RRSR:Reciprocal Reference-based Image Super-Resolution with Progressive Feature Alignment and Selection

Reference-based image super-resolution (RefSR) is a promising SR branch and has shown great potential in overcoming the limitations of single image super-resolution. While previous state-of-the-art RefSR methods mainly focus on improving the efficacy and robustness of reference feature transfer, it is generally overlooked that a well reconstructed SR image should enable better SR reconstruction for its similar LR images when it is referred to as. Therefore, in this work, we propose a reciprocal learning framework that can appropriately leverage such a fact to reinforce the learning of a RefSR network. Besides, we deliberately design a progressive feature alignment and selection module for further improving the RefSR task. The newly proposed module aligns reference-input images at multi-scale feature spaces and performs reference-aware feature selection in a progressive manner, thus more precise reference features can be transferred into the input features and the network capability is enhanced. Our reciprocal learning paradigm is model-agnostic and it can be applied to arbitrary RefSR models. We empirically show that multiple recent state-of-the-art RefSR models can be consistently improved with our reciprocal learning paradigm. Furthermore, our proposed model together with the reciprocal learning strategy sets new state-of-the-art performances on multiple benchmarks.

Neural Color Operators for Sequential Image Retouching

We propose a novel image retouching method by modeling the retouching process as performing a sequence of newly introduced trainable neural color operators. The neural color operator mimics the behavior of traditional color operators and learns pixelwise color transformation while its strength is controlled by a scalar. To reflect the homomorphism property of color operators, we employ equivariant mapping and adopt an encoder-decoder structure which maps the non-linear color transformation to a much simpler transformation (i.e., translation) in a high dimensional space. The scalar strength of each neural color operator is predicted using CNN based strength predictors by analyzing global image statistics. Overall, our method is rather lightweight and offers flexible controls. Experiments and user studies on public datasets show that our method consistently achieves the best results compared with SOTA methods in both quantitative measures and visual qualities. Discovering the Higgs Bosons of Minimal Supersymmetry with Bottom Quarks

We investigate the prospects for the discovery of a neutral Higgs boson produced with one bottom quark followed by Higgs decay into a pair of bottom quarks at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We work within the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model. The dominant physics background is calculated with realistic acceptance cuts and efficiencies including the production of $bb\bar{b}$, $\bar{b}b\bar{b}$, $jb\bar{b}$ ($j = g, q, \bar{q}$; $q = u, d, s, c$), $t\bar{t} \to b\bar{b}jj\ellν$, and $t\bar{t} \to b\bar{b}jjjj$. Promising results are found for the CP-odd pseudoscalar ($A^0$) and the heavier CP-even scalar ($H^0$) Higgs bosons with masses up to 800 GeV for the LHC with an integrated luminosity ($L$) of 30 fb$^{-1}$ and up to 1 TeV for $L =$ 300 fb$^{-1}$.

Discovering the Higgs Bosons of Minimal Supersymmetry with Tau Leptons and a Bottom Quark

We investigate the prospects for the discovery at the CERN Large Hadron Collider or at the Fermilab Tevatron of neutral Higgs bosons through the channel where the Higgs are produced together with a single bottom quark and the Higgs decays into a pair of tau leptons, $bg \to bϕ^0 \to bτ^+τ^-, ϕ^0 = h^0, H^0, A^0$. We work within the framework of the minimal supersymmetric model. The dominant physics background from the production of $bτ^+τ^-$, $jτ^+τ^-$ ($j = g, u, d, s, c$), $b\bar{b}W^+W^-$, $W+2j$ and $Wbj$ is calculated with realistic acceptance cuts and efficiencies. Promising results are found for the CP-odd pseudoscalar ($A^0$) and the heavier CP-even scalar ($H^0$) Higgs bosons with masses up to one TeV.

SUSY QCD Corrections to Higgs Pair Production from Bottom Quark Fusion

We present a complete next-to-leading order (NLO) calculation for the total cross section for inclusive Higgs pair production via bottom-quark fusion at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) and the minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA). We emphasize the contributions of squark and gluino loops (SQCD) and the decoupling properties of our results for heavy squark and gluino masses. The enhanced couplings of the b quark to the Higgs bosons in supersymmetric models with large tanb yield large NLO SQCD corrections in some regions of parameter space.

Bs ->mu+ mu- versus Direct Higgs Searches

We investigate the prospects for the discovery of neutral Higgs bosons with muons by direct searches at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) as well as by indirect searches in the rare decay Bs -> mu+ mu- at the Fermilab Tevatron and the LHC. Promising results have been found for the minimal supersymmetric standard model, the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model, and supergravity models with non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM SUGRA). For tanb \simeq 50, we find that (i) the contours for a branching fraction of B(Bs -> mu+ mu-) = 1x10^{-8} in the parameter space are very close to the 5σcontours for pp -> b ϕ^0 -> b mu+ mu- + X, ϕ^0 = h^0, H^0, A^0 at the LHC with an integrated luminosity (L) of 30 fb^{-1},(ii) the regions covered by B(Bs -> mu+ mu-) \ge 5x10^{-9} and the discovery region for bϕ^0 -> b mu+ mu- with 300 fb^{-1} are complementary in the mSUGRA parameter space,(iii) in NUHM SUGRA models, a discovery of B(Bs -> mu+ mu-) \simeq 5x10^{-9} at the LHC will cover regions of the parameter space beyond the direct search for pp -> bϕ^0 -> b mu+ mu- with L = 300 fb^{-1}.

