample efficiency, poor consistency, and model degradation. To address these issues, this paper proposes Thought-Centric Preference Optimization (TCPO) for effective embodied decision-making. Specifically, TCPO introduces a stepwise preference-based optimization approach, transforming sparse reward signals into richer step sample pairs. It emphasizes the alignment of the model's intermediate reasoning process, mitigating the problem of model degradation. Moreover, by incorporating Action Policy Consistency Constraint (APC), it further imposes consistency constraints on the model output. Experiments in the ALFWorld environment demonstrate an average success rate of 26.67%, achieving a 6% improvement over RL4VLM and validating the effectiveness of our approach in mitigating model degradation after fine-tuning. These results highlight the potential of integrating preference-based learning techniques with CoT processes to enhance the decision-making capabilities of vision-language models in embodied agents.

C-Flat++: Towards a More Efficient and Powerful Framework for Continual Learning

Balancing sensitivity to new tasks and stability for retaining past knowledge is crucial in continual learning (CL). Recently, sharpness-aware minimization has proven effective in transfer learning and has also been adopted in continual learning (CL) to improve memory retention and learning efficiency. However, relying on zeroth-order sharpness alone may favor sharper minima over flatter ones in certain settings, leading to less robust and potentially suboptimal solutions. In this paper, we propose \textbf{C}ontinual \textbf{Flat}ness (\textbf{C-Flat}), a method that promotes flatter loss landscapes tailored for CL. C-Flat offers plug-and-play compatibility, enabling easy integration with minimal modifications to the code pipeline. Besides, we present a general framework that integrates C-Flat into all major CL paradigms and conduct comprehensive comparisons with loss-minima optimizers and flat-minima-based CL methods. Our results show that C-Flat consistently improves performance across a wide range of settings. In addition, we introduce C-Flat++, an efficient yet effective framework that leverages selective flatness-driven promotion, significantly reducing the update cost required by C-Flat. Extensive experiments across multiple CL methods, datasets, and scenarios demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed approaches. Scalable Graph Indexing using GPUs for Approximate Nearest Neighbor Search

Approximate nearest neighbor search (ANNS) in high-dimensional vector spaces has a wide range of real-world applications. Numerous methods have been proposed to handle ANNS efficiently, while graph-based indexes have gained prominence due to their high accuracy and efficiency. However, the indexing overhead of graph-based indexes remains substantial. With exponential growth in data volume and increasing demands for dynamic index adjustments, this overhead continues to escalate, posing a critical challenge. In this paper, we introduce Tagore, a fast library accelerated by GPUs for graph indexing, which has powerful capabilities of constructing refinement-based graph indexes such as NSG and Vamana. We first introduce GNN-Descent, a GPU-specific algorithm for efficient k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN) graph initialization. GNN-Descent speeds up the similarity comparison by a two-phase descent procedure and enables highly parallelized neighbor updates. Next, aiming to support various k-NN graph pruning strategies, we formulate a universal computing procedure termed CFS and devise two generalized GPU kernels for parallel processing complex dependencies in neighbor relationships. For large-scale datasets exceeding GPU memory capacity, we propose an asynchronous GPU-CPU-disk indexing framework with a cluster-aware caching mechanism to minimize the I/O pressure on the disk. Extensive experiments on 7 real-world datasets exhibit that Tagore achieves 1.32x-112.79x speedup while maintaining the index quality.

OneDB: A Distributed Multi-Metric Data Similarity Search System

Increasingly massive volumes of multi-modal data are being accumulated in many {real world} settings, including in health care and e-commerce. This development calls for effective general-purpose data management solutions for multi-modal data. Such a solution must facilitate user-friendly and accurate retrieval of any multi-modal data according to diverse application requirements. Further, such a solution must be capable of efficient and scalable retrieval. To address this need, we present OneDB, a distributed multi-metric data similarity retrieval system. This system exploits the fact that data of diverse modalities, such as text, images, and video, can be represented as metric data. The system thus affords each data modality its own metric space with its own distance function and then uses a multi-metric model to unify multi-modal data. The system features several innovations: (i) an extended Spart SQL query interface; (ii) lightweight means of learning appropriate weights of different modalities when retrieving multi-modal data to enable accurate retrieval; (iii) smart search-space pruning strategies that improve efficiency; (iv) two-layered indexing of data to ensure load-balancing during distributed processing; and (v) end-to-end system parameter autotuning. Experiments on three real-life datasets and two synthetic datasets offer evidence that the system is capable of state-of-the-art performance: (i) efficient and effective weight learning; (ii) retrieval accuracy improvements of 12.63\%--30.75\% over the state-of-the-art vector similarity search system at comparable efficiency; (iii) accelerated search by 2.5--5.75x over state-of-the-art single- or multi-metric solutions; (iv) demonstrated high scalability; and (v) parameter tuning that enables performance improvements of 15+%.

