Principle of detailed balance and a dilute gas in gravitational field

We study in this paper a dilute gas in a gravitational field and present a relation of the molecular distribution function with respect to position and velocity. The relation is obtained from the principle of detailed balance and can be used to study temperature distribution and density distribution.

A model violating the Boltzmann distribution

We study a model of an ionic conductor having interstitial ions that jump from site to site. The conductor is subject to an external electric field. According to classical mechanics, the ion number density follows the Boltzmann distribution. But according to quantum mechanics, we show that the Boltzmann distribution is violated by a factor of 2. And the violation provides a mechanism to explain the Haven ratio observed in some experiments.

Entropy and Entropy Production in Some Applications

By using entropy and entropy production, we calculate the steady flux of some phenomena. The method we use is a competition method, $S_S/τ+σ={\it maximum}$, where $S_S$ is system entropy, $σ$ is entropy production and $τ$ is microscopic interaction time. System entropy is calculated from the equilibrium state by studying the flux fluctuations. The phenomena we study include ionic conduction, atomic diffusion, thermal conduction and viscosity of a dilute gas.

Entropy and Ionic Conductivity

It is known that the ionic conductivity can be obtained by using the diffusion constant and the Einstein relation. We derive it here by extracting it from the steady electric current which we calculate in three ways, using statistics analysis, an entropy method, and an entropy production approach.

Entropy Production and Viscosity of A Dilute Gas

It is known that the viscosity of a dilute gas can be derived by using kinetic theory. We present here a new derivation by using two entropy production principles: the steepest entropy ascent (SEA) principle and the maximum entropy production (MEP) principle. The known result is reproduced in a similar form.

Proton Sea Quark Flavour Asymmetry and Roper Resonance

We study the proton and the Roper resonance together with the meson cloud model, by constructing a Hamiltonian matrix and solving the eigenvalue equation. The proton sea quark flavour asymmetry and some properties of the Roper resonance are thus reproduced in one scheme.

Entropy Production and Thermal Conductivity of A Dilute Gas

It is known that the thermal conductivity of a dilute gas can be derived by using kinetic theory. We present here a new derivation by starting with two known entropy production principles: the steepest entropy ascent (SEA) principle and the maximum entropy production (MEP) principle. A remarkable feature of the new derivation is that it does not require the specification of the existence of the temperature gradient. The known result is reproduced in a similar form.

Sea Quark Flavor Asymmetry of Hadrons in Statistical Balance Model

We derive a Menta Carlo method to simulate kinetic equilibrium ensemble, and get the same sea-quark flavor asymmetry as the linear equations method in statistical model. In the recent paper, we introduce the spilt factors to indicate the quarks' or gluons' spilt $g\rightarrow q\bar{q}(gg)$ and $q\rightarrow qg$ ability. We obtain the almost fixed asymmetry value $0.12-0.16$ which consists with experimental measurements for proton, when the spilt factors vary in a very wide range over four orders of magnitude. So, we proof the sea quark asymmetry can be derived from statistic principle and not sensitively dependents on the dynamics details of quarks and gluons in proton. We also apply the Menta Carlo method of statistical model to predict the sea-quark asymmetry values for $K$ mesons, octet baryons $Σ$,$Ξ$ and $Δ$ baryons, even for exotic pentaquark states. All these asymmetry values just only dependent on the valence quarks numbers in those hadrons.

Sea quark contents of octet baryons

The flavor asymmetry of the nucleon sea, i.e., the excess of $d\bar{d}$ quark-antiquark pairs over $u\bar{u}$ ones in the proton can be explained by several different models; therefore, it is a challenge to discriminate these models from each other. We examine in this Letter three models: the balance model, the meson cloud model, and the chiral quark model, and we show that these models give quite different predictions on the sea quark contents of other octet baryons. New experiments aimed at measuring the flavor contents of other octet baryons are needed for a more profound understanding of the non-perturbative properties of quantum chromodynamics (QCD).

Principle of Balance and the Sea Content of the Proton

In this study, the proton is taken as an ensemble of quark-gluon Fock states. Using the principle of balance that every Fock state should be balanced with all of the nearby Fock states (denoted as the balance model), instead of the principle of detailed balance that any two nearby Fock states should be balanced with each other (denoted as the detailed balance model), the probabilities of finding every Fock state of the proton are obtained. The balance model can be taken as a revised version of the detailed balance model, which can give an excellent description of the light flavor sea asymmetry (i.e., $\bar{u}\not= \bar{d}$) without any parameter. In case of $g\Leftrightarrow gg$ sub-processes not considered, the balance model and the detailed balance model give the same results. In case of $g\Leftrightarrow gg$ sub-processes considered, there is about 10 percent difference between the results of these models. We also calculate the strange content of the proton using the balance model under the equal probability assumption.

Parton Distribution of Proton in a Simple Statistical Model

Taking proton as an ensemble of quark-gluon Fock states and using the principle of detailed balance, we construct a simple statistical model for parton distribution of proton. The recent observed Bjorken-$x$ dependent light flavor sea quark asymmetry $\bar{d}(x)-\bar{u}(x)$ can be well reproduced by Monte Carlo simulation as a pure statistical effect.

Flavor Asymmetry of Nucleon Sea from Detailed Balance

In this study, the proton is taken as an ensemble of quark-gluon Fock states. Using the principle of detailed balance, we find $\bar{d}-\bar{u} \approx 0.124$, which is in surprisingly agreement with the experimental observation.

Detailed Balance and Sea-Quark Flavor Asymmetry of Proton

In this study, the proton is taken as an ensemble of quark-gluon Fock states. Using the principle of detailed balance, the probabilities of finding every Fock states of the proton are obtained without any parameter. A new origin of the light flavor sea quark asymmetry, i.e., $\bar{u} \not= \bar{d}$, is given as a pure statistical effect. It is found that $\bar{d}-\bar{u} \approx 0.124$, which is in surprisingly agreement with the experimental observation.
