Weighted estimates for the bilinear maximal operator on filtered measure spaces

Assuming the bilinear reverse Holder's condition, we character weighted inequalities for the bilinear maximal operator on filtered measure spaces. We also obtain Hytonen-Perez type weighted estimates for the bilinear maximal operator. Our approaches are mainly based on the new construction of bilinear versions of principal sets and the new Carleson embedding theorem on filtered measure spaces. In particular, we find a new property of the construction and we call it the conditional sparsity of principal sets.

Variable Martingale Hardy Spaces and Their Applications in Fourier Analysis

Let $p(\cdot)$ be a measurable function defined on a probability space satisfying $0 1$. The boundedness of the maximal Fej{é}r operator on $H_{p(\cdot)}$ and $H_{p(\cdot),q}$ is proved whenever $p_->1/2$ and the condition $\frac{1}{p_-}-\frac{1}{p_+} <1$ hold. It is surprising that this last condition does not appear for trigonometric Fourier series. One of the key points of the proof is that we introduce two new dyadic maximal operators and prove their boundedness on $L_{p(\cdot)}$ with $p_->1$. The method we use to prove these results is new even in the classical case. As a consequence, we obtain theorems about almost everywhere and norm convergence of the Fejér means.

Rosenthal's inequalities: $Δ-$norms and quasi-Banach symmetric sequence spaces

Let $X$ be a symmetric quasi-Banach function space with Fatou property and let $E$ be an arbitrary symmetric quasi-Banach sequence space. Suppose that $(f_k)_{k\geq0}\subset X$ is a sequence of independent random variables. We present a necessary and sufficient condition on $X$ such that the quantity $$\Big\|\ \Big\|\sum_{k=0}^nf_ke_k\Big\|_{E}\ \Big\|_X$$ admits an equivalent characterization in terms of disjoint copies of $(f_k)_{k=0}^n$ for every $n\ge 0$; in particular, we obtain the deterministic description of $$\Big\|\ \Big\|\sum _{k=0}^nf_ke_k\Big\|_{\ell_q}\ \Big\|_{L_p}$$ for all $0<p,q<\infty,$ which is the ultimate form of Rosenthal's inequality. We also consider the case of a $Δ$-normed symmetric function space $X$, defined via an Orlicz function $Φ$ satisfying the $Δ_2$-condition. That is, we provide a formula for \lq\lq $E$-valued $Φ$-moments\rq\rq, namely the quantity $\mathbb{E}\big(Φ\big(\big\|(f_k)_{k\geq0} \big\|_E \big)\big)$, in terms of the sum of disjoint copies of $f_k, k\geq0.$

Weighted estimates for positive operators and Doob maximal operators on filtered measure spaces

We characterize strong type and weak type inequalities with two weights for positive operators on filtered measure spaces. These estimates are probabilistic analogues of two-weight inequalities for positive operators associated to the dyadic cubes in $\mathbb R^n$ due to Lacey, Sawyer and Uriarte-Tuero \cite{LaSaUr}. Several mixed bounds for the Doob maximal operator on filtered measure spaces are also obtained. In fact, Hytönen-Pérez type and Lerner-Moen type norm estimates for Doob maximal operator are established. Our approaches are mainly based on the construction of principal sets.

Square functions for noncommutative differentially subordinate martingales

We prove inequalities involving noncommutative differentially subordinate martingales. More precisely, we prove that if $x$ is a self-adjoint noncommutative martingale and $y$ is weakly differentially subordinate to $x$ then $y$ admits a decomposition $dy=a +b +c$ (resp. $dy=z +w$) where $a$, $b$, and $c$ are adapted sequences (resp. $z$ and $w$ are martingale difference sequences) such that: $$ \Big\| (a_n)_{n\geq 1}\Big\|_{L_{1,\infty}({\mathcal M}\overline{\otimes}\ell_\infty)} +\Big\| \Big(\sum_{n\geq 1} \mathcal{E}_{n-1}|b_n|^2 \Big)^{{1}/{2}}\Big\|_{1, \infty} + \Big\| \Big(\sum_{n\geq 1} \mathcal{E}_{n-1}|c_n^*|^2 \Big)^{{1}/{2}}\Big\|_{1, \infty} \leq C\big\| x \big\|_1 $$ (resp. $$ \Big\| \Big(\sum_{n\geq1} |z_n|^2 \Big)^{{1}/{2}}\Big\|_{1, \infty} + \Big\| \Big(\sum_{n\geq 1} |w_n^*|^2 \Big)^{{1}/{2}}\Big\|_{1, \infty} \leq C\big\| x \big\|_1). $$ We also prove strong-type $(p,p)$ versions of the above weak-type results for $1<p<2$. In order to provide more insights into the interactions between noncommutative differential subordinations and martingale Hardy spaces when $1\leq p<2$, we also provide several martingale inequalities with sharp constants which are new and of independent interest. As a byproduct of our approach, we obtain new and constructive proofs of both the noncommutative Burkholder-Gundy inequalities and the noncommutative Burkholder/Rosenthal inequalities for $1<p<2$ with the optimal order of the constants when $p \to 1$.

