On the Drinfeld-Sokolov Hierarchies of D type

We extend the notion of pseudo-differential operators that are used to represent the Gelfand-Dickey hierarchies, and obtain a similar representation for the full Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchies of $D_n$ type. By using such pseudo-differential operators we introduce the tau functions of these bi-Hamiltonian hierarchies, and prove that these hierarchies are equivalent to the integrable hierarchies defined by Date-Jimbo-Kashiware-Miwa and Kac-Wakimoto from the basic representation of the Kac-Moody algebra $D_n^{(1)}$.

Jacobi Structures of Evolutionary Partial Differential Equations

In this paper we introduce the notion of infinite dimensional Jacobi structure to describe the geometrical structure of a class of nonlocal Hamiltonian systems which appear naturally when applying reciprocal transformations to Hamiltonian evolutionary PDEs. We prove that our class of infinite dimensional Jacobi structures is invariant under reciprocal transformations. The main technical tool is in a suitable generalization of the classical Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket to the space of the so called quasi-local multi-vectors, and a simple realization of this structure in the framework of supermanifolds. These constructions are used to the computation of the Lichnerowicz-Jacobi cohomologies of Jacobi structures. We also introduce the notion of bi-Jacobi structures and consider the integrability of a system of evolutionary PDEs that possesses a bi-Jacobi structure.

Hamiltonian Structures and Reciprocal Transformations for the $r$-KdV-CH Hierarchy

The $r$-KdV-CH hierarchy is a generalization of the Korteweg-de Vries and Camassa-Holm hierarchies parametrized by $r+1$ constants. In this paper we clarify some properties of its multi-Hamiltonian structures, prove the semisimplicity of the associated bihamiltonian structures and the formula for their central invariants. By introducing a class of generalized Hamiltonian structures, we give in a natural way the transformation formulae of the Hamiltonian structures of the hierarchy under certain reciprocal transformation, and prove the formulae at the level of its dispersionless limit. We also consider relations of the associated bihamiltonian structures to Frobenius manifolds.

On Properties of Hamiltonian Structures for a Class of Evolutionary PDEs

In \cite{LZ2} it is proved that for certain class of perturbations of the hyperbolic equation $u_t=f(u) u_x$, there exist changes of coordinate, called quasi-Miura transformations, that reduce the perturbed equations to the unperturbed one. We prove in the present paper that if in addition the perturbed equations possess Hamiltonian structures of certain type, the same quasi-Miura transformations also reduce the Hamiltonian structures to their leading terms. By applying this result, we obtain a criterion of the existence of Hamiltonian structures for a class of scalar evolutionary PDEs and an algorithm to find out the Hamiltonian structures.

On Quasitriviality and Integrability of a Class of Scalar Evolutionary PDEs

For certain class of perturbations of the equation $u_t=f(u) u_x$, we prove the existence of change of coordinates, called quasi-Miura transformations, that reduce these perturbed equations to the unperturbed ones. As an application, we propose a criterion for the integrability of these equations.

Extended affine Weyl groups and Frobenius manifolds -- II

For the root system of type $B_l$ and $C_l$, we generalize the result of \cite{DZ1998} by showing the existence of a Frobenius manifold structure on the orbit space of the extended affine Weyl group that corresponds to any vertex of the Dynkin diagram instead of a particular choice of \cite{DZ1998}.

A 2-Component Generalization of the Camassa-Holm Equation and Its Solutions

An explicit reciprocal transformation between a 2-component generalization of the Camassa-Holm equation, called the 2-CH system, and the first negative flow of the AKNS hierarchy is established, this transformation enables one to obtain solutions of the 2-CH system from those of the first negative flow of the AKNS hierarchy. Interesting examples of peakon and multi-kink solutions of the 2-CH system are presented.

On Hamiltonian perturbations of hyperbolic systems of conservation laws

We study the general structure of formal perturbative solutions to the Hamiltonian perturbations of spatially one-dimensional systems of hyperbolic PDEs. Under certain genericity assumptions it is proved that any bihamiltonian perturbation can be eliminated in all orders of the perturbative expansion by a change of coordinates on the infinite jet space depending rationally on the derivatives. The main tools is in constructing of the so-called quasi-Miura transformation of jet coordinates eliminating an arbitrary deformation of a semisimple bihamiltonian structure of hydrodynamic type (the quasitriviality theorem). We also describe, following \cite{LZ1}, the invariants of such bihamiltonian structures with respect to the group of Miura-type transformations depending polynomially on the derivatives.

Virasoro Symmetries of the Extended Toda Hierarchy

We prove that the extended Toda hierarchy of \cite{CDZ} admits nonabelian Lie algebra of infinitesimal symmetries isomorphic to the half of the Virasoro algebra. The generators $L_m$, $m\geq -1$ of the Lie algebra act by linear differential operators onto the tau function of the hierarchy. We also prove that the tau function of a generic solution to the extended Toda hierarchy is annihilated by a combination of the Virasoro operators and the flows of the hierarchy. As an application we show that the validity of the Virasoro constraints for the $CP^1$ Gromov-Witten invariants and their descendents implies that their generating function is the logarithm of a particular tau function of the extended Toda hierarchy.

The Extended Toda Hierarchy

We present the Lax pair formalism for certain extension of the continuous limit of the classical Toda lattice hierarchy, provide a well defined notion of tau function for its solutions, and give an explicit formulation of the relationship between the $CP^1$ topological sigma model and the extended Toda hierarchy. We also establish an equivalence of the latter with certain extension of the nonlinear Schrödinger hierarchy.

Normal forms of hierarchies of integrable PDEs, Frobenius manifolds and Gromov - Witten invariants

We present a project of classification of a certain class of bihamiltonian 1+1 PDEs depending on a small parameter. Our aim is to embed the theory of Gromov - Witten invariants of all genera into the theory of integrable systems. The project is focused at describing normal forms of the PDEs and their local bihamiltonian structures satisfying certain simple axioms. A Frobenius manifold or its degeneration is associated to every bihamiltonian structure of our type. The main result is a universal loop equation on the jet space of a semisimple Frobenius manifold that can be used for perturbative reconstruction of the integrable hierarchy. We show that first few terms of the perturbative expansion correctly reproduce the universal identities between intersection numbers of Gromov - Witten classes and their descendents.

Frobenius Manifolds And Virasoro Constraints

For an arbitrary Frobenius manifold a system of Virasoro constraints is constructed. In the semisimple case these constraints are proved to hold true in the genus one approximation. Particularly, the genus $\leq 1$ Virasoro conjecture of T.Eguchi, K.Hori, M.Jinzenji, and C.-S.Xiong and of S.Katz is proved for smooth projective varieties having semisimple quantum cohomology.

Extended affine Weyl groups and Frobenius manifolds

We define certain extensions of affine Weyl groups (distinct from these considered by K. Saito [S1] in the theory of extended affine root systems), prove an analogue of Chevalley theorem for their invariants, and construct a Frobenius structure on their orbit spaces. This produces solutions $F(t_1, ..., t_n)$ of WDVV equations of associativity polynomial in $t_1, ..., t_{n-1}, \exp t_n$.

Bihamiltonian Hierarchies in 2D Topological Field Theory At One-Loop Approximation

We compute the genus one correction to the integrable hierarchy describing coupling to gravity of a 2D topological field theory. The bihamiltonian structure of the hierarchy is given by a classical W-algebra; we compute the central charge of this algebra. We also express the generating function of elliptic Gromov - Witten invariants via tau-function of the isomonodromy deformation problem arising in the theory of WDVV equations of associativity.
