The Entropy Bound for Local Quantum Field Theory

We investigate the entropy bound for local quantum field theory in this paper. Both the bosonic and fermionic fields confined to an asymptotically flat spacetime are examined. By imposing the non-gravitational collapse condition, we find both of them are limited by the same entropy bound $A^{3/4}$, where $A$ is the boundary area of the region where the quantum fields are contained in. The gap between this entropy bound and the holographic entropy has been verified.

Renormalization Group Equations in Gauge Theories with Multiple U(1) Groups

Two-loop renormalization group equations in gauge theories with multiple U(1) groups are presented. Instead of normalizing the abelian gauge fields in canonical forms, we retain kinetic-mixing terms and treat the mixing coefficients as free parameters. The beta- and gamma-functions are then obtained in a straightforward manner.

Two-loop Renormalization Group Equations in the Standard Model

Two-loop renormalization group equations in the standard model are re-calculated. A new coefficient is found in the beta-function of the quartic coupling and a class of gauge invariants are found to be absent in the beta-functions of hadronic Yukawa couplings. The two-loop beta-function of the Higgs mass parameter is presented in complete form.

From Syntactic Theories to Interpreters: A Specification Language and Its Compilation

Recent years have seen an increasing need of high-level specification languages and tools generating code from specifications. In this paper, we introduce a specification language, {\splname}, which is tailored to the writing of syntactic theories of language semantics. More specifically, the language supports specifying primitive notions such as dynamic constraints, contexts, axioms, and inference rules. We also introduce a system which generates interpreters from {\splname} specifications. A prototype system is implemented and has been tested on a number of examples, including a syntactic theory for Verilog.