Noncommutative Good-$λ$ Inequalities

We propose a novel approach in noncommutative probability, which can be regarded as an analogue of good-$λ$ inequalities from the classical case due to Burkholder and Gundy (Acta Math {\bf124}: 249-304,1970). This resolves a longstanding open problem in noncommutative realm. Using this technique, we present new proofs of noncommutative Burkholder-Gundy inequalities, Stein's inequality, Doob's inequality and $L^p$-bounds for martingale transforms; all the constants obtained are of optimal orders. The approach also allows us to investigate the noncommutative analogues of decoupling techniques and, in particular, to obtain new estimates for noncommutative martingales with tangent difference sequences and sums of tangent positive operators. These in turn yield an enhanced version of Doob's maximal inequality for adapted sequences and a sharp estimate for a certain class of Schur multipliers. We also present fully new applications of good-$λ$ approach to noncommutative harmonic analysis, including inequalities for differentially subordinate operators motivated by the classical $L^p$-bound for the Hilbert transform and the estimate for the $j$-th Riesz transform on group von Neumann algebras with constants of optimal orders as $p\to\infty.$

New Martingale Inequalities and Applications to Fourier Analysis

Let $(Ω,\mathcal{F},\mathbb{P})$ be a probability space and $φ:\ Ω\times[0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be a Musielak-Orlicz function. In this article, the authors prove that the Doob maximal operator is bounded on the Musielak-Orlicz space $L^φ(Ω)$. Using this and extrapolation method, the authors then establish a Fefferman-Stein vector-valued Doob maximal inequality on $L^φ(Ω)$. As applications, the authors obtain the dual version of the Doob maximal inequality and the Stein inequality for $L^φ(Ω)$, which are new even in weighted Orlicz spaces. The authors then establish the atomic characterizations of martingale Musielak-Orlicz Hardy spaces $H_φ^s(Ω)$, $P_φ(Ω)$, $Q_φ(Ω)$, $H_φ^S(Ω)$ and $H_φ^M(Ω)$. From these atomic characterizations, the authors further deduce some martingale inequalities between different martingale Musielak-Orlicz Hardy spaces, which essentially improve the corresponding results in Orlicz space case and are also new even in weighted Orlicz spaces. By establishing the Davis decomposition on $H_φ^S(Ω)$ and $H_φ^M(Ω)$, the authors obtain the Burkholder-Davis-Gundy inequality associated with Musielak--Orlicz functions. Finally, using the previous martingale inequalities, the authors prove that the maximal Fejér operator is bounded from $H_φ[0,1)$ to $L^φ[0,1)$, which further implies some convergence results of the Fejér means; these results are new even for the weighted Hardy spaces.

Measure-Valued Generators of General Piecewise Deterministic Markov Processes

We consider a piecewise-deterministic Markov process (PDMP) with general conditional distribution of inter-occurrence time, which is called a general PDMP here. Our purpose is to establish the theory of measure-valued generator for general PDMPs. The additive functional of a semi-dynamic system (SDS) is introduced firstly, which presents us an analytic tool for the whole paper. The additive functionals of a general PDMP are represented in terms of additive functionals of the SDS. The necessary and sufficient conditions of being a local martingale or a special semimartingale for them are given. The measure-valued generator for a general PDMP is introduced, which takes value in the space of additive functionals of the SDS. And its domain is completely described by analytic conditions. The domain is extended to the locally (path-)finite variation functions. As an application of measure-valued generator, we study the expected cumulative discounted value of an additive functional of the general PDMP, and get a measure integro-differential equation satisfied by the expected cumulative discounted value function.

Noncommutative harmonic analysis on semigroups

In this paper we obtain some noncommutative multiplier theorems and maximal inequalities on semigroups. As applications, we obtain the corresponding individual ergodic theorems. Our main results extend some classical results of Stein and Cowling on one hand, and simplify the main arguments of Junge-Le Merdy-Xu's related work [15].

