Empowering LLMs in Task-Oriented Dialogues: A Domain-Independent Multi-Agent Framework and Fine-Tuning Strategy

Task-oriented dialogue systems based on Large Language Models (LLMs) have gained increasing attention across various industries and achieved significant results. Current approaches condense complex procedural workflows into a single agent to achieve satisfactory performance on large-scale LLMs. However, these approaches face challenges to achieve comparable performance on fine-tuned lightweight LLMs, due to their limited capabilities in handling multiple complex logic. In this work, we design a Domain-Independent Multi-Agent Framework (DIMF), which contains Intent Classification Agent, Slot Filling Agent and Response Agent. This approach simplifies the learning complexity and enhances the generalization ability by separating the tasks into domain-independent components. In this framework, we enhance the capabilities in contextual understanding using the Direct Preference Optimisation (DPO) method, and propose a simple and effective Data Distribution Adaptation (DDA) method to mitigate degradation issues during DPO training. Experiments conducted on the MultiWOZ datasets show that our proposed method achieves a better average performance among all the baselines. Extensive analysis also demonstrates that our proposed framework exhibits excellent generalizability and zero-shot capability.

RAIDEN-R1: Improving Role-awareness of LLMs via GRPO with Verifiable Reward

Role-playing conversational agents (RPCAs) face persistent challenges in maintaining role consistency. To address this, we propose RAIDEN-R1, a novel reinforcement learning framework that integrates Verifiable Role-Awareness Reward (VRAR). The method introduces both singular and multi-term mining strategies to generate quantifiable rewards by assessing role-specific keys. Additionally, we construct a high-quality, role-aware Chain-of-Thought dataset through multi-LLM collaboration, and implement experiments to enhance reasoning coherence. Experiments on the RAIDEN benchmark demonstrate RAIDEN-R1's superiority: our 14B-GRPO model achieves 88.04% and 88.65% accuracy on Script-Based Knowledge and Conversation Memory metrics, respectively, outperforming baseline models while maintaining robustness. Case analyses further reveal the model's enhanced ability to resolve conflicting contextual cues and sustain first-person narrative consistency. This work bridges the non-quantifiability gap in RPCA training and provides insights into role-aware reasoning patterns, advancing the development of RPCAs.

Super-bath Quantum Eigensolver

The simulation of the dynamics of a system coupled to a low-temperature environment is a promising application of quantum computers to determine ground-state properties of physical systems. However, this approach requires not only the $\textit{existence}$ of an environment that allows the system to dissipate energy and evolve to its ground state, but also the $\textit{detailed knowledge}$ of the properties of the bath. In this paper, we propose a polynomial-time algorithm for ground state preparation which only relies on the $\textit{existence}$ of a physical bath which achieves the same task, while a detailed description of the environment may remain $\textit{unknown}$. In particular, we show that this ``super-bath quantum eigensolver algorithm'' prepares the ground state of the system by combining a Gaussian stabilization dephasing procedure with the simulation of the interaction between the system and a super-bath which only requires minimal knowledge of the physical environment. Based on our algorithmic framework, we establish a partial order relation among environments. Supported by experimental lifetime data of nuclear metastable states, we suggest that our algorithm is applicable to determine nuclear ground states in polynomial time. These results highlight the potential advantage of quantum computing in addressing ground state problems in real-world physical systems.

Scattering symmetry of diffusive systems

Significant progress in manipulating heat diffusion has been achieved with the advent of non-Hermitian physics and topology. However, previous studies on diffusive systems have primarily concentrated on isolated cases, where fields decay exponentially over time. In practical scenarios, systems inevitably interact with external environments, making it essential to study their responses to external heat signals. This, in turn, relies on analyzing the scattering behavior of these signals. In our work, we experimentally realize thermal scattering in a diffusive anti-parity-time (APT) system. We define key parameters of the temperature field-amplitude, phase, and chirality-and reveal that the scattering symmetry of the APT diffusive system only arises when temperature signals with different chiralities interact. Such mechanism is induced by the unique dispersion properties in diffusive systems, where positive and negative frequencies are inequivalent, corresponding to different chiralities. This also explains the difficulty of observing APT scattering symmetry in wave systems. Our findings highlight the pivotal role of scattering channels in the symmetry and phase transitions of non-Hermitian systems and propose novel approaches for analyzing and controlling strongly dissipative phenomena.

