MineCEraft: Evaluating Language Models as Construction Engineers in the World of Minecraft

We introduce MineCEraft (Minecraft Construction Engineering Benchmark, pronounced mine-see-ee-raft), an easy-to-use, open-source benchmark designed to systematically evaluate the reliability and limitations of LLMs for construction tasks in Minecraft. The MineCEraft benchmark comprises 723 domain-expert hand-crafted natural-language instructions with programmatically verifiable evaluation, spanning 17 distinct task categories, providing a safe and controllable experimental environment for assessing LLMs' ability to perform realistic construction engineering tasks. With this benchmark, we conduct an in-depth evaluation of state-of-the-art LLMs and perform a detailed error analysis, revealing key failure modes and practical challenges in applying LLMs to construction engineering tasks.

DrawingVQA: A Real-World Benchmark for Multi-Depth Visual-Textual Reasoning on Construction Drawings

We introduce DrawingVQA, the first benchmark designed to evaluate multimodal large language models (MLLMs) on real-world construction drawings -- a core media in architecture, civil, and many other engineering practices. Unlike natural images or schematic floor plans, construction drawings fuse abstract geometry, symbolic notation, tabular data, annotations, and domain-specific text, forming a uniquely complex visual-textual domain core to engineering workflows. DrawingVQA bridges this gap with 33 "Issued for Construction" drawings and 92 expertly curated question-answer pairs, spanning three reasoning depths: perceptual understanding, contextual interpretation, and domain-expert reasoning. To evaluate model capabilities, we present a dual categorization framework to jointly analyze performance across seven construction-engineering and four MLLM capability dimensions -- the first to explicitly map engineering workflows to AI reasoning competencies. Evaluations of state-of-the-art MLLMs reveal a substantial gap between model and expert performance, particularly at higher reasoning depths. This benchmark lays a foundation for domain-specialized multimodal reasoning to allow for advancement on integration of AI-driven understanding and real-world engineering workflows.

Attack and Reset for Unlearning: Exploiting Adversarial Noise toward Machine Unlearning through Parameter Re-initialization

With growing concerns surrounding privacy and regulatory compliance, the concept of machine unlearning has gained prominence, aiming to selectively forget or erase specific learned information from a trained model. In response to this critical need, we introduce a novel approach called Attack-and-Reset for Unlearning (ARU). This algorithm leverages meticulously crafted adversarial noise to generate a parameter mask, effectively resetting certain parameters and rendering them unlearnable. ARU outperforms current state-of-the-art results on two facial machine-unlearning benchmark datasets, MUFAC and MUCAC. In particular, we present the steps involved in attacking and masking that strategically filter and re-initialize network parameters biased towards the forget set. Our work represents a significant advancement in rendering data unexploitable to deep learning models through parameter re-initialization, achieved by harnessing adversarial noise to craft a mask.
