Fast Homomorphic Linear Algebra with BLAS

Homomorphic encryption is a cryptographic paradigm allowing to compute on encrypted data, opening a wide range of applications in privacy-preserving data manipulation, notably in AI. Many of those applications require significant linear algebra computations (matrix-vector products, and matrix-matrix products). This central role of linear algebra computations goes far beyond homomorphic algebra and applies to most areas of scientific computing. This high versatility led, over time, to the development of a set of highly optimized routines, specified in 1979 under the name BLAS (basic linear algebra subroutines). Motivated both by the applicative importance of homomorphic linear algebra and the access to highly efficient implementations of cleartext linear algebra able to draw the most out of available hardware, we explore the connections between CKKS-based homomorphic linear algebra and floating-point plaintext linear algebra. The CKKS homomorphic encryption system is the most natural choice in this setting, as it natively handles real numbers and offers a large SIMD parallelism. We provide reductions for matrix-vector products, vector-vector products for moderate-sized to large matrices to their plaintext equivalents. Combined with BLAS, we demonstrate that the efficiency loss between CKKS-based encrypted square matrix multiplication and double-precision floating-point square matrix multiplication is a mere 4-12 factor, depending on the precise situation.

Lagrangian cobordism of positroid links

Casals-Gorsky-Gorsky-Simental realized all positroid strata of the complex Grassmannian as augmentation varieties of Legendrians called positroid links. We prove that the partial order on strata induced by Zariski closure also has a symplectic interpretation, given by exact Lagrangian cobordism.

Lagrangian fillings for Legendrian links of finite or affine Dynkin type

We prove that there are at least as many exact embedded Lagrangian fillings as seeds for Legendrian links of finite type $\mathsf{ADE}$ or affine type $\tilde{\mathsf{D}} \tilde{\mathsf{E}}$. We also provide as many Lagrangian fillings with rotational symmetry as seeds of type $\mathsf{B}$, $\mathsf{G}_2$, $\tilde{\mathsf{G}}_2$, $\tilde{\mathsf{B}}$, or $\tilde{\mathsf{C}}_2$, and with conjugation symmetry as seeds of type $\mathsf{F}_4$, $\mathsf{C}$, $\mathsf{E}_6^{(2)}$, $\tilde{\mathsf{F}}_4$, or $\mathsf{A}_5^{(2)}$. These families are the first known Legendrian links with (infinitely many) exact Lagrangian fillings (with symmetry) that exhaust all seeds in the corresponding cluster structures beyond type $\mathsf{A} \mathsf{D}$. Furthermore, we show that the $N$-graph realization of (twice of) Coxeter mutation of type $\tilde{\mathsf{D}} \tilde{\mathsf{E}}$ corresponds to a Legendrian loop of the corresponding Legendrian links. Especially, the loop of type $\tilde{\mathsf{D}}$ coincides with the one considered by Casals and Ng.

Lagrangian fillings for Legendrian links of affine type

We prove that there are at least as many exact embedded Lagrangian fillings as seeds for Legendrian links of affine type $\tilde{\mathsf{D}} \tilde{\mathsf{E}}$. We also provide as many Lagrangian fillings with certain symmetries as seeds of type $\tilde{\mathsf{B}}_n$, $\tilde{\mathsf{F}}_4$, $\tilde{\mathsf{G}}_2$, and $\mathsf{E}_6^{(2)}$. These families are the first known Legendrian links with infinitely many fillings that exhaust all seeds in the corresponding cluster structures. Furthermore, we show that Legendrian realization of Coxeter mutation of type $\tilde{\mathsf{D}}$ corresponds to the Legendrian loop considered by Casals and Ng.

Lagrangian fillings for Legendrian links of finite type

We prove that there are at least seeds many exact embedded Lagrangian fillings for Legendrian links of type $\mathsf{ADE}$. We also provide seeds many Lagrangian fillings with certain symmetries for type $\mathsf{BCFG}$. Our main tools are $N$-graphs and the combinatorics of seed patterns of finite type.

On the Frame-Stewart Conjecture

The Frame-Stewart conjecture states the least number of moves to solve a generalized Tower of Hanoi problem, of n disks and p pegs. In this paper, we prove a weaker version of the Frame-Stewart conjecture.

Augmentations are sheaves for Legendrian graphs

In this article, associated to a (bordered) Legendrian graph, we study and show the equivalence between two categorical Legendrian isotopy invariants: the augmentation category, a unital $A_{\infty}$-category, which lifts the set of augmentations of the associated Chekanov-Eliashberg DGA, and a DG category of constructible sheaves on the front plane, with micro-support at contact infinity controlled by the (bordered) Legendrian graph. In other words, generalizing [21], we prove "augmentations are sheaves" in the singular case.

Augmentations and ruling polynomials for Legendrian graphs

In this article, associated to a (bordered) Legendrian graph, we study and show the equivalence between two Legendrian isotopy invariants: augmentation number via point-counting over a finite field, for the augmentation variety of the associated Chekanov-Eliashberg differential graded algebra, and ruling polynomial via combinatorics of the decompositions of the associated front projection.

Ruling invariants for Legendrian graphs

We define ruling invariants for even-valence Legendrian graphs in standard contact three-space. We prove that rulings exist if and only if the DGA of the graph, introduced by the first two authors, has an augmentation. We set up the usual ruling polynomials for various notions of gradedness and prove that if the graph is four-valent, then the ungraded ruling polynomial appears in Kauffman-Vogel's graph version of the Kauffman polynomial. Our ruling invariants are compatible with certain vertex-identifying operations as well as vertical cuts and gluings of front diagrams. We also show that Leverson's definition of a ruling of a Legendrian link in a connected sum of $S^1 \times S^2$'s can be seen as a special case of ours.