Asymptotic Convertibility of Entanglement: A General Approach to Entanglement Concentration and Dilution

We consider asymptotic convertibility of an arbitrary sequence of bipartite pure states into another by local operations and classical communication (LOCC). We adopt an information-spectrum approach to address cases where each element of the sequences is not necessarily in tensor power of a bipartite pure state. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the LOCC convertibility of one sequence to another in terms of spectral entropy rates of entanglement of the sequences. Based on these results, we also provide simple proofs for previously known results on the optimal rates of entanglement concentration and dilution of general sequences of pure states.

Johnson-Schechtman inequalities for noncommutative martingales

In this paper we study Johnson-Schechtman inequalities for noncommutative martingales. More precisely, disjointification inequalities of noncommutative martingale difference sequences are proved in an arbitrary symmetric operator space $E(\mathcal{M})$ of a finite von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{M}$ without making any assumption on the Boyd indices of $E$. We show that we can obtain Johnson-Schechtman inequalities for arbitrary martingale difference sequences and that, in contrast with the classical case of independent random variables or the noncommutative case of freely independent random variables, the inequalities are one-sided except when $E=L_2(0,1)$. As an application, we partly resolve a problem stated by Randrianantoanina and Wu in \cite{NW}. We also show that we can obtain sharp $Φ$-moment analogues for Orlicz functions satisfying $p$-convexity and $q$-concavity for $1 \leq p \leq 2$, $q=2$ and $p=2$, $2< q < \infty$. This is new even for the classical case. We also extend and strengthen the noncommutative Burkholder-Gundy inequalities in symmetric spaces and in the $Φ$-moment case.

$Φ$-moment inequalities for independent and freely independent random variables

This paper is devoted to the study of $Φ$-moments of sums of independent/freely independent random variables. More precisely, let $(f_k)_{k=1}^n$ be a sequence of positive (symmetrically distributed) independent random variables and let $Φ$ be an Orlicz function with $Δ_2$-condition. We provide an equivalent expression for the quantity $\mathbb{E}(Φ(\sum_{k=1}^n f_k))$ in term of the sum of disjoint copies of the sequence $(f_k)_{k=1}^n.$ We also prove an analogous result in the setting of free probability. Furthermore, we provide an equivalent characterization of $τ(Φ(\sup^+_{1\leq k\leq n}x_k))$ for positive freely independent random variables and also present some new results on free Johnson-Schechtman inequalities in the quasi-Banach symmetric operator space.

Martingale Hardy spaces with variable exponents

In this paper, we introduce Hardy spaces with variable exponents defined on a probability space and develop the martingale theory of variable Hardy spaces. We prove the weak type and strong type inequalities on Doob's maximal operator and get a $(1,p(\cdot),\infty)$-atomic decomposition for Hardy martingale spaces associated with conditional square functions. As applications, we obtain a dual theorem and the John-Nirenberg inequalities in the frame of variable exponents. The key ingredient is that we find a condition with probabilistic characterization of $p(\cdot)$ to replace the so-called log-Hölder continuity condition in $\mathbb {R}^n.$

The predual and John-Nirenberg inequalities on generalized BMO martingale spaces

In this paper we introduce the generalized BMO martingale spaces by stopping time sequences, which enable us to characterize the dual spaces of martingale Hardy-Lorentz spaces $H_{p,q}^s$ for $0<p\leq1, 1<q<\infty$. Moreover, by duality we obtain a John-Nirenberg theorem for the generalized BMO martingale spaces when the stochastic basis is regular. We also extend the boundedness of fractional integrals to martingale Hardy-Lorentz spaces.

Weak Orlicz-Hardy Martingale Spaces

In this paper, several weak Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces associated with concave functions are introduced, and some weak atomic decomposition theorems for them are established. With the help of weak atomic decompositions, a sufficient condition for a sublinear operator defined on the weak Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces to be bounded is given. Further, we investigate the duality of weak Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces and obtain a new John-Nirenberg type inequality when the stochastic basis is regular. These results can be regarded as weak versions of the Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces due to Miyamoto, Nakai and Sadasue.

Noncommutative weak Orlicz spaces and martingale inequalities

This paper is devoted to the study of noncommutative weak Orlicz spaces and martingale inequalities. Marcinkiewicz interpolation theorem is extended to include noncommutative weak Orlicz spaces as interpolation classes. In particular, we prove the weak type $Φ$-moment Burkholder-Gundy inequality for noncommutative martingales through establishing a weak type $Φ$-moment noncommutative Khintchine's inequality for Rademacher's random variables.
