Agent-Native Task-Oriented Communication with Joint Token Compression Coding and Modulation

As large foundation models empower agents to become pervasive across industries and emerge as central actors in intelligent systems, a fundamental rethinking of communication paradigms toward AI-native, agent-centric designs in the post-Shannon era becomes inevitable. One essential shift is that tokens, which are the minimal semantic units natively processed by large language models (LLMs), should replace bits as the fundamental unit of communication. However, existing works in the LLMs field assume lossless token transmission over high-speed wired links and largely neglect the air-interface overhead and channel distortions inherent in wireless environments, lacking a native design for wireless token communication systems. To bridge this gap, we propose an innovative design for a token transmitter-receiver architecture that facilitates task-oriented token transmission. Specifically, we propose JTCM (Joint Token Coding and Modulation), an AI-native semantic communication framework that jointly optimizes token representation, channel coding, and modulation to maximize downstream task performance directly. Correspondingly, we propose a two-stage training scheme. In the first stage, the token encoder-decoder pair is pre-trained to enable semantic-preserving compression and reconstruction. In the second stage, it is fine-tuned end-to-end with a multi-modal foundation model under specific downstream tasks to achieve task-aware optimization. Extensive experiments demonstrate that JTCM significantly reduces transmission overhead while enhancing task accuracy and robustness compared to state-of-the-art baselines in bandwidth- and SNR-constrained wireless channels.

Free-Riding the Agentic Web: A Systematic Security Analysis of x402 Payments

The x402 protocol has crossed from prototype to infrastructure for the agentic web, driving 130 million all-time transactions and embedded in Google Cloud, Cloudflare, and Stripe. Yet bridging synchronous HTTP requests with asynchronous blockchain finality creates state-synchronization challenges, and x402's security has so far been examined only in piecemeal vendor disclosures. It is moreover not one artefact but a stack of an HTTP semantic, per-chain schemes, and a long tail of SDK and deployment choices whose required guarantees prior work has not established. We perform a systematic security analysis organized around five invariants grounded in specifications, literature, and vendor expectations, resolving every violation to the responsible layer. We identify four flaw classes: cross-resource substitution, duplicate-settlement race (independently corroborated by subsequent third-party reports), allowance overdraft, and denial of settlement. Against official SDKs and a production deployment, these reach resource-leakage ratios up to 100%. For pay-per-token scheme we prove a structural limit: no output-only pricing can be both fair to honest users and bounded against inflation of the hidden "thinking" tokens, the price of fairness being a $\sqrt{1+\Theta}$ manipulation gap. We propose per-flaw mitigations and a defense triple with provable guarantees, cutting per-call reasoning cost by 47% and inverting attacker leverage from 8.7$\times$ to 0.9$\times$ at only 2.8% overhead. All findings have been disclosed.

DeflareMamba: Hierarchical Vision Mamba for Contextually Consistent Lens Flare Removal

Lens flare removal remains an information confusion challenge in the underlying image background and the optical flares, due to the complex optical interactions between light sources and camera lens. While recent solutions have shown promise in decoupling the flare corruption from image, they often fail to maintain contextual consistency, leading to incomplete and inconsistent flare removal. To eliminate this limitation, we propose DeflareMamba, which leverages the efficient sequence modeling capabilities of state space models while maintains the ability to capture local-global dependencies. Particularly, we design a hierarchical framework that establishes long-range pixel correlations through varied stride sampling patterns, and utilize local-enhanced state space models that simultaneously preserves local details. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that introduces state space models to the flare removal task. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method effectively removes various types of flare artifacts, including scattering and reflective flares, while maintaining the natural appearance of non-flare regions. Further downstream applications demonstrate the capacity of our method to improve visual object recognition and cross-modal semantic understanding. AI2MMUM: AI-AI Oriented Multi-Modal Universal Model Leveraging Telecom Domain Large Model

Designing a 6G-oriented universal model capable of processing multi-modal data and executing diverse air interface tasks has emerged as a common goal in future wireless systems. Building on our prior work in communication multi-modal alignment and telecom large language model (LLM), we propose a scalable, task-aware artificial intelligence-air interface multi-modal universal model (AI2MMUM), which flexibility and effectively perform various physical layer tasks according to subtle task instructions. The LLM backbone provides robust contextual comprehension and generalization capabilities, while a fine-tuning approach is adopted to incorporate domain-specific knowledge. To enhance task adaptability, task instructions consist of fixed task keywords and learnable, implicit prefix prompts. Frozen radio modality encoders extract universal representations and adapter layers subsequently bridge radio and language modalities. Moreover, lightweight task-specific heads are designed to directly output task objectives. Comprehensive evaluations demonstrate that AI2MMUM achieves SOTA performance across five representative physical environment/wireless channel-based downstream tasks using the WAIR-D and DeepMIMO datasets.

