Fermion Self-energy and Pseudovector Condensate in NJL Model with External Magnetic Field

In this paper, we aim to study the complete self-energy in the fermion propagator within two-flavor NJL model in the case of finite temperature, chemical potential and external magnetic field. Through Fierz transformation we prove that the self-energy is not simply proportional to dynamical mass in the presence of chemical potential, moreover, it contains four kinds of condensates after introducing external magnetic field. We find out the appropriate and complete form of self-energy and establish new gap equations. We take two of the four condensates (scalar and pseudovector condensates) to make an approximation and simplify the gap equations. The numerical results show that not only the dynamical mass get quantitative modification, but also the properties of Nambu phase and Wigner phase are significantly different with classic results. Instead of classic Wigner phase with zero dynamic mass in the massless NJL model, we propose a new phase - quasi-Wigner phase in this article, it has small but nonzero dynamic mass, with increasing chemical potential, eventually Nambu phase will turn into quasi-Wigner phase with first-order phase transition, therefore the chiral symmetry can never be fully restored but be partially restored. Furthermore, we prove that pseudovector condensate in self-energy can generate energy splitting in dispersion relation, it will cause minor differences of particle numbers with the split energy levels.

Boundness and Linearisation of a class of differential equations with piecewise constant argument

The differential equations with piecewise constant argument (DEPCAs, for short) is a class of hybrid dynamical systems (combining continuous and discrete). In this paper, under the assumption that the nonlinear term is partially unbounded, we study the bounded solution and global topological linearisation of a class of DEPCAs of general type. One of the purpose of this paper is to obtain a new criterion for the existence of a unique bounded solution, which improved the previous results. The other aim of this paper is to establish a generalized Grobman-Hartman-type theorem for the topological conjugacy between a nonlinear perturbation system and its linear system. The method is based on the new obtained criterion for bounded solution. The obtained results generalized and improved some previous papers. Some novel techniques are employed.

Linear Quaternion Differential Equations: Basic Theory and Fundamental Results

Quaternion-valued differential equations (QDEs) is a new kind of differential equations which have many applications in physics and life sciences. The largest difference between QDEs and ODEs is the algebraic structure. On the non-commutativity of the quaternion algebra, the algebraic structure of the solutions to the QDEs is completely different from ODEs. It is actually a left- or right- free module, not a linear vector space. This paper establishes a systematic frame work for the theory of linear QDEs, which can be applied to quantum mechanics, fluid mechanics, Frenet frame in differential geometry, kinematic modelling, attitude dynamics, Kalman filter design and spatial rigid body dynamics, etc. We prove that the algebraic structure of the solutions to the QDEs is actually a left- or right- module, not a linear vector space. On the non-commutativity of the quaternion algebra, many concepts and properties for the ordinary differential equations (ODEs) can not be used. They should be redefined accordingly. A definition of Wronskian is introduced under the framework of quaternions which is different from standard one in the ordinary differential equations. Liouville formula for QDEs is given. Also, it is necessary to treat the eigenvalue problems with left- and right-sides, accordingly. Upon these, we studied the solutions to the linear QDEs. Furthermore, we present two algorithms to evaluate the fundamental matrix. Some concrete examples are given to show the feasibility of the obtained algorithms. Finally, a conclusion and discussion ends the paper.

A new approach for calculating nuclear symmetry energy

By using the functional path integral method, we obtain a model-independent formula for nuclear symmetry energy, which explicitly shows the relation between nuclear symmetry energy and isospin susceptibility. The latter one is found to be a probe to the QCD chiral phase transition. We further found that, the nuclear symmetry energy has an abrupt change at the critical nuclear density where the chiral symmetry restores partially, which could be detected from the experiments.

Dynamical chiral symmetry breaking in the NJL model with a constant external magnetic field

In this paper we develop a new method that is different from Schwinger proper time method to deduce the fermion propagator with a constant external magnetic field. In the NJL model, we use this method to find out the gap equation at zero and non-zero temperature, and give the numerical results and phase diagram between magnetic field and temperature. Beside these, we also introduce current mass to study the susceptibilities, because there is a new parameter (the strength of external magnetic field) in this problem, corresponding this new parameter, we have defined a new susceptibility $χ_B$ to compare with the other two susceptibilities $χ_c$ (chiral susceptibility) and $χ_T$ (thermal susceptibility), and all of the three susceptibilities show than when current mass is not zero, the phase transition is a crossover, while for comparison, in the chiral limit, the susceptibilities show a second order phase transition. At last, we give out the critical coefficients of different susceptibilities in the chiral limit.
