Bell states and entanglement of two-dimensional polar molecules in electric fields

Entanglement generated from polar molecules of two-dimensional rotation is investigated in a static electric field. The electric field modulates the rotational properties of molecules, leading to distinctive entanglement. The concurrence is used to estimate the degree of entanglement. When the electric field is applied parallel or perpendicular to the intermolecular direction, the concurrences reveal two overlapping features. Such a pronounced signature corresponds to the coexistence of all Bell-like states. The characteristics of Bell-like states and overlapping concurrences are kept independent of the modulation of dipole-field and dipole-dipole interactions. On the contrary, the Bell-like states fail to coexist in other field directions, reflecting nonoverlapping concurrences. Furthermore, the thermal effect on the entanglement is analyzed for the Bell-like states. Dissimilar suppressed concurrences occur due to different energy structures for the two specific field directions.

Detecting non-Markovian plasmonic band gaps in quantum dots using electron transport

Placing a quantum dot close to a metal nanowire leads to drastic changes in its radiative decay behavior because of evanescent couplings to surface plasmons. We show how two non-Markovian effects, band-edge and retardation, could be observed in such a system. Combined with a quantum dot p-i-n junction, these effects could be readout via current-noise measurements. We also discuss how these effects can occur in similar systems with restricted geometries, like phononic cavities and photonic crystal waveguides. This work links two previously separate topics: surface-plasmons and current-noise measurements.

Orientations of two coupled molecules

Orientation states of two coupled polar molecules controlled by laser pulses are studied theoretically. By varying the period of a series of periodically applied laser pulse, transition from regular to chaotic behavior may occur. Schmidt decomposition is used to measure the degree of entanglement. It is found that the entanglement can be enhanced by increasing the strength of laser pulse.
