Sample Is Feature: Beyond Item-Level, Toward Sample-Level Tokens for Unified Large Recommender Models

Scaling industrial recommender models has followed two parallel paradigms: \textbf{sample information scaling} -- enriching the information content of each training sample through deeper and longer behavior sequences -- and \textbf{model capacity scaling} -- unifying sequence modeling and feature interaction within a single Transformer backbone. However, these two paradigms still face two structural limitations. Firstly, sample information scaling methods encode only a subset of each historical interaction into the sequence token, leaving the majority of the original sample context unexploited and precluding the modeling of sample-level, time-varying features. Secondly, model capacity scaling methods are inherently constrained by the structural heterogeneity between sequential and non-sequential features, preventing the model from fully realizing its representational capacity. To address these issues, we propose \textbf{SIF} (\emph{Sample Is Feature}), which encodes each historical Raw Sample directly into the sequence token -- maximally preserving sample information while simultaneously resolving the heterogeneity between sequential and non-sequential features. SIF consists of two key components. The \textbf{Sample Tokenizer} quantizes each historical Raw Sample into a Token Sample via hierarchical group-adaptive quantization (HGAQ), enabling full sample-level context to be incorporated into the sequence efficiently. The \textbf{SIF-Mixer} then performs deep feature interaction over the homogeneous sample representations via token-level and sample-level mixing, fully unleashing the model's representational capacity. Extensive experiments on a large-scale industrial dataset validate SIF's effectiveness, and we have successfully deployed SIF on an industrial food delivery platform.

Not Only NTP: Extending Training Signal Coverage for Generative Recommendation

Next-Token Prediction (NTP) carries two structural training signal limitations. First, NTP optimizes for single-step prediction only, placing no supervised pressure on learning longer-range behavioral structure -- we term this \textbf{temporal locality}. Second, in multi-domain sequences, each target item embedding receives gradient updates exclusively from the immediately preceding hidden state, with no explicit gradient pathway from cross-domain context -- we term this \textbf{spatial locality}. We propose \textbf{NONTP}, extending NTP's signal coverage along both dimensions through two auxiliary objectives. \textbf{TCL (Temporal Contrastive Learning)} uses a BYOL-style EMA teacher with InfoNCE to align hidden states against a $K$-step future trajectory in representation space. \textbf{TDL (Trans-Domain Learning)} mean-pools cross-domain hidden states and predicts through the shared prediction head, opening a second gradient pathway with no additional parameters. Both are discarded at inference: zero overhead. On a four-domain Meituan industrial dataset (full ranking), NONTP achieves HR@10 +34.3\% over NTP and +18.3\% over MBGR. On the public Amazon Movie-Book-CDs benchmark, HR@10 +2.8\% and NDCG@10 +3.7\%. Online A/B tests confirm CTR +1.8\% and GMV +2.1\% (both $p < 0.01$). Ablation studies confirm each component contributes independently, with gradient conflict analyzed as a direction for future work.

Generative Bid Shading in Real-Time Bidding Advertising

Bid shading plays a crucial role in Real-Time Bidding (RTB) by adaptively adjusting the bid to avoid advertisers overspending. Existing mainstream two-stage methods, which first model bid landscapes and then optimize surplus using operations research techniques, are constrained by unimodal assumptions that fail to adapt for non-convex surplus curves and are vulnerable to cascading errors in sequential workflows. Additionally, existing discretization models of continuous values ignore the dependence between discrete intervals, reducing the model's error correction ability, while sample selection bias in bidding scenarios presents further challenges for prediction. To address these issues, this paper introduces Generative Bid Shading (GBS), which comprises two primary components: 1) an end-to-end generative model that utilizes an autoregressive approach to generate shading ratios by stepwise residuals, capturing complex value dependencies without relying on predefined priors; and 2) a reward preference alignment system, which incorporates a channel-aware hierarchical dynamic network (CHNet) as the reward model to extract fine-grained features, along with modules for surplus optimization and exploration utility reward alignment, ultimately optimizing both short-term and long-term surplus using group relative policy optimization (GRPO). Extensive experiments on both offline and online A/B tests validate GBS's effectiveness. Moreover, GBS has been deployed on the Meituan DSP platform, serving billions of bid requests daily.

DOS: Dual-Flow Orthogonal Semantic IDs for Recommendation in Meituan

Semantic IDs serve as a key component in generative recommendation systems. They not only incorporate open-world knowledge from large language models (LLMs) but also compress the semantic space to reduce generation difficulty. However, existing methods suffer from two major limitations: (1) the lack of contextual awareness in generation tasks leads to a gap between the Semantic ID codebook space and the generation space, resulting in suboptimal recommendations; and (2) suboptimal quantization methods exacerbate semantic loss in LLMs. To address these issues, we propose Dual-Flow Orthogonal Semantic IDs (DOS) method. Specifically, DOS employs a user-item dual flow-framework that leverages collaborative signals to align the Semantic ID codebook space with the generation space. Furthermore, we introduce an orthogonal residual quantization scheme that rotates the semantic space to an appropriate orientation, thereby maximizing semantic preservation. Extensive offline experiments and online A/B testing demonstrate the effectiveness of DOS. The proposed method has been successfully deployed in Meituan's mobile application, serving hundreds of millions of users.

