Probing the CP-Violation effects in the $hττ$ coupling at the LHC

A new method used to calculate the neutrino for all major tau hadronic decay event by event at the LHC is presented. It is possible because nowadays better detector description is available. With the neutrino fully reconstructed, matrix element for each event can be calculated, the mass of the Higgs particle can also be calculated event by event with high precision. Based on these, the prospect of measuring the Higgs CP mixing angle with $h\toττ$ decays at the LHC is analyzed. It is predicted that, with a detailed detector simulation, with 3 ab$^{-1}$ of data at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV, a significant improvement of the measurement of the CP mixing angle to a precision of $5.2^\circ$ can be achieved at the LHC, which outperforms the sensitivity from lepton EDM searches up to date in the $hττ$ coupling.

Implication of Higgs Precision Measurement on New Physics

Future precision measurements of the Standard Model (SM) parameters at the proposed Z-factories and Higgs factories may have significant impacts on new physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). We illustrate this by focusing on the Type-II two Higgs doublet model. A multi-variable global fitting is performed with full one loop contributions to relevant couplings. The Higgs signal strength measurements at proposed Higgs factories can provide strong constraints on new physics and are found to be complementary to the Z-pole measurements.

Six Top Messages of New Physics at the LHC

Six top signatures provide a novel probe of new physics. We discuss production of six top quarks as the decay products of a pair of top partners in the setting of a composite Higgs model, and argue that the six top signal may generically provide one of the first final states to show a discrepancy. We construct an analysis based on quantities such as $H_T$ and the numbers of jets which are tagged as boosted tops, $W$s, or containing $b$-tags, and show that the LHC with 3~ab$^{-1}$ can discover top partners with masses up to around 2.5 TeV in the six top signature.

Electroweak phase transition and Higgs phenomenology in the Georgi-Machacek model

In this work, we perform the electroweak phase transition study with the Georgi-Machacek model. We investigate both the one-step and two-step strong first order electroweak phase transition (SFOEWPT). The SFOEWPT viable parameter spaces could be tested by the future 14 TeV LHC, HL-LHC, and ILC. The LHC Higgs signal strength measurements severely bound the SFOEWPT valid parameter spaces, a tinny region of the mixing angle between the neutral fields of the isospin-doublet and isospin-triplet scalars around $α\sim 0$ can allow the two-step SFOEWPT to occur. The triplet vacuum expectation value (VEV) is crucial for both SFOEWPT and related Higgs phenomenology. The two-step SFOEWPT can be distinguished from the one-step SFOEWPT through the triple Higgs coupling searches and the low mass doubly charged Higgs searches at colliders.

Searching for the $W γ$ decay of a charged Higgs boson

We study the prospects for charged Higgs boson searches in the $W γ$ decay channel. This loop-induced decay channel can be important if the charged Higgs is fermiophobic, particularly when its mass is below the $WZ$ threshold. We identify useful kinematic observables and evaluate the future Large Hadron Collider sensitivity to this channel using the custodial-fiveplet charged Higgs in the Georgi-Machacek model as a fermiophobic benchmark. We show that the LHC with 300~fb$^{-1}$ of data at 14~TeV will be able to exclude charged Higgs masses below about 130~GeV for almost any value of the SU(2)$_L$-triplet vacuum expectation value in the model, and masses up to 200~GeV and beyond when the triplet vacuum expectation value is very small. We describe the signal simulation tools created for this analysis, which have been made publicly available.

New physics implication of Higgs precision measurements

Studying the properties of the Higgs boson can be an important window to explore the physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). In this work, we present studies on the implications of the Higgs precision measurements at future Higgs Factories. We perform a global fit to various Higgs search channels to obtain the 95 % C.L. constraints on the model parameter spaces of Two Higgs Double Model (2HDM) and Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). In the 2HDM, we analyze tree level effects as well as one-loop contributions from the heavy Higgs bosons. The strong constraints on $\cos(β-α)$, heavy Higgs masses and their mass splitting are complementary to direct search of the LHC as well as possible future Z pole precision measurements. For the MSSM, we study both the Higgs couplings and mass precisions. The constraints on the CP-odd Higgs mass $m_A$ and stop mass scale $m_{SUSY}$ can be complementary to the direct search of HL-LHC. We also compare the sensitivity of various future Higgs factories, namely Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC), Future Circular Collider (FCC)-ee and International Linear Collider (ILC).

