Hypergraph Learning for Identification of COVID-19 with CT Imaging

The coronavirus disease, named COVID-19, has become the largest global public health crisis since it started in early 2020. CT imaging has been used as a complementary tool to assist early screening, especially for the rapid identification of COVID-19 cases from community acquired pneumonia (CAP) cases. The main challenge in early screening is how to model the confusing cases in the COVID-19 and CAP groups, with very similar clinical manifestations and imaging features. To tackle this challenge, we propose an Uncertainty Vertex-weighted Hypergraph Learning (UVHL) method to identify COVID-19 from CAP using CT images. In particular, multiple types of features (including regional features and radiomics features) are first extracted from CT image for each case. Then, the relationship among different cases is formulated by a hypergraph structure, with each case represented as a vertex in the hypergraph. The uncertainty of each vertex is further computed with an uncertainty score measurement and used as a weight in the hypergraph. Finally, a learning process of the vertex-weighted hypergraph is used to predict whether a new testing case belongs to COVID-19 or not. Experiments on a large multi-center pneumonia dataset, consisting of 2,148 COVID-19 cases and 1,182 CAP cases from five hospitals, are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. Results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of our proposed method on the identification of COVID-19 in comparison to state-of-the-art methods.

Power-law cosmological solution derived from DGP brane with a brane tachyon field

By studying a tachyon field on the DGP brane model, in order to embed the 4D standard Friedmann equation with a brane tachyon field in 5D bulk, the metric of the 5D spacetime is presented. Then, adopting the inverse square potential of tachyon field, we obtain an expanding universe with power-law on the brane and an exact 5D solution.

Reconstructing the Equation of State for Dark Energy In the Double Complex Symmetric Gravitational Theory

We propose to study the accelerating expansion of the universe in the double complex symmetric gravitational theory (DCSGT). The universe we live in is taken as the real part of the whole spacetime ${\cal M}^4_C(J)$ which is double complex. By introducing the spatially flat FRW metric, not only the double Friedmann Equations but also the two constraint conditions $p_J=0$ and $J^2=1$ are obtained. Furthermore, using parametric $D_L(z)$ ansatz, we reconstruct the $ω^{'}(z)$ and $V(ϕ)$ for dark energy from real observational data. We find that in the two cases of $J=i,p_J=0$ and $J=ε,p_J\neq 0$, the corresponding equations of state $ω^{'}(z)$ remain close to -1 at present ($z=0$) and change from below -1 to above -1. The results illustrate that the whole spacetime, i.e. the double complex spacetime ${\cal M}^4_C(J)$, may be either ordinary complex ($J=i,p_J=0$) or hyperbolic complex ($J=ε,p_J\neq 0$). And the fate of the universe would be Big Rip in the future.

Statefinder Parameters for Tachyon Dark Energy Model

In this paper we study the statefinder parameters for the tachyon dark energy model. There are two kinds of stable attractor solutions in this model. The statefinder diagrams characterize the properties of the tachyon dark energy model. Our results show that the evolving trajectories of the attractor solutions lie in the total region and pass through the LCDM fixed point, which is different from other dark energy model.

The Phase Transition of Dark Energy

Considering that the universe is filled with the nonrelativistic matter and dark energy and each component is respectively satisfied with its conservation condition in the absence of their interaction, we give the change rate of the fractional density and the density of dark energy from the conservation condition. It is clear that the fractional density of dark energy will monotonously increase and gradually become the dominating contribution to the universe as the redshift becomes low. Combining the evolutional trend of the state equation of dark energy and the change rate of the density of dark energy we find that the density of dark energy will decrease up to a minimum and whereafter it will increase again as the redshift becomes low. This can be regarded as the phase transition of dark energy from the quintessence phase to the phantom phase.

Proper Matter Collineations of Plane Symmetric Spacetimes

We investigate matter collineations of plane symmetric spacetimes when the energy-momentum tensor is degenerate. There exists three interesting cases where the group of matter collineations is finite-dimensional. The matter collineations in these cases are either four, six or ten in which four are isometries and the rest are proper.

The Complex Symmetry Gravitational Theory as a New Alternative of Dark Energy

We propose that complex symmetry gravitational theory (CSGT) explain the accelerating expansion of universe. In this paper universe is taken as the double complex symmetric space. Cosmological solution is obtained within CSGT. The conditions of the accelerating expansion of universe are discussed within CSGT. Moreover, the range of equation of state of matter $ω_ε$ is given in the hyperbolic imaginary space.

The Unified Equation of State for Dark Matter and Dark Energy

We assume that dark matter and dark energy satisfy the unified equation of state: $p=B(z)ρ$, with $p=p_{dE}$, $ρ=ρ_{dm}+ρ_{dE}$, where the pressure of dark matter $p_{dm}=0$ has been taken into account. A special function $B=-\frac{A}{(1+z)^α}$ is presented, which can well describe the evolution of the universe. In this model, the universe will end up with a Big Rip. By further simple analysis, we know other choices of the function $B$ can also describe the universe but lead to a different doomsday.
