DroidRetriever: A Transparent and Steerable Automation System for Collaborative Mobile Information Seeking

Information seeking on mobile devices is often fragmented, trapping users in repetitive cycles of context switching and data re-entry, which increases cognitive load and disrupts workflow. Existing mobile agents provide limited cross-source integration and are largely opaque, presenting progress as a linear feed with few opportunities to intervene, steer, or take control. We present DroidRetriever, a transparent, steerable system for cross-source mobile information seeking. It accepts voice or typed input and the multi-LLM system decomposes the task, navigates to target pages, takes screenshots, and synthesizes a concise report with citation-linked screenshots. We make the process transparent through a progress dashboard combining sub-task progress and real-time exploration maps for seamless takeover. DroidRetriever also pauses on detected privacy or high-risk screens and prompts intervention. Across 35 tasks over 24 apps, experiments and user studies demonstrate improvements in coverage, transparency, and reduced workload. We release our code at https://github.com/AkimotoAyako/DroidRetriever.

Wideband RF Radiance Field Modeling Using Frequency-embedded 3D Gaussian Splatting

Indoor environments typically contain diverse RF signals distributed across multiple frequency bands, including NB-IoT, Wi-Fi, and millimeter-wave. Consequently, wideband RF modeling is essential for practical applications such as joint deployment of heterogeneous RF systems, cross-band communication, and distributed RF sensing. Although 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) techniques effectively reconstruct RF radiance fields at a single frequency, they cannot model fields at arbitrary or unknown frequencies across a wide range. In this paper, we present a novel 3DGS algorithm for unified wideband RF radiance field modeling. RF wave propagation depends on signal frequency and the 3D spatial environment, including geometry and material electromagnetic (EM) properties. To address these factors, we introduce a frequency-embedded EM feature network that utilizes 3D Gaussian spheres at each spatial location to learn the relationship between frequency and transmission characteristics, such as attenuation and radiance intensity. With a dataset containing sparse frequency samples in a specific 3D environment, our model can efficiently reconstruct RF radiance fields at arbitrary and unseen frequencies. To assess our approach, we introduce a large-scale power angular spectrum (PAS) dataset with 50,000 samples spanning 1 to 94 GHz across six indoor environments. Experimental results show that the proposed model trained on multiple frequencies achieves a Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM) of 0.922 for PAS reconstruction, surpassing state-of-the-art single-frequency 3DGS models with SSIM of 0.863.

One Walk is All You Need: Data-Efficient 3D RF Scene Reconstruction with Human Movements

Reconstructing 3D Radiance Field (RF) scenes through opaque obstacles is a long-standing goal, yet it is fundamentally constrained by a laborious data acquisition process requiring thousands of static measurements, which treats human motion as noise to be filtered. This work introduces a new paradigm with a core objective: to perform fast, data-efficient, and high-fidelity RF reconstruction of occluded 3D static scenes, using only a single, brief human walk. We argue that this unstructured motion is not noise, but is in fact an information-rich signal available for reconstruction. To achieve this, we design a factorization framework based on composite 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) that learns to model the dynamic effects of human motion from the persistent static scene geometry within a raw RF stream. Trained on just a single 60-second casual walk, our model reconstructs the full static scene with a Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) of 0.96, remarkably outperforming heavily-sampled state-of-the-art (SOTA) by 12%. By transforming the human movements into its valuable signals, our method eliminates the data acquisition bottleneck and paves the way for on-the-fly 3D RF mapping of unseen environments.