Entire Chain Uplift Modeling with Context-Enhanced Learning for Intelligent Marketing

Uplift modeling, vital in online marketing, seeks to accurately measure the impact of various strategies, such as coupons or discounts, on different users by predicting the Individual Treatment Effect (ITE). In an e-commerce setting, user behavior follows a defined sequential chain, including impression, click, and conversion. Marketing strategies exert varied uplift effects at each stage within this chain, impacting metrics like click-through and conversion rate. Despite its utility, existing research has neglected to consider the inter-task across all stages impacts within a specific treatment and has insufficiently utilized the treatment information, potentially introducing substantial bias into subsequent marketing decisions. We identify these two issues as the chain-bias problem and the treatment-unadaptive problem. This paper introduces the Entire Chain UPlift method with context-enhanced learning (ECUP), devised to tackle these issues. ECUP consists of two primary components: 1) the Entire Chain-Enhanced Network, which utilizes user behavior patterns to estimate ITE throughout the entire chain space, models the various impacts of treatments on each task, and integrates task prior information to enhance context awareness across all stages, capturing the impact of treatment on different tasks, and 2) the Treatment-Enhanced Network, which facilitates fine-grained treatment modeling through bit-level feature interactions, thereby enabling adaptive feature adjustment. Extensive experiments on public and industrial datasets validate ECUPs effectiveness. Moreover, ECUP has been deployed on the Meituan food delivery platform, serving millions of daily active users, with the related dataset released for future research.

You Only Evaluate Once: A Tree-based Rerank Method at Meituan

Reranking plays a crucial role in modern recommender systems by capturing the mutual influences within the list. Due to the inherent challenges of combinatorial search spaces, most methods adopt a two-stage search paradigm: a simple General Search Unit (GSU) efficiently reduces the candidate space, and an Exact Search Unit (ESU) effectively selects the optimal sequence. These methods essentially involve making trade-offs between effectiveness and efficiency, while suffering from a severe \textbf{inconsistency problem}, that is, the GSU often misses high-value lists from ESU. To address this problem, we propose YOLOR, a one-stage reranking method that removes the GSU while retaining only the ESU. Specifically, YOLOR includes: (1) a Tree-based Context Extraction Module (TCEM) that hierarchically aggregates multi-scale contextual features to achieve "list-level effectiveness", and (2) a Context Cache Module (CCM) that enables efficient feature reuse across candidate permutations to achieve "permutation-level efficiency". Extensive experiments across public and industry datasets validate YOLOR's performance, and we have successfully deployed YOLOR on the Meituan food delivery platform.

Graph with Sequence: Broad-Range Semantic Modeling for Fake News Detection

The rapid proliferation of fake news on social media threatens social stability, creating an urgent demand for more effective detection methods. While many promising approaches have emerged, most rely on content analysis with limited semantic depth, leading to suboptimal comprehension of news content. To address this limitation, capturing broader-range semantics is essential yet challenging, as it introduces two primary types of noise: fully connecting sentences in news graphs often adds unnecessary structural noise, while highly similar but authenticity-irrelevant sentences introduce feature noise, complicating the detection process. To tackle these issues, we propose BREAK, a broad-range semantics model for fake news detection that leverages a fully connected graph to capture comprehensive semantics while employing dual denoising modules to minimize both structural and feature noise. The semantic structure denoising module balances the graph's connectivity by iteratively refining it between two bounds: a sequence-based structure as a lower bound and a fully connected graph as the upper bound. This refinement uncovers label-relevant semantic interrelations structures. Meanwhile, the semantic feature denoising module reduces noise from similar semantics by diversifying representations, aligning distinct outputs from the denoised graph and sequence encoders using KL-divergence to achieve feature diversification in high-dimensional space. The two modules are jointly optimized in a bi-level framework, enhancing the integration of denoised semantics into a comprehensive representation for detection. Extensive experiments across four datasets demonstrate that BREAK significantly outperforms existing fake news detection methods.

Emulating Reader Behaviors for Fake News Detection

The wide dissemination of fake news has affected our lives in many aspects, making fake news detection important and attracting increasing attention. Existing approaches make substantial contributions in this field by modeling news from a single-modal or multi-modal perspective. However, these modal-based methods can result in sub-optimal outcomes as they ignore reader behaviors in news consumption and authenticity verification. For instance, they haven't taken into consideration the component-by-component reading process: from the headline, images, comments, to the body, which is essential for modeling news with more granularity. To this end, we propose an approach of Emulating the behaviors of readers (Ember) for fake news detection on social media, incorporating readers' reading and verificating process to model news from the component perspective thoroughly. Specifically, we first construct intra-component feature extractors to emulate the behaviors of semantic analyzing on each component. Then, we design a module that comprises inter-component feature extractors and a sequence-based aggregator. This module mimics the process of verifying the correlation between components and the overall reading and verification sequence. Thus, Ember can handle the news with various components by emulating corresponding sequences. We conduct extensive experiments on nine real-world datasets, and the results demonstrate the superiority of Ember.