QCD Corrections to Higgs Pair Production in Bottom Quark Fusion

We present a complete next-to-leading order (NLO) calculation for the total cross section of inclusive Higgs pair production via bottom-quark fusion ($b\bar{b} \to hh$) at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the Standard Model. The NLO QCD corrections lead to less dependence on the renormalization scale ($μ_R$) and the factorization scale ($μ_F$) than the leading-order (LO) cross section, and they significantly increase the LO cross section. The rate for inclusive Higgs pair production is small in the Standard Model, but can be large in models with enhanced couplings of the $b$ quark to the Higgs bosons.

New CP-odd Observable in H -> t \bar{t}

We study a CP-violating triple product correlation that occurs in the decay of a neutral Higgs boson into t\bar{t} pairs when the Higgs boson does not have a definite CP nature. We consider the H -> t \bar{t} decay channel as well as the gluon fusion process gg -> H -> t \bar{t}. The asymmetry in Higgs decay, normalized to the H -> t \bar{t} width, can reach the 6% percent level. In the gluon fusion process the corresponding normalized asymmetry is smaller by an order of magnitude. We present a crude estimate of this observable at the LHC.

Detecting Higgs Bosons with Muons at Hadron Colliders

We investigate the prospects for the discovery of neutral Higgs bosons with a pair of muons by direct searches at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) as well as by indirect searches in the rare decay $B_s \to μ^+μ^-$ at the Fermilab Tevatron and the LHC. Promising results are found for the minimal supersymmetric standard model, the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model, and supergravity models with non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM SUGRA). For $\tanβ\simeq 50$, we find that (i) the contours for a branching fraction of $B(B_s \to μ^+μ^-) = 1 \times 10^{-8}$ in the parameter space are very close to the $5σ$ contours for $pp \to bϕ^0 \to bμ^+μ^- +X, ϕ^0 = h^0, H^0, A^0$ at the LHC with an integrated luminosity ($L$) of 30 fb$^{-1}$, (ii) the regions covered by $B(B_s \to μ^+μ^-) \ge 5\times 10^{-9}$ and the discovery region for $bϕ^0 \to bμ^+μ^-$ with 300 fb$^{-1}$ are complementary in the mSUGRA parameter space, (iii) in NUHM SUGRA models, a discovery of $B(B_s \to μ^+μ^-) \simeq 5\times 10^{-9}$ at the LHC will cover regions of the parameter space beyond the direct search for $bϕ^0 \to bμ^+μ^-$ with $L = 300$ fb$^{-1}$.

Transverse momentum distribution of Upsilon production in hadronic collisions

We calculate the transverse momentum p_T distribution for production of the Upsilon states in hadronic reactions. For small $p_T (\leq M_Υ)$, we resum to all orders in the strong coupling alpha_s the process-independent large logarithmic contributions that arise from initial-state gluon showers. We demonstrate that the p_T distribution at low p_T is dominated by the region of small impact parameter b and that it may be computed reliably in perturbation theory. We express the cross section at large p_T by the alpha_s^3 lowest-order non-vanishing perturbative contribution. Our results are consistent with data from the Fermilab Tevatron collider.

Lepton flavor violating tau and B decays and heavy neutrinos

We study lepton flavor violating (LFV) tau and B decays in models with heavy neutrinos to constrain the mixing matrix parameters U_{tau N}. We find that the best current constraints when the heavy neutrinos are purely left-handed come from LFV radiative tau decay modes. To obtain competitive constraints in LFV B decay it is necessary to probe b -> X_{s} tau^{\pm} e^{\mp} at the 10^{-7} level. When the heavy neutrinos have both left and right-handed couplings, the mixing parameters can be constrained by studying LFV B decay modes and LFV tau decay into three charged leptons. We find that the branching ratios B(tau^{\pm} -> l_1^{\pm} l_2^{\pm} l_3^{\mp}), B(B_{s} -> tau^{\pm} e^{\mp}) and B(b -> X_{s} l_1^{\pm} l_2^{\mp}) need to be probed at the 10^{-8} level in order to constrain the mixing parameters beyond what is known from unitarity.

New Signatures For Top In Hadron Collider

We study the signatures for new TeV resonances that couple to top or bottom quarks both at the Tevatron Run II and at the LHC. We find that it is possible to study these resonances when they are produced in association with a pair of heavy quarks or in association with a single top at the LHC. In particular, with an integrated luminosity of 300 fb$^{-1}$ at the LHC, it is possible to probe resonance masses up to around 2 TeV.

