Diffusion Image Editing via Asynchronous Token Decoding

Text-guided diffusion image editing aims to modify semantic attributes of an image while preserving its identity, layout, and background. However, na\"ively switching the text condition during sampling often causes global drift, as denoising dynamics propagate changes across tokens and can disrupt unedited regions. To address this issue, we propose \textbf{A}synchronous \textbf{T}oken \textbf{D}ecoding \textbf{Edit} (ATDEdit), an inference-time framework that views each sampler step as a parallel update of a globally coupled token matrix and enables token-indexed condition switching with differentiated update policies. Instead of applying synchronous target-conditioned updates to all tokens, ATDEdit estimates editable locations using token-wise conditional surprisal and applies target-conditioned corrections to the selected token set. It supplies source key/value memory at keep-token positions and projects selected keep-token latent rows back to their source values; these operations promote background preservation but do not constitute a pixel-level invariance guarantee. This approach combines local editing and background preservation without external or user-provided spatial masks and without model fine-tuning. On PIE-Bench, ATDEdit achieves the strongest reported preservation metrics, including 27.44~dB PSNR and 0.055 LPIPS, while retaining competitive semantic alignment.

PerceptionBench: Evaluating Atomic Visual Perception in Multimodal Large Language Models

We introduce PerceptionBench, a benchmark specifically designed to evaluate the atomic visual perception capabilities of Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs). Existing benchmarks often fail to isolate perception: holistic evaluations conflate perceptual errors with failures in reasoning or domain knowledge, while application-driven benchmarks only cover narrow, fragmented domains shaped by heuristic designs. To address these limitations, PerceptionBench adopts a bottom-up approach: by diagnosing the earliest failure points in the responses of frontier MLLMs across 42 existing benchmarks, we construct an error taxonomy whose perception branch defines ten atomic perceptual capabilities. Guided by this taxonomy, we construct 3,000 verified questions with short, unambiguous answers, each isolating a single capability, with difficulty stemming from perception rather than reasoning or knowledge. Benchmark results across sixteen frontier MLLMs reveal that atomic perception remains largely unsolved---no model reaches 60\% accuracy, perception-related hallucination is the weakest capability on average, and similar overall scores conceal sharply divergent capability profiles. PerceptionBench thus provides a capability-level standard for measuring and diagnosing the visual perception boundaries of MLLMs.

$\mathcal{S}^2$IT: Stepwise Syntax Integration Tuning for Large Language Models in Aspect Sentiment Quad Prediction

Aspect Sentiment Quad Prediction (ASQP) has seen significant advancements, largely driven by the powerful semantic understanding and generative capabilities of large language models (LLMs). However, while syntactic structure information has been proven effective in previous extractive paradigms, it remains underutilized in the generative paradigm of LLMs due to their limited reasoning capabilities. In this paper, we propose S^2IT, a novel Stepwise Syntax Integration Tuning framework that progressively integrates syntactic structure knowledge into LLMs through a multi-step tuning process. The training process is divided into three steps. S^2IT decomposes the quadruple generation task into two stages: 1) Global Syntax-guided Extraction and 2) Local Syntax-guided Classification, integrating both global and local syntactic structure information. Finally, Fine-grained Structural Tuning enhances the model's understanding of syntactic structures through the prediction of element links and node classification. Experiments demonstrate that S^2IT significantly improves state-of-the-art performance across multiple datasets. Our implementation will be open-sourced at https://github.com/DMIRLAB-Group/S2IT.

MMErroR: A Benchmark for Erroneous Reasoning in Vision-Language Models

Recent advances in Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have improved performance in multi-modal learning, raising the question of whether these models truly understand the content they process. Crucially, can VLMs detect when a reasoning process is wrong and identify its error type? To answer this, we present MMErroR, a multi-modal benchmark of 1997 samples, each embedding a single coherent reasoning error. These samples span 24 subdomains across six top-level domains, ensuring broad coverage and taxonomic richness. Unlike existing benchmarks that focus on answer correctness, MMErroR targets a process-level, error-centric evaluation that requires models to detect incorrect reasoning and classify the error type within both visual and linguistic contexts. We evaluate 12 representative VLMs, and even the best model, Gemini-3-Pro-Preview, classifies the error correctly in only 66.65\% of cases, underscoring the challenge of identifying erroneous reasoning. Furthermore, the ability to accurately identify errors offers valuable insights into the capabilities of multi-modal models. Project Page: https://mmerror-benchmark.github.io