Addressing the Curse of Scenario and Task Generalization in AI-6G: A Multi-Modal Paradigm

Existing works on machine learning (ML)-empowered wireless communication primarily focus on monolithic scenarios and single tasks. However, with the blooming growth of communication task classes coupled with various task requirements in future 6G systems, this working pattern is obviously unsustainable. Therefore, identifying a groundbreaking paradigm that enables a universal model to solve multiple tasks in the physical layer within diverse scenarios is crucial for future system evolution. This paper aims to fundamentally address the curse of ML model generalization across diverse scenarios and tasks by unleashing multi-modal feature integration capabilities in future systems. Given the universality of electromagnetic propagation theory, the communication process is determined by the scattering environment, which can be more comprehensively characterized by cross-modal perception, thus providing sufficient information for all communication tasks across varied environments. This fact motivates us to propose a transformative two-stage multi-modal pre-training and downstream task adaptation paradigm...

PINNsAgent: Automated PDE Surrogation with Large Language Models

Solving partial differential equations (PDEs) using neural methods has been a long-standing scientific and engineering research pursuit. Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) have emerged as a promising alternative to traditional numerical methods for solving PDEs. However, the gap between domain-specific knowledge and deep learning expertise often limits the practical application of PINNs. Previous works typically involve manually conducting extensive PINNs experiments and summarizing heuristic rules for hyperparameter tuning. In this work, we introduce PINNsAgent, a novel surrogation framework that leverages large language models (LLMs) and utilizes PINNs as a foundation to bridge the gap between domain-specific knowledge and deep learning. Specifically, PINNsAgent integrates (1) Physics-Guided Knowledge Replay (PGKR), which encodes the essential characteristics of PDEs and their associated best-performing PINNs configurations into a structured format, enabling efficient knowledge transfer from solved PDEs to similar problems and (2) Memory Tree Reasoning, a strategy that effectively explores the search space for optimal PINNs architectures. By leveraging LLMs and exploration strategies, PINNsAgent enhances the automation and efficiency of PINNs-based solutions. We evaluate PINNsAgent on 14 benchmark PDEs, demonstrating its effectiveness in automating the surrogation process and significantly improving the accuracy of PINNs-based solutions.

LLM Agents as 6G Orchestrator: A Paradigm for Task-Oriented Physical-Layer Automation

The rapid advancement in generative pre-training models is propelling a paradigm shift in technological progression from basic applications such as chatbots towards more sophisticated agent-based systems. It is with huge potential and necessity that the 6G system be combined with the copilot of large language model (LLM) agents and digital twins (DT) to manage the highly complicated communication system with new emerging features such as native AI service and sensing. With the 6G-oriented agent, the base station could understand the transmission requirements of various dynamic upper-layer tasks, automatically orchestrate the optimal system workflow. Through continuously get feedback from the 6G DT for reinforcement, the agents can finally raise the performance of practical system accordingly. Differing from existing LLM agents designed for general application, the 6G-oriented agent aims to make highly rigorous and precise planning with a vast amount of extra expert knowledge, which inevitably requires a specific system design from model training to implementation. This paper proposes a novel comprehensive approach for building task-oriented 6G LLM agents. We first propose a two-stage continual pre-training and fine-tuning scheme to build the field basic model and diversities of specialized expert models for meeting the requirements of various application scenarios. Further, a novel inference framework based on semantic retrieval for leveraging the existing communication-related functions is proposed. Experiment results of exemplary tasks, such as physical-layer task decomposition, show the proposed paradigm's feasibility and effectiveness.

NB-IoT Uplink Synchronization by Change Point Detection of Phase Series in NTNs

Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) are widely recognized as a potential solution to achieve ubiquitous connections of Narrow Bandwidth Internet of Things (NB-IoT). In order to adopt NTNs in NB-IoT, one of the main challenges is the uplink synchronization of Narrowband Physical Random Access procedure which refers to the estimation of time of arrival (ToA) and carrier frequency offset (CFO). Due to the large propagation delay and Doppler shift in NTNs, traditional estimation methods for Terrestrial Networks (TNs) can not be applied in NTNs directly. In this context, we design a two stage ToA and CFO estimation scheme including coarse estimation and fine estimation based on abrupt change point detection (CPD) of phase series with machine learning. Our method achieves high estimation accuracy of ToA and CFO under the low signal-noise ratio (SNR) and large Doppler shift conditions and extends the estimation range without enhancing Random Access preambles.