Upsilon Transverse Momentum at Hadron Colliders

We predict the shape of the transverse momentum p_T spectrum of Upsilon production. The distribution at low p_T is dominated by the region of small impact parameter b and may be computed reliably in perturbation theory. We resum to all orders in the strong coupling alpha_s the process-independent large logarithmic contributions that arise from initial-state gluon showers in the small p_T (< M_Upsilon) region. The cross section at large p_T is represented by the alpha_s^3 lowest-order non-vanishing perturbative contribution.

Hadron Collider Signatures for New Interactions of Top and Bottom Quarks

One of the main goals for hadron colliders is the study of the properties of the third generation quarks. We study the signatures for new TeV resonances that couple to top or bottom quarks both at the Tevatron Run II and at the LHC. We find that in the simplest production processes of Drell-Yan type at the Tevatron, the signals are overwhelmed by QCD backgrounds. We also find that it is possible to study these resonances when they are produced in association with a pair of heavy quarks or in association with a single top at the LHC.In particular, with an integrated luminosity of 300 fb$^{-1}$ at the LHC, it is possible to probe resonance masses up to around 2 TeV.

Rate difference between b $\to$ s mu^+ mu^- and b $\to$ s e^+e^- in SUSY with large tan$β$

We study the inclusive semileptonic rare decay $b \to s l^+ l^-$ in minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA). If tan$β$ is large, down-type quark mass matrices and their Yukawa couplings cannot be diagonalized at the same basis. This induces the flavor violating neutral Higgs boson couplings. These couplings contribute significantly to decay $b \to s mu^+ mu^-$ and $b \to s tau^+ tau^-$, but negligible to $b \to s e^+ e^-$ decay because of its negligible $m_e$ mass. The ratio $R \equiv B(b \to s mu^+ mu^-)/ B(b \to s e^+ e^-)$ can be very different from its corresponding value in the Standard Model. We find that part of parameter space can accommodate a large R value, and that maximum R value can be larger than 2. We also present our results in $b \to s tau^+ tau^-$ decay channel. Although it can be not detected now, it is potentially a new channel for the future observation of new physics.

Chargino Contributions in $B \to ϕK_S$ Asymmetry

CP asymmetry in $B \to ϕK_S$ decay is studied in a special context of supersymmetry theories, in which the charginos play an important role. We find that in addition to the gluino, chargino can also make large contributions to CP asymmetry in $B \to ϕK_S$ decay. After considering the constraints from $B \to J/psi K_S$ decay, we study three special scenarios: (a). Large mixing on left-handed charm and top squarks (LL mixing); (b). Large mixing on right-handed charm and top squarks (RR mixing); (c). Large mixing on left-handed charm and top squarks plus right-handed charm and top squarks (LL + RR mixing). We show quantitatively that because of large squark mixing within second and third generations, an $\mathcal O$(1) effect on CP violation in $B \to ϕK_S$ is possible.

Higgs-mediated leptonic decays of B_s and B_d mesons as probes of supersymmetry

If tan(beta) is large, down-type quark mass matrices and Yukawa couplings cannot be simultaneously diagonalized, and flavour violating couplings of the neutral Higgs bosons are induced at the 1-loop level. These couplings lead to Higgs-mediated contributions to the decays B_s -> mu+ mu- and B_d -> tau+ tau-, at a level that might be of interest for the current Tevatron run, or possibly, at B-factories. We evaluate the branching ratios for these decays within the framework of minimal gravity-, gauge- and anomaly-mediated SUSY breaking models, and also in SU(5) supergravity models with non-universal gaugino mass parameters at the GUT scale. We find that the contribution from gluino loops, which seems to have been left out in recent phenomenological analyses, is significant. We explore how the branching fraction varies in these models, emphasizing parameter regions consistent with other observations.

Aspects of Supersymmetric Models with a Radiatively Driven Inverted Mass Hierarchy

A promising way to reconcile naturalness with a decoupling solution to the SUSY flavor and CP problems is suggested by models with a radiatively driven inverted mass hierarchy (RIMH). The RIMH models arise naturally within the context of SUSY SO(10) grand unified theories. In their original form, RIMH models suffer from two problems: 1.) obtaining the radiative breakdown of electroweak symmetry, and 2.) generating the correct masses for third generation fermions. The first problem can be solved by the introduction of SO(10) D-term contributions to scalar masses. We show that correct fermion masses can indeed be obtained, but at the cost of limiting the magnitude of the hierarchy that can be generated. We go on to compute predictions for the neutralino relic density as well as for the rate for the decay $b\to sγ$, and show that these yield significant constraints on model parameter space. We show that only a tiny corner of model parameter space is accessible to Fermilab Tevatron searches, assuming an integrated luminosity of 25~$fb^{-1}$. We also quantify the reach of the CERN LHC collider for this class of models, and find values of $m_{\tg}\sim 1600$ GeV to be accessible assuming just 10 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. In an Appendix, we list the two loop renormalization group equations for the MSSM plus right handed neutrino model that we have used in our analysis.