Predicting User Behavior in Smart Spaces with LLM-Enhanced Logs and Personalized Prompts

Enhancing the intelligence of smart systems, such as smart home, and smart vehicle, and smart grids, critically depends on developing sophisticated planning capabilities that can anticipate the next desired function based on historical interactions. While existing methods view user behaviors as sequential data and apply models like RNNs and Transformers to predict future actions, they often fail to incorporate domain knowledge and capture personalized user preferences. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that incorporates LLM-enhanced logs and personalized prompts. Our approach first constructs a graph that captures individual behavior preferences derived from their interaction histories. This graph effectively transforms into a soft continuous prompt that precedes the sequence of user behaviors. Then our approach leverages the vast general knowledge and robust reasoning capabilities of a pretrained LLM to enrich the oversimplified and incomplete log records. By enhancing these logs semantically, our approach better understands the user's actions and intentions, especially for those rare events in the dataset. We evaluate the method across four real-world datasets from both smart vehicle and smart home settings. The findings validate the effectiveness of our LLM-enhanced description and personalized prompt, shedding light on potential ways to advance the intelligence of smart space.

VisionTasker: Mobile Task Automation Using Vision Based UI Understanding and LLM Task Planning

Mobile task automation is an emerging field that leverages AI to streamline and optimize the execution of routine tasks on mobile devices, thereby enhancing efficiency and productivity. Traditional methods, such as Programming By Demonstration (PBD), are limited due to their dependence on predefined tasks and susceptibility to app updates. Recent advancements have utilized the view hierarchy to collect UI information and employed Large Language Models (LLM) to enhance task automation. However, view hierarchies have accessibility issues and face potential problems like missing object descriptions or misaligned structures. This paper introduces VisionTasker, a two-stage framework combining vision-based UI understanding and LLM task planning, for mobile task automation in a step-by-step manner. VisionTasker firstly converts a UI screenshot into natural language interpretations using a vision-based UI understanding approach, eliminating the need for view hierarchies. Secondly, it adopts a step-by-step task planning method, presenting one interface at a time to the LLM. The LLM then identifies relevant elements within the interface and determines the next action, enhancing accuracy and practicality. Extensive experiments show that VisionTasker outperforms previous methods, providing effective UI representations across four datasets. Additionally, in automating 147 real-world tasks on an Android smartphone, VisionTasker demonstrates advantages over humans in tasks where humans show unfamiliarity and shows significant improvements when integrated with the PBD mechanism. VisionTasker is open-source and available at https://github.com/AkimotoAyako/VisionTasker.

Resilient Microgrid Formation Considering Communication Interruptions

Distribution system (DS) communication failures following extreme events often degrade monitoring and control functions, thus preventing the acquisition of complete global DS component state information, on which existing post-disaster DS restoration methods are based. This letter proposes methods of inferring the states of DS components in the case of incomplete component state information. By using the known DS information, the operating states of unobservable DS branches and buses can be inferred, providing complete information for DS performance restoration before full communication recovery

Secure and Scalable Network Slicing with Plug-and-Play Support for Power Distribution System Communication Networks

With the rapid development of power distribution systems (PDSs), the number of terminal devices and the types of delivered services involved are constantly growing. These trends make the operations of PDSs highly dependent on the support of advanced communication networks, which face two related challenges. The first is to provide sufficient flexibility, resilience, and security to meet varying demands and ensure the proper operation of gradually diversifying network services. The second is to realize the automatic identification of terminal devices, thus reducing the network maintenance burden. To solve these problems, this paper presents a novel multiservice network integration and device authentication slice-based network slicing scheme. In this scheme, the integration of PDS communication networks enables network resource sharing, and recovery from communication interruption is achieved through network slicing in the integrated network. Authentication servers periodically poll terminal devices, adjusting network slice ranges based on authentication results, thereby facilitating dynamic network slicing. Additionally, secure plug-and-play support for PDS terminal devices and network protection are achieved through device identification and dynamic adjustment of network slices. On this basis, a network optimization and upgrading methodology for load balancing and robustness enhancement is further proposed. This approach is designed to improve the performance of PDS communication networks, adapting to ongoing PDS development and the evolution of PDS services. The simulation results show that the proposed schemes endow a PDS communication network with favorable resource utilization, fault recovery, terminal device plug-and-play support, load balancing, and improved network robustness.