Constant-Overhead Magic State Injection into qLDPC Codes with Error Independence Guarantees

Magic states are essential yet resource-intensive components for realizing universal fault-tolerant quantum computation. Preparing magic states within emerging quantum low-density parity-check (qLDPC) codes poses additional challenges, due to the complex encoding structures. Here, we introduce a generic and scalable method for magic state injection into arbitrarily selected logical qubits encoded using qLDPC codes. Our approach, based on parallelized code surgery, supports the injection from either physical qubits or low-distance logical qubits. For qLDPC code families with asymptotically constant encoding rates, the method achieves injection into $Θ(k)$ logical qubits -- where $k$ denotes the logical qubit number of the code -- with only constant qubit overhead and a time complexity of $\tilde{O}(d^2)$, where $d$ is the code distance. A central contribution of this work is a rigorous proof that errors affecting the injected magic states remain independent throughout the procedure. This independence ensures the resilience of logical qubits against interactions with noisy ancillae and preserves the presumption of subsequent magic state distillation protocols. We further support our theoretical results with numerical validation through circuit-level simulations. These findings advance the feasibility of scalable, fault-tolerant universal quantum computing using qLDPC codes, offering a pathway to significantly reduced qubit resource requirements in magic state injection.

PADriver: Towards Personalized Autonomous Driving

In this paper, we propose PADriver, a novel closed-loop framework for personalized autonomous driving (PAD). Built upon Multi-modal Large Language Model (MLLM), PADriver takes streaming frames and personalized textual prompts as inputs. It autoaggressively performs scene understanding, danger level estimation and action decision. The predicted danger level reflects the risk of the potential action and provides an explicit reference for the final action, which corresponds to the preset personalized prompt. Moreover, we construct a closed-loop benchmark named PAD-Highway based on Highway-Env simulator to comprehensively evaluate the decision performance under traffic rules. The dataset contains 250 hours videos with high-quality annotation to facilitate the development of PAD behavior analysis. Experimental results on the constructed benchmark show that PADriver outperforms state-of-the-art approaches on different evaluation metrics, and enables various driving modes.

LogDB: Multivariate Log-based Failure Diagnosis for Distributed Databases (Extended from MultiLog)

Distributed databases, as the core infrastructure software for internet applications, play a critical role in modern cloud services. However, existing distributed databases frequently experience system failures and performance degradation, often leading to significant economic losses. Log data, naturally generated within systems, can effectively reflect internal system states. In practice, operators often manually inspect logs to monitor system behavior and diagnose anomalies, a process that is labor-intensive and costly. Although various log-based failure diagnosis methods have been proposed, they are generally not tailored for database systems and fail to fully exploit the internal characteristics and distributed nature of these systems. To address this gap, we propose LogDB, a log-based failure diagnosis method specifically designed for distributed databases. LogDB extracts and compresses log features at each database node and then aggregates these features at the master node to diagnose cluster-wide anomalies. Experiments conducted on the open-source distributed database system Apache IoTDB demonstrate that LogDB achieves robust failure diagnosis performance across different workloads and a variety of anomaly types.

Metallicity Distribution in M31 and M33 Based on the Tip-RGB Near-infrared Color

This study investigates the metallicity distribution in M31 and M33 by using the near-infrared color index $J-K$ of tip-red-giant-branch (TRGB) of the member stars from \cite{2021ApJ...907...18R} after removing the foreground dwarf stars by the near-infrared $J-H/H-K$ diagram as well as the Gaia astrometric measurements. We employ the Voronoi binning technique to divide the galaxy into sub-regions, the PN method to determine the TRGB position in the $J-K$/$K$ diagram, and the bootstrap method to estimate the uncertainties. The TRGB positions are calculated to be $J-K = 1.195 \pm 0.002$ and $1.100 \pm 0.003$, and $K = 17.615 \pm 0.007$ and $18.185 \pm 0.053$ for M31 and M33 respectively as an entity, consistent with previous results. The $J-K$ gradient of M31 is found to be $-$0.0055 kpc$^{-1}$ at $R_{\rm GC}=(0, 24)$ kpc and $-$0.0002 kpc$^{-1}$ at $R_{\rm GC}=(24, 150)$ kpc. Notably, two dust rings are evident at 11.5 kpc and 14.5 kpc, in agreement with previous studies. The $J-K$ of M33 is analyzed in four directions and generally shows a trend of gradually decreasing from the inside to the outside, however, it shows an increasing trend of 0.022 kpc$^{-1}$ in the inner 0$-$2 kpc in the west. Through the color$-$metallicity relation of TRGB, the metallicity gradient of M31 turns to be $-0.040 \pm 0.0012$ dex kpc$^{-1}$ with $R_{\rm GC}<30$ kpc and $-0.001 \pm 0.0002$ dex kpc$^{-1}$ with $R_{\rm GC}>30$ kpc, and for M33, $-$0.269 $\pm$ 0.0206 dex kpc$^{-1}$ with $R_{\rm GC}<9$ kpc.