PC-UNet: An Enforcing Poisson Statistics U-Net for Positron Emission Tomography Denoising

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is crucial in medicine, but its clinical use is limited due to high signal-to-noise ratio doses increasing radiation exposure. Lowering doses increases Poisson noise, which current denoising methods fail to handle, causing distortions and artifacts. We propose a Poisson Consistent U-Net (PC-UNet) model with a new Poisson Variance and Mean Consistency Loss (PVMC-Loss) that incorporates physical data to improve image fidelity. PVMC-Loss is statistically unbiased in variance and gradient adaptation, acting as a Generalized Method of Moments implementation, offering robustness to minor data mismatches. Tests on PET datasets show PC-UNet improves physical consistency and image fidelity, proving its ability to integrate physical information effectively.

A Survey on Post-training of Large Language Models

The emergence of Large Language Models (LLMs) has fundamentally transformed natural language processing, making them indispensable across domains ranging from conversational systems to scientific exploration. However, their pre-trained architectures often reveal limitations in specialized contexts, including restricted reasoning capacities, ethical uncertainties, and suboptimal domain-specific performance. These challenges necessitate advanced post-training language models (PoLMs) to address these shortcomings, such as OpenAI-o1/o3 and DeepSeek-R1 (collectively known as Large Reasoning Models, or LRMs). This paper presents the first comprehensive survey of PoLMs, systematically tracing their evolution across five core paradigms: Fine-tuning, which enhances task-specific accuracy; Alignment, which ensures ethical coherence and alignment with human preferences; Reasoning, which advances multi-step inference despite challenges in reward design; Efficiency, which optimizes resource utilization amidst increasing complexity; Integration and Adaptation, which extend capabilities across diverse modalities while addressing coherence issues. Charting progress from ChatGPT's alignment strategies to DeepSeek-R1's innovative reasoning advancements, we illustrate how PoLMs leverage datasets to mitigate biases, deepen reasoning capabilities, and enhance domain adaptability. Our contributions include a pioneering synthesis of PoLM evolution, a structured taxonomy categorizing techniques and datasets, and a strategic agenda emphasizing the role of LRMs in improving reasoning proficiency and domain flexibility. As the first survey of its scope, this work consolidates recent PoLM advancements and establishes a rigorous intellectual framework for future research, fostering the development of LLMs that excel in precision, ethical robustness, and versatility across scientific and societal applications.

MLP-KAN: Unifying Deep Representation and Function Learning

Recent advancements in both representation learning and function learning have demonstrated substantial promise across diverse domains of artificial intelligence. However, the effective integration of these paradigms poses a significant challenge, particularly in cases where users must manually decide whether to apply a representation learning or function learning model based on dataset characteristics. To address this issue, we introduce MLP-KAN, a unified method designed to eliminate the need for manual model selection. By integrating Multi-Layer Perceptrons (MLPs) for representation learning and Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks (KANs) for function learning within a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture, MLP-KAN dynamically adapts to the specific characteristics of the task at hand, ensuring optimal performance. Embedded within a transformer-based framework, our work achieves remarkable results on four widely-used datasets across diverse domains. Extensive experimental evaluation demonstrates its superior versatility, delivering competitive performance across both deep representation and function learning tasks. These findings highlight the potential of MLP-KAN to simplify the model selection process, offering a comprehensive, adaptable solution across various domains. Feature-augmented Machine Reading Comprehension with Auxiliary Tasks

While most successful approaches for machine reading comprehension rely on single training objective, it is assumed that the encoder layer can learn great representation through the loss function we define in the predict layer, which is cross entropy in most of time, in the case that we first use neural networks to encode the question and paragraph, then directly fuse the encoding result of them. However, due to the distantly loss backpropagating in reading comprehension, the encoder layer cannot learn effectively and be directly supervised. Thus, the encoder layer can not learn the representation well at any time. Base on this, we propose to inject multi granularity information to the encoding layer. Experiments demonstrate the effect of adding multi granularity information to the encoding layer can boost the performance of machine reading comprehension system. Finally, empirical study shows that our approach can be applied to many existing MRC models.