A Chekanov-Eliashberg algebra for Legendrian graphs

We define a differential graded algebra for Legendrian graphs and tangles in the standard contact Euclidean three space. This invariant is defined combinatorially by using ideas from Legendrian contact homology. The construction is distinguished from other versions of Legendrian contact algebra by the vertices of Legendrian graphs. A set of countably many generators and a generalized notion of equivalence are introduced for invariance. We show a van Kampen type theorem for the differential graded algebras under the tangle replacement. Our construction recovers many known algebraic constructions of Legendrian links via suitable operations at the vertices.

A wrapped Fukaya category of knot complement

This is the first of a series of two articles where we construct a version of wrapped Fukaya category $\mathcal W\mathcal F(M\setminus K;H_{g_0})$ of the cotangent bundle $T^*(M \setminus K)$ of the knot complement $M \setminus K$ of a compact 3-manifold $M$, and do some calculation for the case of hyperbolic knots $K \subset M$. For the construction, we use the wrapping induced by the kinetic energy Hamiltonian $H_{g_0}$ associated to the cylindrical adjustment $g_0$ on $M \setminus K$ of a smooth metric $g$ defined on $M$. We then consider the torus $T = \partial N(K)$ as an object in this category and its wrapped Floer complex $CW^*(ν^*T;H_{g_0})$ where $N(K)$ is a tubular neighborhood of $K \subset M$. We prove that the quasi-equivalence class of the category and the quasi-isomorphism class of the $A_\infty$ algebra $CW^*(ν^*T;H_{g_0})$ are independent of the choice of cylindrical adjustments of such metrics depending only on the isotopy class of the knot $K$ in $M$. In a sequel [BKO], we give constructions of a wrapped Fukaya category $\mathcal W\mathcal F(M\setminus K;H_h)$ for hyperbolic knot $K$ and of $A_\infty$ algebra $CW^*(ν^*T;H_h)$ directly using the hyperbolic metric $h$ on $M \setminus K$, and prove a formality result for the asymptotic boundary of $(M \setminus K, h)$.

Formality of Floer complex of the ideal boundary of hyperbolic knot complement

This is a sequel to the authors' article [BKO](arXiv:1901.02239). We consider a hyperbolic knot $K$ in a closed 3-manifold $M$ and the cotangent bundle of its complement $M \setminus K$. We equip $M \setminus K$ with a hyperbolic metric $h$ and its cotangent bundle $T^*(M \setminus K)$ with the induced kinetic energy Hamiltonian $H_h = \frac{1}{2} |p|_h^2$ and Sasakian almost complex structure $J_h$, and associate a wrapped Fukaya category to $T^*(M\setminus K)$ whose wrapping is given by $H_h$. We then consider the conormal $ν^*T$ of a horo-torus $T$ as its object. We prove that all non-constant Hamiltonian chords are transversal and of Morse index 0 relative to the horo-torus $T$, and so that the structure maps satisfy $\widetilde{\mathfrak m}^k = 0$ unless $k \neq 2$ and an $A_\infty$-algebra associated to $ν^*T$ is reduced to a noncommutative algebra concentrated to degree 0. We prove that the wrapped Floer cohomology $HW(ν^*T; H_h)$ with respect to $H_h$ is well-defined and isomorphic to the Knot Floer cohomology $HW(\partial_\infty(M \setminus K))$ that was introduced in [BKO] for arbitrary knot $K \subset M$. We also define a reduced cohomology, denoted by $\widetilde{HW}^d(\partial_\infty(M \setminus K))$, by modding out constant chords and prove that if $\widetilde{HW}^d(\partial_\infty(M \setminus K))\neq 0$ for some $d \geq 1$, then $K$ cannot be hyperbolic. On the other hand, we prove that all torus knots have $\widetilde{HW}^1(\partial_\infty(M \setminus K)) \neq 0$.

Review on rationality problems of algebraic k-tori

Rationality problems of algebraic k-tori are closely related to rationality problems of the invariant field, also known as Noether's Problem. We describe how a function field of algebraic k-tori can be identified as an invariant field under a group action and that a k-tori is rational if and only if its function field is rational over k. We also introduce character group of k-tori and numerical approach to determine rationality of k-tori.

Periodic orbits in virtually contact structures

We prove that certain non-exact magnetic Hamiltonian systems on products of closed hyperbolic surfaces and with a potential function of large oscillation admit non-constant contractible periodic solutions of energy below the Mañé critical value. For that we develop a theory of holomorphic curves in symplectizations of non-compact contact manifolds that arise as the covering space of a virtually contact structure whose contact form is bounded with all derivatives up to order three.

Legendrian singular links and singular connected sums

We study Legendrian singular links up to contact isotopy. Using a special property of the singular points, we define the singular connected sum of Legendrian singular links. This concept is a generalization of the connected sum and can be interpreted as a tangle replacement, which provides a way to classify Legendrian singular links. Moreover, we investigate several phenomena only occur in the Legendrian setup.

Continuation homomorphism in Rabinowitz Floer homology for symplectic deformations

Will Merry computed Rabinowitz Floer homology above Mane's critical value in terms of loop space homology by establishing an Abbondandolo-Schwarz short exact sequence. The purpose of this article is to provide an alternative proof of Merry's result. We construct a continuation homomorphism for symplectic deformations which enables us to reduce the computation to the untwisted case. Our construction takes advantage of a special version of the isoperimetric inequality which above Mane's critical value holds true.