Future prospects of mass-degenerate Higgs bosons in the $CP$-conserving two-Higgs-doublet model

The scenario of two mass-degenerate Higgs bosons within the general two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) is revisited. We focus on the global picture when two $CP$-even Higgs bosons of $h$ and $H$ are nearly mass-degenerate. A global fit to the signal strength of the 125 GeV Higgs measured at the LHC is performed. Based on the best-fit result of the 2HDM mixing angles $(α,β)$, theoretical constraints, charged and $CP$-odd Higgs boson direct search constraints and the electroweak precision constraints are imposed to the 2HDM parameter space. We present the signal predictions of the $(4b\,, 2b\,2γ)$ channels for the benchmark models at the LHC 14 TeV runs. We also study the direct Higgs boson pair productions at the LHC, and the Z-associated Higgs boson pair production search at the ILC 500 GeV runs, as well as the indirect probes at the CEPC 250 GeV run. We find that the mass-degenerate Higgs boson scenario in the Type-II 2HDM can be fully probed by these future experimental searches.

Search for CP violation effects in the $h\to ττ$ decay with $e^+e^-$ colliders

A new method is proposed to reconstruct the neutrinos in the $e^+e^-\to Zh$ process followed by the $h\toττ$ decay. With the help of a refined Higgs momentum reconstruction from the recoiling system and the impact parameters, high precision in the determination of the momentum of neutrinos can be achieved. The prospect of measuring the Higgs CP mixing angle with the $h\toττ$ decay at future $e^+e^-$ colliders is studied with the new method. The analysis is based on a detailed detector simulation of the signal and backgrounds. The fully reconstructed neutrinos and also other visible products from the tau decay are used to build matrix element (ME) based CP observables. With 5 $ab^{-1}$ of data at $E_{\text{CM}}=250$ GeV, a precision of $2.9^\circ$ can be achieved for the CP mixing angle with three main one-prong decay modes of the taus. The precision is found to be about 35\% better than the other methods.

Composite Dark Matter and Higgs

We investigate the possibility that Dark Matter arises as a composite state of a fundamental confining dynamics, together with the Higgs boson. We focus on the minimal SU(4)$\times$SU(4)/SU(4) model which has both a Dark Matter and a Higgs candidates arising as pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons. At the same time, a simple underlying gauge-fermion theory can be defined providing an existence proof of, and useful constraints on, the effective field theory description. We focus on the parameter space where the Dark Matter candidate is mostly a gauge singlet. We present a complete calculation of its relic abundance and find preferred masses between 500 GeV to a few TeV. Direct Dark Matter detection already probes part of the parameter space, ruling out masses above 1 TeV, while Indirect Detection is relevant only if non-thermal production is assumed. The prospects for detection of the odd composite scalars at the LHC are also established.

Unblinding the Dark Matter Blind Spots

The dark matter (DM) blind spots in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) refer to the parameter regions where the couplings of the DM particles to the $Z$-boson or the Higgs boson are almost zero, leading to vanishingly small signals for the DM direct detections. In this paper, we carry out comprehensive analyses for the DM searches under the blind-spot scenarios in MSSM. Guided by the requirement of acceptable DM relic abundance, we explore the complementary coverage for the theory parameters at the LHC, the projection for the future underground DM direct searches, and the indirect searches from the relic DM annihilation into photons and neutrinos. We find that (i) the spin-independent (SI) blind spots may be rescued by the spin-dependent (SD) direct detection in the future underground experiments, and possibly by the indirect DM detections from IceCube and SuperK neutrino experiments; (ii) the detection of gamma rays from Fermi-LAT may not reach the desirable sensitivity for searching for the DM blind-spot regions; (iii) the SUSY searches at the LHC will substantially extend the discovery region for the blind-spot parameters. The dark matter blind spots thus may be unblinded with the collective efforts in future DM searches.

