Factorized neural posterior estimation for rapid and reliable inference of parameterized post-Einsteinian deviation parameters in gravitational waves

The direct detection of gravitational waves (GWs) by LIGO has confirmed general relativity (GR), but testing GR via GWs requires estimating parameterized post-Einsteinian (ppE) deviation parameters in waveform models. Traditional Bayesian inference methods like Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) provide reliable estimates but suffer from prohibitive computational costs, failing to meet the real-time demands and surging data volume of future GW detectors. Here, we propose a factorized neural posterior estimation framework: we construct independent normalizing flow models for each of the nine ppE deviation parameters, and effectively integrate prior information from other source parameters via a conditional embedding network. Leveraging a hybrid neural network with a convolutional neural network and a Residual Neural Network for feature extraction, our method performs rapid and statistically reliable posterior inference directly from binary black hole signals. Compared to conventional MCMC, our approach achieves millisecond-scale inference time with a speedup factor of $9 \times 10^4$. Comprehensive validations show that the posterior estimates pass the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and achieve empirical coverage probabilities close to theoretical targets. We apply this method to the GW150914 event and find that the resulting posterior distributions are in good agreement with existing results. This work demonstrates the great potential of deep learning for GW parameter estimation and provides a viable technical solution for real-time GR tests with next-generation detectors.

$\mathcal{PT}$-Symmetric Spin--Boson Model with a Continuous Bosonic Spectrum: Exceptional Points and Dynamics

This work studies a $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric non-Hermitian spin--boson model, consisting of a non-Hermitian two-level system coupled to a continuous bosonic bath. The static properties of the system are analyzed through a projection method derived from the displacement operator. We find that only a single exceptional point (EP) emerges, in contrast to non-Hermitian spin--boson models with finite modes, which typically exhibit multiple EPs. Notably, only a single real eigenvalue is found before the EP, which differs markedly from typical non-Hermitian systems where a pair of real eigenvalues precedes the EP. The time evolution of observables is further investigated via the Dirac--Frenkel time-dependent variational principle. Compared to its Hermitian counterpart, the non-Hermitian model exhibits distinct dynamical signatures, most notably the emergence of oscillations with periodic amplified amplitude. In the $\mathcal{PT}$-unbroken phase, the system exhibits sustained oscillatory dynamics with suppressed decoherence, whereas in the $\mathcal{PT}$-broken phase, additional dissipative channels accelerate decoherence and drive rapid convergence toward a stable steady state. These results shed light on how $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetry protects coherent light--matter interactions in non-Hermitian quantum systems.

Nonclassical Photon-Bundle Correlations in Quantum Rabi Models

We investigate nonclassical photon-bundle correlations in the quantum Rabi model and its extended cases, using the quantum dressed master equation. By tuning the light--matter coupling strength at finite temperature, the quantum Rabi model exhibits controllable nonclassical transitions between two-photon bundle bunching and antibunching, allowing for the two-photon bundle emission and statistics. We further introduce anisotropic coupling and nonlinear Stark interactions, which enrich the photon statistical behaviors and provide additional tunability of photon-bundle correlations. Extreme correlation behaviors are found to be closely linked to excited-state quantum phase transitions, suggesting a potential pathway for predicting and exploiting excited-state phenomena. These effects can be controlled solely by tuning intrinsic system parameters, without the need for an external modulating field. The quantum Rabi model family thus provides a flexible and experimentally feasible platform for high-purity photon bundle generation and controllable multi-photon sources.

Assessing the robustness of amortized simulation-based inference to transient noise in gravitational-wave ringdowns

Gravitational waves (GW) emitted by binary systems allow us to perform precision tests of general relativity in the strong field regime. Ringdown signals allow for probing black hole mass and spin with high precision in GW astronomy. With improvements in current and next-generation GW detectors, developing likelihood-free parameter inference methods is crucial. This is especially important when facing challenges such as non-standard noise, partial data, or incomplete signal models that prevent the use of analytical likelihood functions. In this work, we propose an amortized simulation-based inference strategy to estimate ringdown parameters directly. Specifically, our method is based on amortized neural posterior estimation, which trains a neural density estimator of the posterior for all data segments within the prior range. The results show that our trained amortized network achieves statistically consistent parameter estimates with valid confidence coverage compared to established Markov-chain methods, while offering inference speeds that are orders of magnitude faster. Furthermore, we evaluate the robustness of the method against transient noise contamination. Our analysis reveals that the timing of glitch injection has a decisive impact on estimation bias, particularly during the tail of a signal with sparse information. Glitch strength is positively correlated with estimation error, but has limited effect at low signal-to-noise ratios. Mass and spin parameters are most sensitive to noise. This study not only provides an efficient and accurate inference framework for ringdown analysis but also lays a foundation for developing robust data-processing pipelines for future GW astronomy in realistic noise environments.

Nonclassical correlations and quadrature squeezing of photons in anisotropic quantum Rabi-Stark model

This study investigates nonclassical effects of photons in the anisotropic quantum Rabi-Stark model by using a quantum dressed master equation. We analyze second- and higher-order correlation functions, and demonstrate that the nonlinear Stark coupling significantly modulates photon statistics, inducing distinct and tunable photon antibunching and bunching effects. Successive transition signatures of correlation functions provide a potential experimental probe for predicting quantum phase transitions. We further reveal that Stark coupling provides direct control over photon squeezing, achieving significant enhancement and suppression. These findings not only uncover rich nonclassical phenomena in the anisotropic quantum Rabi-Stark model but also establish the nonlinear Stark coupling as a crucial new dimension for quantum detection. It may open a new avenue for precise manipulation of strongly coupled light-matter systems, with potential applications in quantum information processing and quantum-enhanced technologies.