TSVC:Tripartite Learning with Semantic Variation Consistency for Robust Image-Text Retrieval

Cross-modal retrieval maps data under different modality via semantic relevance. Existing approaches implicitly assume that data pairs are well-aligned and ignore the widely existing annotation noise, i.e., noisy correspondence (NC). Consequently, it inevitably causes performance degradation. Despite attempts that employ the co-teaching paradigm with identical architectures to provide distinct data perspectives, the differences between these architectures are primarily stemmed from random initialization. Thus, the model becomes increasingly homogeneous along with the training process. Consequently, the additional information brought by this paradigm is severely limited. In order to resolve this problem, we introduce a Tripartite learning with Semantic Variation Consistency (TSVC) for robust image-text retrieval. We design a tripartite cooperative learning mechanism comprising a Coordinator, a Master, and an Assistant model. The Coordinator distributes data, and the Assistant model supports the Master model's noisy label prediction with diverse data. Moreover, we introduce a soft label estimation method based on mutual information variation, which quantifies the noise in new samples and assigns corresponding soft labels. We also present a new loss function to enhance robustness and optimize training effectiveness. Extensive experiments on three widely used datasets demonstrate that, even at increasing noise ratios, TSVC exhibits significant advantages in retrieval accuracy and maintains stable training performance.

KBQA-o1: Agentic Knowledge Base Question Answering with Monte Carlo Tree Search

Knowledge Base Question Answering (KBQA) aims to answer natural language questions with a large-scale structured knowledge base (KB). Despite advancements with large language models (LLMs), KBQA still faces challenges in weak KB awareness, imbalance between effectiveness and efficiency, and high reliance on annotated data. To address these challenges, we propose KBQA-o1, a novel agentic KBQA method with Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS). It introduces a ReAct-based agent process for stepwise logical form generation with KB environment exploration. Moreover, it employs MCTS, a heuristic search method driven by policy and reward models, to balance agentic exploration's performance and search space. With heuristic exploration, KBQA-o1 generates high-quality annotations for further improvement by incremental fine-tuning. Experimental results show that KBQA-o1 outperforms previous low-resource KBQA methods with limited annotated data, boosting Llama-3.1-8B model's GrailQA F1 performance to 78.5% compared to 48.5% of the previous sota method with GPT-3.5-turbo. MASTER: Multi-Agent Security Through Exploration of Roles and Topological Structures -- A Comprehensive Framework

Large Language Models (LLMs)-based Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) exhibit remarkable problem-solving and task planning capabilities across diverse domains due to their specialized agentic roles and collaborative interactions. However, this also amplifies the severity of security risks under MAS attacks. To address this, we introduce MASTER, a novel security research framework for MAS, focusing on diverse Role configurations and Topological structures across various scenarios. SQL-o1: A Self-Reward Heuristic Dynamic Search Method for Text-to-SQL

Text-to-SQL (Text2SQL) aims to map natural language questions to executable SQL queries. Although large language models (LLMs) have driven significant progress, current approaches struggle with poor transferability to open-source LLMs, limited robustness against logic and function errors in complex queries, and inefficiencies in structured search. We introduce SQL-o1, a self-reward-driven heuristic search framework built on an agent-based architecture to enhance model reasoning capabilities. SQL-o1 leverages Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) for structured, multi-step exploration, and incorporates a dynamic pruning strategy to accelerate inference without sacrificing accuracy. On the Spider and Bird benchmarks, SQL-o1 achieves a +10.8 execution accuracy improvement on the complex Bird dataset, surpassing even GPT-4-based models. Notably, it exhibits strong few-shot generalization and robust cross-model transferability across open-source LLMs. Our code is available at:https://github.com/ShuaiLyu0110/SQL-o1.

Bidirectional LMs are Better Knowledge Memorizers? A Benchmark for Real-world Knowledge Injection

Despite significant advances in large language models (LLMs), their knowledge memorization capabilities remain underexplored, due to the lack of standardized and high-quality test ground. In this paper, we introduce a novel, real-world and large-scale knowledge injection benchmark that evolves continuously over time without requiring human intervention. Specifically, we propose WikiDYK, which leverages recently-added and human-written facts from Wikipedia's "Did You Know..." entries. These entries are carefully selected by expert Wikipedia editors based on criteria such as verifiability and clarity. Each entry is converted into multiple question-answer pairs spanning diverse task formats from easy cloze prompts to complex multi-hop questions. WikiDYK contains 12,290 facts and 77,180 questions, which is also seamlessly extensible with future updates from Wikipedia editors. Extensive experiments using continued pre-training reveal a surprising insight: despite their prevalence in modern LLMs, Causal Language Models (CLMs) demonstrate significantly weaker knowledge memorization capabilities compared to Bidirectional Language Models (BiLMs), exhibiting a 23% lower accuracy in terms of reliability. To compensate for the smaller scales of current BiLMs, we introduce a modular collaborative framework utilizing ensembles of BiLMs as external knowledge repositories to integrate with LLMs. Experiment shows that our framework further improves the reliability accuracy by up to 29.1%.