Measuring the CP property of Higgs coupling to tau leptons in the VBF channel at the LHC

We study the prospects of measuring the CP property of the Higgs ($h$) coupling to tau leptons using the vector boson fusion (VBF) production mode at the high-luminosity LHC. Utilizing the previously proposed angle between the planes spanned by the momentum vectors of the $(π^+π^0)$ and $(π^- π^0)$ pairs originating in $τ^\pm$ decays as the CP-odd observable, we perform a detailed Monte Carlo analysis, taking into account the relevant standard model backgrounds, as well as detector resolution effects. We find that excluding a pure CP-odd coupling hypothesis requires $\mathcal{O}(400 {~\rm fb}^{-1})$ luminosity at the 14 TeV LHC, and values of the CP-mixing angle larger than about $25^\circ$ can be excluded at $95\%$ confidence level using $3 {~\rm ab}^{-1}$ data. It is observed that the uncertainty in the angular resolution of the neutral pion momenta does not constitute a significant hurdle. Achieving a signal to background ratio ($S/B$) close to one, while keeping a high enough signal yield required to study the angular distributions selects out VBF as a promising mode to probe the CP nature of the $hττ$ coupling, with gluon fusion suffering from a low $S/B$, and the $W^\pm h/Zh$ mode (with leptonically decaying $W^\pm /Z$) having a much smaller signal rate.

Sbottom discovery via mixed decays at the LHC

In the search for bottom squark (sbottom) in SUSY at the LHC, the common practice has been to assume a $100\%$ decay branching fraction for a given search channel. In realistic MSSM scenarios, there are often more than one significant decay modes to be present, which significantly weaken the current sbottom search limits at the LHC. On the other hand, the combination of the multiple decay modes offers alternative discovery channels for sbottom searches. In this paper, we present the sbottom decays in a few representative mass parameter scenarios. We then analyze the sbottom signal for the pair production in QCD with one sbottom decaying via $\tilde{b}\rightarrow b χ_1^0,\ b χ_2^0$, and the other one decaying via $\tilde{b} \rightarrow t χ_1^\pm$. With the gaugino subsequent decaying to gauge bosons or a Higgs boson $χ_2^0 \rightarrow Z χ_1^0,\ h χ_1^0$ and $χ_1^\pm \rightarrow W^\pm χ_1^0$, we study the reach of those signals at the 14 TeV LHC with 300 ${\rm fb^{-1}}$ integrated luminosity. For a left-handed bottom squark, we find that a mass up to 920 GeV can be discovered at 5$σ$ significance for 250 GeV $< m_{χ_1^0} <$ 350 GeV, or excluded up to 1050 GeV at the 95\% confidence level for the $h$ channel ($μ>0$); similarly, it can be discovered up to 840 GeV, or excluded up to 900 GeV at the 95\% confidence level for the $Z$ channel ($μ<0$). The sbottom and stop signals in the same SUSY parameter scenario are combined to obtain the optimal sensitivity, which is about 150 GeV better than the individual reach of the sbottom or stop. For a right-handed bottom squark with $\tilde{b} \tilde{b}^* \rightarrow b χ_1^0,\ t χ_1^\pm$ channel, we find that the sbottom mass up to 880 GeV can be discovered at 5$σ$ significance, or excluded up to 1060 GeV at the 95\% confidence level.

Complete Multi-Representations of Sets in a Computable Measure Space

In a recent paper, two multi-representations for the measurable sets in a computable measure space have been introduced, which prove to be topologically complete w.r.t. certain topological properties. In this contribution, we show them recursively complete w.r.t. computability of measure and set-theoretical operations.
