Nonlinear dynamics of soft boson excitations in hot QCD plasma I: plasmon-plasmon scattering

On the basis of pure gauge sector of Blaizot-Iancu equation, we derive kinetic equation of Boltzmann type, taking into account 2n+2-colorless plasmon decay processes, n=1,2,.... Using so-called Tsytovich correspondence principle, a direct connection between matrix elements of the plasmon decay processes and certain effective current, generating these processes, is established. The procedure of calculation of matrix element for simplest four-plasmon decay is considered comprehensively. The limiting value of the plasmon occupation number (~ 1/g^2, where g is a strong coupling) wherein all plasmon decays with n >= 1, contribute to the right-hand side of the Boltzmann equation, is defined. The iterative method of calculation of matrix elements for higher decay processes (n > 1), is proposed, and a problem of their gauge-invariance is discussed. Proceed from the general reasons the problem of extension of suggested approach to the case of color plasmons, is considered. The explicit form of linearized Boltzmann equation for color plasmons is written out, and it is shown that this equation covariantly conserves the color current, resulting from color-plasmon number density.

Nonlinear Landau damping of a plasmino in the quark-gluon plasma

On the basis of the Blaizot-Iancu equations, which are a local formulation of the hard thermal loop (HTL) equations of motion for soft fluctuating quark and gluon fields and their induced sources, the coupled kinetic equations for plasminos and plasmons are obtained. The equality of matrix elements for nonlinear scattering of a plasmino by hard particles in covariant and temporal gauges is established by using effective Ward identities. The model problem of the interaction of two infinitely narrow packets with fermion and boson quantum numbers is considered. The kinematical relations between wave vectors of the plasmino and plasmon are derived, when the effective pumping over of the plasma excitation energy from the fermion branch of plasma excitations to the boson branch and vice versa occur. The expression for the nonlinear Landau damping rate of a plasmino at rest is found, and a comparison with a plasmino damping constant obtained within the framework of the hard thermal loop approximation is made. The nonlinear Landau damping rate for normal quark excitations is shown to diverge like $1/\sqrt{q^2}$ near the light cone where $q$ is a four-momentum of excitations, and the improved Blaizot-Iancu equations removing this divergence are proposed.

The Boltzmann equation for colourless plasmons in hot QCD plasma. Semiclassical approximation

Within the framework of the semiclassical approximation, we derive the Boltzmann equation describing the dynamics of colorless plasmons in a hot QCD plasma. The probability of the plasmon-plasmon scattering at the leading order in the coupling constant is obtained. This probability is gauge-independent at least in the class of the covariant and temporal gauges. It is noted that the structure of the scattering kernel possesses important qualitative difference from the corresponding one in the Abelian plasma, in spite of the fact that we focused our study on the colorless soft excitations. It is shown that four-plasmon decay is suppressed by the power of $g$ relative to the process of nonlinear scattering of plasmons by thermal particles at the soft momentum scale. It is stated that the former process becomes important in going to the ultrasoft region of the momentum scale.

Gauge Invariance of Nonlinear Landau Damping Rate of Bose Excitations in Quark-Gluon Plasma

On the basis of the approximate dynamical equations describing the behavior of quark-gluon plasma (QGP) in the semiclassical limit and Yang-Mills equation, the kinetic equation for longitudinal waves (plasmons) is obtained. With the Ward identities the gauge invariance of obtained nonlinear Landau damping rate is proved. The physical mechanisms defining nonlinear scattering of a plasmon by QGP particles are analyzed. The problem on a connection of nonlinear Landau damping rate of longitudinal oscillations with damping rate, obtained in the framework of hard thermal loops approximation, is considered. It is shown that the gauge-dependent part of nonlinear Landau damping rate for the plasmons with zero momentum vanishes on mass-shell.