One-Shot Real-to-Sim via End-to-End Differentiable Simulation and Rendering

Identifying predictive world models for robots in novel environments from sparse online observations is essential for robot task planning and execution in novel environments. However, existing methods that leverage differentiable programming to identify world models are incapable of jointly optimizing the geometry, appearance, and physical properties of the scene. In this work, we introduce a novel rigid object representation that allows the joint identification of these properties. Our method employs a novel differentiable point-based geometry representation coupled with a grid-based appearance field, which allows differentiable object collision detection and rendering. Combined with a differentiable physical simulator, we achieve end-to-end optimization of world models, given the sparse visual and tactile observations of a physical motion sequence. Through a series of world model identification tasks in simulated and real environments, we show that our method can learn both simulation- and rendering-ready world models from only one robot action sequence. Fiber laser based stimulated Raman photothermal microscopy with long working distance optics

Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscopy is a highly sensitive chemical imaging technique. However, the broader application of SRS has been limited by two key challenges: the reliance on low-noise but bulky solid-state laser sources and stringent sample requirements necessitated by high numerical aperture (NA) optics. Here, we present a fiber laser based stimulated Raman photothermal (SRP) microscope that addresses these limitations. While appreciating the portability and compactness of a noisy source, fiber laser SRP enables a two-order-of-magnitude improvement in signal to noise ratio over fiber laser SRS without balance detection. Furthermore, with the use of low NA, long working distance optics for signal collection, SRP expands the allowed sample space from millimeters to centimeters, which diversifies the sample formats to multi-well plates and thick tissues. The sensitivity and imaging depth are further amplified by using urea for both thermal enhancement and tissue clearance. Together, fiber laser SRP microscopy provides a robust, user-friendly platform for diverse applications.

Hybrid and scalable photonic circuit cavity quantum electrodynamics

Similar to superconducting circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED), the development of a photonic analog--specifically, photonic circuit cQED--has become a major focus in integrated quantum photonics. Current solid-state cQED devices, however, face scalability challenges due to the difficulty in simultaneously spectral tuning of cavity modes and quantum emitters while ensuring in-plane optical modes confinement for efficient on-chip light routing. Here, we overcome these limitations by proposing and demonstrating a hybrid solid-state cQED platform integrated on a chip. Our device integrates semiconducting quantum dots (QDs) with a thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) microring resonator. Leveraging TFLN's ferroelectric and electro-optic (EO) properties, we implement local spectral tuning of both waveguide-coupled QDs and cavity modes. This approach achieves a broad spectral tuning range of up to 4.82 nm for individual QDs, enabling deterministic on-chip single-photon emission with a Purcell factor of 3.52. When combined with EO cavity tuning, we realize a spectrally tunable hybrid photonic circuit cQED device, sustaining near-constant Purcell factors of 1.89 over a 0.30 nm spectral range. This achievement enables scalable on-chip cavity-enhanced single-photon sources while preserving optical properties and maintaining compatibility with advanced photonic architectures, marking a significant step toward practical implementation of large-scale chip-based quantum networks.

Large-scale quantum-dot-lithium-niobate hybrid integrated photonic circuits enabling on-chip quantum networking

Hybrid integrated quantum photonics combines solid-state artificial atoms with reconfigurable photonic circuits, enabling scalable chip-based quantum networks. Self-assembled quantum dots (QDs) are ideal for this goal due to their ability to generate highly indistinguishable single photons with exceptional brightness. Integrating QDs into low-loss photonic circuits can facilitate complex quantum networks by enabling entanglement transfer via two-photon interference. However, challenges such as limited scalability, spectral inhomogeneity, and quantum interference between independent sources remain. We present a hybrid photonic architecture that integrates QD-containing waveguides with low-loss lithium niobate (LN) circuits, incorporating 20 deterministic single-photon sources (SPSs). Using the piezoelectric properties of thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN), we achieve on-chip local spectral tuning of QD emissions by up to 7.7 meV,three orders of magnitude greater than the transform-limited linewidth. This approach enables on-chip quantum interference with a visibility of 0.73 between two spatially separated QD SPSs connected by 0.48 mm long waveguides, establishing a functional quantum network. The large-scale integration of spectrally tunable QD-based SPSs into low-loss LN circuits, combined with fast electro-optical switching, paves the way for compact, lightweight, and scalable photonic quantum networks.

CalibQuant: 1-Bit KV Cache Quantization for Multimodal LLMs

Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have demonstrated remarkable performance across diverse applications. However, their computational overhead during deployment remains a critical bottleneck. While Key-Value (KV) caching effectively trades memory for computation to enhance inference efficiency, the growing memory footprint from extensive KV caches significantly reduces throughput and restricts prolonged deployment on memory-constrained GPU devices. To address this challenge, we propose CalibQuant, a simple yet highly effective visual quantization strategy that drastically reduces both memory and computational overhead. Specifically, CalibQuant introduces an extreme 1-bit quantization scheme, complemented by novel post-scaling and calibration techniques tailored to the intrinsic patterns of KV caches, thereby ensuring high efficiency without compromising model performance. Leveraging Triton for runtime optimization, we achieve a 10x throughput increase on InternVL models. Our method is designed to be plug-and-play, seamlessly integrating with various existing MLLMs without requiring architectural changes. Extensive experiments confirm that our approach significantly reduces memory usage while maintaining computational efficiency and preserving multimodal capabilities.
