Charge-dependent spectral softenings of primary cosmic-rays below the knee

In most particle acceleration or propagation theories, the characteristic features of the cosmic ray spectra due to acceleration limits or propagation phase changes are charge dependent. Alternatively, the interaction scenario would expect mass dependent spectral features in general. The observational verification of which relation takes effect in nature is still lack due to the difficulty of measuring the spectra of individual particles up to very high energies. Here we report direct measurements of the carbon, oxygen, and iron spectra from ~20 gigavolts to ~100 teravolts (~60 teravolts for iron) with 9 years of on-orbit data collected by the Dark Matter Particle Explorer. Distinct spectral softenings have been directly detected in these spectra for the first time. Combined with the updated proton and helium spectra, the spectral softening appears universally at a rigidity of ~15 teravolts. A nuclei mass dependent softening is rejected at a confidence level of >99.999%. Possible interpretations of these results, including a nearby cosmic ray source and other models such as the propagation effect, are discussed.

The long mean-life-time-controlled and potentially scalable qubits composed of electric dipolar molecules based on graphene

We propose a new kind of qubits composed of electric dipolar molecules. The electric dipolar molecules in an external uniform electric field will take simple harmonic oscillations, whose quantum states belonging to the two lowest energy levels act as the states |0>, |1> of a qubit. The qubits' excited states have a very long controlled mean life time about 260 seconds, decoherence is no longer an obstacle in quantum computation. We can perform quantum computations by manipulating the qubits of electric dipolar molecules just like those of neutral atoms. When the qubits are used for quantum computations, the dipolar moments' orientations will harmonically oscillate along an external electric field and they will not change the directions: along or against the electric field, so the qubits can be large-scalely manufactured in graphene system. The radius of Rydberg blockade is about 100nm. The number of operated qubits reach several millions.

Search for gamma-ray spectral lines with the DArk Matter Particle Explorer

The DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) is well suitable for searching for monochromatic and sharp $γ$-ray structures in the GeV$-$TeV range thanks to its unprecedented high energy resolution. In this work, we search for $γ$-ray line structures using five years of DAMPE data. To improve the sensitivity, we develop two types of dedicated data sets (including the BgoOnly data which is the first time to be used in the data analysis for the calorimeter-based gamma-ray observatories) and adopt the signal-to-noise ratio optimized regions of interest (ROIs) for different DM density profiles. No line signals or candidates are found between 10 and 300 GeV in the Galaxy. The constraints on the velocity-averaged cross section for $χχ\to γγ$ and the decay lifetime for $χ\to γν$, both at 95% confidence level, have been calculated and the systematic uncertainties have been taken into account. Comparing to the previous Fermi-LAT results, though DAMPE has an acceptance smaller by a factor of $\sim 10$, similar constraints on the DM parameters are achieved and below 100 GeV the lower limits on the decay lifetime are even stronger by a factor of a few. Our results demonstrate the potential of high-energy-resolution observations on dark matter detection.

Calibration and performance of the neutron detector onboard of the DAMPE mission

The DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE), one of the four space-based scientific missions within the framework of the Strategic Pioneer Program on Space Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has been successfully launched on Dec. 17th 2015 from Jiuquan launch center. One of the most important scientific goals of DAMPE is to search for the evidence of dark matter indirectly by measuring the spectrum of high energy cosmic-ray electrons. The neutron detector, one of the four sub-payloads of DAMPE, is designed to distinguish high energy electrons from hadron background by measuring the secondary neutrons produced in the shower. In this paper, a comprehensive introduction of the neutron detector is presented, including the design, the calibration and the performance. The analysis with simulated data and flight data indicates a powerful proton rejection capability of the neutron detector, which plays an essential role for TeV electron identification of DAMPE.

Matter Wave Radiation Leading to Matter Teleportation

The concept of matter wave radiation is put forward, and its equation is established for the first time. The formalism solution shows that the probability density is a function of displacement and time. A free particle and a two-level system are reinvestigated considering the effect of matter wave radiation. Three feasible experimental designs, especially a modified Stern-Gerlach setup, are proposed to verify the existence of matter wave radiation. Matter wave radiation effect in relativity has been formulated in only a raw formulae, which offers another explanation of Lamb shift. A possible mechanics of matter teleportation is predicted due to the effect of matter wave radiation.

Entanglement of the Two Movable Mirrors in a Single Mode Cavity Field

The entanglement of the two movable mirrors in a single mode cavity field is studied in an ideal situation without thermal noise. When gn/w <<1 where g is the coupling coefficient between the mirror and the field, w is the mirror' vibration frequency and n is photon number of the cavity field, we work out Wootters concurrence of the system initially with the field in Fock number state and the two mirrors in vacuum states, and find that the states of the mirrors are entangled into space spanned by |0>,|1> via radiation pressure, though the concurrence is very small.

The Classical Harmonic Vibrations of the Atomic Centers of Mass with Micro Amplitudes and Low Frequencies Monitored by the Entanglement between the Two Two-level Atoms in a Single mode Cavity

We study the entanglement dynamics of the two two-level atoms coupling with a single-mode polarized cavity field after incorporating the atomic centers of mass classical harmonic vibrations with micro amplitudes and low frequencies. We propose a quantitative vibrant factor to modify the concurrence of the two atoms states. When the vibrant frequencies are very low, we obtain that: (i) the factor depends on the relative vibrant displacements and the initial phases rather than the absolute amplitudes, and reduces the concurrence to three orders of magnitude; (ii) the concurrence increases with the increase of the initial phases; (iii) the frequency of the harmonic vibration can be obtained by measuring the maximal value of the concurrence during a small time. These results indicate that even the extremely weak classical harmonic vibrations can be monitored by the entanglement of quantum states.

Detecting the Harmonic Vibrations of Micro Amplitudes and Low Frequencies with Atomic Mach-Zehnder Interferometer

We study the effects of atomic beams harmonic vibrations of micro amplitudes and low frequencies on the mean atomic numbers of the detectors in atomic Mach-Zehnder interferometer, where the two atomic beams are in the same wave surface and have the same phases. We propose a vibrant factor F to quantitatively describe the effects of atomic beams vibrations. It shows that: (i)the vibrant factor F depends on the relative vibrant displacements and the initial phases rather than the absolute amplitudes, (ii)the factor F increases with the increase of the initial phases, and (iii)the frequencies can be derived from equal time interval measurement of the mean atomic numbers. These results imply that it is possible to detect the vibrations of micro amplitudes and low frequencies by measuring the variations of mean atomic numbers.

One Atomic Beam as a Detector of Classical Harmonic Vibrations with Micro Amplitudes and Low Frequencies

We propose a simplest detector of harmonic vibrations with micro amplitudes and low frequencies, i.e. the detector consisting of one atomic beam. Here the atomic beam is induced by a plane harmonic wave and has a classical collective harmonic vibrations, which vibrant directions are perpendicular to the wave vectors of atomic beam. Compared with the detector consisting of atomic Mach-Zehnder interferometer, the new detector has two advantages: (1) it is suitable for the detection of the harmonic vibrations induced either by a longitudinal plane harmonic wave or by a transverse plane harmonic wave; (2) the quantum noise fluctuation of the atomic beam is exactly zero.
