Generation-Augmented Generation: A Plug-and-Play Framework for Private Knowledge Injection in Large Language Models

In domains such as materials science, biomedicine, and finance, high-stakes deployment of large language models (LLMs) requires injecting private, domain-specific knowledge that is proprietary, fast-evolving, and under-represented in public pretraining. However, the two dominant paradigms for private knowledge injection each have clear drawbacks: fine-tuning is expensive to iterate under continual updates that can induce catastrophic forgetting and general-capability regression; retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) keeps the base model intact but remains brittle in specialized private corpora due to chunk-induced evidence fragmentation, retrieval mismatch, and long-context pressure. Inspired by how multimodal LLMs align heterogeneous modalities into a shared semantic space, we propose Generation-Augmented Generation (GAG), which treats private expertise as an auxiliary modality and injects it into a frozen base model through a compact, constant-budget latent interface. Concretely, GAG distills question-conditioned specialist knowledge from lightweight domain experts into multi-slot latent memories, integrates multi-layer expert signals via per-slot cross-layer fusion, and aligns them to the frozen base model through gated residual projection, while supporting scalable mixed-domain deployment with reliable selective activation. In a unified mixed-domain evaluation spanning two scientific private-domain QA benchmarks (catalytic materials and immunology adjuvant) together with general-domain queries, GAG consistently outperforms strong retrieval-based and parameter-efficient fine-tuning baselines on specialist QA, while preserving general-domain capability, achieving highly reliable routing, and offering a favorable efficiency--effectiveness trade-off. Code and datasets are provided in the supplementary material. Code is publicly available at https://github.com/360CVGroup/GAG.

VET: A Visual-Electronic Tactile System for Immersive Human-Machine Interaction

In the pursuit of deeper immersion in human-machine interaction, achieving higher-dimensional tactile input and output on a single interface has become a key research focus. This study introduces the Visual-Electronic Tactile (VET) System, which builds upon vision-based tactile sensors (VBTS) and integrates electrical stimulation feedback to enable bidirectional tactile communication. We propose and implement a system framework that seamlessly integrates an electrical stimulation film with VBTS using a screen-printing preparation process, eliminating interference from traditional methods. While VBTS captures multi-dimensional input through visuotactile signals, electrical stimulation feedback directly stimulates neural pathways, preventing interference with visuotactile information. The potential of the VET system is demonstrated through experiments on finger electrical stimulation sensitivity zones, as well as applications in interactive gaming and robotic arm teleoperation. This system paves the way for new advancements in bidirectional tactile interaction and its broader applications.

Evolutionary Neural Architecture Search for 3D Point Cloud Analysis

Neural architecture search (NAS) automates neural network design by using optimization algorithms to navigate architecture spaces, reducing the burden of manual architecture design. While NAS has achieved success, applying it to emerging domains, such as analyzing unstructured 3D point clouds, remains underexplored due to the data lying in non-Euclidean spaces, unlike images. This paper presents Success-History-based Self-adaptive Differential Evolution with a Joint Point Interaction Dimension Search (SHSADE-PIDS), an evolutionary NAS framework that encodes discrete deep neural network architectures to continuous spaces and performs searches in the continuous spaces for efficient point cloud neural architectures. Comprehensive experiments on challenging 3D segmentation and classification benchmarks demonstrate SHSADE-PIDS's capabilities. It discovered highly efficient architectures with higher accuracy, significantly advancing prior NAS techniques. For segmentation on SemanticKITTI, SHSADE-PIDS attained 64.51% mean IoU using only 0.55M parameters and 4.5GMACs, reducing overhead by over 22-26X versus other top methods. For ModelNet40 classification, it achieved 93.4% accuracy with just 1.31M parameters, surpassing larger models. SHSADE-PIDS provided valuable insights into bridging evolutionary algorithms with neural architecture optimization, particularly for emerging frontiers like point cloud learning.

Meta-heuristic Optimizer Inspired by the Philosophy of Yi Jing

Drawing inspiration from the philosophy of Yi Jing, the Yin-Yang pair optimization (YYPO) algorithm has been shown to achieve competitive performance in single objective optimizations, in addition to the advantage of low time complexity when compared to other population-based meta-heuristics. Building upon a reversal concept in Yi Jing, we propose the novel Yi optimization (YI) algorithm. Specifically, we enhance the Yin-Yang pair in YYPO with a proposed Yi-point, in which we use Cauchy flight to update the solution, by implementing both the harmony and reversal concept of Yi Jing. The proposed Yi-point balances both the effort of exploration and exploitation in the optimization process. To examine YI, we use the IEEE CEC 2017 benchmarks and compare YI against the dynamical YYPO, CV1.0 optimizer, and four classical optimizers, i.e., the differential evolution, the genetic algorithm, the particle swarm optimization, and the simulated annealing. According to the experimental results, YI shows highly competitive performance while keeping the low time complexity. The results of this work have implications for enhancing a meta-heuristic optimizer using the philosophy of Yi Jing. While this work implements only certain aspects of Yi Jing, we envisage enhanced performance by incorporating other aspects.

Suppression of FM-to-AM conversion in third-harmonic generation by tuning the ratio of modulation depth

Issues of Frequency-to-Amplitude modulation (FM-to-AM) conversion occurred in phase-modulated third-harmonic generation (THG) process are investigated. An expression about group-velocity is theoretically derived to suppress the FM-to-AM conversion, which appears to be dependant on the ratio of modulation depth of fundamental to second-harmonic when given the same modulation frequencies of them. Simulation results indicate that the induced AM in THG process can be suppressed effectively when the expression about group-velocity is satisfied.

Suppression of FM-to-AM conversion in third-harmonic generation at the retracing point of a crystal

FM-to-AM conversion can cause many negative effects (e.g., reducing of margin against damage to the optics, and etc.) on performances of third-harmonic conversion system. In this letter, the FM-to-AM conversion effect in third-harmonic generation is investigated both at and away from the retracing point of type-II KDP crystal. Obtained results indicate that the FM-to-AM conversion can be suppressed effectively when the crystal works at the retracing point.