ManipDreamer: Boosting Robotic Manipulation World Model with Action Tree and Visual Guidance

While recent advancements in robotic manipulation video synthesis have shown promise, significant challenges persist in ensuring effective instruction-following and achieving high visual quality. Recent methods, like RoboDreamer, utilize linguistic decomposition to divide instructions into separate lower-level primitives, conditioning the world model on these primitives to achieve compositional instruction-following. However, these separate primitives do not consider the relationships that exist between them. Furthermore, recent methods neglect valuable visual guidance, including depth and semantic guidance, both crucial for enhancing visual quality. This paper introduces ManipDreamer, an advanced world model based on the action tree and visual guidance. To better learn the relationships between instruction primitives, we represent the instruction as the action tree and assign embeddings to tree nodes, each instruction can acquire its embeddings by navigating through the action tree. The instruction embeddings can be used to guide the world model. To enhance visual quality, we combine depth and semantic guidance by introducing a visual guidance adapter compatible with the world model. This visual adapter enhances both the temporal and physical consistency of video generation. Based on the action tree and visual guidance, ManipDreamer significantly boosts the instruction-following ability and visual quality. Comprehensive evaluations on robotic manipulation benchmarks reveal that ManipDreamer achieves large improvements in video quality metrics in both seen and unseen tasks, with PSNR improved from 19.55 to 21.05, SSIM improved from 0.7474 to 0.7982 and reduced Flow Error from 3.506 to 3.201 in unseen tasks, compared to the recent RoboDreamer model. Additionally, our method increases the success rate of robotic manipulation tasks by 2.5% in 6 RLbench tasks on average.

Equivalence between Superharmonic functions and renormalized solutions for the equations with $(p, q)$-growth

We establish the equivalence between superharmonic functions and locally renormalized solutions for the elliptic measure data problems with $(p, q)$-growth. By showing that locally renormalized solutions are essentially bounded below and using Wolff potential estimates, we extend the results of [T. Kilpeläinen, T. Kuusi, A. Tuhola-Kujanpää, Superharmonic functions are locally renormalized solutions, Ann. Inst. H. Poincaré C Anal. Non Linéaire, 2011] to a broader class of problems. Our work provides the first equivalence result between locally renormalized solutions and superharmonic functions for the nonstandard growth equations.

LoR-VP: Low-Rank Visual Prompting for Efficient Vision Model Adaptation

Visual prompting has gained popularity as a method for adapting pre-trained models to specific tasks, particularly in the realm of parameter-efficient tuning. However, existing visual prompting techniques often pad the prompt parameters around the image, limiting the interaction between the visual prompts and the original image to a small set of patches while neglecting the inductive bias present in shared information across different patches. In this study, we conduct a thorough preliminary investigation to identify and address these limitations. We propose a novel visual prompt design, introducing Low-Rank matrix multiplication for Visual Prompting (LoR-VP), which enables shared and patch-specific information across rows and columns of image pixels. Extensive experiments across seven network architectures and four datasets demonstrate significant improvements in both performance and efficiency compared to state-of-the-art visual prompting methods, achieving up to 6 times faster training times, utilizing 18 times fewer visual prompt parameters, and delivering a 3.1% improvement in performance. The code is available as https://github.com/jincan333/LoR-VP.

AgentFM: Role-Aware Failure Management for Distributed Databases with LLM-Driven Multi-Agents

Distributed databases are critical infrastructures for today's large-scale software systems, making effective failure management essential to ensure software availability. However, existing approaches often overlook the role distinctions within distributed databases and rely on small-scale models with limited generalization capabilities. In this paper, we conduct a preliminary empirical study to emphasize the unique significance of different roles. Building on this insight, we propose AgentFM, a role-aware failure management framework for distributed databases powered by LLM-driven multi-agents. AgentFM addresses failure management by considering system roles, data roles, and task roles, with a meta-agent orchestrating these components. Preliminary evaluations using Apache IoTDB demonstrate the effectiveness of AgentFM and open new directions for further research.

