Ultra-Low Insertion Loss Stepped Impedance Resonator Topology for HTSC RF Front-End

We present the design, fabrication, and measurement of a high-temperature superconductor (HTSC) Stepped Impedance Resonator (SIR) band-pass filter for S-band applications, and its incorporation into a cryogenic receiver cascade. The 11-pole filter, implemented in YBa2Cu3O(7-x) (YBCO) thin films on sapphire, exhibits an ultra-low insertion loss (IL) of -0.1~dB, a sharp roll-off of 100~MHz, and a rejection level exceeding --80~dB. These measured results represent, to the best of our knowledge, the lowest reported IL for an S-band filter with this number of poles. When integrated with a cryogenic low-noise amplifier (LNA), system-level simulations and measurements predict a receiver noise figure (NF) of 0.34~dB at 3.39~GHz, enabling a 20% increase in radar detection range compared with conventional copper-based front ends. This work demonstrates the feasibility of practical HTSC-based RF front-ends for next-generation communication and radar systems.

Decoherence Estimation of Superconducting Qubit

Decoherence of quantum bits arises primarily from the parasitic resistance within the qubit. This study presents the analysis of the decoherence process due to physical interactions between the qubit photons and parasitic resistance atoms, utilizing exclusively the Caldeira-Leggett electrical model, without relying on external Hamiltonians. The analysis shows a good agreement between the model of the electrical noise and the Johnson-Nyquist noise. The emission and absorption rates of the qubit's coherent loss, required for the Lindblad master equation that approximates the decoherence, are obtained. A numerical substitution in the analysis result yields a strong correlation with previous measurements. The present analysis enables also the derivation of the appropriate circuit characteristics for future simulations.

Even-Balanced States Excitation in Two-Qubits System

An essential step in building a quantum computer system is combining two qubits. Previous theoretical analyses of this element have been based primarily on the short schematic matrix approaches. In the present work we extend the investigation to the combination of two qubits by implementing the Dirac picture method as a theoretical framework. We conduct simulations, using parameters of grAl qubits, to demonstrate the feasibility of driving two qubits into an even-balanced quantum state. The research highlights the effectiveness of the Dirac picture method in achieving the desired state, enabling improved control of entangled states and advanced quantum computing research. The simulation results and the theoretical calculations agree within of 0.2%, and the two examples at section IV, show a good agreement to the level of 6% error from the even balanced state
