A Hamiltonian Formalism for Topological Recursion

We propose a string field Hamiltonian formalism that associates a class of spectral curves and provides their quantization through the Chekhov-Eynard-Orantin topological recursion. As illustrative examples, we present Hamiltonians for the $(2,2m-1)$ minimal discrete and continuum dynamical triangulation (DT) models, the supersymmetric analogue of minimal continuum DT models, the Penner model, and 4D $\mathcal{N}=2$ $SU(2)$ gauge theories in the self-dual $Ω$-background.

The emergence of the universe

We show how our Universe can emerge from a symmetry breaking of a multicomponent $W_3$ algebra, where the components in addition form a Jordan algebra. We discuss how symmetry breaking related to the Jordan algebras $H_3(C)$ and $H_3(O)$ over the complex and octonion numbers can lead to an extended four-dimensional spacetime, where the expansion of the Universe is governed by a modified Friedmann equation. We finally discuss how this modified Friedmann equation might explain a number of puzzling cosmological observations.

Multicritical Dynamical Triangulations and Topological Recursion

We explore a continuum theory of multicritical dynamical triangulations and causal dynamical triangulations in two-dimensional quantum gravity from the perspective of the Chekhov-Eynard-Orantin topological recursion. The former model lacks a causal time direction and is governed by the two-reduced $W^{(3)}$ algebra, whereas the latter model possesses a causal time direction and is governed by the full $W^{(3)}$ algebra. We show that the topological recursion solves the Schwinger-Dyson equations for both models, and we explicitly compute several amplitudes.

Dynamical Triangulations for 2D Pure Gravity and Topological Recursion

We show that, in two-dimensional Euclidean quantum gravity without matter fields, the Schwinger-Dyson equations derived within the Hamiltonian framework of non-critical string field theory can be reformulated in terms of the Chekhov-Eynard-Orantin topological recursion, and we explicitly compute the associated low-order amplitudes. In particular, we establish this reformulation for two discrete models -- the basic type and the strip type -- as well as for the continuum limit of dynamical triangulations.

The causality road from dynamical triangulations to quantum gravity that describes our Universe

It is shown how one, guided by causality, starting from so-called dynamical triangulations, is led to a candidate of quantum gravity that describes our Universe. This theory is based on W- and Jordan algebras. It explains how our Universe was created, how cosmic inflation began and ended, how the topology and the geometry of our Universe was formed, and what was the origin of Big Bang energy. The theory also leads to a modified Friedmann equation which explains the present accelerating expansion of our Universe without appealing to the cosmological constant.

The large scale structure of the Universe from a modified Friedmann equation

We have already shown how a modified Friedmann equation, originating from a model of the Universe built from a certain $W_3$ algebra, is able to explainthe difference between the Hubble constants extracted from CMB data and from local measurements. In this article we show that the same model also describes aspects of the large scale structure of the Universe well.

Wormholes, a fluctuating cosmological constant and the Coleman mechanism

We show that in a two-dimensional model of quantum gravity the summation over all possible wormhole configurations leads to a kind of Coleman mechanism where the cosmological constant plays no role for large universes. Observers who are unable to observe the change in topology will naturally interpret the measurements of the size of the universe as being caused by a fluctuating cosmological constant, rather than fluctuating topology of spacetime.

Models of the Universe based on Jordan algebras

We propose a model for the universe based on Jordan algebras. The action consists of cubic terms with coefficients being the structure constants of a Jordan algebra. Coupling constants only enter the theory via symmetry breaking which also selects a physical vacuum. "Before" the symmetry breaking the universe is in a pre-geometric state where it makes no sense to talk about space or time, but time comes into existence with the symmetry breaking together with a Hamiltonian which can create space from "nothing" and in some cases can propagate the space to macroscopic size in a finite time. There exists symmetry breaking which results in macroscopic spacetime dimensions 3, 4, 6 and 10, based on the Jordan algebras of Hermitian 3x3 matrices with real, complex, quarternion and octonion entries, respectively.

2d CDT is 2d Horava-Lifshitz quantum gravity

Causal Dynamical Triangulations (CDT) is a lattice theory where aspects of quantum gravity can be studied. Two-dimensional CDT can be solved analytically and the continuum (quantum) Hamiltonian obtained. In this article we show that this continuum Hamiltonian is the one obtained by quantizing two-dimensional projectable Horava-Lifshitz gravity.

Causal Dynamical Triangulation with Extended Interactions in 1+1 Dimensions

We study the Causal Dynamical Triangulation (CDT) with extended interactions in 1+1 dimensions applying the method in the non-critical string field theory (SFT) constructed by Ishibashi and Kawai. For this model, we solve Schwinger-Dyson's equation (SDE) for disk amplitude perturbatively, and find a matrix model in the continuum limit reproducing the SDE in the non-critical SFT approach as the loop equation.

Quantization of Neveu-Schwarz-Ramond Superstring Model in 10+2-dimensional Spacetime

We construct a Neveu-Schwarz-Ramond superstring model which is invariant under supersymmetric U(1)_V * U(1)_A gauge transformations as well as the super-general coordinate, the super local Lorentz and the super-Weyl transformations on the string world-sheet. We quantize the superstring model by covariant BRST formulation a la Batalin and Vilkovisky and noncovariant light-cone gauge formulation. Upon the quantizations the model turns out to be formulated consistently in 10+2-dimensional background spacetime involving two time dimensions.

Quantization of Bosonic String Model in 26+2-dimensional Spacetime

We investigate the quantization of the bosonic string model which has a local U(1)_V * U(1)_A gauge invariance as well as the general coordinate and Weyl invariance on the world-sheet. The model is quantized by Lagrangian and Hamiltonian BRST formulations {á} la Batalin, Fradkin and Vilkovisky and noncovariant light-cone gauge formulation. Upon the quantization the model turns out to be formulated consistently in 26+2-dimensional background spacetime involving two time-like coordinates.

Effective Superpotentials for SO/Sp with Flavor from Matrix Models

We study matrix models related to $SO/Sp$ gauge theories with flavors. We give the effective superpotentials for gauge theories with arbitrary tree level superpotential up to first instanton level. For quartic tree level superpotential we obtained exact one-cut solution. We also derive Seiberg-Witten curve for these gauge theories from matrix model argument.

The bosonic string and superstring models in 26+2 and 10+2 dimensional space--time, and the generalized Chern-Simons action

We have covariantized the Lagrangians of the U(1)_V * U(1)_A models, which have U(1)_V * U(1)_A gauge symmetry in two dimensions, and studied their symmetric structures. The special property of the U(1)_V * U(1)_A models is the fact that all these models have an extra time coordinate in the target space-time. The U(1)_V * U(1)_A models coupled to two-dimensional gravity are string models in 26+2 dimensional target space-time for bosonic string and in 10+2 dimensional target space-time for superstring. Both string models have two time coordinates. In order to construct the covariant Lagrangians of the U(1)_V * U(1)_A models the generalized Chern-Simons term plays an important role. The supersymmetric generalized Chern-Simons action is also proposed. The Green-Schwarz type of U(1)_V * U(1)_A superstring model has another fermionic local symmetry as well as κ-symmetry. The supersymmetry of target space-time is different from the standard one.