HEROS: Hierarchical Exploration with Online Subregion Updating for 3D Environment Coverage

We present an autonomous exploration system for efficient coverage of unknown environments. First, a rapid environment preprocessing method is introduced to provide environmental information for subsequent exploration planning. Then, the whole exploration space is divided into multiple subregion cells, each with varying levels of detail. The subregion cells are capable of decomposition and updating online, effectively characterizing dynamic unknown regions with variable resolution. Finally, the hierarchical planning strategy treats subregions as basic planning units and computes an efficient global coverage path. Guided by the global path, the local path that sequentially visits the viewpoint set is refined to provide an executable path for the robot. This hierarchical planning from coarse to fine steps reduces the complexity of the planning scheme while improving exploration efficiency. The proposed method is compared with state-of-art methods in benchmark environments. Our approach demonstrates superior efficiency in completing exploration while using lower computational resources.

Unveiling Spatiotemporal Properties of the Quasi-periodic Pulsations in the Balmer Continuum at 3600 Å in an X-class Solar White-light Flare

Quasi-periodic pulsations (QPPs) in the Balmer continuum of solar white-light flares (WLFs) are rarely reported, and accurately pinpointing the spatial source of flaring QPPs remains a significant challenge. We present spatiotemporal characteristics of QPPs of an X2.8 two-ribbon solar WLF (SOL2023-12-14T17:02), which was well observed by the White-light Solar Telescope (WST) aboard the Advanced Space-based Solar Observatory, with high-cadence imaging (1--2 s) in the Balmer continuum at 3600 Å. Combined with additional multi-instrument data, we find that the enhancement of the WLF in both Balmer and Paschen continua shows strong spatiotemporal correlation with hard X-ray (HXR) emissions. Notably, the pulses in the WST Balmer continuum exhibited a near-zero time lag with most HXR pulses, whereas soft X-ray and extreme ultraviolet emissions showed a lag of 2--3 s. Interestingly, quasi-harmonic QPPs with periods of $\sim$11 s and $\sim$20 s were observed in multiple wavelengths in the rising phase of the white-light continuum. Furthermore, we employed Fourier transform to spatially locate the QPPs around 11 and 20 s, revealing that they primarily originated from the east flare ribbon, which exhibited the most substantial continuum enhancement. More interestingly, we find that the west ribbon contributed significantly to the 11-second QPP but had a weaker contribution to the 20-second QPP. Moreover, the occurrence of quasi-harmonic QPPs is temporally coincident with the rapid elongation and separation motions of flare ribbons. Possible mechanisms for the quasi-harmonic QPPs have been discussed. These observations provide valuable insights into QPP modeling for solar and stellar flares.

Cat-Eye Inspired Active-Passive-Composite Aperture-Shared Sub-Terahertz Meta-Imager for Non-Interactive Concealed Object Detection

Within the feline eye, a distinctive tapetum lucidum as a mirror resides posterior to the retina, reflecting the incident rays to simulate light source emission. This secondary emission property enables felines to be highly sensitive to light, possessing remarkable visual capabilities even in dark settings. Drawing inspiration from this natural phenomenon, we propose an active-passive-composite sub-terahertz meta-imager integrated with a bifocus metasurface, a high-sensitivity radiometer, and a low-power signal hidden radiation source. Benefiting from its aperture-shared advantage, this advanced fusion imaging system, enabled to be deployed by a simplified portable hardware platform, allows for the concurrent acquisition of active and passive electromagnetic properties to extend the target detection category and realize multi-mode fusion perception. Notably, it also enables the extraction of radiation and reflection characteristics without additional calibration modules. Experiments demonstrate the multi-target fusion imaging and localized information decoupling with the tailored field of view and emission energy. This compact and multi-mode fusion imaging system may have plenty of potential for airplane navigation positioning, abnormal monitoring, and non-interactive concealed security checks.

AI Delivers Creative Output but Struggles with Thinking Processes

A key objective in artificial intelligence (AI) development is to create systems that match or surpass human creativity. Although current AI models perform well across diverse creative tasks, it remains unclear whether these achievements reflect genuine creative thinking. This study examined whether AI models (GPT-3.5-turbo, GPT-4, and GPT-4o) engage in creative thinking by comparing their performance with humans across various creative tasks and core cognitive processes. Results showed that AI models outperformed humans in divergent thinking, convergent thinking, and insight problem-solving, but underperformed in creative writing. Compared to humans, AI generated lower forward flow values in both free and chain association tasks and showed lower accuracy in the representational change task. In creative evaluation, AI exhibited no significant correlation between the weights of novelty and appropriateness when predicting creative ratings, suggesting the absence of a human-like trade-off strategy. AI also had higher decision error scores in creative selection, suggesting difficulty identifying the most creative ideas. These findings suggest that while AI can mimic human creativity, its strong performance in creative tasks is likely driven by non-creative mechanisms rather than genuine creative thinking.
