MaskedFOP: Polyglot Speaker Identification under Missing Visual Modality via Cascaded Graph Label Propagation

We present MaskedFOP, a system for closed-set polyglot speaker identification under two simultaneous challenges: the face modality is entirely absent at test time, and speech comes from Urdu, a language unseen during face-supervised training. The system integrates three complementary mechanisms. First, a modality-dropout dual-head network built on the Fusion and Orthogonal Projection (FOP) backbone forces the audio branch to develop independent discriminative power via per-sample face masking, ensuring that the audio encoder remains capable when face is absent. Second, two MaskedFOP instances trained on Emphasized Channel Attention, Propagation, and Aggregation in Time Delay Neural Network (ECAPA-TDNN) features with different random seeds produce complementary audio embeddings whose element-wise average yields a more robust 512-dimensional representation than any single model. Third, a two-stage cascaded inference procedure first refines multimodal labels through a fused Graph Label Propagation (GLP) pass (Stage 1), then assigns audio-only labels by cosine nearest-centroid (Stage 2), replacing the 70 sparse training prototypes with ~1,500 in-domain test-set centroids from Stage 1. Submitted to the POLY-SIM 2026 Grand Challenge, the system achieves a mean P-accuracy of 0.9989, placing first among all submissions evaluated on the challenge server. An ablation identifies cascaded seeding as the single largest gain (>8 pp on P4/P6). The code is available at https://github.com/Ayoub-Elkhouzari/POLY-SIM2026.

TARNet: A Temporal-Aware Multi-Scale Architecture for Closed-Set Speaker Identification

Closed-Set speaker identification aims to assign a speech utterance to one of a predefined set of enrolled speakers and requires robust modeling of speaker-specific characteristics across multiple temporal scales. While recent deep learning approaches have achieved strong performance, many existing architectures provide limited mechanisms for modeling temporal dependencies across different time scales, which can restrict the effective use of complementary short-, mid-, and long-term speaker characteristics. In this paper, we propose TARNet, a lightweight Temporal-Aware Representation Network for closed-set speaker identification. TARNet explicitly models temporal information at multiple time scales using a multi-stage temporal encoder with stage-specific dilation configurations. The resulting multi-scale representations are fused and aggregated via an Attentive Statistics Pooling (ASP) module to produce a discriminative utterance-level speaker embedding. Experiments on the VoxCeleb1 and LibriSpeech datasets show that TARNet outperforms state-of-the-art methods while maintaining competitive computational complexity, making it suitable for practical speaker identification systems. The code is publicly available at https://github.com/YassinTERRAF/TARNet.

Instant Particle Size Distribution Measurement Using CNNs Trained on Synthetic Data

Accurate particle size distribution (PSD) measurement is important in industries such as mining, pharmaceuticals, and fertilizer manufacturing, significantly influencing product quality and operational efficiency. Traditional PSD methods like sieve analysis and laser diffraction are manual, time-consuming, and limited by particle overlap. Recent developments in convolutional neural networks (CNNs) enable automated, real-time PSD estimation directly from particle images. In this work, we present a CNN-based methodology trained on realistic synthetic particle imagery generated using Blender's advanced rendering capabilities. Synthetic data sets using this method can replicate various industrial scenarios by systematically varying particle shapes, textures, lighting, and spatial arrangements that closely resemble the actual configurations. We evaluated three CNN-based architectures, ResNet-50, InceptionV3, and EfficientNet-B0, for predicting critical PSD parameters (d10, d50, d90). Results demonstrated comparable accuracy across models, with EfficientNet-B0 achieving the best computational efficiency suitable for real-time industrial deployment. This approach shows the effectiveness of realistic synthetic data for robust CNN training, which offers significant potential for automated industrial PSD monitoring. AI-based identification and support of at-risk students: A case study of the Moroccan education system

Student dropout is a global issue influenced by personal, familial, and academic factors, with varying rates across countries. This paper introduces an AI-driven predictive modeling approach to identify students at risk of dropping out using advanced machine learning techniques. The goal is to enable timely interventions and improve educational outcomes. Our methodology is adaptable across different educational systems and levels. By employing a rigorous evaluation framework, we assess model performance and use Shapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) to identify key factors influencing predictions. The approach was tested on real data provided by the Moroccan Ministry of National Education, achieving 88% accuracy, 88% recall, 86% precision, and an AUC of 87%. These results highlight the effectiveness of the AI models in identifying at-risk students. The framework is adaptable, incorporating historical data for both short and long-term detection, offering a comprehensive solution to the persistent challenge of student dropout.

Speaker Identification from emotional and noisy speech data using learned voice segregation and Speech VGG

Speech signals are subjected to more acoustic interference and emotional factors than other signals. Noisy emotion-riddled speech data is a challenge for real-time speech processing applications. It is essential to find an effective way to segregate the dominant signal from other external influences. An ideal system should have the capacity to accurately recognize required auditory events from a complex scene taken in an unfavorable situation. This paper proposes a novel approach to speaker identification in unfavorable conditions such as emotion and interference using a pre-trained Deep Neural Network mask and speech VGG. The proposed model obtained superior performance over the recent literature in English and Arabic emotional speech data and reported an average speaker identification rate of 85.2\%, 87.0\%, and 86.6\% using the Ryerson audio-visual dataset (RAVDESS), speech under simulated and actual stress (SUSAS) dataset and Emirati-accented Speech dataset (ESD) respectively.
